The King of Devils stole my cat, now I'm going to take his head
My dating life was already hell before I was spirited away to this treacherous Labyrinth with pitfalls and traps around every turn. The King holds my best friend hostage, while the men in the maze play with my life like I'm a disposable toy.
The Minotaur hunts the twisted corridors, while a mischievous fox tempts me into dangerous trials, where each encounter is more terrifying than the last.
Theron, a handsome, black-horned Weaver of Nightmares, promises to be my guide, but I don't know if he's truly defying the King, or if his charming smile and playful banter are all a clever game. As these monsters work their way into my heart, I just hope I can trust them.
Of Monsters and Mazes is a reimagining of The Labyrinth. This darker, grittier version of a classic fairytale will keep you as on edge as our heroine with its mix of spice, horror, fantasy, and romance. You'll love it if you prefer your enemies to lovers romance with multiple possessive, morally gray love interests, who love to test the limits of their very, very "good girl."
Leann Belle was born and raised in Los Angeles as an eternal dreamer, a hardcore gamer, and obsessive anime, manga, and JRPG nerd. Having fallen in love with countless villains, she immediately fell in love with the dark side of romance, and her lifelong love affair with Japanese horror and fantasy has heavily influenced her writing style as she crafts vicious and magical worlds.
When she’s not typing away behind her laptop, she’s living out of a tent off the back of her motorcycle on her quest to ride around the world. The wilderness is the best place to catch up on reading, after all!
Got this as an arc Even if it was a little on the longer page valise I flew trough it. Was so invested in all the characters and their more complicated ways. Both bit of an adventure and very steamy. Haven't read the other books in the series but feels like they can be read as a stand alone. Very enjoyable read.
HOO BOY was this book a JOURNEY. I would say, of all the dark and morally black men I've written in this series, this is the first true Villain Romance. I might be mentally recovering from this one for a minute, but I fell hard for these twisted and oddly "loving in-their-own-way" men. This was one of those stories that wouldn't let me sleep at night, and I was completely lost in the drama and violence and magic and world building and ✨feelings✨
I've admittedly been on a bit of a Greek Mythology kick lately, and this story gave me a chance to explore so many different complicated and unique and fascinating legends within the old stories, and I had a blast reimagining and twisting this world to something fun, dark, sexy, disturbing, and a little bit heart warming. There was so much freedom for creativity in retelling the myth of the Minotaur and his maze and the brutal king.
As always, you can expect a heavy dose of dark humor mixed with varying forms of horror, fantasy, and plenty of spice, with some isekai, MM within the harem, and an older heroine. I would love to hear where this ranks on your darkness scale!
Anywho-Happy reading and good luck surviving Tartarus!
I'm OBSESSED with of Monsters and Mazes! At this point now having read all of the Vicious Wonders I really can't decide if We're All Mad Here or this one was darker. 😂 but honestly I really enjoyed the little bits and pieces that were taken from Greek Mythology (I'm a sucker for Greek mythology retellings).
Sela was, and let's be honest here, probably like most modern day middle aged women trying to date in this world! She was so strong and independent in her career and wanting to be vulnerable with someone who made her feel safe in her personal life. I mean what woman doesn't want to feel valued and protected? Not just body, but heart and soul too? To have a safe landing. I loved her so much and really resonated with her.
The men in this one took me for a whole ride and I love them all. 💚
Jericho was so fucking unhinged, in the right ways though! His dominating and confident allure was just chefs kiss!
Rai IS the definition of babygirl, he deserves to be cherished and loved for all of eternity!
Theron called to me in protector type of way. He was in denial almost the entire time which made me chuckle more than once! Like sir, just accept you have emotions. 😂
Alessi, ah what to even say about Alessi? Mr. Fox daddy was so unexpected, I assumed he would be babygirl, but boy was I WRONG! And I'm happy for it too! Honestly his loyalty is untouchable.
I literally need the next one like yesterday, whichever story you decide to write next Leann, I can't wait to read it! This was awesome and I'm grateful to have found your work!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
4th book in the series! Love the FMC is in her 30’s! Dark Stalking, serial killer & kidnapping romance. Kink exploration. Games & trials. Lots of MM. Loki vibes. So toxic. Some people will love this one, for me it was just okay.
