English review below the Greek one...
Πολύ ευχάριστο βιβλίο, από αυτά που διαβάζονται καλύτερα λίγες σελίδες χαλαρά κάθε μέρα, παρά από αυτά που τα διαβάζεις σε ένα απόγευμα.
Κάποιες ιστορίες από διαφορετικές περιοχές μοιάζουν μεταξύ τους - τύπου το παλικάρι που παντρεύτηκε τη νεράιδα/γοργόνα και μόλις εκείνη βρήκε το κρυμμένο μαντήλι της την κοπάνησε για το νεραϊδόκοσμο/τα βάθη της θαλάσσης-, ωστόσο σε αντίθεση με το τι πιστεύει ο περισσότερος κόσμος, οι μύθοι εκείνων των περιοχών έχουν πολύ μεγαλύτερη ποικιλία από απλά ένα μικρό ξωτικό που κάνει τον τσαγκάρη ή μια νεράιδα που πετάει από λουλούδι σε λουλούδι. Δεκάδες διαφορετικά πλάσματα με συμπεριφορές που ξαφνιάζουν, θρύλοι τρομακτικοί, λυπητεροί ή ευφρόσυνοι και διδακτικοί, όπως σε όλες τις μυθολογίες του κόσμου και μάλιστα εδώ με συνοδεία σκίτσων της ίδιας της συγγραφέα.
Υπάρχουν και χάρτες κάθε περιοχής, οπότε το βιβλίο εκτός των άλλων εμπλούτισε και την γεωγραφία μου!
Μια πολύ καλή επιλογή αν σας ενδιαφέρει το αντικείμενο!
I read this book - a few pages every day for several weeks- in a very leisure fashion and I enjoyed it a lot!
I guess some stories from different areas seem identical and may be a bit too much to devour in one go, but in general there are many diverse types of fairy folks and other creatures and several different myths to keep one interested. I was familiar with some tales but not with everything and I always find folklore a fascinating subject, so this was a great book to read for pleasure.
The maps and pictures drawn by the author herself is a very nice touch too and I improved not only my knowledge of the British Isles myths and legends, but my geography too.
A nice choice if you are interested on the subject matter.
