Wilby Linfox is the world's biggest flirt…From the moment he stumbles into my life—drunk, singing, and shirtless—I knew he'd be trouble… But I had no idea just how much trouble he'd be.

But I'm in Australia to do exactly three things: work, check out some touristy hotspots, and scatter my mother's ashes.

Not on the cards? Getting sidetracked by a charming, ruggedly handsome Aussie vet who's quite possibly got the loudest laugh in the southern hemisphere.

Another thing I wasn't expecting? Finding out my work puts me on a direct collision course with Wilby Linfox.

Wilby
Sometimes you meet someone and you just know they're going to mean something to you.

That's what happened with Col Langdon. Sure, he's a cranky, uptight New Yorker who seems strangely immune to my serenading, but he's been living rent-free in my head since the night we met.

It makes no sense. I'm the king of casual. After a good time, not a long time. But with Col…it's different.

When he shows up unexpectedly in my hometown, I hope it means we get to rekindle what we started in Sydney.

But then I find out the real purpose of his visit, and my feelings for him explode into a volcanic rage. If Col thinks he can waltz in here and destroy my family, I'll give him the biggest fight of his life.

If you enjoyed Vet Shop Boys, you'll love Vet Shop Boys Down Under!

The Flirty Vet is packed with deliciously fun low angst / high heat adventures lovers to enemies to lovers, bi awakening, grumpy/sunshine, forced proximity, chosen family, gorgeous Aussie vets, small-town shenanigans, and a heartwarming happily ever after!

Warning! After reading "THAT" scene, you may never be able to look at kangaroos the same way again!

What happens when an up-tight New Yorker meets a flighty Aussie vet.

Wilby was this out and proud and had no shame who knew Australian. he's a veterinarian with a love of Karaoke and flying and of course, animals. He's also a bit wild, crazy, and flirty... but in a good way. He has many friendships and great colleagues, that made him a pleasure to get to know and Col wanted to know him better.

Col on the other hand is more reserved, anxious, especially when it comes to flying...so let's send the poor guy to Australia...FROM NEW YORK no less!! He's also not very outgoing, actually he's way too serious most of the time. In spite of this he's a good, reliable fellow with a great big heart. I really liked him... and so did Wilby. Col would do anything for Wilby, including flying all over Australia when the need occurred.

Wilby has a rather mixed-up family, and because of the way the family long go wrote the land deed, they are now in danger of losing their home and land ...if they don't either pay millions of dollars...which they don't have or losing the land. Wilby's vet hospital, his lively hood, sits on that land...and guess who has been flown to Australia to work out payment? You guessed it...Col, who is now head over heels in love with Wilby.

Wilby finds out that Col is the guy the company has been flown half-way around the world to collect payment or land...but now sees what it means to Wilby and his mixed-up family and works to find a way for the land to remain in the family...but Wilby won't listen to him...at first.

I didn't quite understand what worked in that deal and what didn't, but let's just say more DID than DIDN'T. Col and Wilby made a great couple and I'm looking forward to meeting them again in the next book.

4.5 stars for the narration, 3.5 stars for the story

Casey Cox is an author I’ve been meaning to try for a some time, and The Flirty Vet also gave me the opportunity to listen to Rupert Channing (I think this might be his first m/m romance narration under this name) – a narrator whose been on my radar for a while, so I got to kill two birds with one stone with this one!

Wilby Linfox is an Australian vet who lives (and sometimes works) on the family’s remote cattle farm, and when the book begins, he’s just received some really bad news – namely that thanks to years of mismanagement, they’re in massive debt and will probably lose the farm and their home. He’s wandering the streets of Sydney after spending the evening drowning his sorrows, singing at the top of his voice when a guy shouts angrily from the window of his hotel room that he should cut it out as he’s trying to sleep. This is our other protagonist, Col Langdon, an American who has travelled to Australia on business and is struggling to deal with the jet lag.

That’s the meet-cute. Wilby is larger than life, an inveterate flirt with no verbal filter, and he invites Col out for a drink; Col figures he might as well seeing as he’s not going to sleep any time soon. They have a good night together (even thought it doesn’t have quite the happy ending they’d both hoped for!) and Wilby plays tour guide for most of the next day until Col has to leave. There’s a definite connection there, but there’s no time to explore anything further.

Of course, that isn’t the end for Wilby and Col, because it turns out that Col’s business is actually (coincidentally!) taking him to the remote small town of Scuttlebutt that is Wilby’s home. So far so good. And the first half of the book is a lot of fun, full of great dialogue and flirty banter and terrific chemistry (although the first sex scene is… odd – more of a list of locations they fucked than an actual sex scene, and the arsehole winking was just… weird!), but it goes completetly off the rails once Col’s reasons for visiting Scuttlebutt are revealed.