One of my guilty pleasures is reading stories about tinder dates gone wrong. This book definitely beats all of those😂. Tho the ending was definitely better.
Of monsters and and mazes 4⭐️ A reverse harem dark romance labyrinth retelling. This book was a journey, it’s fun and demented. Not as dark as I expected but there where some disturbing scenes. I definitely had a good time reading this story. I laughed, cringed and cheered.
What. What a roller coaster ride! This book kept me on my toes and I always had the HARDEST time putting it down! Definitely read this book asap! Along with anything else Leann belle.🤷🏼♀️😈🖤
- FMC: Sela - MMC's: Jericho (The Devil King), Rai (The Minotaur), Theron (The Dream Weaver), Alessi (The Teumessian Fox) - POVs Included: Multiple POVs (Sela, Jericho, Rai, Theron, Alessi) - Book Playlist (Labyrinth Retelling Book Playlist)
Sela is a woman who has managed to find a good amount of success in her career life -- by working her butt off to get there. But her dating life is another story. She constantly struggles with the balance between wanting to appear as a strong independent woman; but she also has a suppressed need to find a partner who will help her carry the load.
Her dating life really goes off the rails, though, when she meets a man named Jericho on a dating app who is sending off red flags all over the place. She becomes paranoid and a little scared about this crazy man coming for her.
And boy does he. Jericho is actually The Devil King of Tartarus. And he has chosen Sela to be the next tribute in his twisted Labyrinth game -- a deadly game filled with monsters and devils who will make her progress difficult (or well, they're supposed to do that).
So much fun! I absolutely loved this one. I've enjoyed all of the books in this series, but this one felt more back on par with We're All Mad Here and even There's No Place Like Oz. It had that adventurous and atmospheric quality to it that I really love to see. And I made a pretty awesome playlist to go with it that I think helped that along too. :)
Anyways, I loved Sela and seeing her real internal struggles work themselves out along the way.
And I loved all of her devils. I felt like the author did a very good job this time giving her a good bonding time with each of them too. Even Jericho -- who admittedly got a lot less page time with her than the others. But her interactions with him were satisfying to the point that I felt they bonded well too.
[Selah]: "Are you trying to suffocate me with that red flag? Or gag me with it?"
[Jericho]: "We can try both and see which one makes you come first."
If I had to pick a favorite, though, it would have to be Theron. Maybe because he was with her the most? I don't know. I just felt like his emotions were so genuine and he fought so hard to deny them. I loved seeing him finally get there.
I am not super familiar with this story like I am with some of the other retellings in this series. I saw the movie when I was a kid of course and I always found it very haunting and kind of spooky. But it's been YEARS since I've seen it and I know the author also took from Greek myths about the Labyrinth as well. So I can't speak to how loose the retelling was. But I really enjoyed the story and the journey. I loved the dark bits and I loved the sarcastic humor. I honestly have no complaints. I really enjoyed it all.
I also VERY much appreciated the epilogue, which was missing from a few of the earlier books in the series. It really rounds out the story and I was happy to see that as a nice lighthearted wrap up.
Overall I enjoyed this one a lot. Hard to pick a favorite from this series, but this one is near the top. And I can't wait to see what's next! So excited for this series. One of my favorite retellings series' ever. Love it!

Tech executive Sela (h) becomes entangled in a dangerous and surreal world after matching with a mysterious and sinister man named Jericho (H) on a dating app. Jericho, the King of Tartarus, becomes fixated on Sela, seeing her as the perfect candidate for his sadistic game, and relishing the idea of breaking her strong will. He abducts Sela, and her cat Pumpkin too, and forces her to navigate a deadly maze filled with supernatural creatures and psychological trials. Throughout the maze, Sela encounters various allies and adversaries, including Theron (H), the Dream Weaver; Rai (H), a horned devil; and Alessi (H), the Teumessian Fox. Each character has their own complex relationship with Sela and their own motives, adding intrigue and tension, and plenty of steamy encounters. With each step, Sela confronts her deepest fears and uncovers the dark secrets of her companions. Her resilience and determination drive her forward, even as Jericho's manipulations test her limits. As she battles through the maze, Sela forms unexpected bonds, ultimately discovering a strength she never knew she possessed. As Sela progresses, she develops deeper connections with her companions, revealing their vulnerabilities and strengths. Her interactions with Jericho are particularly complex, moving between attraction and revulsion. Jericho's manipulations are a constant threat, challenging Sela at every turn as she heads towards his ultimate plan for her. Ultra-hot and steamy dark RH fantasy romance retelling The Labyrinth with plenty of kinkery (dubcon, blood play, primal play, breath play, and more), exploring love, strength, resilience, connection, belonging, and identity.
