Pilot’s Apprentice
Join the circus, see the galaxy. . . to Anwyn this sounded like a great adventure!
Anwyn Owens won her place at a prestigious starship pilot’s program on Earth and graduated with honors. But nothing in the curriculum could have prepared her for reality when she followed the advice of her uncle’s old friend and took a job as assistant pilot for an intergalactic circus.
The circus people became friends, she was learning new skills, and she was definitely seeing more of the “less civilized” parts of the galaxy than she might have if she’d remained with her politically prominent family.
Or maybe more of an adventure than Anwyn expected.
Not everything was running smoothly. The owner was ill, while the manager seemed to take an instant dislike to Anwyn. And what exactly was the manager doing on his late-night trips off their ship on various planets, anyway?
The circus had its own secrets, but now those secrets were about to blow up on them when a police force from the League of Free Planets becomes involved, along with Anwyn’s prominent uncle . . . and the team of special agents she’d met through him months ago.
Everyone is converging on the circus and Anwyn and her new friends are going to need all the help they can get!

Astounding!
I can not rave enough about this series of books. It has everything necessary to a great story. A strong (but flawed) heroine, a dashing love interest, high speed chases, danger, humor, and eminently relatable characters. In this book, we join the circus! But everything, or everyone, is not what it seems. Our FMC finds herself once again wrapped up in trouble. The mind movie the author"s words provided me was fantastic! I love the story, and am eager to see where the author takes us next. Don't tell Kevin (the author's son), but I like her books 1000x more than his. (And I adore his books)
If you enjoy sci-fi ala Piers Anthony or Robert Heinlein, you'll enjoy these books.

Fantastic sci fi adventure
When I look for sci fi books to read, the books in this series are exactly what I hope to find. The worldbuilding is excellent, the "good" characters are loveable and interesting, the adventure is interesting, and the bit of romance is believable and well-written. And there are cats. Bad things do happen; characters are hurt, and characters die. Anwyn is an interesting character and is developing into a great character. I hope she has many more adventures.

Another very entertaining story by the author
I have enjoyed the adventures of Anwynn as she journeys out into the galaxy at large and away from the comfort zone of the League planets. The story moved right along with plenty of action and suitable bad guys and I didn't want to put it down. My only complaint is waiting for the next book

Outstanding series, exciting and entertaining!!!!!
Congratulations to l.J. Dix for this really amazing series. It’s hard to find such an interesting and exciting author who not only writes intelligently but also provides top rated plots, characters and excitement in the stories. I’m really looking forward to the next book in the series.

The main characters are very familiar to me and I love hearing about their adventures. The plot is straightforward and the premise is Anwyn learning to copilot for an Intergalactic circus. From there, incognito royalty, Intergalactic drug cartels, and adventures abound. I highly recommend this book and the entire series.

Action, adventure, a circus?
Ok so I really liked this book. More than the first one. It has it all, (see review title) a great story, and good villains.

Just as good as first book
I really love this storyline. I love how this story builds out the characters and how the main heroine thinks for herself and makes smart decisions.
