Christmas is both naughty and nice this year when a single dad and his best friend’s sister celebrate with some secret (steamy) romance and festive fun, perfect for fans of Maggie Knox and Lyssa Kay Adams.
Charlotte Calhoun has avoided Hayden Porter, her older brother’s sexy-as-sin best friend, ever since that mortifying night when he flat-out rejected her. She’s crushed on him forever, while he’s made it crystal clear he only sees her as a silly kid sister. Fine. Except this Christmas season, they’re thrown together at a snowy ski resort for her brother's bachelor party, complete with mistletoe, cozy fireplaces, and adjoining rooms. She can tell herself to get over Hayden, but holiday cheer is turning to holiday lust every time he is within ten feet of her.
Between being a full-time single father and his high-pressure college coaching job, a romantic relationship is off the table for Hayden. But every time he gets near Charlotte-all-grown-up, his feelings are anything but casual. So far, they have managed to keep their sexy times under wraps so that they don’t cause conflict on her brother’s big day. But a secret weekend fling is one thing. It’s two long weeks until the wedding, and hiding their growing feelings is going to take a Christmas miracle.
Jaqueline Snowe lives in Arizona where the "dry heat" really isn't that bad. She prefers drinking coffee all hours of the day and snacking on anything that has peanut butter or chocolate. She is the mother to two dogs who don’t realize they aren’t humans and a = mom to the sweetest boy. She is an avid reader and writer of romances and tends to write about athletes. Her husband works for an MLB team (not a player, lol) so she knows more about baseball than any human ever should.
Christmas Sweater Weather by Jaqueline Snowe Contemporary holiday romance. Brother’s best friend troupe, aka forbidden love. Sports related via coaching. Charlotte Calhoun has always had a crush on her brother’s best friend Hayden. She avoids him now at all cost, after he rejected a pass from her at 21. Driving into a huge snow bank on the way to her brother’s combined bachelor bachelorette weekend and getting recused by Hayden was not on her bingo card. But she will have to make it work. Her brother and his fiancee are important to her. Hayden Porter has been attracted to Charlotte all her adult years but as his best friend’s little sister, she’s off limits. With both of them in the wedding party and staying in adjoining rooms at the cozy holiday decorated hotel, he’s not going to be able to distance himself as usual. Especially when Charlotte is on board with taking their relationship to the next level and keeping it behind closed doors. Neither want to distract the bride and groom at their special events. Plus he’s a single father with a full time college coaching job and she’s a high school teacher working towards a coaching career. Discretion is required. Hiding their new relationship though, might be more difficult than either expected.
I read much slower the more I like a book, the banter or characters. I loved the writing in this story and found myself reading a couple of pages and putting it down. Not because I was busy or bored, but unconsciously trying to make it last longer. It hit all the right spots for me. My favorite troupe, a secret crush on both sides, fun banter and absurd situations. And, of course, some steamy interludes. An all around joyful and romantic story. A few tears of happiness for me as the sentimental snuck in too.
DNF at 51% :( Yeah I tried reading this one for at least two weeks, and I just couldn't continue. The premise was cute, and I liked the snowy resort, bachelor/bachelorette party vibes...but that's about it. The characters were painfully one dimensional, and they had no chemistry. The plot was nonexistent unfortunately, which, okay, I wasn't expecting much plot but there has to be a strong relationship and fast pacing if there's no plot. It felt like a flat Hallmark movie.
Thank you so much to Forever Pub for sending me a copy of Christmas Sweater Weather. As always, my reviews are one hundred percent voluntary and all opinions are my own :)
This was another cute, slow burn Christmas romance. It was steamy, heartfelt and full of festive cheer! The Christmas festivities and the setting at a snowy ski resort. The way the author describes the coziness of this place is perfect. Another great holiday book you'll want to grab and cuddle up with your blanket and coffee!
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the gifted copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Meh. An incredibly mediocre book with little to no stakes, contrivances that are infuriating and characters that are little more than paper dolls. It’s a cute idea but it’s got less layers than a second string hallmark Christmas movie.
After years of being in love with her older brother’s best friend Hayden, Charlotte finally made her move only to be shot down horribly. For the last three years she has done her very best to keep her distance from him since that awful night, but for her, there will be no more escaping spending time with Hayden.
Charlotte’s brother and his fiancée have planned a pre-wedding weekend at a ski resort, jam packed with festive activities, and she and Hayden are thrown together more often than not. As the two spend time together reconnecting, sparks fly and hiding their growing feelings for each other is next to impossible.