Okay, it’s not hard to guess, because we’ve already learned that the company Col works for provides financial services to agricultural businesses – but I was really pleased when the story turned out NOT to be that of the evil-property-developer-out-to-land-grab versus impoverished-farmer-desperate-to-keep-the-family-farm. In fact, Col’s company specialises in helping people in Wilby’s position to achieve a positive outcome wherever possible – but instead of working with him, Wilby immediately assumes the worst and starts acting like a childish brat, won’t answer Col’s calls, texts or emails, and then decides to fly around the country to visit a couple of friends (a billionaire and reality TV star respectively) to see if they have any ideas as to what he can do. [From reading reviews, these characters appeared in other books by this author, and I’m not a fan of gratuitous ‘where are they now’ cameos when they serve no real plot-related purpose.]

The story never really recovers after this; instead of taking the opportunity for some character and relationship development in the middle section by showing Col and Wilby working together to save the farm, we get Wilby behaving like a petulant child and wasting time while time is literally running out on finding a way to save the farm. Wilby does man up eventually, of course, but by this point, the story is flagging and the rest of it involves much wringing-of-hands by Col and Wilby – two grown men - about how they can’t be together because they live in different countries but never really discussing their options.

For an audiobook that comes in at around nine and a half hours, there’s not a great deal of story here, but Rupert Channing’s narration was enough to keep me listening through the flabbier parts. I think he’s Australian, but his American accent is spot on and he switches seamlessly between accents in the dialogue, and from chapter to chapter (it’s alternating first person PoV). His portrayals of Wilby and Col are excellent; Wilby’s big, brash personality and Col’s more cautious nature are captured really well, and his interpretation of Wilby’s six-year-old nephew is credible and cute. It’s a strong performance all round, although some of the male voices – Wilby’s friends and colleagues, Col’s friend Brant – sound quite similar, and I sometimes needed dialogue tags to work out who was speaking. But I’d definitely listen to Mr. Channing again, and might pick up the next book in the series, which seems to be an “oops – we got married by accident!” story about two long-time (straight) friends.

To sum up – The Flirty Vet is a funny, low-angst story with a strong setting and some entertaining secondary characters. It started out strong, but lost its way around the halfway mark and never really got back on track. Rupert Channing’s narration is worth the price of admission, however, and I definitely plan on listening to him again.

What a masterly written story!!

This story takes place in Australia and I love it.
Wilby has a witty way with words, he’s a tease, fun and sunny. Meeting grumpy New Yorker Col while singing along the streets brought them together. Wilby was the one singing and Col complained from his hotel window about the irritating noise.

The time they spent together was unforgettable. Both are impressed. It seems a goodbye wasn’t even a real goodbye. Col is here for business and ends up in Willy’s town.
Wilby is an open book, oh boy he so is <3. Col on the other hand is a very closed book but is willing to tell one secret, he’s also here to scatter his mother’s ashes.

Wilby is a vet. Living the good life, and has some awesome hobbies, something he’s willing to share with Col.
Col has anxiety attacks, unwilling to share but they happen, so Wilby is witnessing them.

“She’s a Cessna 170. Single engine, four seater. Pure joy to fly. Made in the USA just like you…”

While Wilby is a shining bright star with no harm in him, he’s also quite protective, with a bunch of responsibilities on his shoulders.

Finding out Col’s business purpose and the consequences for Wilby’s family business is reason enough to cut off any communication. Both are miserable.

Oh boy, we arrived at the enemies-to-lovers part, read yourself why this is… funny!

The author did an excellent job on character development, gosh what a guys they are, so much to learn about them! Read it! read it! read it! That’s my advice!

If you are familiar with this author you know you’ll laugh a lot, but also be deeply moved, have goosebumps, and tears dripping. This story was all this!
A full, overflowing with feelings story, with rich characters and details, absolutely stunningly developed! Every time I finish a Casey Cox’s book I think this is my favorite, yes, this is my favorite!

Word of the day: Competitive! Ha!

Disclaimer: I love books set in Australia, where its people seem so low profile.
This book is so much fun, specially Wilby, the Australian who speaks what is on his mind, no filters and with an amazing confidence. Col, who we’ve met in the Christmas book “Clausing a Scene” (recommend the reading, not mandatory) is a New Yorker who goes to Australia in a work trip, where he met Wilby. What begins with a one-night stand, ends being a long-time affair until reality crashes upon Wilby and Col.
Could their attraction between them be over distance and fear of loosing?
Highly recommended!

Wilby Linfox (25) - Australian vet, who also works on his family's remote cattle farm which is on the brink of financial ruin after his mother's death some months earlier.
Col Langdon (26) - American Executive Director (Asia Pacific) of Corbin, Gifford, and Brysen an agricultural financial service provider, in Australia for work, the sight-see, and scatter his mother's ashes.

I... don't really know how I feel about this one. It started of strong, with a great meet-cute between Col and Wilby, memorable night, and adorable day of sight-seeing before their time together ran out. Their reunion was swoony and their chemistry was delicious. The banter and dialogue were top notch, I mean, seriously funny, clever, and heart-warming by turns - I both smiled and teared up throughout the book. Unfortunately, it felt like we got delightful banter and steamy sex (which I have no problem with) that came at the expense of plot beyond a few surface level conversations about the past and some vague references to circumstances.

