What happens when a woman is fortunate enough to have two great loves in her life and does not know they are brothers?
To be fair, she does not fall in love with the second man until tragedy has taken her first love from her. We learned part of the story in Dori Lavelle's first book "Entangled Moments."
Even if you have not read the first book (but I recommend you do. You will love it!) you get the whole story here. The details are enhanced and explained.
This is a feel good love story where dreams come true and the reader believes anything is possible. That is not to say the journey is without it's rough spots. True love must survive challenges.
I enjoy the way the author writes. The story has a good pace and you don't want to put the book down.
I look forward to discovering what will happen next.
I was privileged to get an advanced reader copy of this book but the opinions are honestly mine.

I am setting here wondering what to type, usually for me giving a review is easy. You either like or you do not. Then you write what you like or didn't like. I am setting here flooded wondering what the hell I am going to type.
I guess first I should say I was given this book by the author before it was released (release date is Feb 8, 2014). I was asked to tell her what I thought of the book. She never asked me to review it. This book has touched me so much that I DEMAND to review it.
There is no doubt that real life is hard, some days are harder then others. We look to book to smile, laugh and sometimes to just escape. Then we find an author who takes a book and turns it into real life. This book is fiction but it could be someones life. It is so believable. An author who makes you think and makes your realize to be thankful for what you have. That no matter how hard life is it could always be worse. It is up to each of us to make the most of today, it is not up to others to make us happy for we must make our self happy to make those around of happy. Ms. Lavelle thank you for reminding me of these things I do forget them from time to time.
So my review is as follows:
I could not put this book down, I do not want it to end and I doubt you can read this book and not feel the emotion and passion. If you really think about what the author is saying at the end of it you should not only be happy but sad, maybe even have a tear. So much goes on in a very short time, you have love lost, love found only to loose it again and it does not stop there. You more or less have most of the town pointing fingers at you for something you had no control over. Carlene has beat herself up more then any person out there could. She has her weak moments but stands strong and faces her fears. People hate her for somethings she never did. No matter what she always put others first, even when they do not to the same for her. Don't you think it is about time others put her first. I guess you will have to read to find out for yourself.
How many times must you loose everything and say what the hell I give up. Before you just want to join those love ones who have died before you. Carlene NEVER thinks this way, just pushes on and hopes times will get better.
Nick is fighting his own demons, for he loved and lost the same man Carlene did, his brother. He doesn't know the story of how he died and he doesn't want to hear it. All he knows is the women he loved lied to him by not telling him who she was and who she loved and yes killed. But did she really kill his brother. Will Nick find it in his heart to really listen and learn or will he let hate take over? Again you will have to read.
I am not one to give a book away, you don't need to know what happen to know if you want to read this book. Plus if you read what the author wrote at the top of this page you already know all you need to know. You will want to read this book.
I will tell you this I almost lost it when Carlene gave the letters her death boyfriend wrote to his mother. We do not know what was in them, we do find out the just of them and that is all we need to know.
I think when you are done reading this book you will find you wish you yourself were more like Carlene and can turn the other cheek no matter what. I know I do, I know I would not have been so kind to Melisa I doubt many of us would be. Melisa has her own evils to face and all I can say is where can I buy book 3? I want it NOW!
Now I am going over to the authors page and I am going to click on being her fan. The only bad thing or I should say the only thing I did not like in this book was it was to short, I did not want it to end and I wanted to know so much more. For someone who didn't know what to say I guess I found a lot lol.
I hope you enjoyed reading this book as much as I did. I gave the author and her book a 5 star but that is the highest I could go it is worth many more starts then allowed. I hope my review gave you some thought and will make you want to read this book. Thank you Ms. Lavelle for reminding me what is important in life.

