The Darkness Duet #2

Darkness Falls

Rate this book
Everything's changed.

When I met the Monroe brothers it was under unfavorable circumstances. I was supposed to be their revenge, but it blossomed into so much more. They became mine, just as I became theirs. Now, days with them feel like a distant dream.

I spent so many years running from my inevitable fate, but my father tracked me down and dragged me back to Rogue. He aims to marry me off to his second-in-command to ensure his legacy. Power and greed fuel them both.

My future seems bleak, but I've survived worse. My men are looking for me, right?

Kyler, Barrett, and Sebastian are the only hope I have left.

I have to believe they will save me from this hell. When they do, my father, and Damien will pay for everything they've done. I will watch with pride and dignity as everything my father spent his life building crashes and burns.

The only legacy I will give Rogue is its end.

i enjoyed this duet so much, this second book wrapped up the story so well. i wish there was more of callie and the monroe brothers because i was obsessed! callie turned into such a complete bad a$$ and i was so living for it!! The twists and twists kept my mouth dropped every time! the truth behind gabriel’s past & rogue, damien and even avery had me shocked!! i lived for how it all unwrapped!!
it was so easy to get lost into this world with these characters and i will miss braxton falls, as well as my 3 fictional men Kyler, Barrett & Sebastian.
KM baker did not miss with the spicy scenes in this book AS ALWAYS!
so thankful to have been able to arc read this and cannot wait to purchase my copy!!

After a quick refresh of the first book I have to say I loved it.

I think I love the Monroe brothers not that I didn't like them before but I just total fell in love with them in this installment. I can understand why Callie wants them all instead of just one. Not that I think that they would let her choose.

I really didn't see the Avery twist coming but I was all for it. I'm glad that it worked out and that Callie isn't made that she didn't get to met Avery parents.

I would love for in a few years we get an update on the Monroe family with little Sebastian, Kyler, and Barrett's running around.

This was incredible!

I absolutely love the dynamic between the characters and I feel as though they wouldn’t have been as close if it wasn’t for the major events that unfolded in Evading Darkness.

Callie went from being confused and unable to handle herself in certain situations to having more self-confidence than she could have ever imagined. It was bittersweet reading the transformation as it wasn’t something she quickly accomplished.

Good freaking job, Kiley! Sooooo proud of how far you have come in such a short time. I cannot wait to read even more of what your brain comes up with!

She wraps up this duet is such an amazing and beautiful way, she makes you feel all the feels all the way until the last page!

I ate this up and tried to savior it as much as I could, I did not want to leave these character, but I am so happy with the way K.M. wrote their ending!

I can't wait to have my trophy on my bookshelf! I will be buying the minute the listing is live on amazon!

Revenge, amazing. Loved how everyone’s story was told & so fulfilling. Such a fan of the different POV. Also wild about Callie & Avery, definitely didn’t see that one coming. I wasn’t a fan on how repetitive it was reading “my men” and about Barrett’s piercings each time. That was just me being picky 🫣 overall a great read!

INCREDIBLE .. worth waiting for!

Darkness Falls is book 2 in the Darkness duet by KM Baker and immediately takes off where we left off in Evading Darkness. Callie and the hot and equally different Monroe brothers are back for more intensity, more debauchery, more tragedy. Book 1 left us all in a HUGE cliffhanger.. book 2 will answer those questions AND MORE!! Lost of shocking twists and turns in this incredible storyline!

First of all, I want to give a HUGE thank you to the author for allowing me to ARC read this amazing story!! I can’t give too much away because you guys need to read this duet!! If you’ve read it and have been patiently waiting for all the unknowns to be clarified.. then on December 10th .. read this book!! If I could give it more than 5 stars I would!! This story LITERALLY had me chewing my nails and kept me on the edge of my seat with the action and the intensity as well as turning up the air conditioning during the winter time cuz the SPICE!! Omg the SPICE was SPICY AF!! Callie and her men are seriously on fucking fire!! The things she lets them do to her are sweltering hot. And let’s have a moment for Avery and her interest, Reese?? Omg the fuck and run?!! I LOVED IT!!! Ate it up!! A phenomenal story from beginning to end. I am in love with the Monroe brothers. All of em. Seb and his broodiness, Ky and his cute, emotional way, and Barrett .. cuz Barrett is just Barret.. a little bit of Ky and Seb all rolled into one.. with a knife kink. SCREAMING!! Love them and love this duet!! 5 stars!!

