Many consider Durango a grumpy, serious man. He has good reason to be. As a former Navy SEAL and now working for Reed Hawthorne Security, he's been responsible for everyone else's safety for as long as he can remember. The last time he tried to do something for himself, it backfired splendidly, and the woman he wanted ended up in his best friend's arms. Now years later, she's in town and wants to see him.
Willow made some poor life choices and is working to dig her way out from under them. When the opportunity to relocate to New York City is presented, she takes it. But there's one catch, she must face the man that got away.
Durango's assignment goes sideways, and Willow tries to stop a dangerous man. They both find themselves in the line of fire. If they can survive, they might get a second chance at love.
Danielle Pays writes romantic suspense with twists and a hint of humor. When not trying to write her characters into some kind of trouble, she can be found chasing her dog or annoying her kids. Unless the sun is out. She lives in the Pacific Northwest and if the sun comes out, it is a requirement to go outside before it hides again.
Intense Is Putting It Lightly… suspense and intrigue can bring a good love story too
They say all’s well that ends well. And that may be so, but how you get to that ending is something else.
We begin by seeing Willow and Durango together again…. well, together but not exactly together… not yet. It’s been ten long years since they’ve seen each other and a lot has happened in those ten years, especially to Willow. She has been used and abused, that is emotionally abused, and was almost like a prisoner with her controlling ex. Now that she’s getting back to the ‘old Willow’, she’s wanting to protect others from that ex. Easier said than done.
As for Durango, on the way to an assignment he gets injured…. badly. It’s touch and go for awhile. After months of rehab and healing, he’s ready to go back to work. What is suppose to be an easy assignment turns out to be the very opposite. I mean, really…. Is there anything easy about any covert op?
And wouldn’t you know it, as soon as they’re ready to be more than friends and start dating again, Durango is called away for this so-called ‘easy’ job and Willow sets out on a spying mission of her own. She not only wants to protect innocent women from her ex but also she wants revenge.
As I said at the start, alls well that ends well… but getting to that ending is anything but easy. In fact you can say danger lurks, emotion is off the charts and don’t be surprised if you’re compelled to keep turning those pages without putting the book down. But hey, you’ll love both Willow and Durango, especially with the ending as it is… just remember, be careful who you trust getting to that happy ending.
I was given an advance copy of this book and freely leave my review.
Willow is bestie to Priscilla growing up, who is Durango’s sister. Although Durango is his call sign. We find out that Willow lied the last time she saw Durango & Ozzie. Willow has gone through so much since that last time. She has always been interested in Durango, as had he, but Priscilla had threatened him as she didn’t want him bothering her bestie. Willow is staying with Ozzie after leaving her problems behind. Finding out what happened to Willow was heartbreaking and made me freaking livid. I actually started punching my pillow and ranting. Lol. I’m very engrossed in all of the characters in this author series.
The more that Willow and Durango hang out, the more he wants to spend time with her and for her to go out with him, but she isn’t ready and he doesn’t understand why. All of the girls tell Willow to tell him. She doesn’t listen for a loooong while, I felt bad for Durango. Then the scariest thing happens when he goes off with CT for an assignment and it isn’t even part of the assignment! I cried a lot during this book and when it finally got steamy, it got steamy! Lol. Totally needed the AC too. There are a lot of funny parts too. I still feel bad about the ringtones regarding Peaches. Lol. I want to know who does it! That has been a running gag throughout a lot of the books. Samantha, friend and roommate after she moves out from Ozzie’s, comes home in the middle of the day and they conspire. OMG> there are some freaky things happening in this book- on both Durango and Willow’s side. Eeeep. Those girls are cray cray. Seriously. I wanted to smack both of them! I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.

