Chie Shinohara
272 books255 followersChie Shinohara (篠原千絵) is an award winning Japanese manga artist best-known for Red River, known in Japan as Sora wa Akai Kawa no Hotori: Anatolia Story. She has twice received the Shogakukan Manga Award for shōjo, in 1987 for Yami no Purple Eye and in 2001 for Red River.
Aside from her comics work, she has also written several prose novels. She has published the six volume Big Draw Daughter Hatsu light novel series, as well as five gaiden (or side-story) novels related to her Red River series. All of these were illustrated by Shinohara herself.

Welcome to volume 20 where Nefert pretty much proves that Ramses gets his pervy ways honestly (she spends much of the book undressing Yuri).
I'll give Ramses credit - Kail is his enemy and he would gladly see him run through, but he won't take advantage when the playing field is uneven. Good on him. What I don't understand is he claims that Kail must not love or honor Yuri enough because he keeps her as his concubine (apparently his news is super old otherwise he'd know she's engaged). Yet Ramses is the first to figure out the best way to get both of them back to their former fighting selves.
Meanwhile Shinohara continues her campaign to make me not like Nefertiti (not gonna happen lady) and more love! I totally forgot about this couple that crops up in this book! Like to the point where I thought the guy was pretty asexual and the girl was happy without. Go figure!
And I'd swear something happens between Rusafa (that poor beleaguered man his panicked "I saw nothing!" plea when Nefert undressed Yuri before his and Ramses' eyes was priceless) and Nefert, but that may again be my own wishful shipping heart.
Nakia, though name dropped, is not seen in this volume.

What first drew me to this series was the romantic historical aspect. I loved how a modern day girl gets pulled back into the past. I don't know what it is about those stories that attract me so much, maybe it is the difficulty for the girl of fitting in and having to rely on the guy so much to be able to get along in the world.
I would really recommend this series to fans of Inuyasha, it has a lot of the same concepts.

I found this series on a mere coincidence but it quickly became one of my all time favourites. I read the entire series in 1.5-2 days. It was truly wonderful and a joy to experience.

Nefert's outfit in this vol prompts me to think that Mori-sensei would have a blast with ancient Egypt, should she ever set a series there.

Maybe I'm a weirdo but I'm still super invested in this series. I love all of it, I'm a huge fan of historical drama/romances though so this is right up my alley.
5 parts of me wanting her to give in to Ramses out of 5 parts of me reminding myself I hate cheating tropes.

Saya suka Ramses karena sikapna yang "my pace" meski dia seorang jenderal. Dia tau kapan harus serius meski sifat dasarna yang iseng itu gak ilang. Saya juga suka cara(?) dia mendominasi(?) orang lain~ <3
Saya gak suka Yuri, Kail dan Rusafa karena alasan yang sama: cinta buta.
Hati mereka tuh sempit banget yah :'v
Banyaaaaaaaaaaak banget gituh lho cewek/cowok cakep, intelek, dan punya kekuasaan di dunia mereka, tapi tetep aja mereka terpaku pada satu orang yang sama =___________=a
Gak realistis =w=
Selain sikap cinta buta itu, saya juga gak suka mereka karena sikapna terlalu naif (terutama Yuri). Dia juga terlalu sempurna.

La maggior parte del volumetto è ambientata in Egitto, dove le donne - secondo la moda dell'epoca - vanno in giro a seno nudo. Un po' imbarazzante leggere il fumetto in pubblico, con la gente che sbircia le donnine...
Beh, devo dire che Yuri ci metto parecchio tempo a riprendersi dall'aborto spontaneo, specialmente perché continua a darsi la colpa di ciò che è successo.
D'altro canto, Lusafa sta lentamente ma inesorabilmente risalendo la classifica dei miei personaggi preferiti. Ancora un po' e potrebbe addirittura minacciare il primato di Kash. Anche Ramses ha il suo fascino, mentre Kail... Non so, troppo perfetto forse?!

Anatolia Story vol. 1 - 28

I re-read from teenager to grown up. Not the best idea...
This may be my third re-read of this series. I am pretty sure I read it twice in the first two years of it's release. I was young, I loved it. It was romantic. But after reading it this year (maybe +15 years later....), I was wrong. I just saw wrong turns, within wrong turns. Maybe as an adult, you see things differently.
If you,ve read a manga or book during your early years and end up reading them much later in life, you may end up like me- loving a series in the past and ruining it as the adult in you laughs for once enjoying them... :(
Do I recommend this:
