Cocky. Grumpy. Arrogant. Miles Cameron just got the promotion he's been working towards his whole life. However, when he wakes up after a night of celebrating in Sin City he finds himself legally tied to a stranger by wedding bands. Desperate to protect his newly acquired promotion, he concocts a plan to convince his new wife to pretend they are happily married. Between his career and his past, Miles has no interest in a relationship. But under the guise of their marriage, distinguishing what's real and what's not proves to be more difficult than he anticipated. Sweet. Loyal. People Pleaser. Camila Sanchez never expected her life to spiral so far out of control when she impulsively quit her job. But when she wakes up married to the hottest lawyer on the West Coast, her world gets turned upside down. When self-doubt sets in she agrees to an arrangement involving moving in with her new husband. Her only goal is to spend the coming weeks, figuring out what her next move is. But when the lines between reality and pretend begin to blur she might find herself falling for him instead. Bound by an unexpected marriage, Miles and Camila find that through banter, tension, and vulnerability, what started as something of convenience could lead to something more. Maybe even something real.
Michelle Carrero lives in Southern California with her husband, two children, and an 80-pound gentle giant, black lab. She found her love for reading one summer while on bed rest and writing her own stories quickly became her greatest dream and passion.
When Michelle isn't reading or writing she can usually be found watching Formula 1, drinking mass amounts of coffee, or having movie nights with her family.
“I thought it didn’t matter because we ended up together. I would never regret that. But you were right, if I could go back and do it all over I would find another way. I would have given you those papers that day and stalked you like a normal person.” — This was cute and made me laugh sometimes. That is all 🖤
It was a decent book, especially considering that it's a debut novel. The potential is there, but of course, there's always room for improvement. I’m not an author, and I can only imagine the effort that goes into writing a story like this. That's why I truly respect and appreciate those people who share their work with the world. ☺️
With that being said, I do love the sweet moments and things the MCs shared here. I like that at the end they learned to communicate with one another, and they decided to stay together.
But I have to be honest that Miles (36) really tested my patience for a big part of the book. He's always one step forward and ten steps back because of his issues. He's lucky because Camila (27) was understanding with his push and pull treatment. 🤷♀️
Also, there's a lot of telling rather than showing in the story. And this kinda took out my concentration in the romance, thus making it difficult to connect somehow with the MCs or even feel their chemistry. Ngl, I did struggle in it because the tension just wasn't there. 🫣
It's tough to put into words, but it seemed like it was all set up to show they had chemistry, but I never really felt it. This is insta-something, and they "fell" for each other quickly, but they hardly hang out. So how can they claim to have feelings when they barely even talk? And if they do, it's always Camila doing the talking because getting Miles to open up feels like pulling teeth every time she attempts a conversation with him. 🫣
I’m all for a grumpy-sunshine pairing, but it really took Miles a while to warm up to Camila. He's not a jerk, which is great, but he definitely took his sweet time to come around. Although he kept saying in his POV that he can't stop thinking about her and he needs to do something about it, his words and actions don't really match up.
Camila is the typical ray of sunshine, chill, easygoing, and very understanding. She's got her own insecurities as well and her anxiety can make things tough sometimes, but she always tries her best not to let it take over her life. And if I'm being honest, I think she's way too good for him, but maybe that's just me being a bit biased since I always love MCs who are warm to others.
Anyway, I won't get into too much detail anymore, but it's still a good read. Not too shabby for a debut novel, and I bet the author will keep getting better with her future stories. I'm really curious about Taylor's book, and I want to find out more about her. 🤭
Book info: - Vegas wedding - Forced proximity - Acts of love - Insta-lust then love - Age gap (9) - Anxiety rep - Loss of loved one (past) - Mention of infidelity (not between MCs) - Trust issues - No cheating, OM - OWD - Separation (days, she asked for space) - No V - HEA (still married, with a new fur baby)
Notes: - OWD. Not really, but a former paralegal who's into Miles made it seem like they had a thing before, when that wasn't true at all. Camila asked him about the OW and he made it clear that there had been nothing between them. - No V. Camila is the relationship type of girl. Unfortunately, Miles is the one and done guy. He doesn't do repeats and has never been in a relationship. So I can only dry heave thinking about his fictional body count. - It wasn't explained how long were their last encounters. But when they finally did the deed, there had been no safety talk, and they went at it bare. As if Camila's pill will prevent her from getting any disease. Look, I know this is fiction and all, but I still need the assurance that he doesn't have anything, mkay? - But I appreciate that the author didn't just shove it in our faces that the guy is kind of a player. It was just mentioned a bit at the start and a few times after that. I didn't like that that's his lifestyle but I learned to tolerate it.

