EN As much as I wanted to give it a higher rating, I just can’t. The story didn’t excite me that much.
This should have been titled Wolverine vs Predator, since Wolverine clearly takes center stage throughout. Essentially, the plot revolves around a long-standing hunt: the same Predator tracks Wolverine across various historical periods, with neither ever managing to defeat the other — until now.
Each of these time periods is illustrated by a different artist. Some do a better job than others, but overall the artwork is competent.
Both the story and the art are just that — competent. It all feels like a product designed to sell, lacking any real soul or passion. There's no spark, no personality — nothing that leaves a lasting impression.

A leitura não me entusiasmou assim tanto.
Had fun with this one. Percy was doing some cool stuff in here. The Predator first encounters Wolverine when he was young, probably late 1800s or early 1900s. They scrap but it isn’t finished. Over the next 100 years, the Predator keeps coming back and they have several fights over the years. They use a different artist for each time period which I thought was a nice touch. Also thought it was cool that Percy went with some of Wolverine’s known historical moments for some of these battles. Like at the Weapon X facility or when he was running with Team X. He also paid homage to two scenes from the first Predator movie which I thought was cool. Overall, this was a enjoyable read with some great action and art.
Let's be real, it's pretty clear what you're getting into here. Percy puts together a story of Wolverine and Predator battling it out across decades, finding some interesting themes and mirroring between the two characters in a story that is otherwise designed to have these two beat on each other. It's what it promises and offers some fun along the way.
I WAS GEEKING OUT SO HARD THIS ENTIRE TIME. My favorite superhero ever vs my favorite movie monster ever? Did y’all really think I’d pass this up?
It’s gritty and gory with a simple plot that just really worked for me. It’s Wolverine and Predator locked in a cosmic battle for a century; you have a pretty good idea of what you’re gonna get. The art was gnarly, with the scenes in Japan being particularly gorgeous.
I especially love the nods to Wolverine’s allies and enemies. The X-Men and Nightcrawler cameos were specifically gratifying. And the constant parallels between Logan and the Yautja were so cool.
I just had so much fun. If anyone needs me, I’m gonna go rewatch the Predator franchise and the X-Men franchise.
This was one of the best "Predator Vs." comics I've read. We get to see Wolverine through various stages of his life as he's pursued by a Predator. Story was good, art was good, overall very good series.
I’m not sure if this is a multiverse story or full canon to the comics universe but it was fun as hell. Seeing these two warriors hunt each other down over various different parts of Logan’s life was really cool. Seeing how much Logan has changed in all his years, from weapon to friend, bad guy to hero. He’s been through so much and not even a damn Predator could stop him. Really enjoyed the last issue and seeing how it all came to a head.
Een clash of Titans Predator v.s Wolverine Een match made in heaven !
This book was everything I wanted it to be. It is a great quick (impossible yo put down) read of blood, guts, and violence. Just what I would expect from these two.
When a young Predator (the Predator species is given a name I this book), is a young man who seemingly can not be killed a blood hint through the century is born. Will the Predator finally claim his great trophy, or will Wolverine once again prove he is the best at what he does?
This book was years in the making and worth it. It is great having the old Wolverine back, and he is against a worthy opponent. I like the different artwork for the different eras and creative teams. This book is the violence feast it is supposed to be. The book finishes with a thumbnail variant cover gallery.
A pretty interesting story with an ending that felt predictable. If you’re looking for the junk food style comic books that have great fight scenes, minimal characters and using the full range of capabilities of the characters we do have, this is it. It was fun and short.
If mashing up these properties was to exist, having Ben Percy writing it and starting with Wolverine, where you can be brutal and let the villain do what he does is probably the best you can hope for. Having multiple artists, maybe not the best choice...STARTING things off with Greg Land? Ouch....
It’s not particularly sophisticated or thought provoking stuff, but Benjamin Percy and artists (not you Greg Land) are more than capable of creating a comic blockbuster with this material.
