Thank you to R.J for having me once again as part of the beta team, I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity. 💋🤍
They say reviews aren’t for authors and while I agree, this is for R.J Rogan and her alone: I’m saying this with my chest because I mean it… wtf did I do to deserve this emotional damage? I will be eagerly awaiting your response
In all seriousness, if you know me you know I absolutely loved the first book in this series, I still do, but I have to say Queen of Fire is on top. She is the moment. R.Js writing has developed, her storytelling is somehow even more impressive and the twists and turns throughout have clearly been meticulously planned. I had high hopes going into this and I can honestly say it delivered. I’m so obsessed with the world and these characters and I am beyond excited to see where this series goes in book 3.
I have many a theory about A LOT in this book but I can’t spoil it (even though I’m desperate to) so please read it when it drops and then message me so we can discuss theories because I NEED people to talk to about this!!
This is quintessential fantasy. If you need something to scratch that post SJM itch or you’re just wanting to read some indie fantasy please please consider this wonderful series. I could not recommend it enough.
I received an ARC of Queen of Fire in exchange for my review, and all opinions expressed here are entirely my own.
R.J. Rogan excels at crafting suspenseful stories, and I must admit, I have a love-hate relationship with her talent for cliffhangers! After eagerly awaiting answers from the first book, Princess of Earth, I find myself once again on the edge, anticipating the resolution of yet another gripping cliffhanger.
The characters in this series have captured my heart, and Rogan deserves praise not only for her writing style but also for creating a wonderfully diverse cast. The representation within the story is commendable. Gracie, in particular, has become a personal favourite! Even the characters with questionable intentions leave me craving more. Their unpredictable actions align seamlessly with their personalities, adding depth to the narrative. I can’t wait to explore further novels with this group!
As for the plot, attempting to predict its twists is pointless. The unexpected turns kept me on the edge of my seat to the point that I devoured the majority of it during an 8-hour flight. If not for the fact I had to get off the plane, I would have finished it in one sitting! I’ve read lots of fantasy series but this remains a solid favourite for me.
My only criticism of this series is how long I’ll now have to wait for the third novel!
I’m lucky enough to be a beta reader again for the second book! I couldn’t have enjoyed this more honestly and it was such a wonderful read, I loved following Kira again through this story as the plot developed and unfolded (thank you for the emotional damage) I have my suspicions and theories about where things may lead on in the next story but I shall keep them in my mind for now 😂
First off I want to give a huge thank you to R.J. Rogan for surprising me with an ARC for this sequel. It's so exciting to receive ARCS and I'm very happy that I got to read this before the release date.
The sequel had me so surprised. You think the story is going in a certain direction and then you get the rug pulled out from under you and end up with your jaw on the floor by the time you're done reading this.
R.J. Rogan has such a great talent for writing such a flowing and intriguing story, and she creates such a fun fantasy world without making the worldbuilding boring or complicated. The characters are all so well layered and the friendships and relationships are so well established.
The ending... just wow. Possibly one of the biggest cliffhangers I've ever seen from a sequel and I need book 3 ASAP. This book was amazing and you are missing out if you are not reading this series. Can't wait for more books from the author.
Oh my goodness she has done it again 🙌🥰 I absolutely loved the first book and this one is no different. I really feel the author has excelled in this book, the storytelling, characters the twists and turns have certainly not disappointed. I do completely hold her responsible for the emotional damage this book caused me 😂😂 and omg the ending 😮 what a cliffhanger 🙈 but a cliffhanger that made me genuinely so excited for book three I actually squealed 😂 If your looking for a new fantasy to read I would highly recommend picking up this series I’m sure you won’t be disappointed. 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I have just this second finished reading this. I got to be beta reader again for this wonderful series and I am so honoured but Ree how dare you??
I have experienced such a rollercoaster of emotions, I’ve cried and cried and cried. Then cried a bit more. I have been sat on the edge of my seat. I have had to hold my breath and almost threw my phone across the room (it’s already severely cracked and would not have survived if I did). I love POE but…. QOF? I love her more. They say writing your second novel is extremely difficult due to the pressure of following up the first but wow wow wow wow wow. You’ve absolutely killed it. This is amazing and I can’t really say anything else without spoiling it but holy moly! 10/10 highly recommend. I will go as far as saying one of my favourite reads of 2024 and we’re only in feb. Biggest congratulations on your second novel! Immensely proud even if you made me cry.
Now I’m gonna go finish sitting with my thoughts for awhile and possibly cry some more
I can't begin to explain how mad I am at R.J. Rogan.
This book was fantastic. It pulled me in from the beginning and I was so happy to be back in Kira's world. There were so many twists and I can honestly say I did NOT expect the ending she gave us. She has left us with some more unfinished plot which I can't wait to find out more about in the next book.
I don't know if I'll ever recover from what she has done to me.
R.J. Rogan did it again, I was absolutely hooked the whole way through. The writing style is absolutely easy going for me, the world building is perfect I feel like I’m there
*POSSIBLE SPOILERS*
I fell for Cyrus so quickly and was instantly routing for him, but the little hints that he isn’t Cyrus I quickly caught onto and it was the sole reason I couldn’t put it down, I needed to know what was happening and who he was!!
I was pleasantly surprised with how the characters developed in this follow up book. It had the potential to follow on with a continuation of a love story between two particular characters, so it immediately peaked my interest when one of them was connected to a different character. A very good story teller. Looking forward to book three