There were some great fun scenes and the odd emotional scene that kept me engaged, but for the most part the story-telling, character development, and relationship progression fell far short of what I was anticipating or hoping for, especially with the page count of this book. For me things kind of just fell apart at the halfway point, when Col's purpose for being in Australia and Wilby's situation collided and their relationship imploded.

Our protagonists barely spend any quality time together, Wilby spends the majority of the time with one foot out of the relationship, and the middle section of the book, when they could have been working together to try and save the family's farm, establishing them as a strong united front, seemed to serve simply as a 'where are they now' of characters from other books by the author. I've got to be honest gratuitous cameos just don't thrill me, especially when they are this big of a distraction.

I just couldn't understand Wilby's behaviour - he finds out the farm is in financial trouble, spends six weeks with his head in the sand about it, then, when things are down to the wire and Col shows up to discuss the situation in his professional capacity he (understandably) freaks out, (irrationally) refuses to speak with him about it, and .
Speaking of... I have no idea wtf Col is actually doing in Australia, like what his job actually entails and .

At about 80% Col itemizes all the reasons why he likes Wilby and I desperately wanted to have read that story, the hints and glimpses of it were there, but it never really manifested itself on page. The fact that at this point, Col was pretty much all in and Wilby was withdrawing - again - made me want to throw something at his head. Then the 'grand gestures' - by Col - had me rolling my eyes and scoffing in disappointment. We got a HEA, but I didn't really feel it.

I was given an ARC and voluntarily wrote an honest review.

The Flirty Vet
is a steam fun MM romantic comedy. This is the first stand alone in the Vet Shop Boys Down Under series and I can't wait for the rest of the series!

Col is in Australia for business but ends up meeting a loud, slightly obnoxious gorgeous local on his first night who he clicks with instantly. They have copious amounts of laughs and just as much sex, but when they live on opposite sides of the world is there any way for them to have a future.

"This isn't a competition to see who can blow first, Col." His eyes shine. "Everything is a competition." "I know I've said this before, but stop trying to make me fall in love with you. Competing is in my blood."

Col is a sweet character with his struggles with anxiety and his closed off personality. That doesn't stop him from participating in Wilby's verbal sparring. Wilby who is an absolute man child that you can't help but love. He definitely has no filter, he's full of himself, boarders on ridiculous, but he has a huge heart and his bond with his family is heartwarming. The two of them together is endless entertainment. The banter was on point, and the steam was also. They can't get enough of each other which means there are multiple intimate scenes but I honestly think their outside the bedroom adventures were my favorite.

Wilby stands, reaches across the table, and frames my face between his hands. "You're…" He's staring at me with the biggest smile on his face. "You don't even realize, do you?" "Realize what?" He chuckles. "Just how fucking awesome you are."

The Flirty Vet
by Casey Cox is a low angst romantic comedy that's a lot of fun filled with an anxious American and a larger than life Australian, fantastic supporting characters, family, karaoke, banter , steam and a HEA.

Other Favorite Quotes:

"Wilby, Wilby, Wilby, what am I going to do with you?" He shrugs, grinning. "Just marry me already and get it over and done with." "Why would I do that?" I head toward my luggage. "I plan on enjoying the rest of my life, thank you very much."

''I don't know what it is about you that makes you…" "So damn lovable?" He huffs out a laugh. "Lovable. Killable." "Different sides of the same coin."

"See, I have this thing." I lean over and whisper conspiratorially. "I kind of love you." "You should get that checked out," he replies before stuffing the entire scone in his mouth.

*Disclaimer* I was not aware this was an AI cover before requesting this ARC. I will honor my commitment and will review honestly based on the writing, but am really bummed to discover this. I support human artists.

"I want to know more about this story because it's classic Col, a mixture of shyness and wildness - I've only had gay sex once, but it was a gang bang with four other dudes - but I don't want us getting sidetracked."

I gotta say, I too wanted more details of this story but alas, it was just a tease and not to be. Col and Wilby were hilarious. They were constantly giving each other shit on top of trying to compete with one another in whatever they deemed a challenge. Even their meet cute was laugher inducing. I spent much of the book with a smile on my face which is the sign of a good book in my humble reader opinion.

I loved how these two brought out the best in one another. Wilby was wild, and Col's more anxious personality helped to bring him slightly closer to Earth. In return, Wilby helped to bring Col out of his comfort zone more and help him start living his life on his own terms and not some preconceived notion on how he should. It was a very good balance that worked out well for these two.

Wilby's family were just as awesome, especially his grandmother Polly. Col fit in with them like he was always meant to be there. Unfortunately, it took a bit longer to figure that out for himself. Wilby also has his own demons to fight before things could get on the path to smooth sailing. It also helped that his fellow aussie vets made sure to get through his thick skull with their advice as well.

It literally pains me that I may have to end my streak of reading Mr. Cox vet books, but if he continues with his AI cover streak of his own I feel like I will have to say my goodbyes. Crossing my fingers for a human artist cover for book 2!

This was a very very nice reading.
Col and Wilby have an amusing banter since from the start, their meet cute and their first night together is memorable and they feel so at ease with each other that they decide to spend the following day together.
It was not only because the mutual sexual attraction, but also because they're comfortable around each other, they feel that kind once-in-a-lifetime connection.
After 6 weeks apart, Col's job takes him to Wilby hometown and they immediately reconnect.

