The Quest: A Tale of Desire and Magic

Rate this book
Think true love and spirituality can’t be hot? Think again.

For 30-year-old Kathryn Casey, merging the two has developed into a lifelong quest. A mind-blowing psychic prophecy sends Kathryn on a journey that melds meditation and wine, the Amazon and New Zealanders, hot sex and dark chocolate, and psychic healings complete with strappy sandals.

The Quest delves into the core of one woman’s search for great love. This novel follows Kathryn throughout rainy Portland, OR, as she attempts to capture what she desires most, while avoiding the treacherous pitfalls of self-sabotage.

When Kathryn assumes she’s found “The One” prophesized to enter her life, the Universe works tirelessly to bring her experiences and synchronicities that force her to think for herself. Along the way, she’s visited by new and old friends alike who remind her that finding “The One” requires deeper insight into the self. Armed with this knowledge, Kathryn makes a shocking discovery that forces her to reconsider everything she thought to be true — from her lifelong quest to her desire to bypass motherhood.

It was an interesting perspective on addiction to the chase of our soul mate and how we can misinterpret the signs we see everyday. The ending was a little bit dry and didn't really leave me with a sense to go on the rest of the quest with Kathrine and Matthew if their story were to continue. I wish the best for the author and though the book did not resonate with me very much, I know that it will have a strong impact on someone else.

Cringe worthy

I enjoyed parts of the book but the part with surgical healing sent off warnings to me. Any healing should not be like that. You shouldn’t need days to recover. A true healing is felt and you recover beautifully. It’s a nice change from the romance novels out there. Readers discretion advised. Since people will take what has happened as what is supposed to happen.

Just picked up this book the other week and though I am in the middle of reading Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander", to stretch that story out (since it takes her so long to complete her books), I bought "The Quest".

I love all the metaphysical aspects of this book!!! How she writes about things that are familiar to me as I too have grown up in Portland and have frequented many of the places she writes about and then goes into some of my same authors... one of them Esther Hicks.

To see how this character is in her daily life, getting in touch with herself and her true feelings, breaking past some barriers... I found that this book affected more than I realized. It seems to give a person more energy or awareness of the kind of energy one is allowing/non-allowing into their lives. It is our choice what kind of energy to allow.

As for the plot though... I could see a mile ahead what that the character was doing but all the other things this book gave to me made me overlook that fact. I look forward to reading another book by this author.
