A mysterious mist descends on the mining town of Stermondt, drawing forth rumours of unseen shapes moving amidst the quiet streets. A hole into the abyss has been opened. And nobody knows what has awoken.
Unwilling to see her kingdom's innocent economy suffer, Juliette Contzen, 3rd Princess and somehow even more begrudging adventurer, bravely ventures into the darkness.
Miriam the vampire is one of my favorite side characters and I hope that we get to spend more time with her.
My biggest issue with the series thus far remains the fact that the narrator of the audiobook (Brenna Larsen) has a number of words that she mispronounces. It brings me out of the story every time it happens, which is semi-regularly. It's kind of odd given all of the random french (sounding at least) words related to food she seems to have no issue with. Isn't this what the audiobook director is supposed to pay attention to?
I read a lot of this series from the book holder on my elliptical. Belly laughs while exercising can be dangerous! This book was no exception to the risks I endured. Let’s see… we have a nun with super powerful holy magic. A vampire. A princess doing her best to keep the economy robust and not get promoted in the Adventures guild. Oh and a clockwork doll doing clockwork doll things. I love Coppelia. What can go wrong? As always, a superb, well-written funny adventure.