Col is an amazing character, I liked him very much in Clausing A Scene (his father and his best friend's story), he's reserved and quiet and he just recently realised he's bisexual.
Wilby, instead, is very loud, spontaneous, funny, cocky, out and proud but also genuine and honest, dedicated to his family and witha a big heart.
They both share the grief for losing their mothers, a feeling that will make them understand each other like no one else.

I really enjoyed their dynamic, how Col fit immediately into Wilby's life, how Wilby was attentive and caring, how explosive their sexual chemistry was, and especially how they never totally hide their feelings, even if they weren't totally sure where they would have lead them.
There are several obstacles that made their relationship hard, but their HEA is very satisfying.

It would have been a solid five star read but I had to drop one because I didn't like Wilby's behaviour toward the end of the story. I'm not going to leave spoilers, I'm edit my review once the book is released.

There are a lot of charcters from the author's previous book: Hig and Brant from Clausing A Scene, Gus and Tate from Got Me Looking, Dunlop and Robbie from Givers, Travis and Luca from Kings of Arlie series, Benjii from Nothing Special, Rove and Leo from Heart Unbroken are also mentioned.
The Aussie Vet gang is amazing, all the characters are amazing, funny and supportive.

I'm very curious about next book, The Quirky Vet, Fritz and Mui's story, I'm surely going to read it.
In the meantime. I recommend this one.

! received an ARC of this book from Neon Rainbow and this is my honest review.

What a gorgeous cover!
Honestly, Casey has done it this time, I'm an emotional mess of happy tears, despite the fun banter, this one is deeply emotional. Usually the first book in a series take time to get into whilst the scene is set, but, because we have a little bit of knowledge of some of the characters, the story gets going straight away. This might even be my favourite story by Casey and it takes a lot to beat The Vet Shop boys series. Casey writes such loveable characters that I would actually want to know in real life. Always funny, however, there is depth, big feelings and mountains to climb before love wins through, along with hot steamy scenes. I felt the bond between these two, it was the perfect romance story. Wilby was such a great character, he comes across as easy going and a joker, but he has a lot of responsibilities and not many people see how vulnerable and insecure he really is. Col is a ball of anxiety and together they create a harmony that balance out each other's worries. Nothing is plain sailing, otherwise it would be dull, and finding a solution to keeping their relationship going whilst both based in different countries isn't an easy task.
Polly and Kole play important roles in adding depth to the story, along with the vets; there is a lot of fun banter. The Australian outback sounds absolutely beautiful and I could really picture the dry dusty red earth and the deep blue sky with the farmhouse the only building for miles. I absolutely adored this book and I can't wait to continue this series with Muir and Fitz coming next. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Loving It Down Under

Loved , loved this one set way down under in a place called Scuttlebutt, out in the bush and red earth in Australia.

Willy is a gorgeous guy in so many ways, so funny though you need time to get used to the butchering of the English language in Aussieland. All of his humour is covering up so much of the trouble on his plate when the certainty that his family is going to lose their land and home. His salary as a part time Vet can’t help him keep his Gran, sisters and their kids all together in the home they’ve known forever.

Colwyn, aka Col sounds like his complete opposite in every way, he arrives in Sydney for work purposes all the way from New York. His job as a Financial Consultant involves him with farmers having hard times financially and helping them sort out the problems. Col has his own problems, especially his fear of flying, coming to terms with accepting his mother’s death even though it was many years ago. Plus, he’s getting feelings for Wilby.

I loved the way these two guys met, the spontaneity of doing what they did within minutes of seeing each other. ❤️❤️‍🔥.

Wilby, when he finds out about Col’s job, has him freaking out and he doesn’t trust him.

There are so many ups and downs between them and they may not get sorted out before Col’s bosses order him back to New York for retraining.

Adding to the fun here is a cast of Veterinarians whose antics and confusing relationships will have you wondering if they can keep their nose out of Wilby’s business and wake up to see what is going on among their own lives.

Looking forward to reading the next in this series and hoping the characters drop in so I can keep up with their progress, especially Linus and Ryde.

Wonderful Aussie spin off from The Vet Shop Boys.

This book had me captured from the very start and kept me up turning the pages. There’s a bit of angst, plenty of steam, a beautiful romance between two wonderful characters and to top it all off a gorgeous location (I’m an Aussie so I may be a smidge biased).

Wilby is a pretty much laid back Aussie outback character with a huge laugh that matches his sense of humour. Col is initially none of these things, just another cranky, anxious New Yorker until he crosses paths with Wilby. There is immediate attraction with sizzling chemistry but it takes more than that as they navigate a relationship where the obstacles seem to be insurmountable. The relationship and connection between them deepens as these competitive men finally get their well deserved HEA.

I can’t wait for more in this new series as there are a few interesting side characters just waiting for their story to be told.

I don't think there's a Casey Cox book that I don't like, and each one seems to be better than the last. Even though there were a lot of cameos from characters from other series, you don't need to have read them to follow along. (I do recommend reading them all, though.) I absolutely fell in love with the MCs and side characters, and I'm so excited for the next book in this series!

