Ana loves sex, and she’s not shy about it. She likes pleasing her men, and likes her men pleasing her. She can be a sub in the bedroom, but outside of it – she’s an independent girl who had been through a lot and is now playing by her own rules. Her painful past had already determined her future, and she’s making the most out of what she can have. So long term relationships is out of the question, as well as commitment. Love and dreams had disillusioned her. There was no way she’s going back there.

Teddy is one cool bartender who will capture your hearts. He was hot, sexy, charming and sweet… and not to mention he’s really, really good in bed. It’s no wonder why Ana can’t help but be smitten with him. He’s one special package I’d like to unwrap personally. He adores his unconventional family and he has some fair shares of women. He likes Ana, but would he ever be enough to break all the walls that surrounds her heart?

It was suppose to be just one night – but both Teddy and Ana had met their match not just in bed, but out of it as well. They have enjoyed each other’s company – but both have secrets and past they first needed to exorcise themselves from and tell each other, before it catches them.

It took a while for her to trust him, for her to start breaking her barriers. But some issues needed to be addressed first before they can finally start their forever. Ana wanted him to be happy – she wasn’t the woman to fulfill his dreams. Will Ted convince her that she was the one for him, or will they let their past dictate their future?

Their HEA would not be possible without someone. What made them reconcile was MORE than just your ordinary grand gesture. At first, I was surprised (not good surprise), because it was too weird – but after reading it, and realizing the its importance, I appreciated it. They needed one big push for them to wake up from their stupor and be back in each other’s arms.

With the right amount of kink, romance, steamy scenes and not to mention surprises – Afraid to Love had me hooked. I finished this book in one sitting, constantly squirming, and rooting for each of the characters.

Afraid to Love is a companion volume to Fire In His Eyes which focused on Monica, the sister of Ana. Afraid To Love focuses on Ana and follows the same timeline as Fire. It is not a sequel, and you do not have to read one to enjoy the other, but the two books do compliment each other well. I liked Fire In His Eyes, but found some of the writing to be a bit off, even though I still gave it 4 stars. But the author's writing has really improved in Afraid To Love.
Afraid To Love tells the story of Ana, who has had her heart broken once before when her ex-husband cheated on her. That would have been bad enough, but to make things worse he also brought into their marital bed a serious STD which ended up causing Ana to have a complete hysterectomy at the age of 24. She is now 34, and for the last 10 years she has limited her exposure to men to one night stands and such. Ana never wanted to get serious with another man, worried that he would also break her heart. She also felt that she was only half a woman now that she could never have children of her own. What kind of man would ever be satisfied with that?
Everything changes the night she met Teddy. Teddy was a handsome bartender who swept Ana off her feet like no other man had before. For the first time in many years Ana wanted to see a man more than once. And Teddy wanted to see more of this beautiful red haired goddess. Almost in spite of herself, Ana was falling in love with this incredible man. But she knew nothing serious could ever come of it. Teddy was from a large family, and she knew he wanted kids of his own someday. She could never give him that.
However, Teddy had secrets of his own, and this is the crux of the novel. How can these two, who obviously care for each other, possibly be together and enjoy their happy ending? Please read this book to learn the answer to that.
The sex scenes in this book are fire hot. Ana is very submissive in the bedroom, wanting a man to take control, and Teddy is more than willing to do just that. As a man myself I have to say I found that especially hot and sexy.
The book is complete in and of itself. You do not have to read Fire In His Eyes first, although reading it will help explain her sisters journey. which is only touched upon in this book.
I loved the book, finding it very sweet, and a bit heartbreaking at times. I found myself with wet eyes more than once. I would encourage you to check it out. I promise you will fall in love with Ana and Teddy too.

This is my 5 snowflake review for Afraid to Love by MJ Nightingale for Eskimo Princess Book Reviews.

Afraid to Love is about Ana Perrot and Teddy O’Rourke. Ana is a beautiful, caring, strong and successful woman. She doesn’t depend on anyone and only counts on herself. She doesn’t like to be told what to do, well everywhere but the bedroom that is. She takes care of herself but when she is in a man’s arms she likes to submit. She gives herself over to her lover and lets him take the reins. Will she be able to let Teddy take charge of her body and her heart? Will the past she tries so hard to hide be her downfall?