Leann is a new favorite instaread author and I can't wait to read what she comes up with next. This is my new favorite of hers. FMC Sela is 35 and fighting for respect in the tech industry. Her perseverance earns her a position of power but it's built of personal sacrifice that the people surrounding her don't deserve from her. Everything changed when she connects with a psychopathic demon king on a dating app and whisked away to Tartarus for a twisted game of pain and lust, and potentially love. There are Labyrinth, Greek Mythology, and dark emotional vibes that Leann brings together to tear at your insides and make you question your sanity as you devour every spicy, and twistedly dark scene to its devilishly delicious end. Thank you for another awesome read.
From the first page I was pulled in. The thoughts that filled Adela’s mind .. and the texts that flew between her and Jericho.
Portaled to a world she knew nothing about to beat a maze … I mean seriously messed up but yet she stands strong and keeps her humor and snark along the way.
I loved how each new man fell under her spell and she didn’t even realize her power.
This was for sure another winner .. dark moments .. humor…. Adult times ,., challenges and all to save her cat 😂

I need some spin offs with some back history quick, fast, and in a hurry. Can Jericho X Rai and Theron X Alessi get their own books pretty please. This author really makes sure I'm always coming back for more.

This is an ARC review. I really enjoy Leann Belle’s retellings and this story is no different. It was hard to put down and a bit more demented than the last one I read which I’m all for that. This is a retelling of Labyrinth with many unique twists and turns. Check it out but pay attention to the trigger warnings.
I'm really enjoying these retelling books. At first, I didn't like Jericho at first, but he grew on me, and I liked how Sela wasn't even that scared of him or the others
I read this thinking it would be very much RH and there’d be loads of smut but I think personally it was a bit tame. I genuinely don’t know what that says about me though. I loved the idea of Tatarus and devils / angels and a challenge to save the cat!!! (Thank god nothing happened to the cat) I liked the relationships between all the characters though I loved their development and how they all came together (literally)

Dark romantasy retelling with reverse harem - well yes indeed! It's a very spicy series, and this was too ;) I might be more dark than the otherones, but kind og makes sense, giving they are traped in a Maze...
For me this was more "a telling" than "a retelling" - I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. 3,5 stars and a thanks to Booksirens for the ARC
First of all, definitely check trigger warnings! There are graphic scenes including violence and sexual content.
If you enjoy retellings, dark romance, quests, enemies to lovers, why choose, strong FMCs, and adorable pets, you’ll probably love the themes of this book. The MMCs are mostly witty anti-heroes who I adored by the end. The FMC is smart, resilient, strong, and sarcastic.
The story itself is fast paced and full of obstacles and challenges the FMC faces both alone and with her newfound frenemies. It’s told from 5 total different points of view, being the FMC and four MMCs. There is open-door spice throughout, but I didn’t find it to be overwhelming or distracting from the plot (again, please check trigger warnings). This book will definitely have me checking out other works from this author and series.
P.S. there are also illustrations to help you visualize the characters!
I did receive a free ARC of this work in exchange for my honest review.
This book has been a journey for me. But, before I go into a summary about this book and I solemnly swear that I will do my best to try and avoid giving away any spoilers.
So, let's start with our characters
Our FMC is Sela
Our MMC are: Jericho, The Devil King
Rai, The Minotaur
Theron The Dream Weaver
Alessi The Teumessian Fox
And this book is from all their POVs, which is nice as it does allow us to get to know each other individually better.
SUMMARY: (HOPEFULLY SPOILER FREE)
Managing to find success in her career, our FMC Sela has worked her butt but it has been at the detriment to her dating life. Balancing her private and working life has always been a struggle as she has always wanted to appear strong and independent. This has surpassed her need to find a partner who will help her to carry the load of life.