Reviewing this since it seems to be the only trade paperback for this series listed on GR. I remember when Marvel got back the Predator and Alien licenses because of their big daddy Disney, that we would get Marvel crossovers straight away, but no, it took a few years until we finally got something in Predator vs Wolverine which is honestly a great pairing! The best crossover though will always be the first Batman vs Predator IMO!
Overall it was a decent one. Logan gets stalked by a Predator throughout his life starting in 1900 up until modern day. The comic is definitely rated R with its violence but that's what you would want from this kind of crossover. They do tie the predator in to things like Weapon X which I thought was cool, but ya its a good series overall.
Arnold was able to kill a Predator. Danny Glover killed a Predator too. It took Wolverine 100 years to kill a Predator? Just saying. The different time periods make for a somewhat interesting, but also means that each is short with very little detail. I would have liked to have seen more emphasis on the modern battle between the two.
On paper this sounds like a great idea, and turns out in actuality this was fantastic. Now I admit I didn't set the bar very high for this one, but I'm surprised Percy was able to pull all the era's of Logans lifetime into one cohesive story thread. I think anyone wanting a crash course in Wolverine would find this story fairly decent and with the added Predator re-launch there was plenty to keep me interested. The art was decent enough to get the story over, and there are plenty of artists handling the different eras Ken Lashley handles the current day story line and has sunk tones of detail onto the pages and crushes the Canadian wilderness landscapes through many a battles.
Gets better after they leave Greg Land behind (but then what doesn't, amirite?). It soon gets over the top and keeps going. If only it did not fizzle out with a whimper, this would probably be 4 stars for a very fun ride.
In the Canadian wilderness in 1900 the young outcast James Howlett encounters and bests an alien hunter. This begins a century of confrontations between the two hunters, with the Predator returning throughout Logan's career as a member of Team X, as Weapon X, during his life in Japan and as an X-Man.
'Batman Versus Predator' by Dave Gibbons is one of my favourite graphic novels of all time and may well be the perfect crossover story, so I was curious to see what Marvel could do with the potential of the Predators mixed with one of my favourite of their characters (anyone who grew up on the 90s X-Men cartoon loves Wolverine). In all honesty, I didn't have high hopes though.
As it turned out, this is actually very good. Where 'Batman Versus Predator' focused on Batman tracking a mysterious serial killer who was taking trophies, playing into the detective noir style of Gotham, here the focus is the animalistic hunting instincts of the two title characters. There's a savagery to this book that is very much in keeping with both the Predator and Wolverine.
I also like the touch of having the Predator encounter Logan in various eras of his life; when he was living in the wilderness post-'Wolverine: Origins', when he was working as a black ops soldier, when he was the savage Weapon X, his time living as a samurai in Japan and his time with the X-Men (the 80s, by the look of the costumes). It means that we get to see how all the different versions of himself that Logan has been over the years deal with the threat the Predator poses. All that's missing is Patch and Madripoor but, honestly, I wasn't sorry to not see that included.
Overall, although not especially deep or clever, this is much better than I expected and is a genuinely worthy crossover between the Marvel and 20th Century Fox franchises (one of the better results of Disney owning more than they should).
I have always enjoyed crossover stories bringing elements from multiple sources to create something new that fans can enjoy. This story is not just a story about how one of the predator aliens known as Yautja comes to Earth and dukes it out with one of the best loved mutants in Marvel comics though we get plenty of action and gore whenever these two warriors clash.
Considering the Incursion events and Battleworld in the Marvel comic timeline I wouldn't put it past anyone that this story might be canon in some version of the Marvelverse with an intricate story about how this warrior from the stars discovers younger James "Logan" Howlett and being like wise long lived ends up hunting him over the year. As such this story shares with us how being hunted has helped Wolverine be the best at what he does while the effect of life after the final clash makes for an enjoyable read about his secret past.