Teddy is a hot, sexy, former cop turned bartender. He isn’t lacking on female attention but he likes to be a little choosey with the women he brings home. He really isn’t looking for anything permanent until a certain red head barrels her way into his arms and his heart. Will he ever be able to break down the walls that Ana has constructed around her heart? Will he ever be able to convince her that he is all she needs?

Oh my, this book is sizzling. The sex scenes are off the charts and Teddy is a very blessed man, if you know what I mean. ;) He has no problem falling into the dominant roll and loves just how submissive Ana can be. I thought that the book flow was great, the plot was very emotional, and the romance was just that, totally romantic. Teddy really is a great book boyfriend. Ana is a strong heroine who can stand on her own two feet. I would actually like to read more about these two. I didn’t find but a few editing issues, but nothing that took away from the reading of the book. I like reading MJ Nightingale’s Afraid to Love so I will have to go back and read Fire in his Eyes so I can get the story about Monica and Victor, since it parallels the time line of this book.

If you like to read about kink, this book would definitely be one that you will not want to miss out on. It is kinky and emotional, just try it out and see for yourself!

Ana has been burned before so she is the one who does the burning, while taking her sister Monica out to get her out of her self imposed slump. Ana thinks that men are only good for one thing, she has her sights on Teddy the bartender, who isn't her usual type. Her type is dark, menacing and tall. She took her sister home, she stopped at her house to get some clothes for the next day. Ana fears that Teddy isn't like the others. The next day after Teddy and Ana had sex, she had low blood sugar she left the door ajar when Teddy found her he accused her of being a drug addict, saying that he doesn't have sex with drug addicts. Ana left, she left a note for him saying that she was a diabetic and left her phone number. He called to apologize to Ana for saying that, he wants to see her again Teddy wants more from her. Ana doesn't want a relationship because of what happened to her at the age of 24. What happened to Ana?
Ana gave herself a task to get Monica out of her slump, she is 34 with long red burgundy hair. She likes her men younger, she is also a diabetic. Teddy is a bartender, he acts like he has never been picked up in a bar before. Really cares about Ana, willing to give her space and time. He has blonde hair with brown eyes. Monica is Ana's sister, she is gun shy around men. She was raped when she was younger. Lou is Ana's friend, she had a daughter at 16 . She was in a abusive relationship, cares a lot about Ana and she put her life on hold to raise her daughter. There are many more characters in this book.
While reading this book I felt happy, sad. One of the quotes that I thought was sad is “ I don't want to hurt you, but I don't want to be hurt, calling it something, in my mind at least, makes me feel like I am setting us up for failure. I don't know how to explain. Please just a bit more time.”
MJ Nightingale is a amazing author, I highly recommend this book. This book is my first book by MJ and it will not be my last.

After reading Fire In His Eyes I was eager to read Ana’s story Afraid to Love. I was introduced to her in Fire In His Eyes and I was quite intrigued by her. She was intent on helping her sister to have a fulfilling love life, but she had no interest in having a committed relationship. She has no problems attracting men, but she was more interested in satisfying her sexual needs. Her actions stemmed from an experience she had had when she was in her twenties.
Ana was the type of woman who knew what she wanted and was not afraid to go after it. She is strong and independent, but was not afraid to be submissive when it came to sex. She like it when her lover takes control in the bedroom. It was easy to connect with her as underneath the tough exterior is a woman who has experienced a lot of pain.
One fateful night Teddy O’ Rourke walks into her life and things will never be the same for her. She started to experience things that she did not want to. Teddy wanted more from her than she was willing to give. He knew she was hiding something, but he had no intention of giving up on her. It was clear that he too had secrets that he was not so keen on divulging, I loved Teddy, he is quite charming, sweet and sensitive. He was not afraid to express his feelings.
Afraid to Love is a story that tugs on your emotions. It made me laugh and it also had me shedding some unexpected tears. It’s been a while since I have read a book that made me cry. I could not get enough of Ana and Teddy. This is a story that pulls you in and stays with you for days, even after it has been completed.
I enjoyed this book so much that I would recommend it to readers who love contemporary romance that is hot and sizzling.

