When a dead, naked body is found frozen in the snow, recently promoted Detective Serena Daniels is assigned to the case. Determined to be taken seriously, she sets to work unraveling the mystery, one suspect at a time.
Brody Sullivan is a man with many secrets and he also just happens to be Madison County's newest citizen. So when he ends up on the list of potential suspects, it is Serena's job to clear his name. There's just one problem: Serena's felt an undeniable attraction to Brody that ignited from the moment they first met, and if she's not careful she may lose more than her job, she may lose her heart to the man who is willing to break every one of her rules.
ADULTS ONLY. New Adult Paranormal/Werewolf Romance: Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.
Romantic thriller is how I would describe this novella. Although a short read this was action packed and had me on the edge of my seat!
Serena had a gruesome unexplainable murder in her town, an incredibly handsome one night stand which turned into multiple nights *eye waggle*, and an unexplainable attraction to a possible ally who could help her solve the case, if she could manage to keep her thoughts off of bedding him. I know right! Girls got issues!
Brody and Wes are the aforementioned men in Serena's life and they are just as complicated, deceiving, and somewhat untrustworthy as they sound. They are phenomenally written characters!
I don't want to give anything away so I'll put it plain and simple....
Exciting storyline, sexy/dangerous alphas, and a must read IMO!
My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!! ***Received the ebook from Michelle Fox & Fido Publishing
Okay, I read this book as part of the Fated Mates: The Alpha Shifter Boxed Set, and it is the first book. I saw this book on its own when it was on sale for 99 cents, and now I realize I was an idiot for now buying it. Awesome is all I can say!!
The cover is sexy and awesome :) Love looking at it with that sexy smirking bad boy :)
This story has so much action with a murder mystery and sexy strangers. Serena is a kick butt female detective who is always having to prove herself in the boys club. I can totally relate to the challenges of proving yourself when I worked on computers, and men walked right by me to ask the guys I worked with for help, and they pointed to me and said I was the computer person that they only fixed radios. It irked me but was amusing too because the guys were always laughing when the customer had to back track to me for help. They never missed what had happened. Serena is a strong and does her best always. I love heroines like this!!
Brody is sexy and mysterious, but is he a killer?? Well I’m not telling you, you have to read to find out what happens. It is action-packed :) I read it straight through and loved it!! This is not the typical shifter book that is romance first, I’d say the murder mystery cop stuff comes first. My grandma will love this book, so I’m going to have to buy it for her.
I highly recommend this book to my shifter loving friends, but also to my friends who like murder mysteries :) Fabulous, I’m going to have to look into more books by Adriana Hunter :)
Wow, this is a mystery that kept me guessing. I've not read anything by Adriana before so I am very excited to have discovered a new author whose writing I enjoy this much! The story started a bit slow but it picked up quickly. This is really different from the usual werewolf stories that I have read and I can see it becoming a series. I'm giving it 5 stars because I just liked it that much.
I read this in the 'Fated Mates' set of books which I was given in exchange for an honest review.
What would you do if your one night stand ended up a suspect for a murder and possibly some kind of supernatural being? Well Serena would have to figure this little problem out in this book.
Now if your are looking for the relationship developing romance this is not the book for you. This is more of a mystery detective book with some supernatural thrown in. It's a really good mystery though.I continually went back and forth on who the murderer was in this book and didn't know for sure until right before the big reveal. It kept me pretty hooked in needing to solve that little mystery. Great book!!
Detective Serena Daniels has her hands full. Being the only female lead detective in a male oriented environment is stressful enough before adding in naked dead bodies.
Brody Sullivan is a wolf shifter with secrets. When he and Serena meet they are instantly attracted to each other. The only problem is that he is a suspect for the murders she is investigating.
Against her better judgement Serena allows herself to fall for Brody but complications arise in the form of a bounty hunter chasing Brody. Whose telling the truth? And which man does she really want?
I enjoyed the way the author kept you guessing for most of the book. Serena was a strong character which I liked. For those who enjoy shifter romance books and a mystery to boot this is the book for you.
Well written story that kept my interest throughout the entire book. I love the mystery involved and the who's done it. Serena is great lead female Detective for this story. A steamy shifter romance and a murder mystery all in one. Another great job of writing by the author. As always with Adriana Hunter it was entertaining and extremely enjoyable to read. Never a dull moment. This is the first in the Fated Mates (Alpha Shifter Box Set) but is also a individual book. I bought the book and got the box set as a gifted copy for an honest review.
This is the first book I have read of Adriana Hunter and it will most definitely not be my last! I thoroughly enjoyed this paranormal romantic suspense! Serena and Brody's story was unique, mysterious, adventurous and oh so HOT HOT HOT to say the least! I highly recommend this book!
Serena is a female detective on a predominantly male force. Because of that she's used to appearing harder than she is, but when two new visitors show up in town and wreak havoc on her emotions and body she doesn't know what to do or who to trust.
After the discovery of a dead body Wes, a supposed tracker, shows up in Serena's office offering up all the details she needs to help solve the case. And of course he's sexy with a persuasiveness about him that makes her want to let him help her catch the bad guy. Not to mention help relieve the little bit of built up tension between them.
Brody is the man whose been marked by Wes as the murderer of not only Serena's unknown dead body, but also many before him. But he's also much more. He's the man who swept into town first and the man who fell for Serena before he ever knew she was a cop. Oh yes, that was definitely a nice way to start the book!