Of course one of the fun thing about many books compiled of various comics includes alternative covers being included and there are some real sweet pieces including one of my favorites which was a variant of volume 4 by Joshua Cassara and Dean White showing Wolverine over the years. Honestly with alternate artists per time period and details like alternate covers this book is really interesting and I am glad I got a chance to read it. So if you are a fan of either series or just want to check out the artwork by all means check out this series and see how you feel after. :)
I mostly read DC and Image comics these days. But when I saw this mashup mini-series advertised in a Marvel issue I picked up on Free Comic Book Day 2024, I was immediately intrigued. A year later, again on FCBD, I bought this trade, not even checking to see if I could access it through my wife's Marvel Unlimited account. To get to the point, I was disappointed. Even though the series consists of only four issues, it took me over two weeks to read, in large part because I was never all that excited to move to the next installment.
In the abstract, I can get behind Benjamin Percy's decision for how to structure the story: Map out the conflict such that the same version of the Predator encounters Logan repeatedly over the course of the latter's long adult life. But, in execution, I feel like the story had to move too quickly from one set piece to the next. Perhaps this miniseries should have been six issues or more. As it is, I didn't feel like the repeated encounters between the two title characters was an episodic clashing of two forces destined to run up against each other. But I didn't feel like this was anything close to a cheap cash-in either. There were certainly satisfying, even cool, moments in the story. Yet my abiding sentiment about this volume is that it represents a missed opportunity.
As I write this, my local comic shop has a poster displayed by the front entrance advertising Predator Versus Spider-Man. I hope that tale turns out better than this one.
"I'm going to carve the ugly right off of your face," Wolverine speaking to the Predator. What a great comic! One of my favorite comic book characters battling one of my favorite aliens, so what more could I want? I know this is not a deep story, but it was a lot of fun to read. First, the artwork is excellent. Second, the battles between Wolverine and the Predator are absolutely brutal with suspense. I liked the first battle when it goes back and forth how both are healing and the pain they feel. A good story has a protagonist struggle and finds a way to succeed. Wolverine gets messed up multiple times in this story, so it is not an easy battle for him. You have two opponents equally matched in this fight. This is not as good as Predator, but better than Predator 2 (not that I dislike 2. In fact, it's growing on me). This is a million times better than Predators, The Predator and those horrendous movies called Alien vs. predator. I have not seen Prey, so I cannot comment. If you like the first two Predator movies, you will enjoy this comic. If you like Wolverine and would like to see him battle something different, this is for you too.
This is exactly what it sets out to be, and it's wonderful for it! This is simply a fun read. It's very cinematic in scope, full of violence and action, and very true to the Wolverine character. Percy is no stranger to Wolverine, having just completed a lengthy modern run on the solo title. He understands his motivations and history well. The battle between these two hunters dips in and out of Wolverine's whole span of history. Uniquely, there is a different artist for each past section with Lashley on the present day scenes. They play well together, giving distinct flavor to each "memory" block. The action sequences aren't static; all the artists chosen fit this type of story well. This is bloody, violent, and just over-the-top enough to be enjoyable but not overly ridiculous. For me, that is key, this doesn't feel like a "one-off" story. Rather, this could have been a segment of Percy's regular run on the main title easily. Look, this isn't going to win any literary awards. But, damn if I didn't tear through it with great amusement! I see solicitations for a Predator versus Black Panther series launching soon, and I have no doubt that will absolutely rip, too.
Predator Versus Wolverine collects issues 1-4 of the Marvel Comics series written by Benjamin Percy with art by Ken Lashley, Greg Land, Andrea Di Vito, Hayden Sherman, Kei Zara, and Gavin Guidry
“Whatever you are… I’m going to carve the ugly off you.”
In the early 1900s, a young Logan crosses paths with a young Yautja warrior in the Alaskan wilderness and face off against each other. Wolverine walks away thinking he killed the alien warrior, but runs into him again decades later as a member of Team X. The duo will continue to battle each other to standstills over the course of Logan’s life including during the Weapon X, Muramasa, and Westchester eras. Fast forward to current day and the fierce warriors face off in their final fight.
After reading and loving the first issue last month, I finally got around to finishing the series. I think the first issue is the best issue in the series, but I still really enjoyed the full story. Ken Lashley provides art for the current day fight told in chunks throughout the four issues with various artists and colorists tackling the flashback eras. I do not read many Marvel books, let alone X-Men books, but I really enjoyed how fun this was!