Well, this was definitely better even though it went too fast.
It was good to get to know Chris because in the previous book I didn't feel the "sadness of having killed the love of your life" but now I do. The way they met was so fucking sweet... I wish I had someone who did those things for me. Suffice to say I cried.
Pd: Thanks to Dori for the free copy ♥

Something happened in the life of Carlene Adams, a few years ago, that left her soul scarred and her heart heavy with guilt. She never dreamed of finding an anchor in her, otherwise chaotic, life ever again but then she met Nick Johnson and fell in love for the second time in her life. But now her dirty secret is out leaving Nick devastated and hateful of her. As if this is not enough, her job is also in danger and betrayal by people she loves not far behind.
What will Carlene do now?
Will Nick ever forgive her?
What was the horrid secret that Carlene tried her level best to hide so much so that she even changed her name to run from it?
Will she hide from the past as she did before or face her demons this time and fight for a future with Nick?
The much anticipated closure to Carlene and Nick's story is due to release in February 2014 but I was lucky enough to get an ARC copy and so satisfy my curiosity. :)
Just like the first book in the "Moments in Time" series, Entangled Moments , this book is also very tastefully executed and engaged me right from the first page. The story continues from where it left in the first book and deals with Carlene's past coming to light and the consequences of the disclosure. What happens to Nick and Carlene eventually is the main theme of the story.
I loved the way Dori developed Carlene's character as per the requirements of the story and also was impressed with the way she takes us into the past and the technique by which she joins the past events with the present scenarios. The characterization is crisp and their emotions heartfelt. Although the other characters like Nick's mother's character etc. are expertly portrayed, I was a bit disappointed with Nick's character. His part is not played out to its full potential and I would have loved if he was given more limelight to show his true feelings. I could not connect with Nick like I did in the first book. Also their reconciliation came too swiftly and I guess, I felt it so sudden because I had been hoping for more fight on that front.
Other than these small glitches, this is a very touching and interesting story that will keep you engaged till the very end. A short and a few hours well spent, this book leaves the reader in anticipation of the next book in the series which will be the story of Melisa, Carlene's best friend. A 4 out of 5 to it and I highly recommend this book to everyone and also the first book in the "Moments in Time" series. A well written love story by a very promising author, Dori is an author you don't want to miss.
The book is suited only for readers above 18 years of age due to its explicit content.
I received an ARC copy of the book from the author and I am very thankful to her. The above review is my honest and unbiased opinion and in no way influenced.

REVIEW: REKINDLED MOMENTS is the second storyline in Dori Lavelle’s contemporary, adult, Moments in Time novella series that follows quickly on the ending of book one-Entangled Moments. The premise focuses on the Carlene and Nick. After discovering the truth about Carlene’s real identity and her connection to a horrible moment from the past, Nick pushes Carlene away in an effort to rid himself of the painful memories and everything she represents.
The storyline follows Carlene as one disaster after another befalls the now thirty year old model and jewelry store representative. From the loss of Nick to the revelation that her entire back story has become fodder for the tabloids and the press, Carlene hopes to prove her innocence while the media and Nick’s family continue to tear her down.
REKINDLED MOMENTS is a quick and easy read that encompasses a very dark period in both Nick and Carlene’s life. Because it is a short story, there were a lot of empty holes in the storyline that were left unanswered and the quick resolution to the entire premise was a little too quick and compact. I was hoping for a little more detail and story.
Dori Lavelle has written an interesting storyline that sees two people hurting over a mutual loss-but a loss that is different for each. If you like a story where lovers become enemies only find themselves in love once again, Entangled Moments and the Moments in Time series is the read for you.

rekindled-moments-moments-in-time-dori-lavelleI obtained a copy of Rekindled Moments from the author, Dori Lavelle, a free e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you VERY much. After reading the first…I had to read the second!
Rekindled Moments from the author, Dori Lavelle is the second book in the Moments in Time series.
Wow…..LOVED the continuation of Carlene’s life in this second novella…a much needed continuation I might add since I was not finished with Carlene after the first novella in the series! And I am happy to say….I will also be waiting with baited breath for the third novella. This was a quick, easy read which totally enveloped me in the world of Carlene…so much so that I read the book straight through on one snowy Sunday afternoon.
The book begins with the introduction of Chris and the blossoming relationship with Carlene. As we are taken through this journey, one can see how Carlene loved this man and how his eventual death played a big part in how she views herself as the person responsible for his death. If only she could see that she wasn’t….but this self-deprecating view of herself and Chris’ death is what is the underlying current in the story and makes the story powerful. It made this reader want to shake and hug Carlene at the same time.
As the story continues, Carlene and Nick are apart as he discovered that Carlene was “responsible” for his long lost brother’s death. You feel the anguish washing over Carlene as a result of Nick shunning her and not giving her a chance to explain. At this point in time….I wanted to shout at Nick….give Carlene a chance to explain. After all, she had more history with Chris than Nick did. When you think the scenario cannot get any worse….the press intrudes in their lives (since Nick is a wealthy, powerful man) by doing what the paparazzi does best…spreading untruths and splashing damaging photo’s out of context.
As life spirals downwards, Carlene finally takes a stand with the press. As she is talking with the press, a white night appears (Nick) and saves her from the vultures we like to call the press. A true romantic gesture. I won’t carry on as I want to leave you with some surprises.
If you like romance, hunky guys, and complex back histories you would not guess all in a short novella, this book is for you.

