Proud Blerd and self-proclaimed Kween of the Side-Eye, award-winning author Nikki Woolfolk sculpts decadent desserts and fantastical fiction with equal skill and flair.

When she’s not playing a never-ending game of “what if” in a writing space that’s part DieselPunk, part Willy Wonka, she’s drawing on her former STEM career and collection of quirky experiences to work up new recipes in her kitchen (tasting encouraged), designing her Goth-inspired garden (tasting decidedly DISCOURAGED), and mashing up real and fictional worlds on social media (virtual kitchen table is always open).

A Midnight Triangle by Nikki Woolfolk
aka The Invitation: A Night of Misadventures of Love, Sweet & Steamy novella 1
Historical Streampunk intro novella. F-F romance. Clean.
A short adventure chasing a waylaid present through carnival type scenarios. Potentially racy in the future through the world building.

I love the acceptance by the father at the end.

This was my first encounter with author Nikki Woolfolk. I found this novelette on a Steampunk list and decided to give it a try. It was a very nice read although now I wished the book had been longer, because I really like the characters of Cassandra Holloway and Professor Morgan Thibodeaux. The story had a bit of everything - a sleepy little town, an interesting alternative history backstory, a dash of Steampunk, gadgets, a deaf main character, a magical (and naughty) carnival, a mad chase through town, a budding romance, good food... all in 55 pages.

The Winter Triangle is a sweet Steampunk rom-com that is well worth exploring.

f/f no sex
Themes: stargazing, Valentine's Day, I wish we had night carnival trainrides like that, there is a short trip on board a dirigible, The writer promised us 4 books in this series but alas... it peetered out after two, there are recipes of the food described in the story in the back of the book,

This is my second book I have read involving steampunk. I have greatly enjoyed everything about steampunk from the adventures to the romance.

The Invitation was a fast pace adventure involving a cast of characters who are on a mission to retrieve a lost item. The whole book takes place in just one night but the story telling made it feel like it was much longer period of time.

Just not the right book for me.

This is my second try at reading a Steampunk story and it just isn’t for me. I had a really hard time understanding everything that was going on. I normally don’t have a problem with fast paced stories but I just couldn’t keep up with this one.

I read the book because the author is attending the 2021 virtual Coastal Magic Convention and I’m trying to read something by each of the authors. Based on other reviews of this book, I’m sure the problem is with me so I am declining to leave a star rating for this one.

Perfect little steampunk adventure with a bit of sweet romance woven through. I greatly enjoyed the Invitation by Nikki Woolfolk and was sad that it was over. The action starts off pretty quickly and then we're off on a journey to retrieve a lost gift with a fun cast of characters. The book takes place in on night, but by the end of it I felt like we had been on an epic adventure that encompassed a much greater length of time. Their world was so much fun and interesting too!

It took me a moment to figure out this book. But when I did, it was fun. There was an adventure around every corner. It was also close to Valentine's Day and the presents were AWESOME. It was a fun read. If you want a good smile, read this book.

Nikki is a new author to me and wow! what a fabulous book. I found this steampunk advanture charming, sweet, amazing and at time laugh out loud fun. It was so magical and honestly, I was never quite sure what was going to happen next. I simply adored Hunter, virgin spunk and all, lol. And the Auction was quite simply hilarious. I definitely recommend reading this book.

This book is a wild ride, and I had no idea what would happen next. It's steampunk, with so many things that make Steampunk great. The pacing was fast, and the scenes went from one scenario to the next in a whimsical, almost dream-like state. And of course, the characters took everything in stride. They were charming and engaging and sweet. I won't tell you which Morgan Cassandra falls for, but I will say that it was an adorable moment there at the end, and I think they will have a beautiful life.

We meet several named characters mentioned from the blurbs of other books by this author, so it seems this may be the "start" of a universe. I'm interested to see what is next.

This was adorable! This is set in her alternate history world and that makes me happy. I adore the way she turned everything topsy turvy and shows that even swinging they other way, we can go too far. and she hints that even in this short novella. And Cassandra and the Morgans are super cute and i hope we see more of them! I want to know where the romance between the women go, and I have to know how Hunter gets on in the world. Does he find his lady love again? does he follow his passion? I have to know!

This was a fun book. The title totally sums it up as the book is a series of misadventures brought on by a miscommunication. It took me a while to get into it because we were submerged into a world from the get-go, but it was a quirky and interesting world for sure. I enjoyed the ride and the characters!

I went into this book not knowing what to expect. I haven't read but one or two Cyberpunk books and no F/F books. But since it was written by one of the authors in my Reader's Challenge group I pick from her published books.

I'm so happy I did. It was a delightful read, with a plethora of adventure, hijinx, romance, lust, and discovery. I loved how the father handled Cassandra's decisions in the end.

This is my second Woolfolk story, and my feelings are the same. I love the world-building, the creativity, the diversity, the AU steampunk setting, and the premise of each book. I just don't think Woolfolk's style is for me. It's alternately disjointed and intensely detailed, and I just get lost and frustrated trying to figure out what to pay attention to. I want it to be longer, for the author to take more time explaining things that aren't obvious rather than detailing every movement, to take time with the characters and their development. It almost reads like a video filmed with not enough frames, so that the pictures we do get are vivid, but it rushes through to the next plot point too soon.

Blind dates and pure exhilaration

Short story but GIANT world building. In such a little space this world is fully realized with history yet isn’t bogged down with exposition. The characters are people I want to hang out with. The comedy note made me snot with giggles and I may have audibly swooned a few times. I am immediately starting on the rest of this series/world because I need everything about them.

One of my favorite authors recommended this story in her Pride month recs and I figured I’d pick it up since it was on Kindle Unlimited. The story was cute but it felt a bit disjointed and everywhere. I think I’ll pick the next story in the series up but we’ll see.