CARMIE'S REVIEW -

What part does fate play in love?

Is it just coincidence that Ana is at the bar with her sister and their bartender is Teddy? The reasons that Ana and Teddy initially hook-up aren't coincidence - it is pure lust. Ana and Teddy really light the sheets on fire.

Ana is looking for a short-term fling, i.e. no strings attached. After their first night together, Teddy wants to know more about Ana. He knows the incredible sex they shared is rare and wants to explore it and her further. He convinces Ana to see him again and again; the more time he spends with her the more he thinks that she could be his "one."

Things seem like they are going okay until Teddy starts crying out for Angelina in his sleep. Ana knows that Teddy has secrets - things he has held back but she can't blame him because she hasn't told him everything either. Ana is hurt inside at the thought that Teddy is secretly longing for another woman. Eventually she confronts him about Angelina and the situation is cleared up to her satisfaction.

Teddy falls in love with Ana and tries to be patient for her to share her secret with him. Ana doesn't want to tell Teddy that she can't have children nor does she want to lead him on. Ana loves Teddy and doesn't want to deprive him of the future that he could have with someone else.

You decide if it is mere coincidence that leads up to Ana and Teddy finding love and maybe finding forever. Their journey is a well-rounded story and is full of lots of steamy sex intermixed with humor blended with moments of serious discussion. In total, it is a heart-warming read that is worth every turn of the page.

I love MJ Nightingale’s writing style and this book delivers in sexy, swoony style. There is so much hot, steamy sex in this book that I had to look something up! But like Fire in Her Eyes, the main characters have a lot of heart, there is no game-playing, they fall hard and they work to make things right. This book is a standalone book, although characters from Fire In His Eyes make an appearance here.

Ana has a very painful past (I have not seen a character in her situation before!), loves sex and meets a gorgeous bartender for what she thinks will be a HOT one-night-stand. Teddy has some FABULOUS attributes (hint, hint) and rocks Ana’s world. Despite her best efforts to keep him at arm’s length, he finds himself falling for this red-headed firecracker.

I love this author’s books because they are about normal folks, with normal, satisfying jobs and who enjoy the simple things in life. I also love the Florida beach-town setting and the Florida locations in the spotlight.

Did I mention the sex scenes are absolutely off-the-charts? You will definitely need a cold shower after reading Afraid to Love! Teddy is a fantastic book boyfriend, too. I am keeping this review clean because this book surprised me with its sexy times. I think this author has lots of room for growth in future books – I bought a copy of Afraid to Love to check whether some of the small editing issues had been addressed; they are minor but this author deserves a perfectly-put-together book because her stories are definitely worth reading! I highly recommend this book for a hot, sexy book about two people who may not be looking for love but definitely find their HEA.

This is the second book in the series . I fell in love with this book with in the first few pages. I think this is the favorite book so far in the series. This book is full of emotional roller coaster of emotions that pulled on my heart strings. I fell in love with most of the characters in this book. I love the strong women in this book because they know what they want and how to get it. The men in this book are smoking " Hot " and know how to handle a women. The sexually chemistry in this book maybe to handle.

Ana has had some bad luck with men in her past . So she likes to keep the men with a no string attach relationship. That is until she meets Teddy and then every thing she wanted changed. But she try's to refuse how she feels for him and try's to push him away. But you can't fight what the heart wants or will it be to late.

Teddy loves what he does for a living and it comes with some benefits of the jobs. He lives for the moment because that way he can try to for get the past. That is until he meets Ana and that stops him dead in this tracks . Because just one night with Ana will never be enough for him after one taste of her.

Can they heels each other or will their past be to much for them .

I did not want to much information about this book because it is to amazingly , sizzling and smoking hot not to read . I cant wait to read more form this author. This is a must read .

What happens when all you are looking for is a night of hot sex with no attachments, you could possibly find your forever after.

Ana Perrot is a passion woman who has loved and been burned. She now believes that casual sex is the way to go. No reason to have feeling or have your heart involved. She only needs pleasure for a night or two. Never staying long enough to get attached but is one night enough with bartender Teddy O’Rourke?

