This historical fictional novel is based on the author's indigenous family history and spans several centuries and is set in what is now Ontario and Quebec in Canada. This is a new to me author and I very much enjoyed the book as she made history come alive.

This is a really interesting story, but the characters didn’t feel very differentiated. They all felt like almost the same person.