It is only when she meets Jericho, on a dating app of all things, that things really go off the rails in her dating life. Jericho, for some reason, is sending off red flags left, right, and center, and she is getting scared about this man who seems to be coming after her for some reason.
And then all the sudden there he is, the Devil King of Tartarus. And apparently, he has chosen Sela to be his next tribute in his next Labyrinth game. This is a deadly game that is filled with all the monsters and devils who are going to make her progress as hard as possible. (Well, that is their job.)
My Thoughts:
I loved it. This was absolute fun. I'm going to be going and reading the other books in this series We're All Mad Here and There's No Place Like Oz. If they are anything like this one, I am going to love those one's just as much as I enjoyed this one.
I enjoyed seeing Sela and her internal struggles and working through them and working them out along the way. That was really nice to see.
I really enjoyed all her devils. They were almost like her personal devils even though I know they were never meant to be her personal devils they were just there. Leanne did a great job giving Sela chemistry with her monsters and devils and even with Jericho. Even though he got less page time then everyone else did. I do feel like they all get adequate time that still allows them to all have a bond to last all times.
I could never pick a favourite, though. They are all too delicious. Theron is the closest because he is with her the most, but he is not my favorite. I just feel all my feels with all of them, and I feel like Therons emotions were genuine in the end, and he did fight the hardest to deny them. He had to really work to earn Sela, and she had to really work to crack him open and force him to admit his feelings. But he is still not my favorite.
I know Leanne took this story from Greek mythology, but I am not overly familiar with the story. I know that it has to do with the Labyrinth, but I am not perfectly in turn with it. I know it in passing, and I know the movie. But, I don't know the original story, really. I did enjoy this retelling through. I enjoyed the sarcastic humour, and I have no complaints. I really enjoyed it.
I really did think that this novel did need the epilogue. I don't think that I would have enjoyed the book as much as I did if this book didn't have the epilogue. It rounded out the story, and it gave us a lighthearted roundup that we needed for a darker story like this.
I really did like this story. I can't wait to see what's next for this series. I loved it and I am sure you will too.
5⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ total spice Wow!!! So so so good! Dark and dirty! I literally couldn’t put this book down! First off please check trigger warning this book isn’t for the feint of heart and I’m obsessed! The world building by this author is so fantastic I’ll literally felt like I was there and the descriptions were Amazon! Also this is a RH! I loved how strong she was in every way and never gave up! Can we talk about PUMPKIN what’s not to love! He honestly stole the show with his adorable kitty cuteness. Humans, angels demons Greek mythology I can’t explain how character building and relationship building genius this book was! Absolutely a 5 star read. Preorder yours today! Spice: 5/ 5
Stars: 5/5
I love a story of your everyday heroine getting pulled into another world. And this was perfect. The world is terrifying and fantastical.
The story mood is set with her first interaction with Jericho. Will she survive? Will she save Pumpkin?
This book had me hooked.
It's not for everyone, be sure to pay attention to trigger warnings. But this dark romance is constantly moving and keeping you invested. -Amanda
I had never been more excited to receive an email in my life, When I saw that there was an opportunity to do a review of this book. I had been waiting and waiting since reading the last book stalking Cinderella for monsters and mazes, which I had not anticipated to come out till maybe November. I was absolutely ecstatic. I started it and finished it within 24 hours. I am absolutely blown away by her amazing work. I have been an avid follower of her work since I first discovered we’re all mad here. I cannot get enough. I love how dark twisted and kinky it gets, But also still puts a smile on my face and will make me giggle. I’ve never had that from another book except for the amazing masterpieces Leann creates. I am so invested and in awe with her talent and incredible work. I respect and admire her so much. She has a unique one of a kind talent that I’ve never found anywhere else I’ve read hundreds of thousands of books, And I have never found one like her. I am so appreciative and thankful of how she takes something and makes it twisted and kinky yet awesome and hilarious. The character she creates are so in-depth with complex personalities and relatable mindsets. She brings them to life with real life qualities ,thoughts, Emotions, experiences and feelings. They aren’t cut and dry there is no black-and-white. I love how each of them end up owning their selfworth and for moving past being ashamed of what they’ve done in the past or how they’re lived their life so far. The audacity of pumpkin, I absolutely adore him. You can’t stay mad at an orange ball of fluff. I cannot wait for the next book in the series, I am hopeful for a beauty and the beast version or a hunchback of Notre Dame version. I received an advance review copy for free ,and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Of Monsters and Mazes is the fourth installment in Leann Belle’s Vicious Wonders series. This dark romance novel reimagines the classic tale of the Labyrinth, blending elements of horror, fantasy, and romance into a gripping narrative.