A perfect debut novel!!! Miles and Camila were cute af and I LOOOOOVED that the third act breakup was short. I fricken hate when it’s drawn out.
She’s sunshine with anxiety, he’s a grumpy af billionaire lawyer with a dirty mouth that wants to worship her. He’s cranky to everyone, except her. He only lets her in. He also helps her find herself and see her self worth. Their dynamic is really sweet! The spice was really great, Michelle can write the spice and the dirty talk 🤌🏼
Miles Simp Daddy and his dirty ass mouth. 😮💨 Camila is relatable af with her anxiety and the way that Michelle explains it in the book is so accurate.
Would absolutely recommend. It’s a book for anyone who is just getting into spice, and also a book for those of us who read spice on the regular.
Thank you for the ARC, Michelle! I am so proud of you!!!!!!!!!!!!
4.75!!! i loved this book so much omg like accidental marriage/marriage of convenience SIGN ME UP!!! they were absolutely the cutest and their buildup was everything and felt so natural to me!! i loved camila sm and related to her so bad w her anxiety and people pleasing tendencies (especially w her immigrant parents that hit so bad) she deserved the world ahh!! and MILES AHHH <333 i need a hotshot lawyer who takes care of me when no one has before him and his coffee connoisseur ass (just like me fr) and HIS SPANISH 😵💫😵💫😵💫 ALSO THE THIGH TATTOO AND HIM BOXING…STOP I NEED HIM and omg him giving her his black card always and making sure she gets her daily pastries gahhhh i just loved everything about them it was so cute and easy (and the spice omg) but i can’t wait for taylors book!!!
ARE YOU KIDDING ME MICHELLE!? This is one hell of a debut novel. I'm so proud. I ate this book UP! Miles was everything you want in a book bf and the anxiety representation from miss camila was 10/10 amazing. I FELT it. Sign me the eff up for book 2
After a chaotic night in Vegas, strangers Camila & Miles wake up married.
Miles just got the promotion he’s been working towards and can’t afford his boss finding out he’s married to a stranger.
Camila just quit her energy-draining job, can’t tell her parents, and needs time to figure out a new plan.
Enter: a marriage of convenience that helps them both.

Can officially check off my first time reading a billionaire romance! Though this might have been a soft intro, because even editing this one, Miles just came across as rich and arrogant, and not what I thought billionaire vibes would be!
I’m a sucker for a marriage of convenience trope because it always forces multiple other tropes. I loved the forced proximity in being roommates and having to figure out communicating and boundaries and learning about each other.
I loved loved loved Camila’s explanation of anxiety and how you don’t always have one specific thing or you can’t necessarily even follow a train of thought, it’s just a whole lot of feeling anxious and nothing really helps. I felt very seen and validated in the anxiety rep.
I loved the character growth for both Miles & Camila, and both of their best friends, and a number of things I can’t say because spoilers!
📍California ✨Rep: anxiety ‼️Content: parental abandonment, past; death of a parent, cancer, past
Is this the author's first book? Really? Because I'm telling you, this book has become one of my favorites!!!
The story of Camila and Miles starts out as an accidental Las Vegas wedding (let's face it, we all know what happens in Vegas doesn't stay in Vegas) and turns into a marriage of convenience and I absolutely loved it!!! The characters are so beautiful and so well written that I want to read them again.
Camila, oh God, my beautiful girl who just wants to be happy, definitely a character I identified with, not wanting to disappoint anyone, always being perfect even when it hurts us. How much did I see myself in her? I cried, yes, I cried for her because the author described every anxiety attack well, every thought we have when we don't want to disappoint others and I loved that the author gave her a Miles as a partner and well, when is my turn? I'm telling you, Miles was an important pillar for Camila to realize that her dreams are more than valid, who would have thought that one of the grumpiest lawyers would be a teddy bear around her and only for her.