Darkness Fell and so did I.

This book was the perfect conclusion to the duet. The evolution of the characters was therapeutic and very satisfying. Book one wet my appetite and book two satiated it. I thoroughly enjoyed the why choose trope and the way that the author portrayed it in her writing.

I looooved the development of characters and the fact that we got a peek into their pasts and saw what makes them tick. The strong dominant Monroe brothers who came from different backgrounds and were brought together by the love of their foster mother had their walls slowly decimated by Callie who was able to love one just as purely as she loved the other despite how different they were.

As much as her love and affection healed them their contribution to the dynamic not only healed but empowered her which enabled her to break free of the psychological hold her dad and the society had on her. Having someone who sees the scars, sees the cracks in the armor and says let me love you through it let me watch you break so you can rebuild and be whole again is sometimes what I needed.

I thoroughly enjoyed this duet and would recommend it be added to your TBR.

This one picks up right where Evading Darkness left off and woah what a ride this one will take you on. If you thought the rollercoaster gave you whiplash before, ohhhh, you have no idea what's in store for you here.

Callie, oh Callie girl. She deserves the world, and her world is just constantly crashing down, and she can't ever seem to catch a break. I just want to reach in, pull her out, and give her some semblance of life.

Those men... still absolutely delicious as they were previously. But uhm...wayyyyy freaking more now 🥵 each of them, woah, grab yo BOB because you're going to need it to keep up with them.

The lies, the secrets, the twists and turns had my jaw on the floor more times than I could even count. This book is just so incredible, and I'm so happy for their story to close out the way it did!

It feels weird to be writing this review while I’m talking with you on a TikTok live, but here we are.

I remembered reading Evading Darkness in October as part of my “Halloween”-challenge and I couldn’t wait to be able to read this one. I can tell you, it will not disappoint!

This book includes so many more layers, so many new emotions and so many gasping scenes (not just the smutty ones). I felt so much more connected to all of the characters since their backstories were just insane which made me not wanting to put this book down.

AN ARC READ. I just LOVE duet books first of all. It felt like such a great end to the story and just enough spice and substance. The characters are BELIEVABLE and the CHEMISTRY IS JUST OFF THE CHARTS. I thought the pages would burst into flames while I was reading.

I'm not normally a poly type of gal, but the relationships just WORK. The secret society storyline is now something I'm a big fan of! Love my morally gray and black men who will get revenge for their lady.

Read part one FIRST of course.

ARC Read - This was such a cute wrap up to Callie and the Monroe Brothers story..

Not only did we get answers to the cliffhanger from Book 1, but we got additional twists, more insights into Rogue and full storyline wrap ups - Feels like all of the different characters were given closure.

As this is the second book, it starts dark picking up right where we left off in book 1, but does bring HEAs.

Follow-up book from Evading Darkness, you must read book 1 as it ends on a cliffhanger.
I really enjoyed this. It's full of twists and turns, hella spicy, and a determined and strong fmc who has 3 tattooed morally grey men right under her thumb.
They are all out for revenge and won't stop until the job is done.

Dark romance with plenty of TW's

Wow, and I thought the first one was bad. This was so close to being a DNF as it was so crap. The story line was ridiculous, and I stand by my statement on the first book that the FMC is delusional. She went from weak and pathetic to a falsely confident psychopath. This isn’t a strong woman, this is someone who needs to be locked up in a psych ward.