The story follows the protagonist, who is thrust into a treacherous labyrinth filled with dangerous trials and morally gray characters. The King of Devils has stolen her cat and holds her best friend hostage, forcing her to navigate the maze’s twisted corridors. Along the way, she encounters a Minotaur, a mischievous fox, and Theron, a charming yet enigmatic Weaver of Nightmares who offers to guide her.
Belle’s writing is both vivid and immersive, drawing readers into a world where every turn brings new dangers and unexpected alliances. The characters are complex and multifaceted, each with their own dark secrets and motivations. The romance is intense and filled with tension, as the protagonist grapples with her feelings for the various monsters she encounters.
One of the novel’s strengths is its ability to balance the darker elements of the story with moments of genuine emotion and connection. The labyrinth itself is a character, with its ever-changing paths and hidden traps adding to the sense of suspense and urgency.
However, some readers might find the darker themes and morally ambiguous characters challenging. The novel’s portrayal of possessive and morally gray love interests may not appeal to everyone, but it adds depth and complexity to the story.
Overall, Of Monsters and Mazes is a thrilling and darkly enchanting read that will captivate fans of twisted fairytales and enemies-to-lovers romance. Leann Belle has crafted a world that is as dangerous as it is alluring, making this book a standout in the dark romance genre.

Of Monsters and Mazes was absolutely The Labyrinth retelling I didn’t know I needed in my life! I am a Labyrinth movie junkie from way back when it was first released. In college, it was one of my “drunk movies” that I would turn on at 3am because I just loved it so much. All that not say, I really, really love the movie and this book did it PERFECT justice. I adored the twists on all the familiar scenes and characters. I loved how the author put her own spin on it all by combining mythology with movie elements. This book was definitely dark and twisted, but not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I did have a conversation with the author prior to reading because I don’t like to be scared (I’m such a baby!) and she reassured me if I can get through chapters 5 and 7, I’d be ok for the rest of the book. I would add chapter 41 as well. However, as big of a baby as I am, I did just fine. They didn’t scare me, just made me squeamish.
I thought this book was so much more than just a retelling; it really delved into Sela’s psyche. The whole Labyrinth seemed like it was designed to show Sela what could be, versus a silly game for Jericho. I wouldn’t have been surprised if, at the end, the whole thing was a crazy fever dream to help Sela learn how to balance her professional and personal lives. I both loved and hated each of the men. I suppose I like even my darker MMCs to have a bit of a soft spot for their girl. These men all had the soft spot, but it didn’t come out until the end. And, I can’t believe I’m saying this, I was kind of hoping for a bit more heat in the form of group “activities.” There was plenty of steamy moments, but I was waiting for more group play.
Overall, I’m so, so happy I read this book. I’m going back to read the other books in this series.
I received an ARC of Of Monsters and Mazes from BookSirens. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Okkkkkk, soooo, I almost have no words 😂 My brain is still kind of processing the craziness & mayhem that I just read. I will say this….if a story is dark (and this one is DEFINITELY dark 🖤), it has to have amazing characters & an engaging, as well as entertaining, storyline if I want to be invested in the ending, cause the darker they get, the less I usually enjoy them. Well, this certainly delivered it ALL somehow, and kept me fully engaged & enthralled. I felt like I was in another dimension watching a car crash while falling down a rabbit hole, and yet being ok with that, cause it was just that mesmerizing. Had to be some magic going on here ✨😂 Basically, this is how it felt to me. If you ever watched the Labyrinth & thought to yourself, “if I could just get a MUCH darker version with amazing world building that draws strong inspiration from Greek mythology, where the FMC is older & independent & strong willed (and really doesn’t like people messing with her cat 😝😂), finds herself surrounded by complex allies (well, sort of allies 🙄😂) along the way that she finds herself falling for, and yet also can’t help falling for the true villain & main manipulator behind the scenes & is drawn to his dominance & chaos…all my dreams would come true”. Yeah, ummm, this book, with its delicious darkness, will definitely make all those dreams (and so many more) come true, but make sure you check yourself for shadows afterwards, cause you WILL be covered in darkness 😝👀🫣🤯😈 Just make sure you enter with caution & check those TWs children 😉😈
As an avid Labyrinth fan and someone with an affinity for all things dark and weird, this book was such a fun read! It is definitely a dark romance with a good amount of kinks and spice - so as others have said, be sure to check the trigger warnings and know what you are getting into.
