Alina: When I was young, I fell in love with a dark-eyed boy. I never grew out of that crush. Not even when the teenaged boy grew up to be a very dangerous man. Every year it just grew stronger until I finally turned eighteen and forced him to see me as the woman I’d become and not just as his best friend’s little sister. We were so happy together, but then I was taken. Ripped from him in the cruelest of ways. But he’s looking for me. I know he is, and I know he’ll burn the world down to get to me. I just need to hold on a little bit longer.
Matvey: I searched for her for two years. Each day felt like a lifetime. I was losing my mind, imagining all the things that were being done to her. But I finally found her. And now it’s time to bring her home. They took her from me, and they’re going to pay. I’m getting Alina back, and then we’re going to set the world on fire and watch them burn.
This is the conclusion to the 5-book Melnikov Bratva series. Each book features a different brother, and although each love story will be complete, the storyline started in the first book will not be completed until book 5. These books should be read in order.
This is a very steamy dark Bratva romance, and it does contain triggering content. Please see warning at beginning of novel and read responsibly.
This was good. I knew Matvey and Alina's story would be the best in this series, and this one didn't disappoint, especially with the comeuppance of the villains.
I love how Matvey waited, fought for, and supported Alina all throughout this book. He didn't stop looking for her for the last two years that she was gone. He never lost hope that one day he and his brothers would eventually find her and bring her back home. It's really admirable how he has been with her in every way and the assurances that he provides her every time her demons appear. I knew back then, even from the first book, that Matvey's the best of these guys. The dedication, faithfulness, and love for Alina definitely stood the test of time. Also, I loved how he saved all of his firsts for her and that he never gave other women a thought.
As for Alina, I admire her strength and resilience to get back up again after the horrible things she went through for the last two years. I have to admit that I find some of the things she experienced difficult to read. How she never lost hope and her mind throughout that ordeal is so unbelievable. I'm so sad but also proud of her for not letting the memories ruin her life. I love that she didn't hesitate to accept all the help being offered to her and that she's actually grateful for her family. I think it's not easy to let people in after the trauma she lived through, but she sees their efforts in a positive light and welcomes their support and love while she's healing. I'm just really proud of her, and her character definitely gained my respect.
While I do love the plot, I find this way too cheesy for my liking. Don't get me wrong, I love some sweet moments, but I think this book is way OTT with that. The love professions were too much, imo, but idk, maybe it's to show the readers how much Alina and Matvey greatly love one another. 😅 Also, the mundane and domestic things happening not just with the MCs but with the side characters kind of took a lot of focus. I wish they didn't have too much of an appearance here.
Anyway, setting aside my issues, this was really good. It was heartbreaking but also healing at the same time. I also enjoyed reading the characters and their lives years later. This is definitely worth reading.

This book was absolutely amazing. Matvey stole my damn heart just like I knew he would. I have been anxiously awaiting his story and his happily ever after since I first met him in Romans book. The dark, quiet, broken brother made me fall absolutely in love with him.
The love this man has for Alina is beautiful. The patience and kindness he shows this woman after she went through the most traumatic thing someone could go through spoke so much about his character.
“I can’t breathe unless you’re taking in the same air, and my heart doesn’t beat unless yours beats with it” 😭😭😭😭😭 THIS MANNN❤️
I cried so many times throughout this book. Sad tears, but also happy ones.
I’m so glad to finally get introduced to Alina and really understand what she went through in those two years she was gone. It really is tragic and hard to read about, but her character development through out the book is amazing to read.
The romance in this book isnt like the others. It isn’t the instalove the other brothers and their wives have. It’s a love that was built throughout childhood and was never forgotten or given up on. And it only grew after they are reunited. It was absolutely beautiful to see. Matvey is seriously book husband goals. Not even exaggerating. He is a completely different man for Alina than what we have been introduced to through out the other books. It made me so damn happy to read.
This book also had so many hilarious moments. The banter between the brothers, especially involving Vitaly was gold 😂 That man had me laughing my ass off in this book. I also loved that we saw more of Dominic. I can’t wait to read his book. He reminds me a lot of Roman in a way and I can’t wait to see what his story is.
Sonja Grey, Author you truly outdid yourself with this book.
Reading the other 4 books, this was all I was looking forward to and it was worth the wait. I loved this.