These two definitely have a place in my heart, the story is very good, there isn't much drama and it reads quickly because it grabs you from the beginning. As I said, being the debut of this author, I was surprised by all the love that you can see she put into this book. Now I will be patiently waiting for the second book because let's face it, I want to know Taylor's story.
📌 I received an e-arc, and this is my honest opinion/review of it.

This was unfortunately a dnf. I have been sitting on this for weeks, trying to understand what wasn't working for me. So here's a list: - several mentions of him being a grump, but he was not really? - lots of telling vs showing - the fact that a side character was named Taylor - that's a personal hang-up and I take the blame for being irritated by it - it felt like she was dropping the fact that she had anxiety in every other conversation
I wish I loved it. Seeing how the love is pouring out for this book from all other readers, please take my above remarks with a grain of salt.
This has easily become a favorite book of mine. The anxiety representation, the pressure so many of us feel from our parents growing up even as adults, to the fact that most of the time we are the ones guilty of putting all this stress and pressure on ourselves. I am so incredibly proud of you friend. I don't have much to say as I aboutely loved it and wouldn't change a thing. 10/10 recommend. The spice, the chemistry, the side chapters, all perfection.
Books like this are one of the reasons I love finding debut indie authors!
Camila’s best friend takes her to Vegas to celebrate her finally quitting a job that she hated. She’s supposed to bring a plan for what’s next in her life home with her, instead she brings home a wedding ring and a hot grumpy lawyer she accidentally marries… Miles is just a few days away from making partner at the law firm he works at. But if his work hears about him accidentally getting married there’s no way he’ll make partner. Camila needs time to figure out what’s next, and Miles now needs help to prove to his work that their marriage is real. If she moves in with him, it’ll give her the chance to possibly find a job she’s passionate about. They have an end date, and even though they have an obvious attraction to one another they shouldn’t complicate things by acting on it…. But Miles might like saying “my wife” and the way she’s starting to make him feel a little too much…
I absolutely devoured this book, and I think it saved me from a reading slump!
These are two people who were able to learn how to best understand each other, even with no words spoken. The way Miles and Camila learned the other person was so sweet and honestly so beautiful. “We’ve always had that understanding with each other. The ability to be patient and understand that the other will speak when they’re ready.”
I felt Camila to my core. A people pleaser who went through life making less of herself to make everyone around her happy. It wasn’t until Miles that she started doing things for her. He came behind her and supported her dreams even when she didn’t believe in herself. He taught her to care less about others opinions and more about what she wanted.
And Miles. I loved this grumpy workaholic, who slowly developed feelings for Camila and suddenly was coming home from work earlier than normal just to spend time with her. He was on a language app at work to try to learn Spanish for her. He was sharing parts of himself he had never shared before.
Congrats on your debut Michelle! So excited for what’s next!!
Let’s start off with this being such a perfect depiction of grumpy x sunshine. Like, he’s actually grumpy, y’all. And she’s actual Sunshine.
So, what do you get when you have two pairs of friends who go to Vegas to blow off steam?
A whoopsie marriage.
And what do you get when a hot shot lawyer is up for name partner, but falls into a whoopsie marriage?
A love story.
And my god is it GOOD.
I will warn you, Miles has a filthy mouth on him and you will fall in love with him and probably leave your boyfriend/husband/partner for a fictional character. Plus, he’s a coffee snob, so that makes him even hotter.
Camilla is such a wonderful representation of the Ray of Sunshine who needs to get some weight off of her shoulders. I really love and respect the depiction of anxiety in this book and her growth (and that she’s not *magically* changed, but she’s working on herself).
Highlights:
• their love story and the pacing. When I tell you, marriage of convenience has to be paced PERFECTLY or it loses its allure- I mean it. This was done WELL.
• the banter. Top tier. Great stuff. From all characters, to be honest. I was highlighting so much my finger caught on fire.
• JONAS. I love him, your honour. No questions at this time.
