I loved this so much. Kept me intrigued the whole book and it’s so original, I’ve never read a book like this! Solace drove me crazy at times but only bc I am TEAM QUENEN all the way!!!! I am such a sucker for fated mates!! I need book 2 asap 🤩
Also, this book was *extremely* spicy but I never felt it was overdone or forced/ cringey. I feel like it added to the story well!

You guys. Read this. It’s one perfect mix fantasy (without being to crazy fantasy) and romance. Spicy, but tasteful all you could want 🔥🔥🔥. The world building and multiple POVs is top notch and I’m still dreaming about Quenen and Cove 🥵

I was lucky enough to be an ARC reader and finished the book in 3 days. This book did not disappoint. SJM enthusiasts jump on board!

I’ve never read any kind of fantasy before this book and the one thing I can say for sure is that I will 100000% be reading more in the future. This book is an absolute dream. The storyline has you feeling like you’re actually there with everyone and plays on your emotions so much. E. K. seriously made the most perfect spicy fantasy feel so real and I’m sooo looking forward to the next book!

I cannot wait until the world gets to experience this book. A beautifully crafted world, characters that you love, hate, and love-hate. Quenen is shadow-daddy level hot and I cannot get enough of him.

If you know me then you know I love the fated mates book trope so when I saw the concept of fated mates having matching eyes? I immediately knew I needed to read it.

Read this if you like…
- fated mates
- enemies to lovers
- found family
- slow burn tension to FIRE
- mind talk bonds
- academia setting

This book is so easy to read, plot driven with characters you immediately love and intrigue that keeps you guessing the entire time. Shoutout to my friend Ashley who had to deal with my dozens of spiraling texts while I was trying to figure it out. The writing in this book is SO GOOD. It’s lyrical and sweeping, visual and captivating and kept me interested the entire time. I couldn’t put it down and I didn’t want it to end.

Here are a few of my favorite things…
- every single that Q says. HE IS SUPERIOR.
- the dual pov of mother and daughter. At first I was eh but but the end I realized how much it added to the story and how necessary it was
- how the shifts in relationships were written in a way that shows that sometimes it’s two steps forward and then a step back. It’s messy and I loved it

I can’t wait for the next book! PLEASE OH PLEASE LET THERE BE A Q POV

Would I recommend? YES

This book was my intro to the fantasy genre as a whole, and this was arguably one of the best experiences I’ve ever had while reading. The way these words are so eloquently strung together and how the plot points all connect is astounding. This book is art and I seriously CANNOT wait until the next one.

So maybe it’s unfair for me to rate my own book 5🌟 but hear me out…

This book is a small piece of my soul and as an avid reader myself I did my absolute best to put little pieces of magic into this story.

Solace is a relatable FMC with a seriously insane helicopter mom who loves nothing more but to lie to get her way and hide the truth.

Cove is her childhood best friend who gives her nothing but heart eyes and puts her on a pedestal (for the most part).

As she starts a long-awaited philosophy class in the capital she finds herself in a relationship with her best friend, but it’s a forbidden romance seeing as he’s not her mate.

Her closest friends support her endlessly but not without some cheeky banter along the way, doing their absolute best to keep her in check, even when she starts to fall in love.

While Solace finds herself wrapped up in Coves black sheets, her mother Ophelia uncovers a truth about their past that she will do anything, even kill, to keep hidden. When her secret is threatened to become exposed she does what she can to keep Solace’s eyes covered.

As the semester progresses Solace finds herself tormented by her tall, dark, and tatted classmate that refuses to take no for an answer.

In this dark romantic fantasy I spin secrets, smut, and die-hard friendships into the first book of what I hope to be an epic fantasy series that leaves you breathless.

Do me a favor, read this book.

So grateful to have been an ARC reader for this!

Sight of Solace is a romantasy through and through. The book checks off all of the necessary marks while also being a fresh and fun twist to the genre. I especially enjoyed the fact that while it is a fantasy the setting itself was quite modern. Fantasy books don't need to all be in a medieval-based setting!! The book itself was such a fun read with its witty characters and exceptional dialogue. You know how some books have conversations between characters that feel stiff and forced? Not this one. Each conversation between each character felt real -- I was getting pissed at characters as much as Solace was! When a book makes ME feel the emotions of a character then I know it's a good one. The characters are all distinctly individual and each bring their unique charm, as well as their well-defined flaws. Their arguments and banter is very much like how people would talk with their friends.

I think this book will be a hit with readers once it releases next month and hopefully can draw folks into the romantasy genre as well! I can't wait to read reviews from readers once they get their hands on it, and I will (im)patiently wait for book two!!!

*I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review*

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶️🌶️🌶️

I am OBSESSED with Solace’s story. A few of my favorite things:
1) mates having the same set of eyes is such a freaking cool concept to me! It’s super original compared to your standard Romantasy fated mate story.
2) dual POV from mother/daughter. Dual POV is my favorite, but I feel like I’m used to seeing it as FMC/MMC, so this was just so cool to read. Each POV had major plot points that affected both characters and their stories.
3) the twists and turns! There was just enough to keep me on my toes without making it difficult or confusing.

I cannot wait to read the next installment when the time comes. I need to know how everything’s going to go down!

Color me impressed! E.K. Pomfret’s debut novel is a fast-burn (and a little slow burn 🌶️😉), multi-POV, world-building fantasy with themes of fated mates and enemies-to-lovers!

I loved the development/self-discovery of Solace into a well-rounded FMC (caveat I’m not a huge fan superhero-like strong FMCs- honestly, who can be badass all the time??? Don’t we want to be a princess sometimes?!) BUT, Pomfret balances Solace’s strengths and weaknesses extremely well with the MMC (no spoilers!) and her ride-or-die friends.