The brothers finally get their sister back and Matvey gets his soulmate back in his arms. Two years of trauma, can Alina really overcome it all and get a happy life with the man she’s been in love with since she was a kid
- Dark romance - Mafia - Morally grey, obssessed, ott hero - Virgin hero - Hurt/comfort - Traumatised heroine
This is the fifth book in an interconnected series that should be read in order. CW/TW: Sex trafficking, rape, violence, murder, torture, trauma
Matvey & Alina Matvey is the perfect book boyfriend. Neeever did he do anything but support, reassure and show Alina how much he loves her and how she’s worthy of anything and everything. Swoony and so sweet. My baby Alina got her revenge at last🔪 Her character development was great and I really loved her. The absolute trust between Alina and Matvey > The pain they both suffered. They deserve everything.
“Don’t go there, baby.” “I was your first in every way that counts. As far as I’m concerned, we both just lost our virginity.”
“I will never be without you again, malishka,”“If you go, I go.” “Matvey,” “Don’t bother arguing with me. There’s no changing my mind. Your last breath will be my last breath. My heart stops with yours.”
“I don’t deserve you,” “You deserve so much better, but I’m afraid you’re stuck with me because I can’t ever let you go.”
I love their family. The brothers, the wives and Dominic. Pls tell me that man is getting a book.
„Did you really think I could ever be with someone else? You think I could just forget about you and what you were going through and fuck some random woman? God, baby, you're all I've thought about. Every second of every goddamn day, I've thought of nothing else. No other woman has touched me, and no other woman ever will“
„I love you, and nothing you could tell me will change that. If you decide you don't want to be with me, then I'll stay in your life as your friend and hope like hell you change your mind one day, but I will never be with anyone else, because for me, it's you or nothing. It's always only ever been you, Alina.“
Authors take notes from this, bc men whores are not tolerated!!
4.5 ⭐️ such a good ending for this series! i loved all the couples so much but lev & jolene and matvey & alina are definitely my favs. i cant wait to start born into sin!
❤️🔥Mafia (batrava)romance ✨Childhood lovers ❤️🔥heavy trauma ✨ brother’s Best friend ❤️🔥 obsessed MMC ✨ he has never been with anyone but her (virgin MMC) ❤️🔥 he is only comfortable with her touching him
First of all the way, The MMC was ultimately obsessed with the FMC. OMG !! He would literally jump off a cliff if she asked him to do so. I loved how he took care of her and how he didn’t push her and respected her. she was literally his everything. I would have loved if we had gotten a flash backs of them falling in love or something because I think I would’ve felt their connection more yk. I would have also loved to see more of the fmc’s relationship with her brother like I felt there wasn’t enough connection between them. However the relationship between the MMC and his friends ( brothers ) was so sweet. I loved their banter . I didn’t feel that in the FMC’s case unfortunately. I honestly would have loved to see her in a good friendship .
To conclude, read this if you want an obsessed MMC how says all the right things but don’t expect much
I was so exited for this book, I had been waiting so long to read their story and I was dissatisfied.
Don’t get me wrong there is nothing wrong with their love story it’s heartbreaking, gut wrenching and beautiful.
But the book was too cringy… I almost dnf it. Like who need to read every 2 pages how much the MMC loves the FMC more than life itself. The book was too much around how much they loved each other and not enough on how they do.
Also how do you live what she has lived for 2 years and be almost fine 2 weeks after? The timeline was so bizarre.
I finished it because I love the brothers and enjoyed the series but it took me so long to read I was scared I was going to go into a reading slump.
I’m sorry :/
Tho the extended epilogue with a pov from every brothers was an amazing touch and I loved loved that. Although again too much smut
“I’m terrified this is a dream. I’m scared to death I’ve finally lost my mind and snapped.” “I’m here. Do you feel that?” “Yes. I feel it.” “This is real, Matvey, and if it’s not, then I hope like hell neither one of us ever wakes up again.”
Back to the Bratva! Took a detour from organized crime. But here I am am back to the Bratva brotherhood.
This was a good blend of crime, darkness, killing sprees, and all things you can think of that come along with being in this line of work. There was even a little bit of chuckle humor mixed in. However, it's not for the light of heart. Alina and Matvey's love story is a very rough one. There is love, lots of it. But it's a very rocky and emotional one on how their love story unravels.
