This series seems to be at loose ends in some ways, still lurching around to find a purpose or direction, but at least there are enough fun fight sequences and character interactions this time around to keep me coming back.

It'd be nice if Arakawa would focus on the large cast of characters that have already been introduced instead of introducing another dozen people or demons every volume.

Extrait :

I said all the manga I'm reading are being made anime. I wonder how many I've read AREN'T getting ones?

(Trick question: If there's a manga, there is or will be an anime, possibly multiples.)

I'm not sure what I want to comment on in this. There are some interesting twists, which are spoiled by describing them, but it's partly clever and partly Deus Ex Machina, feels like. I keep thinking (or, fearing, rather) that this is Arakawa's Platinum End, though I think between the two Hero Tales is more that than this is. Both are sort of barely holding my interest, though, and making me think more of Fullmetal Alchemist than existing as their own stories. Only Silver Spoon really strikes me as its own thing, since slice-of-life stories are a LOT easier to follow and identify with than this "fights with secret daemons that only some people can see" stuff.

I don't know. Still reading it, but still struggling to remember what happened in the last one and such. Definitely going to be impenetrable to complete newcomers.

6 volumes in and the series still feels like it is working on setup amid all of the action. And even with all of this setting up, I'm still having a blast. Characters are great, fight scenes are super, convoluted plotting and back stabbing is spot on. It's a lot of moving parts here, but this volume is thankfully spread across one night/event. Summarizing all this might be a lot, especially since there are sooooo many characters.

Yuru, Uncle Shingo, Asuma (Dera): Asuma actually hates Uncle Shingo and wants to kill him so he pretended to be in cahoots, but is actually backing up Yuru. Yuru and Dera escape thanks to Asuma and now head towards Right and Left.
Ivan, Right, Left: They're fighting and Ivan probably killed the parents of Yuru and Asa
Gabby, Jin, Akio: Gabby isn't allowed to kill Akio who is an assassin sent to kill Asa. Jin won't allow it. Akio trapped by balls.
Gonzo Kagemori, Asa: Infiltrating to try and find Yuru but find the fake Asa and the little child pair with her.

This series gives so much whiplash. Not necessarily a bad thing, but man it's all over, keeping stuff straight can be difficult when you're not reading it all at once.

Anyways, it's no FMA but it is interesting.

This volume specifically felt very short, like not a ton happened? It was fine, it explained some things, which is good, but overall it's definitely a set up volume. Hopefully the next one's a little more more.

4.25/5
This volume continues where the last left off with our different characters in different places dealing with different foes. There is a lot of action and I love getting to learn about new daemons. I feel like the next volume will help bring more of our characters back together and I'm excited to see that.

My biggest gripe with these volumes is that I go through them so quickly as they are so engaging, it’s getting a little confusing as to who is with who and what group is trying to do what re the twins so I hope it does not get more convoluted but at the moment it’s manageable and keeps things very interesting.

EEEEEHHHHH

Man. Man!!!

This one was interesting in that the author finally just explains something through omniscient narration boxes instead of having a character standing there explaining it, which...frankly, she could use a lot more given how complex this all is.l

I can't keep track of all of the characters because of how little backstory we have on them so any time some betrays someone I don't even realize they were on the same side.

You ever read a manga and think, "wow, I can't wait until this gets an anime, this scene will look cool as hell when animated."?
That was me with the fight scenes in this volume.