Willow has not seen Callan Myers (Durango) in 10 years. Willow was best friends with Durango’s younger sister Priscilla growing up. 10 years ago, Durango and his friend Ozzie showed up at a bar in Virginia that Willow happened to be at that night. They were both still in the military. She wanted Durango to see her as a woman and not his sister’s friend. She tried to make him jealous by hitting on and dating Ozzie.
Willow left Portland and is in New York. Ozzie is letting her temporarily stay with him. Durango brings her lunch and the two of them talk about what happened 10 years ago. She asks Durango if they can at least be friends again. He tells Willow that he has a lot to think about. He’s not sure he can get past the games she played 10 years ago.
Months later, Durango wants to date Willow, but she says no for now. Willow has not told Durango about her ex and the trauma she suffered when with him. When Durango goes to Seattle for an assignment, he is in an accident and is in a medically induced coma. Piper who is Durango’s cousin and dating Ozzie are there. So is Willow and CT, who was with Durango on assignment. Willow just wants Durango to wake up so she can tell him she is ready to date him. When Durango wakes up, he can’t feel his legs. Luckily, the paralysis is temporary, and they go back to New York. Durango has to stay with Ozzie since his building has an elevator and Durango’s building does not.
These two had a lot of personal stuff to weed through and a lot of stuff they went through together. I was rooting for them to get a second chance at love.
This is the latest book in the Reed Hawthorne Series. Durango and Willow have a past—a couple of decades--in which they both had crushes but miscommunication led them away from each other and now finally back to where maybe, they will finally get together. But in just a matter of months, difficulties with a horrible controlling ex from her past and an international incident involving the CIA, traitors, and stolen nuclear weapons in his present, both Durango and Willow are being pursued by two or three or more bad guys (and maybe bad women?), all combining to throw obstacles in the way of their ever getting together.
I found the different storylines extremely interesting and not confusing at all. There is a lot going on in these pages and I rarely had time to put this book down, because every time I did, I would pick it up and start reading again, because I had ot know what was happening next! This is my favorite book in the series so far, but I think I have said that for every book in the series. I really feel like I know these people, and even though not necessary, I liked having the insights that I had of other characters from reading the earlier books in the series. There was a perfect blend of angst, romance, and thriller, with no editing or grammar errors, which made it even more enjoyable for this old editor to read!
I was given an ARC to review and this is my honest opinion: get this book!
Willow and Durango haven’t seen each other for 10 years and still has feelings for him but he wants nothing to do with her games. Durango works for a security company and was trying to help a woman in the rain but the branch broke and went over the waterfall now has a brain injury. Piper had told her about his injuries and might not work for the company anymore but then got feeling back in his feet. Because Willow hadn’t told him what had happened to her he decided to keep space between them. Willow and Samantha went to Portland and got copies of the s*x videos that he had taped with other women when Durango was on a mission. Tyler threatened them, she wasn’t going back. Durango was taken by the men that thought he knew where the guns were but he finally escaped and got a message to his boss that caught the men that had him. Tyler trashes her friends apartment so they hide somewhere else then someone posts Tyler’s video where he names the men he is forced to work for and he is killed. Durango and Willow work things out.

Willow had been interested in Callan “Durango” Myers ever since their high school years. In order to gain his attention, she had pretended to be interested in his best friend, Braxton aka Ozzie. She had only wanted to gain his attention…make him jealous, but that failed magnificently. They are both older now, more mature; but is there still a chance for them? Before they can reconnect, he is called away on a mission with Reed Hawthorne Security which takes him out of the country. She knew that while he was a Navy SEAL that his job was dangerous, but now with a private agency, the danger is still very real. When he is targeted, he believes that someone is after the foreign coordinates that he was given, which he was told led to missing missiles. Willow is dealing with her own issues when after finally escaping a controlling ex, her good deed to expose his abuse of her, and others, has made her a target. Turning to his friends at RHS, will they be able to keep them both safe and give them a chance at a future together? A complete rush from the beginning to the exciting end! I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)
Durango is the fifth book in the Reed Hawthorne Security series. This is a second chance romance with suspense, danger, and a thrilling story-line. The story is about Willow and Callan, call sign Durango. They have known each other for years as she is his younger sister Priscilla's best friend. They had been interested in each other a lot but Priscilla threatened him so he stayed away and so being young she decided to try and make him jealous by dating one of his friends, Ozzie. This backfired and then she ended up with a very different man, one who it turns out was dangerous and violent. It is now ten years later and she is back in town after leaving her ex. Will they be able to have a second chance at an HEA, after all they are "the one" for each other. But Willow has not been completely honest in what happened with her ex and that just adds some layers onto the story. Add in a major injury when he is on assignment, a lot of character cross over, some very steamy passion and a whole lot more into a completely engaging and entertaining book. A great addition to the series!
Love these two characters. So much packed into the one book but wow such a great story.
This was about Willow who had escaped from her ex who was cheating on her and her attraction and past relationship with Durango, a RHS agent.
Action packed with layers of story and a load of drama. I loved the dubious connection between Willow and Durango sparking from past history but the willingness of a Willow to try and shove her past behind her.
I really liked the team guys who had their back and the thrill ride that this author takes us on really was full of intrigue and danger.
Durango was very much a softy with a full on protector instinct and Willow had a lot to get over before she could work on them.
Well written, and very well done on all levels. I liked the layers of story and the mission they had to go on, well both of them did separately. Such a great book and I can't recommend it highly enough.