Christmas Sweater Weather was so festive and fun! The chemistry and tension between Charlotte and Hayden was great, and the spice was 👌🏻 All around a great holiday read that will hook you in from the start!
- brother’s best friend - forced proximity - single dad - mutual pining - secret relationship
After Hayden rejected Charlotte's advances three years ago, the two have kept their distance from each other. When Charlotte's brother Christian sets up a bachelor party at a ski resort, the two must find a way to work together in a series of Christmas-themed competitions. The competition and their attraction to each other soon heats up. Can their building relationship survive after the weekend?
I enjoyed Snowed In last year and was excited to read Christmas Sweater Weather when it was available. This book did not disappoint. This was a fun, fast-paced read and I loved Hayden and Charlotte as the main characters. I also enjoyed the secondary characters in this book. It made for some fun interactions and some insight into Hayden and Charlotte's choices throughout the book. If you are looking for a Hallmark Christmas story with a little bit of spice, this is the book for you.
Christmas Sweater Weather is out October 8th.
Thank you NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the opportunity to review Christmas Sweater Weather. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
✅What fun read! Are you looking for a Christmas read with a bit of spice? Here’s the perfect book to pick up! I loved the chemistry and banter between the characters. I think I was smiling and giggling throughout most of the book. All in all……a perfect Christmas read I highly recommend. Thank you NetGalley, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
wow alright. i am shocked that i actually finished this book but i had to just so i could write this career ending review. it is truly a miracle that i got through this book without scooping my eyeballs out with a spoon and rinsing them in rubbing alcohol. this book was AWFUL. god-awful, mind-numbing writing ✅ lack of plot ✅ insufferable and one dimensional characters ✅ a disturbing amount of horniness ✅ but of course, i have more detailed notes for why exactly i hated this book so much, so let’s get into this dumpster fire.
to start, it is a truly remarkable and life-altering experience to read an entire book with such awful writing that you wonder how any adult could actually tolerate the torture of digesting the words on the page. the writing and language used in this book is meant for an 11 year old, maybe a 13 year old at best. yet, i firmly believe that nobody under the age of 18 should consume the sexual and explicit contents of this book. i just can’t believe that people my age and older felt that they unironically liked this book. i forced myself through this book. it was a struggle, a plight. the writing was so terrible that it felt like an insult to my intelligence. when i finished this book, i felt like taking a shot just to clear my head and reset my brainwaves. i imagine that the language in this book is remarkably similar to that of a wattpad fanfic, which is an insult by the way. i would imagine the quality of writing in this unedited goodreads review that i wrote in 5-10 minutes is BETTER than the writing in this PUBLISHED IN-PRINT book.
next, the plot. let’s talk abt this plot shall we? i will preface by saying the entirety of this book takes place over the course of 2 weeks except for the epilogue. 50% of the book takes place over the course of 2 1/2 DAYS. that’s right people, DAYS, not months, not weeks, but 2 1/2 DAYS. after spending one weekend together at what seemed like the most insufferable bachelor/bachelorette party, male and female main character have fallen in love and decided that they are soulmates. after 1 week of dating, they’re already thinking about marriage and babies. what the fuck? personally, i’m all about a slow burn so this was not it for me.
furthermore (yes, i did just drop a “furthermore”), let’s chat abt the characters. these are 2 of the most poorly written and uninteresting characters in the history of literature. Piper the Influencer and Brendan the Fisherman from Tessa Bailey’s “It happened one summer” had more interesting personalities than wannabe softball coach Charlotte Calhoun and single-dad Hayden Porter (white people names much?). it was like the author had to limit each character in this book to one personality trait because she didn’t have enough brain cells to create more complex characters. the only thing charlotte thinks about is her softball coaching job interview (which she doesn’t get because she’s a woman) and fucking hayden. the only thing hayden thinks abt is his 3 year old daughter and fucking charlotte. these two characters are about as basic and plain as white toast (no butter) i will say though that charlotte has an incredible knack for jumping to false conclusions, probably because the only thing she can think abt with absolute clarity is hayden’s dick. first, she overhears her brother and his fiancée having a mild argument, if you can even call it that, and goes into full panic-mode, assuming that they must be calling off their wedding that is 2 weeks away. spoiler alert: they were just debating whether to tell all their friends that fiancée is pregnant. then, after she doesn’t get the job she wanted because of sexism and hayden can’t immediately come to her rescue after dating for 1 WEEK, she assumes that he is GHOSTING her and that their “relationship” is over. talk about needy and clingy. hayden should run for the hills imo.
