The authors note that Intellivision is often treated as a footnote in video game history, but here they demonstrate how its focus on innovation, expansion, competitive advertising, and game design impacted the industry and set some standards (both good and bad) that endure to this day. Especially cool that they interviewed so many people involved in its development and design, and even examine comments in the game code for insight! My full review appears in ALA Choice magazine.