Leann does a great job of taking readers from a very relatable real-world scenario, where Sela (a FMC in her 30's - YAY) has fought tooth and nail to be a successful VP in a male-dominated industry, only to be thrown into an entirely different world when Jericho, a devil king, kidnaps her cat. As she navigates the labyrinth under a time limit and extreme conditions, she meets several demonic companions along the way, and let's just say that things escalate quickly.
All of the characters and different POVs are way more detailed and enticing than I would have expected from a standalone. Each one adds to the overall story and makes this - quite literally - a wild ride (going into this, did I think I would find a Minotaur sexy and yet lovable? nope. Did I? yep - and a also a fox and two devils with horns). I loved the unique flow of the maze, and the world building without taking away from the overall story. All of the Greek mythology references really contributed to the overall story as well.
Overall, I would recommend this to anyone who likes their men/monsters morally grey, their humor dark, and a bit of pain with their pleasure - this book definitely delivers on all of the above while somehow adding a splash of wholesomeness through all of the chaos.
This was phenomenal. From the first page, the author’s writing style had me, it’s witty, I like the internal dialogue the characters have. I like the different points of view in the book as well, and how you get to dig into the characters’ motivations and their whys. The concept is so intriguing, I haven’t read anything like this. She’s looking for a date, finds basically the devil, and now has to make her way through an actual labyrinth. As she makes her way through she picks up friends along the way - and honestly this was done so organically, I didn’t even clue into this book being a reverse harem/why choose until near the end! It’s a gripping story, a full length novel that I appreciated because the details about the trials she faces painted such a vivid picture. And our intro to Theron? Jeezes that was dark and depraved and I love it. My only note is there is a lot of talk of the FMC breaking glass ceilings (yay women boss babes!) and having to be strong - a lot of lengthy talk about this - but her actions for most of the book don’t track well with this vibe. Towards the end I think she redeems herself. I will say the main baddie guy ends up feeling like more of a side character, but maybe I just love Theron too much lol. Anyway, it’s detailed, a phenomenal unique story, the spice scenes are great, and it ends in a surprising happily ever after, and I just really loved this book! This was my first book from this author and now I NEED to go read the other books she’s written. I got an arc copy and am happily leaving a review of my own volition.
Ok. I went into this story wanting to love it because I love the Labyrinth so much and making it a dark RH romantasy is *chef's kiss* the icing on the cake. And then I started this book and it was so totally weird I was no longer certain what to expect. Each chapter kept getting wilder and wilder, and it was getting h0tt€r and h0tt€r. And I may not be ok because that was some of the h0tt€st scenes I have ever read (and I'm not sure I'm comfortable admitting to those I found h0tt€r 😉).
This author did the movie so many of us love justice, maintaining much of the integrity of the movie while making it completely her own in the process. Well done. The centimane.... well done indeed. That was both utterly terrifying and somehow €r0tic at the exact same time. And Theron... my goodness that introduction could put many a "dark" book to shame. 🔥🔥🔥 🙈🙉🙊 It's truly indescribable without giving anything away. If you enjoyed the Labyrinth but always wished it was smū++y and you find dark romance to be your thing, I'd give it a go.
Leann Belle created distinct characters of her own while still giving a nod to the original. It was subtle but it was there. They were dynamic, rich in history and character growth, and wormed their way right into my heart too.