Durango By Danielle Pays Main Characters: Durango and Willow I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author. 5 out of 5 stars Loved Durango got his own happy ending. This is just one part in this series but it can be read as a stand-alone. Plenty of action, drama, intrigue, and great chemistry. Seems like Axle will be getting his story told soon. This Reed Hawthorne Series is a great series and I prefer to read the books in order. Willow was the girl that got away a long time ago and it was nice to have her back in Durango's life. This is the 5th book in this series. Love that we still do not know who is doing the different rings for Peaches. It is a running joke throughout the series. Too funny! I highly recommend this whole series.

Durango had been in love with his sisters best friend. When she hooked up with his friend he held it against him for many years. When he later finds out that she did it to get his attention he is afraid she is playing games with him. When he is sent out on assignment strange things are happening back with Willow. Her ex Tyler has shown up and tries to break into the apartment. The assignments and the threat from Willow's past brings danger that the agents can't seem to handle. What ever happened with the suspicion of Moose? Things don't seem to come to a clear conclusion then the book is done. To many issues in the book that don't get resolved which is fine because it about the relationship of the two main characters. For me I would rather things didn't happen if they aren't going to address them within the story.
Durango and Willow's story is the fifth book in the Reed Hawthorn Security series. You can enjoy it as a standalone but I think the series is better read in order. All the guys at Reed Hawthorn are friends and you get to know them as the pop in to each others books to help out. Durango and Willow have known each other for most of their life. Misunderstandings and hurt feels drove them apart 10 years ago but Willow is back in Durango's life and they want to try dating. They've both grown up a lot but Willow has some serious emotional trauma from her previous relationship with her ex. Their stories is a steamy, wild ride with plenty of action and suspense. I'm love this series and can't wait to read Axel's story.
Durango is next in the Reed Hawthorne series but can be read independently. Durango and Willow have known each other since they were in younger and she was best friends with his sister. They have always been attracted to each other but didn’t act on it. After years with an abusive ex, Durango is waiting to date Willow. As they are about to go on their first date he is sent on assignment with CIA operative Cara Harding (see other series). While he is gone Willow and her roommate decide to get some payback on the ex. As they both enter their relationship they have roadblock of understanding where their problems are from and getting past of those people coming to hurt them.
A action packed second chance addition to the RHS series. Durango and Willow reunite after ten years. A lot has happened to each of them in those years but the spark is still there between them. There are multi-layers in this storyline between Durango and Willows separate “missions” they go on. Amidst the chaos, their slow burn turns to sizzle. I was totally rooting for their love journey and enjoyed this story immensely. I do recommend reading the full series because of the RHS characters banter and interconnections. Great read.

So trying to trick your crush into making a move fails. Then you make an even bigger mess by moving on with an abuser. Getting free could allow you to get your first love, if he can move on from your trickery. Loved how Durango was willing to give Willow a second chance. His patience, understanding and support is just how relationships should be. A good read showing how with the right friends and your partners support you can take back control of your life. Oh and the villain well gets his comeuppance, what’s not to love.
I received a review reader’s copy of the book, and I am leaving this review voluntarily
Durango and Willow. Hes a former Navy Seal working for Hawthorn Security. She has always been in love with him and is his little sisters best friend. When younger she did something that he views as betrayal and doesnt know if he can forgive her now years later. She has had a tramatic experience and doesnt know if shes ready to be forgiven. Just when they begin to talk and spend time together he has a tragic accident and ends up in the hospital. This is action packed. Emotional. Their pasts put them in the crosshairs. Their journey is taxing and suspensful to say the least. It will keep you on your toes.