Down Under #1

I've not read this author before and for the most part this was an absolute hoot. This is set in Australia which I enjoyed.

Col travels to Australia from America for business. He's suffered anxiety since his teen years and he's a bit grumpy and stressed out about having to fly half way around the world. On his first night in Sydney he's woken up by Wilby, a noisy, drunk, half dressed bloke singing loudly and very badly as he stumbles along late at night. An irritated Col wanting to give this inconsiderate bloke a piece of his mind instead ends up spending the night and next day with him before they both go their separate ways.

Wilby has travelled from his home in the Australian outback to Sydney for business. Unfortunately his business doesn't go well so he ends up drinking away his sorrows. That was until he met the grumpy American and his luck took a turn for the better. After a memorable night and day together they go their separate ways until a chance meeting six weeks later brings them back together.

I enjoyed the descriptive and humorous writing style and loved both Wilby and Col. I probably should've started with the previous series The Vet Shop Boys as there's obviously cross over characters in this read. Still it was an enjoyable read and I'll be reading more from this author.

The Flirty Vet by Casey Cox is the first book in his Vet Shop Boys Down Under series. It is the story of two men who meet unexpectedly, fall in love over time, and then have to figure out how they can stay together when they live and work so far apart. Col Langdon lives in NYC but works for an agricultural financial company who help farmers if they get in trouble. He has just been promoted to work in Australia and surrounding countries and has flown to Sydney to start his job there. But he absolutely hates flying and has a lot of anxiety about it because of something that happened in his past. While he is staying at his hotel he hears a loud, drunk Aussie singing very badly and opens his window to yell at him. That is how he meets Wilby Linfox, a vet from the outback town of Scuttlebutt, who is in town. Wilby invites him for a drink which turns into being invited back to Col’s hotel room with hopes of more developing but has some funny results. It is at this time that they realize there is a huge spark of attraction and when they go their separate ways, knowing they won’t be together ever again, they can’t stop thinking about each other. Col continues his travels for work and Wilby works his family farm 100 miles away from Scuttlebutt but also works as a part time vet with the vet group there. Col’s last stop is in Scuttlebutt and when he remembers that Wilby lives there he is excited, especially when he hears his horrible voice singing karaoke. They get reacquainted, start hanging out together, learn more about each other, and realize they are heading towards falling in love. They also have many hot love scenes, especially when Col goes with Wilby back to his farm. There he meets his family and finds out what has happened to them. He doesn’t think much about this until he discovers that one of his cases involves Wilby’s farm and when he confronts Wilby about this, Wilby is furious and hurt. They then have to work things out and hopefully get a settlement that will allow his family to stay together. To do this Wilby enlists a couple of his friends (who had stories in previous books by Mr. Cox) to give him ideas as he avoids Col, but in the end they reach an agreement. They have fallen in love but now must face their biggest obstacle: Col is returning to New York and Wilby can’t leave his home. Luckily, after several weeks, they are able to figure things out and find their happy ending together. I really enjoyed this book. The biggest thing I love about it is that Wilby is larger than life in every aspect that leads to some extremely funny banter, with Col giving as good as he gets back at him, along with his constant need for food. I found myself chuckling or laughing out loud several times during each chapter. Despite Wilby’s claims that he was the biggest and best at everything, he is kind and caring of everyone he encounters, seeing to both Col’s and his family’s needs. Col is somewhat grumpy and neurotic with a lot of anxiety thrown in. He has his own past trauma but finds that everything eases when he is with Wilby, and wants to do everything he can to help him. Their friends and family members also add to the story, both past and present, and help you realize how both men got to where they are today, as well as giving them sound advice and root for them to be together. I highly recommend this book, especially if you like stories about men with complicated pasts who have to overcome a lot to be together and find true love in the end. And having some very funny scenes doesn’t hurt either!

'The Flirty Vet' (Vet Shop Boys Down Under, #1) written by Casey Cox, (Audible) narrated by Rupert Channing

Takes place in Australia: a mix of fun & flirty sexuality, along with serious family and personal issues that come up. I really liked both MCs!

There's a LOT of issues at stake in here, for both guys:
from the possibility of the Aussie, Wilby, losing the family ranch...to New Yorker Col's intense fear of flying, to major trust issues (both of them). Wilby has a deep-seated fear of being in a serious relationship and then getting abandoned and dumped by the person who "professed" to love him, because that's exactly what happened in his past during what he thought was a long-term relationship.

Ah, and then there's the problem of his oldest sister doing a runner, abandoning the ranch she was supposed to be in charge of, plus leaving behind her two young kids (honestly, better for them). Their younger sister is now traveling all over the country looking for her leaving Wilby to run the ranch with their grandma, and in charge of those kids.

Living in Australia's outback is intense because of the sweltering heat, drought conditions much of the time, being isolated from the big cities and those cultures and local medical care, and then there's a whole slew of poisonous and/or dangerous critters. Some people can't stand it; some people love it.