In Between The Lines
My thoughts…
This book starts after the ending of the first one. Carlene is trying to put her life back together after Nick walked out on her. This book is about forgiveness and moving on into happiness.
I liked the first book a lot more than I liked this one. Carlene starts to lose everything because she can’t keep her emotions off her face after what happened with Nick. I felt for her. Everyone started to blame her for things that she didn’t even do. I really liked that she had the courage to move away from everything she has ever known. She didn’t end up doing it but she was willing and that made her a strong person in my eyes.
I thought Nick was kind of a tool in some of this. I mean he accuses her of a lot of things without hearing her out even though he “loved” her. I’m glad he finally decided to check into the actual report before he let her walk away from her forever. He finally got his head on straight and went to save her from the press. I feel like he got off easy in the apology department but that is just me.
The couple’s chemistry in this book is amazing. They feel it and it is so strong you can feel it as you read the book. It can’t be denied how much they love each other. I am really glad that they got their happy ending.
If you are in the mood for a short romantic read this is the book for you. This book was full of sweet romantic moments that will feed that romantic itch.
I can’t wait to read Melisa’s story!!!

Where do I start? I was anxious to see what direction Carlene's life took after what had happened at the end of the first one. In this one we get to learn more about the life that she had with her husband Chris. We learn that he was a good man that was battling his own demon's and suffering with depression. I felt that the stuff I needed to know was delivered and in the end I was left with goosebumps.. Not once but TWICE! I don't necessarily know if I could be as forgiving as Carlene is when she is betrayed, but that is why I really like her. She is a genuinely nice woman who has been dealt a bad hand in life. There was some interesting twists and I was definitely surprised that what I thought I knew happened was close but definitely not the case. I was disappointed at how her co-worker's just kind of ditch her, with out even giving her a chance, but that is exactly how some people can be. I was satisfied with the closure of the story but do hope to maybe see these characters again. If you are looking for a good read that you won't be able to put down then The Moments in Time books are ones to make sure and add to your lists. Dori has a wonderful way of making her character's and their world come to life, and with a Book-Boyfriend like Nick.. Serendipity is a place I would like to be....

Now, that’s what I wanted to read! The first book ended so sadly, I felt Carlene’s despair and I needed to know what happened in her past with Chris and what would happen with Nick. I had so many questions and wanted Carlene to be happy.
With that said, we get answers to what happened with Chris. Don’t read any more if you haven’t read the first book. What happened when he died and why Carlene felt so guilty. Gosh, I think I would have ended in severe depression if I were her. But Carlene is strong and kind hearted and she deserved to be happy.
I can’t say much more. It is a short story so it is easy to read. The story flows well and you get answers you need to feel better by the end of the day. It didn’t come easy, there were still issues that came up, like Nick and Chris’s mother for one. Carlene and Nick are meant to be together and he is good for her and her for him.
Next, we will get to see Melisa’s story. I am curious to see how her life spiraled out of control and see if she can piece it back together

Rekindled Moments picks up after the cliffhanger ending in Entangled Moments. We learn what happens to Carlene and Nick. Carlene is heart broken after Nick discovered her secrets. She didn't know the depth of heart ache she would experience at her secrets being exposed to the world and losing Nick. This story takes you on an emotional ride. If you like your stories with a Happily Ever After, this will be right up your alley. :)