Teddy O’Rourke never truly been love before is instantly attracted to fiery red head that is sitting at the bar counter where he works. She is showing all the signs of a sure thing for the night. He is more than happy to take her up on that offer. But once he has Ana in his arms and bed for the night, he has a foreign feeling in his chest telling him, one night is not going to be enough.

As Ana and Teddy agree to a couple more nights of passionate hard core sex, feelings in both of them wanting more come to the surface. But secrets from both of their lives can there this all apart. Ana slow to trust again with all of her heart and Teddy with secrets of loss must learn to trust in what is in front of them.

I enjoyed this story from the very beginning. Ana and Teddy were both strong characters and love their banner through out the book. And the sex scenes were descriptive and amazing. The author truly has a way with words. Come follow the journey of finding unconditional love with Ana and Teddy.

You have done it again MJ with an amazing read! I loved Ana in fire in his eyes her protectiveness over her sister. In afraid to love we still get the fiery and fun loving Ana.

But we also see how her past and secrets keep her from truly opening up to teddy. Teddy has his own secrets but when they do come out it's not what you would expect. He also didn't reveal this part of him because he was ashamed but that it truly slipped his mind and didn't matter.

I loved this book. Not only did it bring real issues to the table but show you that love can get you through it all.

My favorite line in the book is when it's said that " you dream of a family, but family, my dear, comes in all kinds of forms, shapes, sizes, colors, genders. Family is the people who love you,and who you let love you in return."

That alone is such a powerful statement and touches the very deepest part of ones heart.

Ana (sister of Monica from book 1) Works In a prison for boys. She love hot steam kinky sex. Isn't one for settling down. Then she Meets Teddy, a bartender.
Teddy Is everything a women could ask for .. Willing to please and fulfill every desire his woman wants. Ana Just wants to hook up with Teddy. She had a bad experience when she was married. He ex husband cheated on her and even gave her a STD. Which caused her to not to ever want to be in a relationship again.
Teddy on the other never thought about being in a relationship till he meets Ana. Ana continuous to push Teddy away and Teddy is as patient as he can be with her. The Question is Will Teddy win Ana's heart. Or Will Ana runaway from a man that loves her truly ?
This Story offered you drama, romance, sizzling hot sex, and a Sexy HOT Alpha man! I would definitely pick up book 1 and 2 They are worth the read. and Keep you nice and toasty through the night.

You should read book one, Fire in his Eyes, before you read this one. The same main characters are in both books. Having said that you don't wanna miss these two brilliant books.

Ok I really loved book one so I was wary starting this as sometimes book two doesn't live up to my expectations. In this case I loved book two even more.

This is Ana and Teddys story. Ana is a fiery and independent strong character. The one thing she doesn't want is a relationship. Teddy must try and break through her walls to reach her heart. I loved the sex scenes in this story. They were hot!!

Really hope this author is busy writing more great stories like these two.
Highly recommend reading these two books.

Ana is a self proclaimed bachelorette. She has a past that has scarred her from men and any relationships with them. That is until one night, she took her sister Monica to a club and she met the bartender while her sister met someone else. It was a night that would forever change her life. It started out as just her usual way but then things grew. She didn't want them to because if they did she would have to tell him her past and take a chance she didn't want to. Will she take the chance or will she make the choice for him ? Will she get past her history and live happy or will she stay living in the past?

I would recommend reading book 1 (Fire In His Eyes (Secrets & Seduction, #1)) in this series before reading this one. I was pulled right into the book.

Ana is crazy about sex. When she goes out one night she sets her sights on Teddy. Teddy is the bartender. He has no problem being with Ana. He would really like more than one night but will Ana let him have another night?

Ana is keeping secrets. Can she push Teddy away from her so he never finds out her secrets? If he finds out will he still want her? Or should she keep him as close as she can?

I recommend this book. Can’t wait for the next book in this series.

She is now 34, and for the last 10 years she has limited her exposure of men to one night stands and such.