I liked this book a whole lot because of several important issues that were addressed. Glad that friends & family were coming together for both of them, in Australia and in USA, to help each of them in their own unique way to figure out how to deal with the various situations they found themselves entangled in.

Yeah, a few times things seemed stalled out, at some sort of impass. However, between themselves and the others they came up with some creative solutions to deal with it all.

On the Australia side, throw a couple of young kids and a salty-tongued grandmother who happens to be an amazing cook, into the mix, along with the 'Down Under Vet Shop Boys' who populate Wilby's veterinarian clinic workplace (and who, along with the townsfolk, all participate in Karaoke night at the local pub... to make it rain, of course), oh and the cowboys who take part in the "muster" (cattle roundup, to you Yanks) and you have a grand adventure!

Also, the way they looked out for each other and took care of each other, even if they were in the midst of a humdinger of a verbal fight, was something special and that made me like them even more!

"Boy Howdy!" could they make each other laugh! Then they'd get rowdy and steamy, smoking hot with each other in the blink of an eye! Fun times!

Really liked this book and it's interesting combination of silly fun and intense seriousness; can't wait to read the sequels!

Two thumbs up! 👍👍

The Flirty Vet is a perfect introduction to the Vet Shop Boys Down Under series. It has all of the heat and humour from the original series but with an added aussie pep, mostly provided by the wall of sunshine that is Wilby Linfox. The first time Col has the pleasure of his company, Wilby is drunkenly singing (badly) outside of Col's hotel room and there is no denying the charm and allure that the man gives. The relationship that develops between the two men is at times hilarious with the occasional dose of real life butting in and taking over for a moment or two.
Wilby's home and land is in trouble but getting to know Col brings new and unexpected feelings into the mix as he struggles to take care of his family, try and solve their financial problems, and spend as much time with Col as possible. This is happening whilst Col is trying to recover from flying half way around the world (humans are not supposed to be in the air!), finding himself falling for this charismatic and sunshiney man, whilst also making time for his job, which may just bring a snag to their budding relationship. That and Col is only there for a few weeks.
It's a really entertaining story from start to finish with emotions growing strong between them, as well as when they share in their loss of their mums. Col's may have passed nineteen years ago but that doesn't lessen the pain. Wilby is also dealing with an AWOL sister along with caring for her children and ensuring money is coming in to care for the family. I think he is especially sweet when it comes to being aware of Col's fear of flying and when interacting with his neice and nephew as it's clear how much they mean to him.
One of my favourite things is just how many characters from Casey's other series we get to meet up with throughout this book. Gus and Tate, Hig and Dante, Dunlop and Robbie, Travis, and Benji. It's a lot of men but they all fit perfectly with where they come into the story, I especially enjoyed Col and Wilby's interaction with Benji.
Fan's of Casey, and rom com's in general will really love this book and I can't wait for book two, what with the final sentence of this one!
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

I have to start by saying that I LOVED the original Vet Shop Boys series. There was depth to the characters and real love in the stories between the MCs in each book. With this series I am a bit worried about the direction after this first book.

I am not going to give an overview of the book because yall can read the description lol. The start of book was cute and showed real potential for the MCs as their rocky start flourished into something fun and light hearted. As the story went on it felt like the “what you see is what you get” lost its importance because of the lack of challenges or the work it took to overcome them. It also felt like the challenges were handled or overcome quickly. I think that Col got the short end of the stick in the story. All of Col’s problems seemed to be second fiddle to Wilby’s and i’m sorry but one bad break up doesn’t justify you being the center of everyone’s world.

When it came time for big decisions, Wilby was NEVER held accountable. Yes, there was ONE call out but even that was very tamed. Col did so much growing and he got no rewards for it aside from a good steamy encounter with Wilby. That was another thing I struggled with, Wilby was really only good for sex and we were told countlessly throughout that Col is a size queen. Great, cool, love that for you, but, Wilby was a very selfish lover and that irritated me to no end. Col did ALL THE WORK in this relationship.

That brings me to my last point. Col is too good for Wilby and them being together honestly broke my heart. The love felt very one sided which is not what i’m used to in the previous series. Col deserved so much more in a lover and in the end the only person that won in the entire book was Wilby and he didn't even earn it.

I listened to this book and the narration was amazing and the writing was good if you like slow builds with a HEA this would be a cute listen for you. The steamy scenes are good but be prepared for some serious character flaws that will have you grinding your teeth.

