This was definitely an in-depth take on the Anglo-Sikh wars that dominated the Punjab in the 1800s. It was a better look into the details lightly addressed in The History of the Sikhs, also by Captivating History. With that in mind, some topics became a bit overwhelming and hard to keep track of due to the various persons involved as well as the quick successions, revolts, and battles. Having a brief review of important figures and key moments of battles might have made this more digestible.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. While it is interesting and well written, I found it to be too much of needless loss of life.