Nothing more than your average wattpad story written by a teenager. Everything last for about 10 seconds then on to the next thing, there’s no real scene building. It just this happened and then this… and then this… and then this.

I had the opportunity to ARC read Darkness Falls and I went in with high hopes after adoring the first book in the series. Unfortunately, this one didn’t live up to my expectations and left me feeling a bit disappointed.

While the writing style remains engaging and the world holds so much potential but the execution of the plot felt rushed. I was eager to dive deeper into the complexities of the society and the intriguing dynamics introduced in book one but these elements were overshadowed by the frequent spicy scenes. While I don’t mind a steamy moment here and there the pacing of these scenes appearing almost every second or third chapter made the story feel imbalanced and detracted from the overall narrative.

I found myself yearning for more depth and development in the plot.

Despite this, I do still enjoy K.M. Baker’s storytelling. If you’re looking for something heavy on the spice then you will love this.

WoW...
It was a long wait. I read book 1 of this duet in January, but now finally I got the honor to read book 2 🤩 And it definitely didn't disappoint.

First, you need to read book 1 before you read this one, it is a duet, and book 2 starts at the cliffhanger of book 1. It was a dramatic cliffhanger. So, you can be glad you can read both books without waiting 😉

It is a dark romance and with that, there are A LOT of TW/CW. Be aware of it. It is VERY 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ Yes, I did 5🌶️ because that's what it is. Even with all the plot. And it's a lot of plot 😉 There is so much happening.
And OMG the plot twist. God, it nearly kicked me out 😱 I never saw that coming.

I loved all three men. They are all special. Every one of his own kind. Not just by character, no also about their 🌶️ preferences 😉
I don't know if I could have chosen just one? But that was never a question for Callie 😁
Kyler is the emotional one. He is the "cute" one. He loves to praise.
Sebastian is the dominant one. He's the one who loves degradation. He loves punishment. He is also Mr. Grumpy. He has a lot of problems with Callie.
Barrett is between Kyler and Sebastian. He loves pain. And he loves his 🔪 But he isn't the extremely dominant like Sebastian and he isn't completely in degradation.

But they all aren't the "nice guys" when it comes to their jobs 😎

Did I like everything that happened in the book? Definitely not! That would be crazy 🙈 Would I have liked things in another way? Sure. Would that be better? No 🙈 It's again a book where I'm happy not to be the one who decided what will happen 😎 The way the book is, is the way it should be. Period.

I'm having a lot of trouble putting my finger on why I didn't feel engaged in the plot. Maybe it was a little too simple to overcome every barrier that really didn't seem too bad as they bounced back so quickly and just had sex emediatly afterwards.

What an ending book to a duet! After waiting almost a year for the second book of The Darkness Duet I was finally able to get my hands on Darkness Falls, being in this universe after all that time was strange and refreshing, like getting to know the characters again and working out all of the details of what went wrong at the ending of the first book.

So much happened in this book, and it has taken me a while to get my head wrapped around it, we joined Callie and the Monroe brothers; Sebastian, Kyler, and Barrett, once again. I loved all of these characters so much in the first book. They had been through so much in their lives, and Callie was put through quite a bit in this book.

It was touch and go through this book if Callie would be okay after being taken back to her father's compound Rogue. I was just in a constant pit of shock. Every chapter had something else that surprised me. I saw absolutely nothing coming. The author did an amazing job with this duet. This is definitely a duet I won't forget, like put me into Callie's place (for the men, not the torture she went through). All I want is to potentially see all of the characters again at some point, see if everyone is doing okay after the hell all those women went through especially Callie, her mum and friend Avery, those three deserve the world.

Darkness Falls by K.M. Baker is the intense, heart-wrenching finale to The Darkness Duet, and it delivers on all the darkness, redemption, and high-stakes romance fans of the genre crave.