The Flirty Vet kicks off the new Vet Shop Boys Down Under, and what a great start!
Uneasy flyer Col is just trying to get over his 23 hour flight to Sydney when he’s woken up by the off key song stylings of a shirtless Aussie cowboy. A bit of banter leads to a drink and then…
You might recognize Col as the son of Hig and best friend of Brant from Clausing a Scene. They are as entertaining as ever, and offer Col an ear when he’s half a world away. He’s overworked, sleep-deprived, and prone to anxiety.
Wilby, the half-naked crooning cowboy, is also a vet based in the Outback town Scuttlebutt. He’s confident, has no filter, and will give you unsolicited descriptions of his sexual prowess. He’s a sunshiny hoot. But he’s also all about family, helping to raise his wayward sister’s children as she bounces between benders and rehab.
After an idyllic interlude in Sydney, fate throws them back together again on Wilby’s home turf.
Col’s reasons for being in Australia cause some tension and mistrust, but happily they work through that. You’ll find great banter and easy communication. And there may be an epic grand gesture.
Personal highlights:
🦘When kangaroo attack (IYKYK)
🎤Drought-busting karaoke
🌈Wilby’s beautiful idea for spreading Col’s mother’s ashes
There are appearances by favorites from past books that help advance the plot. Polly, Wilby’s grandma, is an absolute treasure. And while some serious topics are covered, for the most part this is a sunny, sexy novel filled with Casey’s trademark humor.
Col talks about how they balance each other, and that’s a perfect description of what makes their relationship work. Along with a healthy dose of competition, sex marathons, and the ability to make the other laugh.
Oh, and that closing line? What a way to set a up Book 2! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

I received a free copy. This review is submitted voluntarily.

Col Langford is rep for a multinational corporation based in New York and involved in agricultural finance. The job entails working with farmers to avoid liquidation of their properties. His problem is that he downright hates flying and he’s responsible for all of Australia. On arrival in Sydney, he tries to sleep but is interrupted by Wilby Linfox, a gorgeous Aussie who is in the alley outside Col’s window shirtless and singing Katie Perry’s “Roar”, extremely badly. They agree to have a drink together and Wilby propositions Col. Unfortunately, the latter ends up throwing on the bathroom floor and falling immediately to sleep. After spending the day together, Col flies off to Brisbane (after a panicked refusal to fly in Wilby’s private plane) while the latter takes his plane to fly back home to Scuttlebutt, a tiny town in Australia. Eventually, Col goes to Scuttlebutt where it turns out that Wilby’s family is his client. The relationship between them survives a brief period where Wilby is furious with Col after finding out that Col is seeing him on business. It also survives an extended separation after Col returns to New York, during which they are both miserable and eventually arrives at a happy ending.

Both main characters are outrageous and a scream. They are well-matched and lots of fun. The secondary characters are equally funny while contributing to plot development. Based on the news announced in the epilogue, I think we know who the MCs are in Volume 2 and that should make a good read. Notwithstanding the length, the plot develops in a straightforward fashion all the way to the end, in some ways in parallel with the Vet Shop Boys. The book is quite easy to recommend.

Haha, I needed a moment until I knew why Col seemed familiar to me. But the hint of his Dad who's in a relationship with his best friend helped me figure it out.
I'm happy to have gotten to know 'Hig's son' from Clausing a Scene better.

Oh I really enjoyed this story. I found it well written and very entertaining. And I think I fell a bit in love with Wilby.

Wilby was this out and proud and no shame knowing Australian. A hot as h€ll veterinarian with a love for Karaoke and flying and naturally, animals. He is a bit wild and crazy – and flirty as all get out - but all in a good way. He has solid friendships and great colleagues and I just enjoyed getting to know him better. (btw he can be very stubborn XD)

Col on the other hand is more reserved, anxious (especially about flying) and too serious most of the times. But a good, reliable guy with a big heart. I really liked him a lot. So much so that I just wanted to hug the stuffing out of him every time he needed to fly. And believe me when it's because of his man he will do anything he can, even fly around Australia. ;)

Wilby and Col were really so opposite and yet fit perfectly with each other. They make a great couple and I really hope I'll see a bit more of them in the next books.

I loved seeing Wilby and Col together, they had fantastic chemistry. It was a joy to read about them. So I can tell you that I was very happy when the misunderstanding and therefore slight change from friends with benefits to 'enemies' got cleared up and they found their way back together again.

Great read, I really had fun and was entertained for a few hours.
I can't wait for more in the series.

To say I was excited about an Australian spinoff of the Vet Shop Boys would be an understatement! I mean, not only do we get to continue with the hunky vets and adorable animals BUT now we get hunky Australian vets and adorable Australian animals. Okay, so maybe I have an Australian kink, sue me!

Set in a small rural town with a vast array of animals, and an unusual attachment to karaoke, we know we are going to be in for a good time.

Wilby is loud, flirty, and loves to sing. His superpower is drawing everyone he meets in and making them smile. Even the tired and grumpy Col can’t seem to resist him. But really, it was a choice of sleeping through the racket Wilby was making or sleeping with Wilby…

I just loved their interactions, and I really enjoyed how Wilby pulled Col out of his shell, while Col gave Wilby a steady presence, which was greatly needed while he carried the weight of a family's legacy on his shoulders. And their banter and competitions were hilarious.

This story took us through some ups and downs as they learned to trust one another, not their past hurts, and figure out how to build a truly memorable life.

All to say, they really were the bestest characters to ever character. Don’t be jealous!

🎶Truly zany, fabulous opening🌏

What a great start to a new Casey Cox series!

The beginning of this story, played out on the streets and beaches of Sydney, is really crack-up-laughing fun😄. A zany meet-cute and connection is followed by a sheer coincidence reunion, more forays into belt-out-tunes karaoke than I expected, and some really great romantic progression for Col, a visiting American financial advisor, and Wilby, an Aussie country vet/cattleman who's facing devastating financial hardships.