I have to admit I nearly cut one star from my review for one glaring medical error that really bothered me. You see Ana has been a diabetic since she was a child. In the copy I reviewed in chapter two Ana begins to feel a bit dizzy, and she knows her blood sugar is low. So what does she do? Does she get some juice or glucose tablets to raise her glucose levels? No, she injects insulin into her stomach?! Anyone who knows anything about diabetes will tell you that is a sure fire way to kill yourself. Insulin is used to lower high blood sugar, not to raise low blood sugar. This glaring error nearly threw me off the book entirely.

However, after finishing the book, I was so taken by the story and the characters that I forgot about that serious medical error and decided to give the book 5 stars in spite of it. Although, I would still strongly encourage the author to go back and edit that section. The injection does feature prominently in the story, so I don't think it can be removed entirely, but she should be complaining about high blood sugar before the injection, not low blood sugar.

Anyway, the sex scenes in this book are fire hot.

Review: Jo Rushton 3.5 Stars Book Gifted for Honest Review

Afraid to Love is a fun, sexy read that told the story of Ana and Teddy. Ana loved sex but for some reason was afraid of commitment and as such enjoyed flings without the strings attached. She was a sexy, confident and independent woman and I really liked her character.
"Men were good for only one thing in her opinion. Jaded was she? Most assuredly. She had been burned and so now she did the burning."

Teddy was a hot bar tender who fancied Ana the moment she walked into his bar. A one night stand between the pair led to another... then another.... then another.. see where I am going with this? Teddy wanted more but Ana was going to take some persuading.

Things moved fast between this couple. When Ana and Teddy were together they were hot and exciting and they really knew how to spice things up in the bedroom!
"I will do whatever you tell me to do in the bedroom. As long as you don't put either one of us in danger, I will be happy to fulfill your fantasies."
"Shit Ana!, You sound like every guys wet dream!"

As the story progressed it became clear that Ana was hiding her past from Teddy. Something was stopping her making the leap into a relationship. Would Ana eventually be able to open up to him?

I was a bit confused by Teddy. When he first met Ana I instantly liked him, he was fun and sexy but my opinion soon changed when he appeared to be very keen to move their relationship on after only a few days. I thought he was turning into a bit of a stalker! I was a little worried for Ana. If it was up to Teddy, I'm sure they would have been married after a week! My concerns for Ana were short lived though. Teddy turned out to be a really nice, caring guy and he was falling head over heels in love with Ana, his ideal woman.
"She was his fantasy. He knew he was falling hard for this woman. She was his match in every way, and he hoped he could make her see it."

I did enjoy "Afraid To love" however it failed to capture me as much as I would have liked. There was no epilogue which disappointed me becauseI would loved to have found out what the future held for this couple. The story was written in third person style which I struggled with at times. Overall though I found the story to be a good one that left me with a smile on my face.
"Afraid To Love" gets 3.5 hearts from me!

Thank you Mairlyn.
We gave this book 4 stars.

Afraid to Love is a wonderfully written love story that is full of emotion and passion that carries a message about love, trust and family that you will enjoy.

Ana Perrot a woman holding a dark secret. An ex-husband has left her heart shattered she has lost all trust in men. She is a mid 30's independent, successful, woman who lives her own life as she sees fit and plays by her own rules. She thrives on sex and will do almost anything for pleasure. Casual sex no commitments is her motto.

Teddy O’Rourke a mid 30's laidback, oozing sex appeal, ex-cop, bartender holding secrets of his own. He thrives on the bar scene and enjoying life including all the women that throw themselves at his feet. He never has a problems finding willing partners for that one night stand. His family is his true life and someday he hopes to have his own.

This wonderful tale starts:
Ana takes her sister out to have some fun at a local bar. While her sister is dancing Ana starts to flirt with the tall hunk of a bartender (Teddy). The two hook up for that proverbial one night stand. A single man enjoying his freedom. A single woman seeking great sex. Is there something there? Have they both meet their match? Will love weave its fingers into their lives, will Ana trust again or will? ..............

This is a truly enjoyable story and the author, MJ Nightingale, did a outstanding job of portraying the strong characters of Ana and Teddy along with all the supporting characters in this story.
I did have a love/hate thing going on with Ana at times with her inability to try to trust. But Teddy "Teddy Bear" was so easy to fall in love with that I was championing for him from the start. The sex scenes, there are many, were descriptive but so well written that they never took away from the story line of trust and commitment.

