How can we engage today’s skeptical post-Christian culture? Old ways of evangelism no longer work with a generation of young people who reject truth, morality, the Bible, and the existence of God.
In Not Beyond Reach, Aaron Pierce, Mission Director of Steiger International, helps us understand the beliefs of millennials and Gen Z and shows us how the way to sharing Christ with them is through real friendships and authentic conversations
This was seriously such a good book. Great insights on how to reach our current culture. I’d suggest this book to any and every believer as we seek to reach the lost around us.
In this short work, Pierce gives a good foundation for relational or incarnational ministry. If you have had experience in these types of ministries before- such as Young Life, then much of what Pierce writes is pretty standard. This kind of work can be helpful for those who are just getting into relational ministry or who still think in older terms of programs and things of that sort. While the book is framed in the context of living in a post Christian world, it really is just about how to build relationships and then leverage those relationships for Christ.
I inhaled this book, because it was fresh and an enjoyable, easy read. It does its work with examples, experiences and non-judgmental, heartfelt instruction. One of many helpful insights I absorbed from the book was the encouragement to view people with compassion, and as image-bearers vs. enemies or evangelism targets. I hope my viewpoint will be changed forever, and I pray that these insights will propel me to take consistent, loving, courageous action.
Sometimes we forget what is important, or how to get there! Thank you Aaron for reminding us of what, when, where and how to be a light in the darkness, water to a dry broken spirit. It is all about relationships and not being afraid to build new friendships with the people God places in our daily path! Great book!
Aaron does a great job of giving good tips and tactics for being able to build relationships with non religious people, which is the foundation of being able to share Jesus with them over time.