So I have been anticipating this book for soo long I think I built it up in my head too much. As much as I liked it and I loved Matvey, I didn’t love it as much as I thought I would. If I’m being honest and even surprised myself, my favorite book in this series is Vitaly’s book. Who would have guessed the manwhore of the group would have been my favorite but there it is.
I have no complaints about the characters. I loved them. Especially Matvey. He’s literally the perfect book boyfriend, there isn’t a single thing I would change about him. I mean the man was a virgin and Alina took all of his firsts even his first kiss!! He was like early twenties at that point and had never kissed anyone! So I love that he was so inexperienced and has only done anything with Alina. I would have been disappointed otherwise.
But I just feel like this book was missing something. Idk I just wanted some tension I guess with the whole Alina being in love with Matvey since she was 10 and he was always like a big brother to her. So I was waiting for that like forbidden aspect but there wasn’t any. I get that main point of the book was finding her and her healing so I’m not knocking any of that.
Also Matvey was so dark and broody from the beginning which I honestly loved. He was dark and broody before Alina got taken. She was the only one to ever make him smile and laugh and talk even. And then she was taken he went into his shell even more, but when they found her it was like he was a whole new person. I get he was happy to have her back but even the guy before she was taken was gone. No more mysterious Matvey. He smiled and laughed and talked soo much it was just like a weird switch to me. I wanted to see the Matvey who only had those reactions to Alina and no one else if that makes sense. Idk it just wasn’t what I expected.
I also didn’t like how the extended epilogue had a different sex scene for all 5 couples. I felt like it was overkill.
Ahh I know I’m definitely in the minority here and probably one of the only people not giving this 5 stars and that’s my fault for hyping it up so much in my head but yeah I still really love this series!
I’m super excited for Dominic’s book and the next gen series!!
NO CHEATING NO OP DRAMA NO THIRD ACT BREAK UP VIRGIN MMC FMC SA ON PAGE AND REMEMBERED SEX TRAFFICKING TORTURE MURDER
🖤If you've delved into the series, then you know just how spine-tingling and gripping the content can be! The darkness that permeates the pages is a crucial element of what makes it such a compelling read! 🖤
In this book, we have a broken but strong FMC and a MMC who is obsessed, possessive and willing to set the world on fire just to see his love smile. 🔥
Alina is so inspiring! Despite her struggles, she refuses to let the past define her and is determined to keep moving forward. Her resilience and unwavering spirit are absolutely incredible!🙌 And let me tell you, there's nothing more heartwarming than seeing Matvey, the badass Bratva boss, standing by her side and providing unwavering support in every possible way! 🥰
The story had me on the edge of my seat as I watched Alina face all sorts of challenges and battles on a daily basis. But what truly moved me was the way the story depicted how she overcame them with the love and support of her family and Matvey. It was a beautiful reminder of just how much of a difference love and support can make in someone's life!🥺
The constant ribbing and playful jabs between the brothers and the trusty minivan 🚐 added a whole new level of fun and humor to the journey. And Finn! I love that dog so much 🐶❤️ Their family dynamic was truly a sight to behold, and the banter was nothing short of hilarious. It was the perfect recipe for an unforgettable adventure!
The ending was absolutely delightful! It couldn't have been any better! 💕💖
Thank you so much Sonja, for sharing this incredible story with us! I can't wait to see what other thrilling adventures you have in store for us, taking us deep into the dangerous and alluring worlds of the bratva, mafia and romance. Keep them coming! ✍️🏼📚
O!! M!! G!! I don't even know if I can find the right words to form a sentence on how freaking good this final book was!!! I couldn't stop reading it and, like a pint of Ben & Jerry's ice cream, finished it in one sitting!
The lovestory of Matvey and Alina is truly the sweetest and gut-wrenching I've ever read!! 😭🔥 There were certain parts that made me seriously ugly cry and felt like my heart was being ripped out of my chest! 💔 I fist pumped the air and about fell out of my chair with the way she eventually got vengeance! 🔪
I also couldn't get enough of the banter between the brothers - it had me laughing out loud! The whole minivan thing had me rolling! 🤣
Cheers to you, Sonja Grey! Through your freakishly amazing talented writing, you created a world that immediately made me addicted, grabbed me by the ladyballs, squeezed my heartstrings, and made me instantly fall in love with these hot mafia guys! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE ARC!!!