I won't give anything away. It is a great rollercoaster ride with a few twists and turns along with way. A few tears were shed, especially after reading a letter Teddy's mother wrote. I loved the ending and hope you will too and that you won't be disappointed in reading this wonderful story. Great job MJ Nightingale.

Afraid to Love is a companion novel to Fire in his Eyes. But, being as I have yet to read the first one, this can be read as a standalone.

Ana has a difficult past, due to those experiences short term, one night stands are her men of choice. She’s been burned before and would prefer not to relive those experiences again. But, a smoking hot ex-cop turned bartender stirs all sorts of things to life, making her hunger for things that may make her run.

Teddy wouldn’t call himself dominant but when that smoking hot redhead whipped out those scarves, he was a goner. As the game progresses, the stakes get even higher. Sometimes, someone needs to break before they realize just how much they have.

Afraid to Love has a strong set of characters and a great story-line. I fell in love with Teddy, Ana, Louisa and Monica because each of them have their own heart breaking back-stories that are all so very different. But, somehow, they managed to come together and heal each other. I think to bring this book into five-stars, it has serious potential, it needs a little TLC. I could follow to story easily but there were a few areas throughout the novel that were a little repetitive and monotonous, where I paused for a couple seconds thinking “Didn’t I just read this?” (it didn’t start until halfway through though). There were a few minor editing errors that didn’t halt my reading any so those are minor blimps and don’t affect my rating.

Occasionally I had some issues connecting with the characters, especially when readers are being given their back stories, I just didn’t feel their pain. I could read it, get enough to imagine that scene but that was it. Maybe it’s because the novel is in a third person perspective?? Actually, that could be my issue! Being as this novel is emotionally driven (heart-wrenching and hot), I think it would benefit greatly from being in a first person perspective either Teddy or Ana’s. Now don’t come to maim me, I’m not finished. I mentioned hot right? MJ’s sex scenes are fan-holy-fuck-me-tastic. Teddy and Ana practically have their own solar flare going they’re that hot.

While I did have a couple issues with the story, I still found it to be an engaging read. It’s emotional, you’ll love the characters even though at times you’ll want to strangle Ana. But, with a change of perspectives and a few more details this could solidly be a five-star book.

I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.

I definitely think this was a wonderful love story between a woman who had issues with falling in love and a man who claims he's never been in love before.

Ana Perrot has been badly hurt and doesn't want to ever fall in love again. She vowed that she would only play the field and move on to the next and would be very careful about never falling in love with any of her conquests.

Teddy O'Rourke is a bartender who isn't looking for love. He loves to have his one night stands and he's had an occasionally relationship here and there but never has fallen in love with any of his partners.

One night Ana decides to take her sister out on the prowl just to have some fun and she ends up flirting with Teddy. Ana loves to flirt and she right away hits on Teddy and they hook up that night. One night turns into many nights with these two.

Ana is starting to feel like Teddy is wanting more than just an occasional fling and she is working hard at pushing him away. Ana is damaged and thanks to her ex-husband who cheated on her before and during their marriage. She then comes to find out that she contracted a sexually transmitted disease from him and ends up having a whole hysterectomy done and could never have children.

Teddy has a pretty shady past as well. His mother was an alcoholic and he was later adopted by a wonderful couple who had adopted 7 other children. He had a loving and great family even though they weren't blood related.

Teddy's dream was to have a family of his own and Ana knew she couldn't give him what he wanted and craved. She vowed she would spend one last night with him before she let him go. Teddy wrote her a beautiful love letter expressing his love for her and it broke Ana's heart.

Can Ana overcome her fear of falling in love again and telling Teddy the truth about her past? Can Teddy accept Ana once she confesses to him the reason why she can't have any kids?

I fell in love with this story. I thought it was well written and the story itself was beautiful. There are so many women or men out there that can't have kids and either their relationship falls apart for that reason or they resort to adopting.

I definitely give this book 4.5 stars!

