The complex set of events that led to the overthrow of the monarchy in France and the chaotic events that followed the Revolution are brought out vividly in this short book

This book was the first I had read of this series. I enjoyed it and would read more. It gave an informative overview of the French Revolution, followed by a timeline at the end which was a good review. It provided facts and context, as well as analysis and results. I'm not sure I would completely agree with everything the author gave as results of the French Revolution, but it made me think. This series was well-written, unlike some other brief history series I have read recently. I was also intrigued to learn more about the charitable cause in which the author is involved, which is mentioned briefly at the end of the book.

An exceptional book and a great addition to any reference library - I am a firm believer in the saying that, "Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it." (Santayana) With so many cut backs in many school systems, especially at the primary levels, I was surprised to learn that many schools no longer teach history, which is just wrong on so many levels. I would recommend Mr. Freeman's "The Best One-Hour History" books to any parent who wants their children to learn about some of the pivotal moments in human history.
"The French Revolution" is exceedingly well written and provides a lot of details on what transpired during this time-frame, which is remarkable considering the book's small size. It also has a basic, but useful timeline of events at the back of the book. A definite 5 stars!
I won this book from the Goodreads.com website.

I'm not a book critic, an author or a History professor - I'm just a guy who wanted to learn a bit about the French Revolution, and Robert Freeman's book was the PERFECT introduction. I now know the basic who, what, when, where and why of this event, and the book has sparked my interest to read more about that time period. It was scary to read how many of the causes of that revolution are in place in the U.S. today, and makes me wonder what could happen here in the next 10 years.

One thing is certain - I will be ordering more books from the Best One-Hour History series!

It is a very watered down, to the point history lesson. It gives you a good idea of what happens, without making you want to fall asleep. It's a good, quick history lesson. It gives you a good foundation, but it definitely isn't the only thing you should read if you want to achieve a vast understanding.

It was about as short and basic as a history book can be. While it does what it says it will you'll get more knowledge from Wikipedia and it won't cost you a penny