lastly, let’s discuss the “sexual” language and scenes in this book. i had my boyfriend read these scenes OUT LOUD in a dramatic voice because they were just too fucking comical. these characters were horny for each other from the moment they met. between charlottes red lacy underwear hanging off of her engine after her car crash to hayden’s FUCKING GLASSES these two just could not stop lusting after each other. there was no love there. it was just pure physical desire and nobody can convince me otherwise. also, can jaqueline (the author) please stop writing that the characters want to lick each other constantly??? it’s one thing to include licking here and there, but she COULD NOT STOP writing about licking. girly clearly has a fetish. last thing and i’ll leave this here, but there was one scene where charlotte literally CRIES after having an orgasm. i think it was the first time they have sex? or right before they have sex? honestly i couldn’t keep track.
anyways, this book was absolutely horrific and i hope this review scares people out of reading it because it truly was THAT bad. i don’t know if i’ll ever be able to read another festive romance again because this was a traumatizing reading experience. if i could give this book 0 stars, i would. anyways, happy fucking holidays everyone.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Rounding up to 3 stars
The beginning of this book starts strong with a brother's best friend / “It was always you,” turned a forced proximity vibe that was fun and banter-filled. Add in the ridiculous Christmas competitions, and I was invested.
It started to go downhill when they got together. The “we need to talk” was nice at first—yay, communication—but then it was excessive, and it felt like they talked about communication more than they actually talked.
I enjoyed Hayden, a single Dad, and Charlotte, who was in the midst of a considerable career crisis. I did like their chemistry. However, some of the “lovey” moments were just over the top.
Also, I get they are childhood friends, but he started calling her “baby” after their first kiss, which felt too much.
This book was quite spicy, and those scenes were well done. There was obvious tension between them, and I enjoyed seeing that play out.
Around 60%, we entered a level of inta-love that was difficult to swallow even for my second-chance loving heart. The dialogue felt underdeveloped and reminiscent of a made-for-TV movie.
The ending, while completely cheesy, redeemed this book back to a 3-star level, but the middle was rough.
I did enjoy the book's over-the-top Christmas nature. From the sweaters to the mistletoe the atmosphere was really fun, and I think that this book could appeal to big Christmas lovers.
I cannot recommend this to everyone, but I would consider it if you enjoy over-the-top holiday cheer with some heated moments
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC of Christmas Sweater Weather by Jaquline Snow! This book is the perfect cute and cozy holiday read that gave me all the feels. The story follows Charlotte Calhoun, who is forced to confront her attraction to her brother's best friend, the irresistible single dad Hayden Porter, during a snowy bachelor party at a ski resort. With mistletoe, cozy fireplaces, and a dash of steamy romance, their chemistry ignites amidst the festive fun. Snow masterfully balances the "naughty and nice" elements, making this charming tale a delightful escape. It's a heartwarming reminder that love can blossom even in the most unexpected situations—ideal for your holiday reading list!
holy christmas! this book will pull you in like a magnet. hallmark movies have nothing on christmas sweater weather!
🎄THINGS AND STUFF🎄 -dual pov -brothers best friend -single dad -second chance -mayor of the mazda igloo -baseball -present wrapping competition -forced proximity -found family -christmas is a way of life -#IsThisAKissingBook open door. “do you still want to be kissed under the mistletoe?”
Christmas Sweater Weather is a fast-paced, cute read filled with the fun and quirky banter you’ve come to love from rom-com’s and some of my absolute favorite tropes.
♥️brother’s best friend ♥️ sports romance ♥️ friends to lovers ♥️ single dad ♥️ forbidden love
Charlotte and Hayden both what they think they can’t have… each other! This forbidden romance is about to be put to the ultimate test when the two are forced to coexist at Charlotte's brother’s (Hayden’s best friend) pre-wedding celebrations.
Although Hayden felt like he didn’t deserve Charlotte, this single dad had me swooning from the very beginning. Just something about him made you want to root for the guy. I didn’t always love Charlotte though. Her inner monologues came off more immature than funny IMO. They did have an undeniable chemistry though, which helped me get over my ick for the FMC and overall root for this unlikely couple.
This is the perfect book if you’re looking to get in the holiday spirit and love spicy sports romances!
Thank you to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the opportunity to read this digital ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.
(3.5/5) Christmas Sweater Weather is a fast-paced holiday rom com by Jaqueline Snowe.