From the moment you re-enter the world of Rogue and the Monroe brothers, the pace refuses to slow down. Callie’s mission of revenge spirals into something far more complex when she realizes her captors/brothers are not just pawns—but deeply flawed human beings with loyalties, regrets, and love to give. The tension between wanting vengeance and craving connection drives the story forward, and K.M. Baker doesn’t shy away from making those emotions messy.

What really stands out is Callie’s evolution. She begins this book as a woman who’s been deeply wounded and hardened by her father’s cruelty—a survivor who trusts no one. By the end, she’s still strong, but she’s learned that survival doesn’t mean shutting everyone out; sometimes it means risking heartbreak for belonging. The Monroe brothers, meanwhile, are complex men who switch between protectors, aggressors, and soft corners, often in the same chapter.

If I have one caveat, it’s that the dark romance elements are very dark—emotional manipulation, violence, and power plays are integral to the story. This isn’t a light romance by any stretch. But if that intensity is your jam, Darkness Falls offers a deeply emotional payoff, character growth wrapped in chaos, and a romance that feels earned only because it survives fire.

Darkness Falls by K.M. Baker
ARC Review: 4/5 Stars
*This is book 2 in the Darkness Duet*

Holy shit… this was such a great second part to the first book in this duet, I am so happy to finally get a conclusion to Callie & The Monroe Brother’s story! Also, I am so freaking happy that this picked right up from the point of the cliffhanger in book 1 and holy shit that wait was so worth it!!!
The story was absolutely filled with the best twists and turns, surprises and tons of the best and most beautiful action described scenes ever, K.M Baker you have done it again! And can we get a round of applause for the revenge in this story because damn it was so needed and oh so good and oh so freeing for the MC because of the bullshit caused by her family. I was very heartbroken for Callie throughout the first book, but it wasn’t even just her, it was poor Kyler and the other guys too, they have been through a lot and it shows.

Overall, this journey was super needed in the healing of our characters and it was beautiful, painful, and full of darning revenge that led to finally some happiness. Everything about this read was great, and it helped that it was as fast paced as the first book too. Highly recommend this spicy romance read!!!

I honestly have so many words for this book. First off I wanna say how I was not expecting half the stuff that the Author wrote. I was really impressed with the way this book played out with the twist and turns to say the least I was definitely on edge. The way Callie comes back stronger than ever and gets her revenge is so satisfying. And the way the revenge went was honestly badass, Callie really came out on top with three men standing beside her. On another note, I really liked how all the men are emotionally available. How they all talk openly about things. It was heart breaking what each of the Men went through but so heartwarming the way Callie helped heal them all in some way. Now I was very surprised by the added POVs from Damien and Avery. It wasn’t overwhelming either with the multiple POVs just a little sprinkle here and there to give a better understanding of where everyone was at and what was going through their heads. But I will say I really enjoyed the scene with Avery that I’m pretty sure unlocked something I’m eager to explore in reading. To wrap it up, this was amazingly written and I feel it was outside the box. I could not put this book down for the life of me. This book has the perfect amount of plot and smut. Truly truly amazing story

Wow!

Can you imagine living with the guilt that your mother died trying to help you escape ONLY to then find out that SHE IS ALIVE?!?!

Like Geez!! Talk about a way to start of a book.

Julian/Damien and her father are determined to break her and punish her. But she refuses to give in and fights until the very end knowing that the Monroe brothers will find her. The closer she gets to the wedding day, the more she starts to lose hope. But they do show up, and they get her and her mother out!

With the help of Sebastian, she gets some revenge in for her father and kill him.

Going back with the boys, they start planning how to get revenge on Damien and how to destroy Rogue so that she never has to live in fear or on the run.

Damien, not knowing when to accept defeat, does everything he can to bring Callie back, not because he wants her or cares for her, but because he was humiliated. He plans to frame her for her father's death (which isn't wrong) and then punish and use her until he gets an heir.

To do this, he must first get her, so he plans to kidnap her best friend and use her as bait.

The flaw for him is that all the pain and torture they've inflicted on her, didn't break her. It made her stronger and she was able to get her revenge.