I'm so upset this series is over! I've grown so attached to all of these characters that I may just need to stare out my window today wondering how my life is going to move on without another Melnikov Bratva book! I will NEVER EVER stop recommending this series to anyone who will listen!! ❤️
This is the first novel that I have read from the author and she writes very well! definitely up in my alley~
I love love this.
Safety:
heroine was kidnapped and sa-ed and tortured for years by this very vile man. (he got what he deserved). she was also was touched by the vile man's brother in her private area using a finger and threatened to sa-ed her too. (attempted)
Hero waited for heroine. during the separation (when she was kidnapped) he never even think of looking at others.
I kind of forget if the hero was the heroine's first kiss but the heroine is the hero's first and ONLY kiss.
Both are virgins :) HEA
I wish we get more of the flashbacks of when the heroine is secretly pinning on the hero. that would be so so cute and really complete the story for me.
"Everything," she says on a soft sigh. "I want everything with you. I want a family, and I want to see you holding our baby. I want to raise a family with you, Matvey. I want it all. I don't care how long it takes, or how many visits with Dr. Taylor or whatever else I need to do to get myself mentally where I need to be, but I'm going to do it. I want to do it."
This book was a culmination of love, perseverance and family....bringing Alina home. To say I cried ugly tears would be an understatement but with that being said - they were absolutely necessary to the story line and indicative of how much I loved the way these characters came to life in this story. There is heartache, there is happiness, there is laughter, there is justice, there is hope .... it's all there and woven into the story in a beautiful way.
Maetvy's love is pure. It's a forever kind of love, and he says, "Loving you is a part of me, Alina, so deeply embedded that I couldn't survive without it." The way he loves her is beautiful.
I love the way the other characters' story lines are mentioned. I love the epilogue and extended epilogue so we can see a glimpse of their future.
I'm sad that I don't have another book to look forward to read in this series. Sonja Grey has outdone herself with this one. ENJOY!!
5 fucking stars for the biggest simp of all time (yes Matvey that's you).
This book was so good goddamn. Matvey had me giggling and kicking my feet lmao. He spent 2 years looking for his woman day and night and he has never touched or even looked at another woman (boomshakalaka).
“Did you really think I could ever be with someone else? You think I could just forget about you and what you were going through and fuck some random woman? God, baby, you’re all I’ve thought about. Every second of every goddamn day, I’ve thought of nothing else. No other woman has touched me, and no other woman ever will.”
A great finale to a great series. I received this book as an ARC last night and finished in about 3 hours. This book was a great way to finish the series, tying together all the loose ends from the previous 4 books. It was great to see Matvey and Alinas HEA and to watch Alina rebuild herself and find her strength again after everything she went through.
Absolutely love this series and will definitely read it over and over again.
Rating-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Heat-🌶️🌶️🌶️.5 Range of emotions-😭😍😋 Ending-hea POV-dual Pet names in russian😍 No ow Virgin mmc Self harm
This book follows Alina and Matvey. The conclusion of the series. They have been searching for her for the past couple years. I did not think they were going to rescue her so soon in the book. So that was a surprise. I love how he got her presents for her birthday and every holiday, even though she was missing .On scene sexual assault(multiple). There are flashbacks where she will go into detail about her assault. Sex trafficking. FMC was a virgin when she was originally taken. she has been practically starved, and her capture basically made her eat like a dog. On all fours. And now that she is back with her family, she finds it hard to eat because she associates it with the humiliation. So Matvey starts hand feeding her. it is so wonderful to see Matvey smiling and laughing in this book. It’s a complete change from previous books. The banter between the brothers is top notch. Matvey is so patient with her as she slowly starts to discover sex is not shameful or painful. I am sad to see the series end. But it ended on such a perfect note. I cannot wait to see Dominic’s book. Tropes- touch her and die, mafia, trauma, revenge, childhood friends to lovers
Times i cried-6
things that I wish I would have seen- when they found out they were pregnant. A little bit more interaction between Roman and Alina.
“ You don’t need to worry about anything ever again, because I’m going to take care of you, Alina. For the rest of my fucking life, I’m going to love you and take care of you.”🥰😍
"Your last breath will be my last breath. My heart stops with yours.”😍🥰
“Your scars don’t bother me. They’re a part of you, and I love every damn part of you, Alina.”😍🥹
“Give me your fingers,” he growls against my lips. “Let me taste you, malishka.”😍☺️😋

First and foremost: I was bawling my eyes out every single page.