Family ties are important to both guys and lend some touching scenes, but the bulk of this romance definitely focuses on the hurdles any serious, long-term relationship would face. Wilby is particularly antipathetic to "finance men" who he believes are all out to get him and take away the family cattle station. Col has to jump through hoops to change Wilby's mind and demonstrate he IS ready to go the distance to stay in Wilby's life. The steam is here but the way each guy embraces the foibles of the other, and the humor, are what really stood out for me.

If you've read books from other Casey Cox series, you will find some familiar characters, like Travis from the Kings of Airlie, slipping their way into the story. But this is a true standalone, with TWO epilogues and a definitive HEA.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

This was an absolute delight! Col was one of my favorite parts of Clausing a Scene, so I was pretty psyched that he got his own happy ending - with the one of a kind Australian vet, Wilby. Their first meeting was pretty perfect, I loved how Col wanted to be mad at the shirtless drunk stranger outside his hotel window, but just couldn’t resist Wilby’s unique charm. They have a lovely date the next day, but then Col has to jet off for business. The second meeting in Wilby’s home town is a lot spicier, their chemistry definitely hasn’t cooled during the time apart. I loved the humor in the author’s writing, this is genuinely laugh out loud hilarious. But, there’s also plenty of heart and emotion in Wilby and Col’s story. They have to sort through if they want a future, Wilby’s family farm is in financial trouble, they both are grieving their moms, plus Col’s time in Australia is temporary. New York to the Australian Outback would be quite an epic long distance relationship. One of my favorite things about Wilby and Col’s story is how they balance each other. It seems something about the free spirit Wilby soothes Col’s anxiety a bit, I loved watching his grow a little lighter. Col is steadfast and focused in a way that helps center Wilby - bringing some stability to his life. I loved how they figured out how to build a life together, a lovely HEA for this unforgettable couple.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

I fell in love with Wilby almost immediately. Almost, because if it was me being kept from sleep, I would have been annoyed. His zest for life is rare these days and his utter lack of embarrassment because he accepts who he is, warts and all. The model for the cover is the epitome of the image I see for Wilby, and that smile says it all. I don't think I will ever get his image out of my mind.
Col is sent to Australia for business in a town called Scuttlebutt, where the most exciting event is the monthly karaoke. Unfortunately he really takes a back seat to Wilby's antics and personality, but his redeeming quality is his need to help others. Be it in business or the simple pleasures of bringing comfort to others. Truly a match made in heaven.
Although Casey's books contain lighthearted, fun reading, this was the best. I just can't get past Wilby (as you can see how often I use his name), and his cheerfulness. However, I do enjoy all the characters Casey Cox brings to life, whether serious or lighthearted, he has been a joy to follow since his debut.
There is so much that I have not included in this review, but then I may as well just be reading the book to you.
I received a copy from Neon Rainbow Reviews and it is my pleasure to leave my honest and voluntary review.

Wilby Linfox is a legend!

That cover is absolutely Wilby, that gorgeous smile lighting up his handsome face, tanned and muscled perfection. Col never stood a chance.
The blurb tells you what to expect and I'm not going to rehash the whole book and spoil it for you, but I was swept along by Wilby's infectious joy and Col's inability to resist him. They were so funny together but also very hot, their chemistry sizzling for all to see.
I loved Col and Wilby, but I loved all the other cast members too. Such great creations from Casey, with Polly taking top spot as the character I most want to know (and want to be when I grow up!), but the Down Under VSBs were close seconds.
This was a long book and maybe it could have been a bit shorter but I'm not complaining because I loved it. Wilby did wind me up towards the end with his attitude to certain things and while some of it was understandable, the rest was definitely not and he needed Polly's kind of tough love.
I do love a cameo from previous books and this had them in spades. If you've read those books, you'll love seeing familiar faces, and if you haven't, these cameos may persuade you to go back and see what you've missed. I was beside myself when one of the protagonists from my favourite Casey book appeared, such a very special treat.

When Col is sent to Australia for his job, he has to deal with his anxiety about flying, and is exhausted when he lands. While trying to sleep, he hears a guy outside his window singing drunkenly, and looks to see he’s not wearing a shirt.

This is Wilby, who’s gotten bad news about a huge debt on his farm, and they talk, connecting almost immediately. Col admits his fear of flying is due to losing his Mom in a small plane accident, while Wilby’s died about 9 months ago.

They part, thinking they’ll never meet again, but it turns out Col is going to Scuttlebutt, where Wilby’s farm is. They meet, hook up, and actually go on some dates, until things crash because Col is there to help with the debt issue Wilby has.

They work through it, and as their feelings grow, agree to figure out how to make it work. With some bumps and a month apart, leaving Wilby in doubt, Col shows up, ready to move in.

I enjoyed this story of two men theoretically on opposite sides, and being opposite kinds of people. They find common ground and help each other heal a number of hurts. I like Col, but Wilby seems a bit cold to me, though he has moments of depth.

I received this ARC for free, and am giving it my honest review with thanks.