“Afraid To Love” by MJ Nightingale
3 out of 5 stars

Ana is on the prowl! She’s looking for a guy who can rock her world in the bedroom and leave the relationship nonsense at the door. Teddy is a bartender who lands on her radar and he doesn’t stand a chance once she begins her seduction. They come together in an explosion of sexual heat and what was supposed to be a one night stand becomes something else entirely. When the walls that Ana wraps tightly around herself begin to crack, will she let Teddy in or push away a once in a lifetime chance at love?

If you are looking for a lot of steamy sex then this book is for you. Teddy and Ana have heat and that does transfer to the pages that Nightingale has written. Their relationship in the bedroom is rooted in the dominant/submissive style and Nightingale does well writing their dynamic. I was able to buy in to the roles they were playing very easily. I give kudos to her for that.

However, I wanted more. I wanted more back story and more character development. There are reasons that Ana has become the woman she is and while you do finally get to those reasons, they come too close to the end of the book. Teddy has the potential to be a great character. He comes from an amazing family and I would have loved to spend more time getting to know him, but once again it all comes too far into the book. By the time I got a glimpse at who these people really are and what motivates them it was too late for me to become invested in them. I wanted to have more of a reason to keep flipping the pages and I was struggling to find one. I need more of an emotional connection to the characters I read and I just wasn’t getting that with this book.

Great sex…check. Light read…check. If those are the things you are looking for then you should check this one out. Perhaps Nightingale has plans for a sequel that will give me the more in-depth look at the characters I was looking for. I will definitely be on the lookout.

I love teddy. did i say i love teddy because I do. He has had a difficult past in terms of the horrors he saw as a police officer but he is funny, kind, sweet, gentle, caring and dang the bedroom moments holy batcave batman. the man is well you need to read it to grasp okay maybe even grasping with one hand can't happen but you know what I mean.

Teddy meets the lovely but broken and confusing Anna at the bar he works at. thinking this will be just a one nighter filled with some passionate moments (and they are smokin' throughout the book honest), they get together. Except Teddy feels more that a one nighter and wants more. So does Ana but she doesn't admit her attraction she will only admit that it is for the satisfaction he gives her in bed. they continue to see each other, Teddy rearranges his schedule and everything and become closer. As this happens Teddy opens up more to her and sees a future. Ana sees confusion and shuts down.

teddy knows this and patiently waits for ana to open up. She does some but not alot. Ana does however get mad a Teddy for inserting himself into her world. Problem being she likes it but doesn't want to. In Orlando she hears him say something and instead of asking stews about it and is cold towards him. teddy decides to write her a letter on how he feels and puts it in her bag for when she is away so she can have time to think. Love that boy. The letter is so amazing and precious. So when Ana gets drunk she asks Teddy and he is honest with her and it will break you heart because ana is touched and knows he loves her but is holding back. she even gets this bonehead idea to leave him after she tells him her secret. Sad thing is she does this even after finding out Teddy is adopted. You truly want to smack her upside the head.

Teddy doesn't give up though and meddling occurs. Love the meddling. the letter from Teddy's mom is so heartwarming that it wakes up Ana kind of. She still is boneheaded though.

A story of letting go of the past and your insecurities so that you can let love in. A story of love and understanding. a gorgeous love story that will have you root for the HEA.

Afraid To Love is a companion novel to Fire In His Eyes and follows the same timeline. You can read either one first. If you enjoyed Fire In His Eyes you will definitely want to read Afraid To Love.

Ana Perrot loves sex without the complications of commitment. She has issues with love because she has been hurt terribly in the past and it left her feeling like she was less of a person. Ana likes it a little kinky in the bedroom, and one night out with her sister and she finds just the person that could satisfy her needs in the bedroom. Teddy O'Rourke.

Teddy O'Rourke loves his life without complications. He has fun with women and has never met anyone that made him think otherwise, until he meets the beautiful, tall, red-headed Ana. He knows he has met his match. He comes from a huge loving family and he believes he could have that with Ana.