This was my first book by Belle. And let me tell you what, this will not be my last. If her other books are anything like this one was, I found my new favorite author. 😍 She not only delivered on my lovingv the book. I devoured it. Excellent writing. Excellent storytelling. Excellent smū+.
Story: A dark, why-choose paranormal romance with some seriously good MM content. What a hell of a list in the content warnings! So damn interesting... But to some it can be triggers, so you maybe want to check. What to expect: - Four MMCs that are more than just men- they're something else. So different from one another, yet with more in common than they realize. - One fierce FMC who would do anything for her furry companion — and honestly, I totally get her! She’s a grown woman who's used to fighting for what she wants and proving her worth. - A plot full of surprises — some better(ish) than others, but always engaging, with deep emotions, hidden truths, and second chances. - Multiple POVs, which help us truly understand the characters’ feelings and motivations. I did find myself at times thinking, “What?”, “Hell NO!”, and “Why?!” — but that’s part of the fun! I'd absolutely read or listen to it all over again. - Plenty of steamy, funny, and deliciously twisted moments that really make the story stand out. It's perfect for Halloween season, but honestly? Any dark read by Leann is a win for me, anytime. She has an amazing talent for creating unique and immersive worlds. And yes — it ends with a HEA that feels like it’s straight from another realm. Loved it!
Audio: The narrators did an impeccable job. It was so easy to visualize the characters and get pulled into the story. Their voices are fantastic, and they truly embodied the characters. The duet narration is one of my favorite formats, and they nailed it.
Oh my dear Fräulein, this book was everything I could’ve hoped for! Ever wonder what it would be like to end up in a darker version of the labyrinth? This is a must read!
The book starts off with our FMC Sela who is just your typical woman working in a field dominated by men, and to not let anyone get the best of her she is reserving parts of herself from the world to make sure she is able to work herself to the top of her field.
Along comes Jericho; one night, mindlessly swiping through a dating app while snuggling her adorable pumpkin 🐈 in bed. The banter is incredible and is also throwing some red flags, but I feel we’ve all ignored a few of those!
Very quickly Sela is swept up into this crazy game to prove herself to the King. She must beat the clock against all odds and not knowing what really awaits her at the end. She’s promised all knowing power, worship, and all the love she’s been looking for. Could she truly win and leave behind everything she’s worked so hard for? The king has promised to devote himself to his dear Fräulein for all time.

I loved this book for everything it offered. The entire time I was reading I felt as though I was in the maze and I could picture every little detail that was described. I think at one point I literally got sucked into the book because of how incredibly descriptive it was!
This was a 5 star 🌟 read for me! This was also a five red hot chilly peppers 🌶 . If you grew up watching the labyrinth. I'm very confident you will enjoy this retelling. It does have some dark and has some horror type scenes. But the author did add quite a bit of hummor and comedy throughout the story. There is a lot of sarcasm. It's totally worth reading. You will definitely find yourself loving the characters by the end of the book. This a darkromance story that's not for the faint of heart. This will leave you speechless.. It will leave you wanting more. this is addicting. You won't be able to put it down until the very end. There are plenty of spice scenes for all of the smut ladiess out there. The other thing I loved about this book was that their were multiple points of view and all of the main characters had their own points of view
This book needs to go viral! It's that good!
Leann, this book is amazing! This was my first book of Leann's, and this definitely won't be the last. There are 3 others in this standalone series. I'm so thankful that they are standalones. I'm glad I got to read labyrinth first. No, I'm going to be getting my hands on her on 3 in this series. 1.) We're all mad here. 2.) There's no place like oz: a wizard of oz reverse harem. 3.) Stalking Cinderella: a dark rh Cinderella retelling.
I may or may not have used 4 highlights because they ran out of ink 🤔. Even during the last par, I had to use brackets so I could easily find my favorite quotes. I like to write the quotes in anotebookk for me to look at later. This is for me only! I do not share them.. :) I think this might need its own littlenotebook, haha.