&&& While I’m very excited about the MC’s story/relationship/development in the next book—I got really invested in the supporting characters! I’m excited to see how these side plots/characters develop in the next book!

When I tell you this book lives rent free in my mind… I mean it. Even after finishing the book I find myself thinking about this story DAILY. It truly has everything, the tea, the spice, the character development, the plot. THE SPICE🌶️🌶️ E.K. Pomfret leaves no detail left unsaid, the crave for book number two is so strong! I would recommend this book to anyone looking to escape into a magical world that will encapsulate you entirely and leave you wanting so much more of it. 5 stars is not enough!

A book you cannot put down and cannot wait to pick back up. Seriously, I was pulling it up on my phone at any moment I had more than 30 seconds to dedicate to reading. The different character point of views was artfully done, I felt for ALL of them, and there was never a lull in the storytelling. The perfect amount of spice. I cannot wait until it’s officially launched and already am excited to read the next one!!

I’d give it a 3.5. Cove 👎🏽 Grammar (especially commas) 👎🏽 Story and how mates figure out they are mates 👍🏽 Way smuttier than anticipated.

This book was EVERYTHING! I only wish I had picked it up sooner. The length intimidated me at first, but once I started, I devoured it so fast!

The multi-POV storytelling was fantastic, but what really stood out to me was the unique perspective of both a mother and daughter. I loved Solace and Ophelia—they completely stole my heart!

The writing style was so smooth and easy to follow, keeping me hooked from start to finish. Every chapter left me craving more, and now I’m beyond excited for book two.

And yes, I 100% agree with the author: Fuck you, Cove! (For now.)

If you’re on the fence about picking this one up, don’t wait—it’s worth every page!

I think I really liked this? I loved the storyline and the characters but also felt like nothing happened for it being a 600+ page book. I will definitely be reading the next one though! Team Quenen forever.

Warnings: Hella high on the smut level. Hella low on the grammar level.

As someone new to reading the romantasy genre let me just say DAMN! I have been missing out 😅

Sight of Solace was a perfect blend of fantasy with modern details that made it less intimidating for me as a newbie than some other fantasy books out there, but I imagine this story would be just as captivating for a seasoned reader.

With the beautiful character development of both main & side characters, amazing detail of the world E.K created, shocking plot twists, the level of spice… it’s all perfectly crafted & left me wanting more.

I seriously struggled to put this book down & caught myself staying up way too late reading it on multiple occasions. I can’t even count the amount of times I gasped out loud over a plot twist or re-read a spicy scene because it was too good to just read once. I’ve read other books since finishing this and was honestly disappointed so I’m impatiently waiting for book two...

Do yourself a favor and read Sight of Solace, you won’t regret it.

I enjoyed the plot and characters, and the world building gave just enough info without it being overwhelming. It was a little awkward to read when modern inventions pop up in the story (they have cars and display screens but no one ever mentions phones?), and the magic system goes largely unexplained but I'm guessing that will happen in the next book. I'm also hoping for the side characters to get more time because they're intriguing.

While I enjoyed the story there were a lot of typos and grammatical errors, which took away from the reading experience for me. I also don't think the MCs have a very good connection beyond being fated mates with great sexual chemistry. The FMC goes from hating him to loving him too quickly without resolving why she hated him, and he goes from being a jerk to sweet just because she finally sleeps with him. Not a lot of character development going on even though there was plenty of opportunity for it.

This was the best experience I've had reading a book for a while. Everything about this world pulled me in! With Solace, Bea, and Fleur's friendship and their relationship being so amazing and the plot constantly making me need to know what happens next, it was impossible to put this down. Ek has created a world that is magical and still familiar, and characters that act in very understandable ways whether they did something that I agreed with or something that angered me in the moment everything felt very real, and the emotions that I felt during each chapter were incredible. But most importantly I'm looking forward to rereading this book over again to feels the highs and lows all over again, With Love

I am unwell. Not only was the story line, character development, and spiciness everything you could dream of. It was full of so much detail and drama that kept you wanting more. Quenen has absolute shadow daddy vibes and all of the strong female characters just make me hype.

I will say I 100% went into this book ready to tear it apart as I’m one who will be completely honest if a book is overhyped or not good

This book is going to rock the romantasy world.

I’m so damn proud of you, Liz!

This book took me by surprise! I don’t even know where I came across of it, but I am so glad I did.

I loved the concept that you knew your mate when they have the same eye color as you. No one could deny a mate if they had a matching set of eyes.

Another unique thing about how the book was written was mainly in Dual POV in first person from the mother and the daughter. Some different POV’s of other characters were throughout but the main stories were of the mother and daughter. I’m used to reading from the FMC and MMC perspectives, so to read about a dual storyline of each character really built a full story and world.

The spice and the steam were definitely there in this book.
🔥🔥🔥🔥/5
🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
Open door and very much interwoven throughout the stories, but didn’t take away from the plot.

The ending was a bit of a cliffy and the next book seriously needs to be out so I can read about the next adventure of this group!

Tropes:
✅Touch her and 💀
✅ Found family
✅ Love triangle
✅ Secret identity

While I DID enjoy this book, there’s a few things that lowered my overall rating.

- This needed another proofread. There were lots of grammatical errors throughout.
- No character development. The FMC was very one note to me. She went from hating Quenen to loving him in the matter of a day?
- Not really any world building in my opinion. I’m hoping there’s more in book two, especially involving the magic system.

What I did like:
- Quenen.
- Solaces friends. I liked them more than I liked her 😅
- The matching eyes aspect is very original.
- Quenen. Again.

This book has so much potential and im really hoping book two can do it justice!