***Review may contain spoilers for book one in the series!!!***
Rekindled Moments by Dori Lavelle is the second book in her Moments in Time contemporary romance series. This book is the conclusion to the dramatic affair between Carlene Adams and Nick Johnson that we first met in book one in the series, Entangled Moments.
Book one ended on a "bit" of a cliffhanger. Nick had just discovered that Carlene was in fact the woman that killed his long lost twin brother, Chris, robbing him of the chance to ever truly know him. Carlene is going through the motions of living without really being present. It is affecting her job and her health and things that had started to piece themselves together so well in the beginning are now steadily falling apart around her. A massive act of betrayal leaks the story of Chris and Nick to the press and Carlene has now also lost her job. Nick is unyielding in his refusal to hear her out and the downward spiral is in full flight.
Fear not dear readers, this does end happily, it's the journey we take to get there that is particularly painful (non-waterproof mascara and crying eyes do not good friends make, my eyes are still stinging).
We finally learn the actual events that led to Chris's death and the puzzle pieces slowly start to fall into their correct places. A stunning conclusion to the fairy-tale romance of Carlene and Nick.
The next book in this series, Bittersweet Moments focuses on Carlene's troubled best friend, Melisa. It is expected in April of 2014.

The truth will always find a way out.
Carlene Adams' new life has been an illusion, her newfound joy just for rent. The life she craves can't really belong to a girl who is responsible for someone's death.
Her greatest fear is realized. Nick Johnson, her second chance at love, has discovered her true identity and disappeared from her life.
She will need to find a way to move on without Nick. But the memories of their time together haunt her relentlessly. As Serendipity's Businessman of the Year, his face is everywhere- in magazines, on the television screen, and behind her eyelids. Soon, rumors about her past cause her life to spin out of control, and she finds herself even further from her dreams.
Carlene can't go anywhere without being labeled a murderer or seeing everywhere reminders of Nick. When her heart can't take it anymore she decides to leave town and along with it leaving the past she is finally able to let go of. Just when she thinks her life in Serendipity is over Nick shows up with new revelations.
Nick has fought with himself about whether to choose between the guilt of not being able to be there for his brother and not wanting to let go of the love of his life. When he shows up one day and reveals the truth about what happened that fateful day he hopes he is not to late to get her to stay and with that prove that he is the man she deserves to have in her life.
This is a heartwarming and emotional story. It will keep you entranced wondering what could possibly happen next. Nick and Carlene have such a strong bond that their love for each other literally jumps off of the pages. It is wonderfully written and the story flows well. The author brings out the emotions of these characters and leaves you wanting more. This is the second book in the Moments in Time Series.
I would highly recommend this book.

I was so torn at the end of Entangled Moments that I had to buy this one to see what happened with Carlene and Nick. Learning about what happened with Chris broke my heart and the guilt and hurt that Carlene felt was flowing from the pages. This is an emotional ride but well worth it. Carlene has not heard from Nick in six months. After he left her, she tried to call a few time to explain what happened and she decided to stop so he would not accuse her of being a stalker. Nick is hurting for the twin brother that he never knew until recently and now he is gone. When pictures of Carlene and Nick show up in the papers, Nick accuses her of trying to get back at him. Then a story is released about Chris' death and the only person that knew the whole truth was her best friend Malisa. What could she gain by telling the story? This goes from bad to worse when Carlene steps out of the shelter and is bombarded by reporters. She realizes that she has to tell her story or they will not leave her alone. And then Nick shows up to help her. Can Nick forget her for what happened with Chris? Can Carlene forgive herself? This is a perfect ending to a heartbreaking story. Please pick them both up, you not be sorry. I loved them both and I know you will too.

I was reluctant to read Entangled Moments (the first book) because was it a little bit out of my usual genres. But when I did, I enjoyed it a lot and then I read Rekindled Moments and the author simply blew me away.
This second installment had been written so beautifully and sometimes poetically. I could feel the heartbreak and emotion of the characters with each word and sentence. I could feel how painful life was for them and how much strength they had to pick themselves up after going through so much loss, and torment. The storyline was unique and held so much depth, that I couldn't put the novella down.
I'm terribly surprised with myself. I never thought I would enjoy the genre, but Dori Lavelle has gotten me hooked. Hats off to her and her wonderful writing style and for being the first author to write something in a genre I'm starting to love more and more with each read. I can't wait to read more from her.

When I started book this book tons of questions were going though my head Like...
What will Carlene do now?
Will Nick ever forgive her?
What was the horrid secret that Carlene tried her level best to hide so much so that she even changed her name to run from it?
Will she hide from the past as she did before or face her demons this time and fight for a future with Nick?
Well she ever trust again?
How many times must you loose everything and say what the hell I give up!
Believe me when I stay everyone one of these question were answer... LOVE This Story.

A perfect ending to years of guilty conscience. Carlene blamed herself for the death of her fiancé and meeting nick helped to turn it around.
