Rate this book
A highly requested Book with 500K Reads on Watt Pad. More Drama, More Scenes, More Kya.

For Too Long, 20-year-old Kya Brown has tried to be a good girl in fear of disappointing her overbearing parents. “Focus on God and school.” that’s all her parents seem to talk about lately. But with her best friend's encouragement, she dips her toes in the pool of desire for the first time. For Her the adult world is all new and exciting—smoking, drinking, lust—Kya dives into it all, but in hindsight guilt and lies always seems to follow. Why does pleasure have to be so complicated? The deeper Kya sinks into temptation, the more others in her life start to get dragged down with her. When Kya finally comes up for air, will she return to her sheltered life? Or was she ever that girl in the first place?

What even is this? Every single character, ESPECIALLY the protagonist, was horrible. Absolutely horrible. This book was messy from the very beginning to the very end. Everything moved at lightning speed and it took me forever to push through reading this. I completed this book out of pure spite. It never takes me this long to complete a book. This left me questioning the protagonist’s choices every 2 to 3 pages. What does being queer have to do with being a terrible person? She’s a blatant liar and plays stupid and victim throughout the entirety of 300 pages. She passively accepts everything that she knows is wrong as long as it aligns with her real desires. How on earth was it decided that she deserved a good outcome? Diabolical. The love interests were described as “fine” no less than 50 times. And apparently all the protagonist does is giggle constantly? The self aggrandizing was over the top as well. It was just so awkward to read. There was no character growth. Like, this was all so unserious.

It’s giving childish… I’m trying hard to push through, but Kya has really struck a nerve in the worst ways possible. Her integrity? A joke. Honesty? Dead. Not feeling it. A very unserious story start to finish.