Michelle is someone who I already auto-adore, so it’s not surprising that she has instantly become an auto-buy author for me.
I've been following Michelle on Instagram for a few months and I've been looking forward to this book for a while! It did not disappoint!
Camila and Miles are soooo great together! I really liked that Camila felt safe with Miles from the start, and even thought he was a grumpy lawyer, he was just so soft and obsessed with her from the start! I could relate to Camila not wanting to disappoint her parents, and I really enjoyed how she finally went after what she really wanted and made her happy. I loved how Miles started making time for Camila right away, and how he made a conscious effort to communicate with her more throughout the books, instead of going back to his old habits.
I was happy there wasn't a full-on third act breakup; it made sense, considering why it happened, but at the same time it would not have made sense for the characters to completely shut down to each other, so I really enjoyed that they were able to take some time and talk things through.
Special mention to the friendship between Camila and Taylor!! I loved their relationship and how it was portrayed, it reminded me of some of my friends!
🌶: The spice was reeally good!! 🔥🔥
Such a great debut novel and I cannot wait to see what's next from Michelle 👀😊
Well. I didnt expect this book to have me so hooked to their story. As a Spanish girl I love the spanish/mexican representation and how cute of Miles to learn some Spanish and I kept giggling when he called her Esposa🥰
Tropes Grumpy/Sunshine Fake Marriage He falls first and hard Forced proximity “My wife” comments No ow drama Anxiety rep
The story was very well written, each chapter made sense, it had both POV and i love that! It was a really nice fast paced read. I loved that the “3rd act breakup” if you want to call it that, because i dont think i would class it like that, was very short. They communicated and they didn’t undermined each others feelings. Really well managed.
My poor Camila, oh i loved how the author explained how having anxiety feels. Like for real. That we sometimes dont know how to fix or that we dont have a motive why. And Miles was so supportive, he was gone for that girl, he would do anything for her. Mile has a dirtyyyy mouth though 🥵 the first car scene? When he asks her to kneel? I was 🤯
Now, Michelle I know Taylor’s book is coming soon. But I needed it yesterday 🥲🥹
Miles and Camila both end up in Vegas for different reasons, but somehow found their way to each other and what was already a wild night gets even crazier when they wake up married to each other. One thing leads to another and they come up with a mutually beneficial arrangement, but let’s be real with all the sexual tension between those two I knew things were going to get ✨dirty.✨ 😉
Michelle wrote Miles and Camila’s story beautifully, but honestly my most favorite thing was Camila’s personal growth. Seeing how she went from this person who always wanted to please everyone despite how it made her feel to growing into someone who finally said “yes” to herself and her dreams. Also, I loved that from the start Miles was supportive of her and believed in her even when she didn’t believe in herself no matter how small or big it was. Oh and the mouth on this man 😮💨 I need me a Miles Cameron in my life.
“I would have found another way because, in this lifetime or any other, I would find my way to you.”
This book was so good & spicy!! I really enjoyed the banter, age gap, the spice & top tier humor that had me cackling 😂 pls the first line of this book had me dead LMFAO
I loved the marriage of convenience/fake marriage/accidental marriage tropes. It brought the characters together, the tension & slow burn love. It was also refreshing to see a character that represented anxiety & internalized fear. I was able to deeply connect & relate to that. I love how we get Camila & Miles’s lives & difficulties & both of them navigating things together. Seeing their love grow was 🥹🥹 and his nickname for Camila?? Pls I need someone to call me their esposa right now !!
4/5☆ ahh miles and camila were SO CUTE WKJDJSJW!! their story was so so good and the way they both had to let their walls down to let the other person in UGH i love them sm!! miles was everything omg someone pls tell me where do i find a rich lawyer who takes care of me and everything and the way he just gives her his card to buy things and him buying her the art gallery space ahh!!!! also her angst was SO relatable and good the people pleaser thing and not wanting to disappoint her parents omg so so good i loved how he helped her through that and kept telling her to find what she liked and wanted with big things but also the small things like how she liked her coffee UGH this book was so cute <33
As someone who is always nostalgic for late 90’s/early 2000’s romcom films…I want to see this as a movie!!