I gotta say.. “Paved in Fire” is heartbreakingly beautiful. The way everything from Vitaly’s book led to them finding Alina was so tragically beautiful. It broke my heart how pained he was when he saw her in Katya’s sketches.
It’s such a breath of fresh air whenever a scene comes up with Dr. Bianchi. The gentleness of him is such a welcoming gift for Alina, and even Matvey as he reassured him she didn’t try to commit s**cide.
“Paved in Hate” hurt my heart, “Paved in Fire” broke it. I’ve only ever read two other books with on-page r*pe (one of them being “Devil from Moscow” -also by Sonja Grey) and it’s emotionally exhausting but the happy ending makes it tolerable.
Sonja writes so beautifully. Vitaly’s book is the fastest read I’ve ever accomplished (because I was so desperate to get to Matvey and Alina’s book). His comedic timing is so perfect throughout every book in the series.
The foreshadowing in the dynamic between Lev and Dominic is so good [knowing his book is the first in the next-gen series]. And the banter is hilarious, more so when Vitaly also bickers with Dominic.
Alina’s trauma is so potent and heartbreaking. And Matvey’s unwavering love and gentleness with her is just so warming. I feel like this book had everything I love in a dark romance- tragedy, he saves her, she hurts herself, he k*lls for her and she takes part in it.
[edited- having read for a second time] Micro-tropes:
-he shoots men as they are lined up to be executed while carrying her wrapped in his arms -they off men together and then he eats her p**** -she grinds on his abs (I got to say- Sonja is consistent with multiple of her fmcs and mmcs not going straight into the s*x, but giving priority to h*mping and it’s one of my absolute favorite microtropes).
“Matvey’s never been an easy smiler. He’s actually pretty damn stingy with them, but he’s always given them so freely to me.” 🖤
I've been waiting for Matvey's book since I've read the first one, and it didn't disappoint. I always felt sad for Matvey while reading the first 4 books. He had to watch his brothers find their happiness while knowing his love was out there dealing with the worst types of people. Although, he was very happy for his brothers, you couldn't help feel for him.
Alina was amazing. She was so strong and courageous. While, she had an understandingly hard time once found and rescued, she was able to take her power back. She didn't let them win. Her ability to live and love after everything she went through was inspiring.
I love how Matvey gave Alina her power back. Those two are relationship goals! I loved how happy Matvey was in this book. He was so patient with Alina while he helped her heal. He treated her like she was his purpose in life and I loved it!
Overall, this was an amazing book and Sonja Grey couldn't have done it any better!
This book f*cked me up.. and I knew it was going to. I hesitated reading this because I knew it was going to. And it wasn't even the bad parts.. and there were a lot of bad parts.. but the parts that truly wrecked me were the sweet and attentive and patient and tender moments that made me ugly cry. That man should be everyone's goal to have as a partner. And that dang minivan had me dying laughing so thanks Sonja for that comedic relief because everytime it made me laugh.
This book is considered standalone but the overall plot runs from book 1 to this book. I wouldn't read this until you have read books 1 through 4 not only are you going to be missing key details and plots but you're going to miss the individual storylines in each book and all the characters throughout, and the flashbacks you get from each of them. And last you're not going to be as emotionally invested in this book unless you've read the others and that's where the true magic is.. being invested in the finale and bringing her home.
ARC review Paved in Fire is the prefect end to a perfect series. Matvey goes from cold, sad, and distant fifth brother to a shining star. Alina’s story is heartbreaking and devastating but watching her heal from the trama was beautiful. I prefer strong FMC and even with all the cruel and despicable things she went through she found her strength. The epilogue was a beautiful bow that ties all five books together perfectly. Everyone got there happy ending they all deserved.
Also Finn was the perfect addition to Alina’s story.

Matvey finally gets his happy ending. It was bittersweet to see this series come to an end. I have really enjoyed seeing the characters in each of the books get their own happy ending. The books is fast paced, spicy, and has plenty of moments that are laugh out. I am never disappointed in Sonja's books.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
childhood love And they both heal little by little, the love of these two is so great! Just the right amount of everything! Sex, revenge, love, heartbreak!