Charlotte and Hayden are in their feels (& each other's pants) this holiday season! Charlotte has been avoiding Hayden for three years since he rejected her—she's been crushing on him since they were kids, but he (supposedly) just sees her as his best friend's little sister. Thrown into a festive ski resort for her brother's bachelor party, Charlotte and Hayden give into their MUTUAL attraction. But will it last through the holidays?
What to expect: 🎄 Holiday rom com ❄️ 1st person, dual POV 🎄 Brother's best friend ❄️ Childhood crush 🎄 Single dad ❄️ Found family 🎄 Friends to lovers
This was a cute storyline and had so many great tropes, but it was too predictable and felt like it scratched the surface. I kept wanting more from important scenes, and that's a lot for me to say because I'm usually forgiving of Christmas books.
Jaqueline Snowe's writing style may just not be for me because she chose certain sayings that pulled me out of the story, especially with our MMC. I love a man written by a woman, but his dialogue wasn't believable to me.
I'd recommend this book to readers who love predictable Hallmark movies and just want a cute, fast read. These characters were charming and lovable, and I giggled at a handful of scenes.
A sincere thank you to the Forever Pub for an ARC! Release date: October 8, 2024.
I wanted to like this book. Brothers best friend and single dad set in the weeks leading to Christmas sounded like my cup of tea. I did enjoy the first few chapters, and it felt promising then, but unfortunately this book fell flat for me.
I really could not stand any of the characters dialog and inner monologue. Everything was surface level and very insta love and just talked about how much they liked each other either to themselves or to each other. I didn’t feel there was any depth in this story and just a surface level story and and style of writing.
I was also hoping this was going to have more of a cozy Christmas feel but it lacked in that too. The Christmas themed pre wedding week games were cheesy and fun, but that’s about the only Christmas there was.
Overall I was just hoping for more on this one.
Thank you NetGalley and Forever for the opportunity to read an eARC.
If there's one thing Charlotte Calhoun has tried her best to do these past three years, it's been avoiding Hayden Porter. Her brothers best friend. Single dad. Good guy. Also the one who shut her down three years ago when she was 21.
But then comes her brothers wedding. And the bachelor party. Which means the two of them are going to be in proximity of each other.
I really did like this one. The Calhouns are a Christmas family. So a bachelor party around this time makes since. And it's also giving Hayden a break. And making him admit somethings that he's been hiding these past three years.
I liked both of these MCs and all the supporting characters. Charlotte wasn't an immediate yes girl which I always respect.
If you'd like a sweet holiday novel with a HEA give this one a chance.
Charlotte and Hayden have to deal with each other as they celebrate her brother’s up coming Christmas wedding. Hayden has made it clear in the past that he isn’t interested in a relationship with Charlotte. The thing is - he lied. He has various reasons for believing it’s best they can’t be a couple but he starts to reevaluate his decision as they spend time together at the pre wedding weekend. This book was well written and the characters had great chemistry. Definitely a good book to read in the run up to Christmas.
A cute Hallmark-esque book. Love the brother’s best friend trope, but there wasn’t a lot of build-up to the relationship. I wish it was more of a slow-burn romance. The snowy ski resort setting is super cozy, but other than that, not very Christmasy. Also, the conflicts in the story felt unnecessary. The first half of the book is so cute, but the rest fell flat for me.
I received a copy of this book from Forever on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Expect 👉🏼 Christmas Novel, Brother’s Best Friend, Mutual Pining
The Christmas shenanigans were fun. If you want a goofy explosion of holiday spirit, this may be a hit for you.
This book felt like a novella but with the full novel length. I didn’t have enough to get invested in the characters or their problems and yet the book was much too long. I had to force myself to finish this book because I just didn’t have any interest in the story or the characters.
Thank you Forever for my copy! All thoughts are my own.
It pains me to now have loved this book. One, because I adore Forever titles. Two, because I loved Snowed in for Christmas by the same author last year! I loved the tropes of this book and found it to be an enjoyable read, but it didn’t become a new favorite or have that “unputdownable” feeling I crave. I didn’t feel like it captured the cozy vibes of the holidays either, which based on the title and cover, I anticipated!
While I didn’t love it, I do think it will be a fun, easy, sexy read this Fall and holiday season.
