Launched in 1936 in the Sunday Post in Scotland, Oor Wullie is still one of the most popular children_s comics and annuals in Scotland, with a readership covering all generations and the annual selling over 100,000 copies every year.
I always did prefer the Broons to Oor Wullie and the facsimile copy of the first ever Broons book is no different. Yes, the style of cartoon work is not as good as it would get later but the stories are classic Broons, some of which were revamped by Dudley D Watkins in the 50s and 60s.
This represents all the Broons Annuals I've read over the years.
Every other year my daughter would get me The Broons Annual for my birthday (I'd get the Oor Willie Annual in the other years) and it became a tradition for Dad to sit in the corner reading and chuckling for that day