Willow made a mistake, which cost her happiness with Durango years ago. She's back, out of an abusive relationship, looking to make amends with him. While he's out on assignment, she and her roommate decide to get back at her ex. Things don't go quite as planned, and end up causing more trouble in the future. Durango to the rescue. The one thing that I didn't like about Willow is that she kept putting him from from pursuing a relationship, with no real explanation as to why. Fortunately for both of them, he is a patient man. The latest book in the Reed Hawthorne Series is Durango. Durango is rather unique individual in that he seems to always be the responsible one. However this will also be a reason he looses the girl in the beginning. But as with all things in life cause changes we find Durango looking at Willow the one who got away. Even though this is a stand alone book I think it would be better if you have read and our familiar with the other people at Reed Hawthorne. Needless to say Danielle has still given us a wonderful suspenseful book. Will there be a HEA you’ll just have to read the book.
I was pulled right into the story from the first and stayed that way as the story flows and ebbs building from one action packed moment to the next with just the right amount of unexpected drama and suspense with characters that have strong ties to previous books and are well rounded and likeable with a nice heated romance between Durango and Willow. And a explosive preview of Axle story for which I'm so sad about the wait a whole year .
I received a advance reader's copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Another page-turning book in this great series, I was pulled into this story right from the beginning as the action is ramped up. This is a second chance romance and Durango and Willow are likeable characters who you really feel deserve their HEA. This book could be read as a standalone, however it is great to catch up with other members of the Reed Hawthorne team. Danielle Pays is one of my go to authors and my only complaint is tht each time I read one of her books it just leaves me wishing away the time until the next instalment. A highly recommended read.
This book has lots of action! There’s literally something new or different happening on every page. The excitement doesn’t stop. And through all this, Durango and Willow are trying to relearn each other after ten years apart. They both have hard lives, unrealized potential and things that went wrong. These two are perfect for each other. This is a slow burn romance. I read an ARC of this book and am happily leaving my review.

Having not read the prior books in the series - this read well as a standalone. There was enough background given on the characters from prior books to understand the overall dynamics between them but not so much i felt like I was hearing all their stories again. There were a couple spicy moments, but overall the book was mostly closed door and focused on the relationships growing and solving the case(s) they were working on. It was a good read and I'd read another in the series.

Willow has a knack for picking the wrong man. Durango is the only one she trully wants, but has she blown her chance? When Durango is ready to look past the hurt and find peace with Willow, she is reluctant due to her past. Then her dangerous X is back in the picture and Durango knows that he'll protect her no matter how their story ends. This is another great addition to the Reed Hawthorne series as Durango moves from grumpy loner to protective Alpha and Willow shows she has matured enough to deserve him.
Quite good: This was a fairly enjoyable romantic suspense and whilst part of a series, could be read as a standalone. It was engaging and interesting, however I would have preferred more suspense. I liked that there was a multilayered plot, although some of it felt stilted and anticlimactic at times. I was alsonfrustrated with some of the decisions these so called professionals made. I did like Willow and Durango and was pleased that they got their HEA. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Willow and Durango have known each other for years, as she was his sister's best friend. She overheard something she shouldn't have done and moved away. Years later they meet again. She's living with a friend having escaped her abusive ex. Durango works for the private security firm, Reed Hawthorne, because he speaks Russian he's sent on a mission with little notice. Willow has got stronger and more herself, she decides that she should protect other women from Tyler, with her friend, she goes off, things go pear shaped and they end up running!
Fast-paced, suspenseful, heart pounding can best describe Willow and Durango`s story. This second chance at romance is intense and trying to date each other years ago, they can finally put their past behind and move forward. However, a traumatic past with her ex, and accident to put Durango in an induced coma can derail everything or will it? So much happened in the past for these two which might make t difficult. This is a story to can't put down and you keep wanting more. I can't wait to see what's next .
Durango and Willow have known each other for years but mis-communication and immature games damaged their friendship. Willow is now back in town but is a shadow of her former self having escaped a former relationship. Durango is wary and slow to trust and still doing active assignments. There is definitely an enemy but whose past have they come from. A fast paced action packed book with feisty women and protective men. A great continuation of the series.
Durango and Willow might get their second chance. They have aged and matured. both want to try again. Durango has an assignment that goes sideways. Willow gets in the crosshairs of her ex. This page-turner has suspense, villains, and romance. Durango gets kidnapped and Willow gets threatened. Will Durango be able to keep Willow safe? I recommend this brilliantly written romantic suspense. I received a copy, and I'm voluntarily giving my honest review.
Durango is the 5th book in the Reed Hawthorne Security series. A second chance, HEA story with suspense, drama, action and steamy moments. I would highly recommend reading the rest of the series to understand the friendship, team banter (and pranks) and bond not just within the Reed team but also the women they have committed too. I cant wait to read Axle’s story is was an intriguing introduction.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Another Reed Hawthorne Security book, this is Durango and Willow's story. These two characters knew one another years ago and their paths have crossed again. Neither one owned up to previous feelings but their current chemistry is making it impossible to ignore them now. I enjoyed reading this story as we get two cases to solve - Durango's work and Willow's past. The story has a great pace, lots of action, love all the characters that pop back in, great chemistry and of course a HEA. Enjoy!
10 years only made the heart grow fonder. Neither knew the other was interested, but now they are back together and working through their issues, fears, secrets. No more games this time. Just the desire to love each other forever. A great book of protection, romance, danger, suspicion, and a willingness to forget the past and start their own future together. I loved it.
