My world is upended when I find my mom packing her suitcases. She tells me I don’t have to call my stepfather Dad or Daddy anymore since we’re leaving and moving in with the man she’s been cheating on him with for the past eight months.
But I don’t want to leave or call someone else Daddy. What I want is to ease the sting of Mom’s betrayal, to apologize for my selfish behavior over the last three years, and to make sure he will still want to be my dad even after he’s no longer legally my stepfather.
Thinking back to some of my parents’ recent arguments, I think I know what I can do to help Daddy feel better. It will be my way of saying, “I’m sorry, Daddy.”
I’m Sorry, Daddy is a spicy, age-gap, 11k-word romance novelette. All characters are 18+. Please read the TWs & CWs included at the beginning of the book. Happily ever after guaranteed.
May Alder would like to thank her life-long maladaptive daydreaming disorder and rampant #daddyissues for the storylines that have been brewing in her mind for years. Her need to turn them into something productive, a positive instead of a negative, has spurred her to write her stories and release them into the world.
„Calling me an ugly, fat bastard means nothing to me, not when Tina looks at me with unbridled desire and unconditional love every time I come home early from work, strip naked, and climb on top of her“.
No but why was this so good?! I loooveed the writing style and the story! Most of the times those smutty taboo novellas don’t really have much of an emotional aspect but it definitely was here different and I really liked it. The emotional aspect, the way the characters thought and felt, gave the book so much more depth.

Not my first step-daughter/step-father taboo erotica.
But my first with the MCs getting together so abruptly.
I need at least two pages dedicated to the guilty attraction or something. Also, I need them to resolve the taboo issue either before or after the spice, not during... 😒 ・ ・ ・ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🕮⋆˚࿔✎𓂃 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰𝐬 ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
I had some expectations that it was gonna be a good one, but I did not expect it would be THAT GOOD!!
The whole "I'm sorry" thing really got to me - like from both MCs. First it was Tina repeatedly saying sorry to Bill and then it was Bill's turn who kept saying sorry to her. I find that cute and sweet that both of them trying to make each other feel better. 🥹
I could feel both of them were longing for connection, even with everything that was going on. I found that Bill and Tina were adorable...yes, you read that right, adorable. I know it's somewhat an oxymoron, considering this book is an erotic taboo story between a stepfather and stepdaughter. But it is what it is - and I think that's what made it such a good read for me. It's the very contrast between the forbidden and the sweet that made it such a memorable and enjoyable read for me. ✨️
It's a quick read, which is great if you're looking for something that gets straight to the point and doesn't mess around. For a novelette it sure packs a lot of feels and definitely some spicy scenes. I enjoyed it sooo much! 😍

I actually really enjoyed this spicy novella. I have a thing for daddies or daddy figures, so, this was right up my alley lol 🫶🏼 Short and sweet and to the point! If you enjoy an age gap and daddy issues, this is for you!
I’m Sorry Daddy-May Alder ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A short and sweet novella of stepfamily love. It’s a familiar trope, the wife cheating on husband she used and abused for his money, then she up and leaves. Over eighteen stepdaughter loves the only dad she’s ever had, and has watched how the mother treated this hardworking blue collar man. Daughter wants the stepfather and offers herself to make him feel less gutted from being dumped. It is all pretty well written, especially the stepfather trying to do the right thing, but misery and lust are in the driver’s seat. The dad was a nice guy who has been overworked and overwhelmed trying to make the spendaholic wife happy. The stepdaughter has turned into a brat shopaholic from no attention being paid to her. She has a revelation how she and her mother have taken advantage of the man which made him back off from them. Her inner thoughts were well written, so were his in this dual POV. Some well written dirty sex with sweetness mixed in as they both have always had affection for each other. And, they both want a family. The writing was good. The story had elements of angst and desire and it moved along.
I was curious… and I should’ve minded my business instead.

I’ve read plenty of taboo, but this one is weird. It focuses too much on the “dad and mom” and their situation than anything else. Even for a quick read, I’m a little disappointed.
I love that Bill with the Dad Bod wins. In 44 pages, he gets the girl, albeit it’s his stepdaughter. The story is filled with all things May Alder fans love.
Rating: 0.5 stars — and that half is for my survival instincts.
I made it to page 31 before I hit my limit, and frankly, I deserve a snack and a support group.