You have the funny and sweet best friends, the wild night out that wasn’t supposed to mean anything but turns into everything, the chemistry, the spice, perfect depiction of anxiety, and generational family issues. I am such a sucker for a grump who is only melted by his one true love too 🥹
Overall it’s just a really fun read with characters that will stick with you.
Love, love, love!! ❤️❤️❤️
I was so lucky to be able to read this early and I can’t wait for everyone to get their hands on it in a few days.
It’s been a while since I’ve read a romance book and this was such a fluffy, sexy, cute and funny billionaire romance!! I LOVED the mental health representation through Camila, we don’t see enough of that, and the CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!! Miles’ development from a grinch to a literal “simp daddy” (direct quote LOL) had me swooning 😮💨 Don’t even get me started on Jonas…THAT man and his commentary 😂😂😂 This book took me for a ride and I’m so grateful to the author for giving me an opportunity to receive an ARC copy 🥹👏🏼📚
"Art of Convenience" is the latest must-read! It's all about this crazy night in Vegas that leads to Miles Cameron and Camila Sanchez, total opposites, waking up married. Talk about unexpected, right? Miles is this hotshot lawyer, and Camila is just figuring out her life. They decide to keep the marriage going to help each other out, but spoiler alert: things get real!
My Review 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Wow, where do I even start? "Art of Convenience" by Michelle Carrero was such a fun read! I was lucky enough to snag an ARC, and I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between Miles and Camila? Off the charts! And the banter—had me wanting more!
Miles is all cool and confident on the outside, but he's got this soft side that's just 😍. And Camila, she's the sweetest, with a loyalty that's so touching. They're the kind of characters that stick with you, you know?
And the way the book talks about anxiety—it's so real and honest. It's like the author gets it, and it made the story feel even closer to my heart.
So yeah, I'm giving it a big four stars. If you're looking for a book that's as heartwarming as it is hilarious, this is it. Trust me, you'll be rooting for Miles and Camila all the way!
vegas wedding, irreverent best friends, rich mmc, but also just the cutest little San Fran setting book that gave me all the butterflies.
for me, it was all the small things in this book that made it so good! the small gestures between the mc's felt so precious to me that it made me melttttt! this man was so gone for her and you could tell by all the little things he would do for/say to her 🥹
and the writing flowed very well and made for such a quick and easy read. cannot wait for Taylor's story in book 2!!
Miles & Camila. What a wild ride. I ate this book up! I read this in a day. If you’re into grumpy/sunshine, billionaire romance with an age gap & marriage of convenience — this book is for you. There is latine rep & anxiety rep as well. The book hooked me from the very beginning.
Camila quit her job after 5 years of misery & her best friend Taylor decides a trip to Vegas is the best way to celebrate. Miles is a workaholic, with a IDGAF attitude and no relationship experience & needing to blow some steam, heads to Vegas. The rest you’ll have to read.
4.5⭐️ rounding up to 5 This was genuinely so good! This book had me up until 1am kicking my feet and screaming in bed and I haven't done that in...*thinks about it* LITERALLY I CAN'T REMEMBER THE LAST TIME!
Ok, so I don't typically go for fake marriage/billionaire/age-gap stories, but a friend read this and rec'd it, so I took a look at the blurb and it intrigued me enough to give it a go. I'm so glad I did. I love a good grump/sunshine pairing as well as just a full on primal-@$$ man and Miles Cameron...mmm. That man's got it. But he was so subtle with it too, that just made it even better. Mmmm, I'm still thinking about some parts.... That spice was quick and dirty, but also just yumm-y.
The age gap? I didn't even notice it. Camila was very mature for her age and Miles seemed appropriately mannered for his age, so they worked very well together. The fake marriage? Yea ok, for like 2 seconds 'cause they LOVED EACH OTHER LMAOOOOO. And this man just showered her like she truly deserved. I absolutely loved the dynamic between these two characters. Truthfully, I felt like Miles and Camila were a great example of what a healthy relationship can look like (I know! How can this be from a FAKE marriage?! But just trust me on this). One in which two parties work to understand the other and come together in the middle somewhere and appreciate each other for what they bring to the table and work to help each other when needed. I loved how supportive they both were of each other, even when neither of them knew for sure what the other was feeling about their situation. It's like they just gravitated to each other naturally and I really enjoyed that aspect of this book.
