Amazonia is, without doubt, the greatest rainforest on earth. Some 50 percent of the world's terrestrial species, including rare - and often unique - animals and plants are found here, while during the rainy season, a staggering one fifth of all fresh water on the planer flows along the mighty river Amazon. Nick Gordon's photographs give us an unrivalled insight into that wilderness. Having lived in Amazonia for more than ten years, filming and photographing the wildlife and indigenous peoples of the area, he has amassed a unique and wide-ranging collection of images. Written in a lively and accessible style, the accompanying text is both informative and entertaining.
An incredible book with beautiful photographs and mind-blowing stories. It has extremely rich content and covers so many aspects of the Amazon forest and different ecosystems. You can feel the author's love for Amazon and its people from every page. I loved the amazing images of the Matis people. The chapters on rainforest birds, spider monkeys, marmosets, and black caimans were pretty amazing! Overall it's one of the best photography books I've read so far.
Fantastic. Breathtaking. Fascinating. All at once! A picture does tell a thousand words, but, when accompanied by rich & insightful anecdotes right from Nick Gorden himself, it speaks volumes more than can be expressed here in words.
The book showcases the unique environment & fragile diversity of Natives, Animals & Nature that still exists in Wild Amazon, despite the years of abuse done by humans. Equally important, it also helps us understand "WHAT" we must strive to protect from us humans itself!!!
Nick Gordon is so passionate about Amazonia ! which makes his way of describing it so unique .. in addition to the astonishing rare photos. I enjoyed reading it <33