What starts off as a standard dark romance setup quickly spirals into something deeply unsettling—not because it’s taboo (I can handle taboo when it’s written with clarity and consent), but because this book doesn’t seem to know what it’s actually doing.
We begin with a protagonist who has a history of being pressured into things in past relationships. She clearly carries trauma. That alone should have been explored and respected.
Instead, the story fast-tracks her into a relationship with the man who raised her. Not a step-parent from age fifteen—the man who raised her from infancy. This dynamic is treated with emotional softness, romantic framing, and very little ethical weight. The character herself even points out how close their familial relationship is, but the narrative keeps pushing forward like none of it matters.
Dialogue is repetitive and often bizarre. Physical logistics defy biology. Every third page reminds you of the same anatomical detail with no new insight. And the emotional arc? It’s not romantic—it’s emotionally exploitative.
Worse, serious moments that should be addressed with care are glossed over or repackaged as intimacy. Characters say “stop” but don’t mean it. Pain is described, but not dealt with. And we’re asked to accept all of it as some kind of transcendent connection.
It’s not. It’s a mess.
If you’re looking for dark romance with complexity, this isn’t it. If you’re looking for kink exploration, there are better—safer, smarter—ways to do it. If you’re looking for something unhinged to roast with your book club, maybe. Otherwise, skip it.
Tina comes home to her parents fighting (he is her stepdad), and it turns out her mom has been cheating on her stepdad with Tim.
Tina wants nothing to do with her mom's new boyfriend. She wants to comfort her daddy, and boy, does she know how to comfort him in his time of need. Bill can't wait to fill Tina up and put a baby in her.
She calls him daddy, and he still calls her daughter, so if that isn't your jam, you have been warned.
How can Tina make it up to her Daddy (her stepdad - soon to be ex-stepdad since her mom was cheating on him and leaving him for another man)? By being a good girl...stopping the constant shopping, cutting up her credit card and sinking to her knees 😉
I thought this was going to be a cute daddy Dom/little girl romance. I did not think it was going to be stepdad/stepdaughter grossness. This man literally raised this child. I couldn’t finish it. I think I got 27% done before I realized this is not a daddy Dom situation..
I read The Milk Man and decided to check out May Alder’s other novellas. I will be reading the other novellas, but I got about 4 pages in and the FMC’s name is my mom’s name and I couldn’t handle it/ignore the name
While this story is not my favorite or even my usual trope to read about, I was asked by several people to do so and give my review of it. So, this is me responding to those requests.
I'm Sorry, Daddy was a short novella about Bill and Tina. The author did specify how long Bill had been married to Tina's mother, so we don't know how long he had been a father figure in her life. Therefore, I can't give an opinion on their daddy/daughter relationship as opposed to the more intimate relationship they developed.
19-year-old Tina returned home from shopping with one of her closest friends to hear her mother and Bill in another shouting match. She raced to their room and saw her mother packing her things. She quickly learned that not only did her mother tell her they were moving out, but Bill informed her that her mom had been cheating on him for the past 8 months. It was apparent that he had returned home unexpectedly and found his soon-to-be ex-wife in bed with her newest lover.
After her mother stormed out, Tina learned some more truths about what had been really going on, and the fact that she had fallen into the same habit as her mother...taking advantage of her stepdad in every way, including his wallet. One thing led to another, and before long, Tina was putting the moves on her stepdad. Although he had tried to stop her, she quickly convinced him to give in.
This relationship continued to develop over the next several months. When Tina's mother finally returned for her (but did she really?), Bill had set it up so that she walked in on him in bed with Tina. No need for further elucidation, right?
This was a very short novella that had a hint of the taboo. It was scintillating from start to finish, and it was 100% OTT in the angst and drama. There was no time (or need) for character development, and it definitely did not have a plot or major storyline to adhere to, so the absence of a normal emotional rollercoaster wasn't much of a surprise either.
I gave this short story only a three-star rating, but that was because it just happened so fast without the usual build-up one would like to see when reading a good romance novel. Still, the spiciness wasn't all that bad.
tldr: felt too much like inc*st and grooming. Too easy to forget they are both over 18. Daddy/little kink paired with step-dad kink is pushing it.. When he raised her from a very little girl as well? Predatory and leaning too into p*dophillia imo.