Ana and Teddy's relationship is supposed to be only based on sex, but both have undeniable attraction and chemistry in and out of the bedroom. Their sex life is anything but ordinary, both loving to experiment and giving each other pleasure they never thought possible. The more time they spend together the more they fall in love with one another. Ana's insecurities are hindering their relationship to progress into something more serious. Teddy is a patient man and will wait for Ana, he wants her for the long haul. Can Teddy prove she is everything he dreams of? Will Ana overcome being afraid to Love?

I loved Ana and Teddy's story. It was steaming HOT during the sex scenes and could also be heartbreaking at times. It ended perfectly with an HEA. I like MJ Nightigale's writing style, you get both POVs without it being separated by chapters so it flows nicely. Highly recommend!

Ana is a 34 year old woman who loves sex and pleasing her lovers. She isn't afraid to go after what she wants, or admit what she doesn't want. For reasons related to some experiences she had in her early 20's, she does not want a relationship or commitment. She begins an affair with a fun and super sexy bartender her age named Teddy. They click immediately and their sexual chemistry is off the charts. It is clear that Teddy is falling in love with Ana and she starts to panic about what to do. Her own feelings are confusing to her, but she knows that she can't let things get too deep. She comes to realize that may not be an option.

I liked this book better than the first in the series. It was interesting to read this one after the first because they take place during much of the same time frame and seeing bits of Monica and Victor from on outside perspective. All in all, I really enjoyed Ana and Teddy. Ana was a character who has been through some tough situations, but for the most part came out the other side. She is strong, loyal, sexy, and honest about who she is. Teddy is pretty spectacular all around. He's hot, sexy, kind, and has tried to do what he needed to for himself after going through some serious tragedies in his own younger life. He is honest with Ana about what he wants and patient while she works through her own barriers. As with the first book in the series, I found some of the dialogue a little choppy, but nothing that took me away from the story for long. The sexy parts are very sexy and the chemistry between Ana and Teddy can't be denied. I enjoyed this story and am glad that I continued on with this series. 3.5 stars.

Afraid to Love by MJ Nightingale

Ana Perrot is thirty-four, she’s single and loving it. She doesn’t believe in relationships just really good sex. For the past ten years this has worked for her, none of her partners have ever complained.

“She liked them a little younger anyway. They were easier to control and more readily agreed to her conditions, her rules.”

Teddy O’Rourke is almost thirty-four. He has been a bartender for the last ten years, he enjoys it and it more than pays the bills and there’s really no stress involved. He enjoys women but he’s never been in love.

“Ana had been with many men, but this man by far had the best body she had ever seen.”

I met Ana and Teddy in book one, Fire in His Eyes, and liked them then. Now I LOVE them. I wish I could meet Teddy. The way he is described in this book, he’s takes good care of his body, is very well hung and no woman has ever not been satisfied. The sexual attraction between these two is INCREDABLE. The fact that Ana will do anything in the bedroom adds A LOT of spice to this story. The situations these two encounter are real life situations, not the same old misunderstandings in most romance books. Ana deals with some deep emotional issues that stem from her past and the issues Teddy battles just make me want to hung him and cry. I would have given this book a 5 star review if the editing had been better. I give this book 4 stars with 4.5 hands down the pants.

Afraid To Love by M.J. Nightingale

I received Afraid to Love in exchange for an honest review, and I really liked this story. Afraid to Love is a companion book to Fire in His Eyes. I did not read Fire in His Eyes before reading Afraid to Love because it can be read as a stand alone book. Afraid to Love is Ana and Teddy’s story. Fire in His Eyes is Monica and Victor’s story and they do make appearances in Afraid to Love. I look forward to reading Fire in His Eyes next.

The story is a great story and the sex scenes are HOT!HOT!HOT! If you are looking for a book with STEAMY HOT scenes this is the one. This book had me in just the first few pages. I laughed, cried, and cheered while reading this book.

Ana is a girl with a wild side, but when you read about her past you understand why she is the way that she is. Teddy is just total hotness!!! He will melt your heart and is an AWESOME book boyfriend.

I loved the story line. This is unlike anything that I have read, in that it covered some subject matters that I have never seen in a book. I actually learned some things about the subject matter that I had only heard about.

If you are looking for a good read and some really steamy scenes, then this is the book for you!!! Give it a chance. I am looking forward to reading more from M.J. Nightingale!!!
