ENTER THE WORLD OF “GUCCI, GLITZ, AND GLAMOUR”* IN THIS DELICIOUSLY DECADENT LOOK INTO THE LIVES OF THE YOUNG, THE RICH, THE BEAUTIFUL, AND THE CONNIVINGPaulette, Gillian, and Reese are three gold diggers who have dollar signs in their eyes and gold digging in their DNA. Lauren is Paulette’s pampered cousin who never fails to remind Paulette of how different their lives have always been—Lauren the daughter of wealthy black urbanites and Paulette the daughter of the family black sheep who married “beneath her family pedigree.” Paulette will stop at nothing—not even sleeping with her cousin Lauren’s husband—to gain the social status she feels she rightfully deserves. Gillian is a second-generation gold digger and, having learned from the best, strategically sleeps her way to Hollywood—but does she have the talent to be a lasting star? Reese is a career basketball groupie turned NBA trophy wife, and she wears it well, taking advantage of everything her new position affords; but when she finds out that DL may be more than just her husband’s best friend’s initials, she may be forced to realize that all that glitters isn’t gold. The stunningly beautiful, well-bred, but naïve Lauren is the secret envy of her friends. She seems to have all the creature comforts money can buy, but when she’s confronted with a crisis of her own, just how will she respond?
I am surprised this book is not more popular on Goodreads.
This was an amazing story. The title and cover would make one believe it to be your average urban fiction but this novel is everything but! It follows four women through their past and present circumstances that intertwine early and intensely in chapter one. Much like most popular mystery series this story is told in a sequence of flashbacks that create dynamic character development, while explaining how each woman is a product of her individual prior environment.
I believe Howard purposely left the most important question unanswered in the end. This fact makes me eager to read the sequel.
This book was about four friends Paulette,Reese,Gillian, and Lauren. The come from diffrent walks of life but share one common thread the all mighty dollar. It's a really good read.
I started reading this book awhile back....seemed ok, dont know why it didnt keep my attention; will start over and give it another try when I finish my current book.
First chapter was amazing but after that. Book went into to to you many small details without the big picture of the NOW. TO MUCH GOING into the past describing each characters past without much of the pov of the presence. I became bored with same old family disfunction. Would have been better if each chapter was the pov of the character. To many back characters and people to keep up with main 4 friends. Only on charter 9 but by chapter 9 in most urban books I’m already feening to turn the page. With this book now I’m bored to turn the page. I want so badly to know what happened from chapter one. So worried about how the cousin will find out she’s sleeping with her husband. Also it’s like the author is obsessed with light skin people and fine hair. As she is describing darker people in the book as UGLY and nappy headed and the mixed people nice looking with soft fine hair. Won’t be reading anymore of her books. not enough to keep me intrigued

I've never read anything by this author. I was in the bookstore just browsing one day and decided to pick it up. Once I starting reading this book I honestly could NOT put it down! The characters were colorful and well developed and the author of this book made you feel like you were a fly on the wall LITERALLY! This book was soulful deliciously!
This surprising book is Book One of a sequel which takes readers on a complex life-journey of four successful, but vastly unique African American women. It is a story that is sure to shock, stun, surprise, and delight. Highly recommended.