Oof. I think there is just too much in this that feels like p*do sh*t for me. I could get down with this book, if the way it went down wasn't just.... well, kinda f*cked up to be honest. Some BIG yucky feeling/issues arise for me here. 1. Never addresses what age she became his step daughter out right. We do know that it was VERY YOUNG. That feels so sick and wrong. Going in I was under the impression that this man wouldn't have raised her. But he absolutely did. 2. She acts and speaks like a child... YIKES!!! Her defining personality trait I would say is "childlike". Her actions, her words, her motivations. All extremely infantalized. Given the context it feels very inappropriate. 3. Some of the wording and language just isn't it. The continuation of emphasizing a father and daughter bond is... a choice. The weird child speech is a choice. The descriptions of bodies, actions, and reasons?A choice.
Now, I'm not trying to kink shame. I'm not saying the book IS p*do sh*t (as it isn't. Everyone is over 18.) I'm also not saying anyone who liked it is weird or unsafe. But the vibes are uncomfy, and blurring a line that I wasn't okay with. And frankly, I think a lot of people will not be entirely okay with everything that happens in the book. I guess I just feel that you need to be more careful with kinks that can be used to be harmful. Am I being too touchy? It's possible. But that's my opinion 🤷
I'm not really sure in my rating. I'm between 3–4 stars. Solely on the spice-level. Surely not, because the storyline is so great and the dialogues are amazing.
I mean, the title already says it all, what it is about and which kink it will represent. I don't shame that, and I have read quite a few good ones. The plot was run-of-mill. I have read many of those.
But my issue is, that they really had the daughter/father relationship. It would have been one thing, if she never called him dad/daddy, and they met, when she already was a teenager. But as it seems, she knew him from a young age and never thought of him as anything other than 'dad/daddy'. That makes it tricky. Technically, they aren't related, but there was an existing family bond. But the shift of the relationship and all that, is not logical either. Again, I didn't expect a great story and background. And I got more background/history than many other short stories gave. So, I don't want to complain. But I get it, why this book is not for everyone.
But if I blend that fact out, the spice is there and it is good. I would prefer less focus on the titles 'daddy/my daughter'. But otherwise, it delivered what the true focus of the book was. And that's the smexy/spicy content.
Didn't quite like this one as much as the other May Alder novelettes I've read, but overall I've really been enjoying her writing.
I think I just didn't love that he was turning the h away initially before this takes place because of her mother and that he didn't want to be near either of them. He still loved the h most of all during that time, but I thought it would be because he needed to avoid temptation as she got older (she was 19 during this). It was a little bit about that because she wore revealing clothing, but it really was because she was spending so much of his money and was being a brat (& also because his wife was being terrible to him). At least he did realize that she was just trying to get his attention and didn't know the true state of their finances, but it wasn't as taboo because he didn't really notice her until she started offering herself to him (I did see that some people are weirded by the nature of their relationship, but I've read enough taboo books at this point, that that part didn't phase me one bit.)
Also, I appreciate that the H wasn't the same cookie-cutter attractive guy like most romance novels, but even so I wasn't really into him.
Rating: ⭐️ (if that) Review Title: Missed the Mark & Missed My Vibe
I’ve been binging May Alder books all week and Truckers & Angels had me in a chokehold, so I had high hopes going into this one. Unfortunately… this wasn’t it. The pacing was too fast, the connection felt rushed, and it lacked the depth and burn I’ve come to love in her other work. It didn’t give comfort, it didn’t give chaos, it just gave… confusion.
Maybe it was trying to be cheeky and light, but it ended up feeling hollow. I didn’t feel the chemistry, and I definitely didn’t feel the usual Alder magic. I don’t think I’ll be diving into the rest of the “Cheeky” series unless I’m desperate for a hit of daddy smut and absolutely nothing else is working.
Final verdict: I’m praying for stronger plotlines and pacing next time. Amen.

Holy fucking shit was this novella the epitome of Daddy Issue alright 🤣🤣 And I'm LOVING every second of it 🤣🤣🤣
Now this one has a little bit more vulnerability out of the other novella I've read from May Alder, but then again i think it's the Daddy Issues that's speaking 🤣🤣 But still super TABOO!! Super SPICY!! and super QUICK!!!
