Forced out of hiding, Serenity's crew gets separated, and it becomes clear that everyone looking for the outlaws is on the verge of finding them. River offers to uncover the secrets that are hidden within her in the hope that the crew might have something to bargain with.
* Buffy's Season 8 and 9 artist conquers the galaxy!
Zack Whedon (born August 14, 1979) is an American screenwriter ('Deadwood', 'Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog' and 'Fringe') and Comic Book writer ('Dr. Horrible and Other Horrible Stories', 'Terminator: 2029 to 1984' and Firefly/serenity's 'The Shepherd's Tale').
He graduated in 2002 with a film degree from Wesleyan University where he served as president of the Eclectic Society. Zack is from a family of writers: he is the son of screenwriter Tom Whedon, grandson of screenwriter John Whedon, and the brother of screenwriter/musician Jed Whedon and producer/director/writer Joss Whedon.
His first professional work in television was as a production assistant on his brother Joss Whedon's series, 'Angel'.
He is best known for his work, alongside his brothers Joss Whedon and Jed Whedon, on the parody musical 'Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog' which he co-created and co-wrote.
Another good entry with Zoe as the center of the story arch.
With them being hunted by the Alliance, sought out by the New Resistance, and the need for medical attention. Things get just as bad as they always are for our crew. Mad at Jayne.
This is getting more and more exciting. This is a Firefly-worthy narrative. A couple of interesting storylines seem to be drawing nearer and nearer to each other, and a clash is inevitable. The book ends on an exhilarating cliffhanger. Can't wait to read the next one!
Quick little bit. Feels basically like 10 minutes of a Firefly episode. The art may be a little better in this one, that or the characters we know weren't that important in this one. Or perhaps the story itself was just a little better.
Why must you torture us this way? Waaaahahahahahaaaaa, poor Zoe. I bet she does choose to go to prison, but I also bet the find her ... I hope they find her. This jerkoff big-bad (who I don't quite remember) is the worst. I hope he's got REAL superpowers, because he's going to have River ... oh ... wait ... no ... he's not going ot have River to contend with.
River has put herself into a coma ... so she can focus ... or not focus. So she can get out of her own way and remember some hidden things. She'll be out for 12 hours. I bet she won't wake up until the end of the next issue, which gives this dude pleeeeeenty of time to reek havoc. Technically she could wake up at any moment, but the Whedons weave a good yarn ... I bet she wakes up at just the right time to drive us completely over the edge emotionally.
There wasn't enough Kaylee in this issue ... or the first issue--I DEMAND MORE KAYLEE! I am so glad Mal confronted Jayne, and didn't just let him back into the crew without earning his way back. He will have earned it by the end of the series I think ... that is ... well ... let's not speculate about deaths at this point. Let's pretend this is a nice 'verse where nobody really dies ... yeah, right.
Another great cliffhanger. I'm getting used to the art style of their faces, apart from that, I stop reading every once in a while to admire the vibrant colours and beautiful galaxy.
Zoe has always been my favourite firefly/serenity character so I'm rooting for her to get through this mostly on her own, physically and mentally.
I am really loving our new character, Bea, who was introduced in the first issue. She is rightfully demanding and in power, she doesn't hold back putting an out of place Jayne in his place as he still is using his casual sexist remarks and expecting people not to react. He seems to like being told what to do by a woman much smaller than him, ironic and great to witness.
I hope to see more of Mal dealing with the emotion of not having Zoe to support him and vice versa. Just like the first issue, there is one or two lines that really stick out and tug at your heart strings, making you remember the simple days of early Firefly episodes.
The story finally picks up in this second installment. Jayne comes back to the gang, although isn't welcomed as warmly as you would want. Something bad happens to Zoe and were left without knowing what is really going to happen to her. The only problem I have with this comic is the fact that the cover doesn't really match with the story. Maybe it's foreshadowing but I don't think it fits with this installment. I'm just so glad the story after the movie is continuing, I can't give it anything less than 5 stars!
Another great issue. The story is really picking up now. I really feel for Mal and how he wants to do the right thing and do right by his crew and he just does not catch a break with all the encounters he has to deal with! I am really excited to see how the story moves in the next issue because the way it ended was definitely a cliff hanger and the reintroduction of a character from the TV series which is really cool.
All the characters are back. River is now the pilot of Serenity. Zoe is pregnant. Only Jayne is not abroad, but he makes an appearance, After the revelation about Miranda, there is a new rebellion building. The Alliance wants to discredit the Miranda scandal. Both the new rebellion and the Alliance want to locate Mal Reynolds and Serenity.
I been in ugly spots before, pinned down behind enemy lines, no food for days, hardly any ammo. But I always had Zoe by my side. The feels, damnit! This issue was even better than the first. My only complaint is that they aren't long enough! I want MORE.
So far, this feels very true to the 'verse and true to the characters. Really impressed with the writing and I even like the art style, which is always tricky when a comic is based on a tv show with such recognizable faces.
These comics pick up 8 months after where the movie ended. They are good in giving us an idea of what happen after. I just have two complaints: One, the characters seem a bit 'off'. Two, they are way too short.
Continuing events from the previous issue, Jubal Early is on the trail of Mal and the crew. Jayne meets up with some rebels also looking for Mal. Zoe has given birth to a baby but is having some medical issues.
I am definitely loving the story but the art still bugs me a little.
I love the covers for this series that's for sure. This issue felt a bit short and more of an in between issue, but still enjoyable, I'm ready for the next issue. I wish I could review the series as a whole, that is always much easier than individual issues.
This was another great read! The crew of Serenity find themselves in even deeper trouble in issue two as they are on the run from the Alliance. Can't wait to read issue three!