When I saw that this was a labyrinth retelling, I knew I needed to read it. I loved watching labyrinth when I was a kid. This was a really good retelling of labyrinth, but at the same time, it was entirely her idea. There were two scenes that I could picture in my head that reminded me of the movie. But other than that, it almost wasn't an actual retelling of labyrinth. In my opinion. I would say labyrinth was what inspired her to write this story. I love that at the very end Leann left a behind the scenes of the book and characters. She did her research. She looked into the real labyrinth myth and general Greek Mythology and it shows she also. I believe that is part of the reason why I loved it so much. I love history. It was getting to know Leann during the after credits, and the characters, and how she came up with them. The main characters within in the labyrinth were devils instead of goblins. There were some interesting creatures that live inside the labyrinth. They are the kind that you see in your nightmares... fairies are in here too there, just not your typical fairies... I finished the book yesterday morning (5:30 am). I could not go to bed without knowing how this story would end. The ending made me speechless! This is hands down my favorite read of the year so far..
I was able to relate Sela in so many ways! I'm sure a lot of independent women that have worked in an industry that are mainly men. Those women understand how hard it is to make a name for yourself and not be accused of sleeping your way to the top. She craves to have a man that knows how to be strong with her but also knows how to stronger for her knows how to feel safe, and wanted not just some play thing, something thats hard to come by in our world.
*"One might think that in such a big city, there would be at least a handful of diamonds peeking out through the shit piles."
Theron: is the dream weaver. He is a dead, honest devil. He is very up front with Sela and what his role is in all of this. He tells it like it is, and he is very sarcastic. The banter between these, too, is insane. I ate that shit up. He is in so much denial. The dude has some serious emotions that he needs to work out. It's kind of funny, actually. There were some laugh out loud with these too.
*"A new year always meant a new tribute, and I should have suspected we'd be seeing another usless human in the realm soon. Someone had to water the plants."
*"That hadn't been an accident. She wasn't a nameless butterfly in the collection, after all. She was Sela."
Rai: is a minotaur. He craves attention he needs to be in the center. He is a creature that is very misunderstood. He does things that no one sees coming.
*" This woman had fucking problems that made the rest of us look well adjusted."
Alessi: is... well.I'll let you read for it yourself and find out what kind of creature he is. He's sort of a spy. Oh and he's "technically" not a delvil. He is not what I expected him to be. But damn he is like perfect. He has that charm that will sweep you off your feet, but damn does he know how to take charge when it's needed... but he is quick to run. He is well untouchable...
*"Bijou, Bijou, Bijou, let me be abundantly clear. Theron might show you the illusion of a nightmare, but I fucking am one."
Jericho: is all sorts of fucked up. He was narcissistic, psychopath. Sela saw his redflags from a mile way. But she just couldn't help herself. She kept engaging with him via text. Harmless not like he knew where she lived.. well until it wasn't, he started making threats, and then she started freaking out.. but of course you start to fall for him in the book once you start to understand him and his past.
*"She was a fighter purely out of necessity, but she was just as soft as anyone else on the inside. I never tired of the duality of the human spirit. Women were fascinating.
I have nothing negative to say about this book.... the only thing I wanted to mention that ended up not being a negative thing but would normally be one. Normally for me I DNF books that have MMC on MMC. I don't know what it is. I don't mind them I have friends that are. But when it comes to intimacy I don't like seeing it or imagine it. I'm confident it was how Leann presented the scenes was why it did not bother me. There are not very many of those types of scenes also. This is just my personal opinion! Don't come at me and like I said i absolutely loved the book! For me I'm glad I didn't know about that before I picked up the book. I normally don't even pick them up.

Excuse me while I go scream in a corner. I loved this book so much. Leann did an amazing job. The constant rollercoaster of emotions kept me on my toes. There were sweet moments and dark humor that helped break up the heavier scenes.
And girl don't get me started on the men. These men were so unhinged and damaged. Watching them soften up the Sela was so sweet to watch. And Theron was definitely my favorite of the men, the poor tortured devil had my heart so quickly. But Alessi and Rai followed closely behind him. I loved that we were given glimpses into the past of all the men helping us understand their actions and personalities more. But I have so many mixed emotions towards Jericho. I hated him for the first 90% of the book. It lessened at the end, but I wish we got a little more from him. I would have loved at least one extra chapter to see the dynamics shift between Jericho and the rest of the group. Everyone seemed to change their opinions on him too quickly with little explanation. That is just my one cent.
I definitely recommend this to anyone who likes dark romance and Greek mythology!