Despite the actual plot, I liked how realistic this story was across multiple aspects. It just seemed like one that could be made into a cute little movie or something. I thought the writing style was great, easy to consume, flowed well. Pacing seemed great. I did feel like Camila overreacted toward the end a little bit, but honestly it was probably on par with her character profile. Really appreciated the anxiety rep in her character. Some might say it came up a lot, but those who live with anxiety I think will appreciate how much it was woven into her story and feel seen by that.
I originally read this on KU, but decided to buy the ebook once I was done. That's how much I enjoyed this. So yes, I definitely recommend! Happy reading!!! 🤙🏼💕
Michelle wrote a beautiful book that I was so honored to be an arc reader for! I was so excited when she announced she was going to write and I couldn’t wait for the day! The hype was worth it! 🫶🏽
Camila quits her horrible job and her/our best friend, Taylor, is right there to cheer her on and take a trip to Vegas to celebrate! Here enters Miles 😍. I think you can put it together, Camila+Miles+Vegas= Elvis. Lol
Both Camila and Miles are such relatable characters. They felt so genuine and raw because I’m sure we can all relate to something they’re going through or went through. The character development in this book is phenomenal and felt realistic. It wasn’t a “rushed” change where they’re all better now and things are perfect so I definitely appreciated that. The dialogue between all characters was chefs kiss. They felt like real conversations, the back and forth between all characters was so smooth, accurate, and felt real. Even with the side characters, felt so easy to read.
Reading the conversations and going through the thoughts and emotions from these characters and how they faced every situation was truly beautiful to witness. I love the empowerment, love, kindness, and care that was spread throughout this book. So beautiful and healing. This is a comfort read for sure. 🥹 I highlighted SO MUCH in this book 🥹 Thank you so much, hun for this book! Everyone’s going to love it!
Read if you like: -Marriage of convenience -Found family -Billionaire MMC -Anxiety rep -Strong friendships -Personal Growth -Spice
What happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas when you wake up married to a complete stranger . Camila already has enough on her plate to deal with after just quitting her terrible soul-sucking job, all while hiding from her parents while she figures out what is next . All while Miles finally just got his dream promotion at work + can’t risk his boss finding out how unreliable or spontaneous he, all because he drunkenly married a stranger . Now the two of them are forced together in a strange new world of marriage all while trying to figure out boundaries + the feelings they both clearly have for each other .
Congratulations Michelle on your debut novel !!! Miles is a total swoon + I seriously couldn’t get enough of his dirty mouth and the soft spot that he only has for Camila . Camila is a total people pleaser but I can sympathize with that because I too also suffer with terrible anxieties . Camila’s explanations of how her anxieties make her feel have made me feel 100% seen . While the pacing seemed a little off in the middle, I still loved this book ! I mean from page one I was laughing so hard from her bestie girl Taylor ! I can’t wait to see what Michelle has in store for us next .. I’m really hoping it’s Taylor’s story !
This book can be read as a complete stand alone .
This book was given to me for honest review from the author .
no but forreal, i don’t know if it’s because i’m just a big baby, but the last 15% of this book had me in tears! giggles and straight up UGLY tears. my emotions? buck wild. i love this book with my whole heart. the marriage of convenience. the accidental love story. the spice. the chemistry. the very supportive shit-talking besties. ahhhh what more can you ask for?
i literally went through all the emotions with camila. she’s one of the most relatable FMC’s i’ve come across. her development made me so emotional because when i see myself in a character, i can’t help but to picture myself in their position and it essentially brings a sense of hope and inspiration. i just love that i was able to take that from her story.
miles ‘simp daddy’ cameron definitely set the bar for book boyfriends. i love this man. he was also very relatable for me and i was so proud to witness his growth throughout the story. even his development had me in tears. idk if i’ll find a book boyfriend that could top this simp daddy.
taylor, how i wish for a bestie just like her! she cracks me up and i cannot wait for her story!! jonas is equally as funny and supportive, so he gets a shoutout too hehe.