Synopsis:
“Charlotte Calhoun has avoided Hayden Porter, her older brother’s sexy-as-sin best friend, ever since that mortifying night when he flat-out rejected her. Fine. Except this Christmas season, they’re thrown together at a snowy ski resort for her brother’s bachelor party, complete with mistletoe, cozy fireplaces, and adjoining rooms. She can tell herself to get over Hayden, but holiday cheer is turning to holiday lust every time he is within ten feet of her. Between being a full-time single father and his high-pressure college coaching job, a romantic relationship is off the table for Hayden. But he’s fought his attraction to Charlotte for as long as he can. A one-night stand is starting to sound like a good idea—as long as her brother never finds out. But with two long weeks until the wedding, hiding their growing feelings is going to take a Christmas miracle.” —NetGalley
What I Liked:
The Tropes—The tropes of Single Dad and Brother’s Best Friend just hit different in a holiday book. I really enjoyed these elements and they were probably my favorite part!
The Concept—I thought it was fun to have the competition element at the beginning of the book and that’s where you get most of the festive vibes.
What Didn’t Work For Me:
The Romance Writing/Language—I hate saying this, but it was a little cheesy for me. It felt like leaning into trends that people hype up on TikTok instead of being natural to the characters.
The Pacing—The opening felt very disjointed before leading into the “meat” of the novel.
Didn’t Feel Like a Holiday Book—I think this would have been stronger if it didn’t try to involve the holiday season. It felt like an aftermath to me vs purposeful and cozy!
Character Authenticity: 3.5 Spice Rating: 3/5 Overall Rating: 3/5
If you're a fan of slow-burn romance, tension-filled moments, and the thrill of breaking forbidden rules, then this "brother's best friend" trope novel is likely to capture your heart. The premise is a familiar one—falling for your brother's best friend—but it delivers all the emotions and complexities that make this dynamic so irresistible. Charlotte Calhoun and Hayden Porter have instant chemistry and are very likeable characters. The writing keeps the reader hooked with snappy dialogue, romantic moments, and a satisfying slow-burn buildup. There’s a mix of heartwarming scenes, spicy moments and some emotional rollercoasters, especially when the relationship faces inevitable obstacles caused by miscommunication. This does take place around Christmas and could easily be a very spicy Hallmark movie. They are definitely a family that takes Christmas seriously but the story can be enjoyed at any time of year. The chemistry between the leads and their journey toward overcoming the challenges their relationship faces that really makes the book enjoyable. The resolution is sweet, with Charlotte and Hayden finally giving in to their feelings, getting the blessing of her brother and proving that sometimes the best romances are the ones you never expected. I am extremely grateful to Forever Publishing for the opportunity to read a digital copy of this fabulous book through Netgalley in exchange for a honest review. All of the opinions in this review are my own.
I really enjoyed this heartwarming yet steamy Christmas romance! Hayden and Charlotte are an endearing couple, and it gave me all the feels as I followed their journey to HEA. There was humor and warmth, heat and even heartache along the way, but in the end it was all worth it. Thank you to the publisher for providing an advance reader copy.

Thank you to NetGalley for sending me this copy to review.
This book had me at brother’s best friend/single dad yes please!! This was the perfect slow burn holiday read! This is the perfect book to curl up with a cozy blanket and a hot chocolate.
Charlotte was the perfect strong independent MFC that you can help but love. While Hayden was hot single dad who doesn’t think he deserves love. The two of them together with their banter and slow burn was amazing.
One personal preference not a fan of miscommunication but besides that it’s the perfect holiday romance read!!
3.75 ⭐ 1 🌶️ Tropes: Holiday, found family, brother’s best friend, cinnamon roll MMC, it’s always been you, he falls first, friends to lovers, second chance.
3 years ago Hayden and Charlotte shared an amazing, toe curling, long time coming kiss. But for reasons she can’t comprehend, he pushes her away saying he’s not interested (lies). In the present, they are brought together again on a weekend at a Christmas themed resort to celebrate Charlotte’s brother’s upcoming wedding, where all their old feelings for each other resurface.
I mostly enjoyed this book, although the ending dragged a bit. The idea was cute- Hayden and Charlotte forced back into each other’s orbit at a resort, the Christmas games, and as their relationship progressed the way they worked together on her interview. The execution fell a little flat though. The specific situation that they decide to work on together (trying to avoid spoilers!) just felt a little too unrealistic though. Within minutes of the “conflict” being introduced I knew what was going on. I wish it had been a bit more mysterious? Or harder to guess?
Along with that, while I’ve never been a single parent, I felt like Hayden went too hard into acting like single parents can’t date or that it would be just too impossibly difficult to figure out how to be with Charlotte, even though she already has a relationship with his daughter. It’s obviously a concern but he made it seem like it was nearly impossible. However, I did appreciate Simone’s character and how Hayden treats her/handles that situation with her and her parents.