"Fair thee well my black hair'd diamond…fair thee well my own Aisling. Thoughts and dreams of you will haunt me…"
I loved the interactions between all three characters as the mystery of 'Who did it?' was uncovered. The ending was also very enjoyable. Most books end when the bad guy is caught, but this one brings you past that to what happens afterwards. You can definitely close this book without feeling jipped at the end.
My Favorite Moment: The ending was perfect. A wolf swearing his obedience to the love of his life. Yep…perfect!
My Favorite Quotes: "Based on the tracks… or prints… maybe you should be asking if anyone's seen any large, naked, frostbitten men in the Falls. With as cold as it's been, some of his, ah… parts would be affected."
"You're either going to run for the hills or think we're crazy."
Overall, I liked this book. However, it did have a couple of interactions in it that bordered on rape and those weren't my favorite. On one hand, I was uncomfortable. On the other, what Serena went through WAS uncomfortable, especially as she came to understand what had happened and why she'd acted the way she acted, so that worked.
Still, rapey scenes aren't really my cup of tea.
BUT... hot werewolves who woo their lady friends with long looks and by saving their frozen booty ARE my cup of tea. So, yay!
I did like the mystery. Serena had to sort through a lot of unbelievable information to get to the truth and she handled it like a champ. Between the weirdness of this case and her attraction to both the main suspect and someone who was flat out telling her werewolves were real, she could have easily checked out mentally. Instead she follows her gut and works through what she knows to be true to find justice.
Not going to lie, the hot sex probably jump started her brain somehow. Because hot werewolf action ALWAYS helps.
Enjoyable for the most part. While I wasn't a huge fan of some of what Serena went through, I can appreciate how it worked with the story.
I struggled with this book. In the beginning I was inclined towards liking it, but then small things started to bug me. Firstly the love triangle and sex scenes. It seemed as if the story became less about the case and more about how many times she could cop off with the two shifters in the story. It plays around a whole mind control thing but still, the whole thing just made Serena less and less likeable to me, not that I really felt any strong connection to her in the first place. Which leads to my second gripe. You never really feel as if you get to know Serena or any of the characters all that well. The result the only character I really liked was Brody, but even he was flawed and in the sense that he didn't seem to really have any flaws. Believable characters have to have flaws, because no one is every perfect. Towards the end I was struggling with the book, rolling my eyes through the boring and incredibly repetitive sex scenes and just wanting the book to end already. Without all the sex and Serena's boring thought pattern this book could have been a lot shorter and a lot faster paced. Even so, I'm not sure it would have been for me because I really like to get to know the characters to feel a connection with them and I just wasn't getting that with this book.
This story had murder, mystery, intrigue and is a romantic suspense thriller. The story was engrossing and a page turner. Detective Serena Daniels is the lead on the murder case, she is bright, a hard worker and determined to solve this case. Serena becomes involved with Brody Sullivan the main suspect in the murder (before she knew he was a suspect) and at the same time she has an interlude with Wes an apparent outside professional interested in the case also.
This was a great story however, I did not enjoy the fact that Serena was involved with two men at the same time and I would have loved to have seen much more romantic interaction between Serena and Brody. That said it was a great read.

In "All American Wolf" we meet Serena, a detective that is assigned to a peculiar and shocking murder case. To her surprise her path crosses with, Brody Sullivan, a man who was meant to be a one night stand, but ends up knowing more about the case then he should. As the sparks that had led to that one extraordinary night reignite, Serena must work to solve the case, not only to catch the killer, but to clear the name of the man she's falling for,
This has a little of everything. It has steamy scenes, mystery, a strong heroine and of-so-sexy hero. It truly is a page turned that will keep you up until the wee hours of night completing, Highly recommended.
This book delivers a romantic murder mystery with a shifter twist. It is well written, and suspenseful enough that I had to stop reading a couple of times to breathe deeply before diving back in for more. The characters were well described, and the relationships were cleverly developed. A very good read.
This is a murder mystery that had a lot of twist in it. You have a wolf who is hunting other wolves. You have human detectives trying to solve murders that don't look like random animal attacks. You have a wolf on the run from another for a power play. The romance is slow to build but once it does it gives a good addition to the book.
I liked the story. It wasn't hard to follow and wasn't really bad on the gory details. It was pleasant

I found The All American Werewolf a wonderful book to read. Serena is a detective in Wisconsin trying to find a killer of an college student. Brody is a sexy shifter that she meets at a dinner one night and has a fling with. The author brought this story together with drama and suspense that was very interesting. There's a lot of twist in turns in this book that I found very creative.
This is the first book by this author that I've read and I will definitely be looking her up. I enjoyed the mystery and suspense just as much as the romance. I found a couple of grammatical errors but nothing that took away from the story. I would recommend this read to my fellow paranormal romance readers.
I liked the parts where Serena actually did her job. The relationship between her and Brody on the other hand was just meh. They just have sex - the sex scenes were not really good - and thats basically it.
She also sleeps with someone else but in the end you learn that it was basically sexual assault but that's not even really addressed?
This started off great, a kick arse cop heroine, connection between hero/heroine and a murder mystery.
Such a shame it then it turned to shit…Our heroine became: * TSTL * A raging bitch * A pathetic cop - no wonder people thought she slept her way to the job….
I really liked the setting of the story as well as the characters. I picked the book without knowing what it was all about and was surprised that they took the theme of a criminal investigation and following the main character, Serena, who was a police officer. I really enjoyed that part since I thought it would take more cliché plots.
It was quite a short story, but I was kind of dissappointed since I felt it mostly focused in the intimate relationships that in the case and mystery of finding the suspect or killer they were looking for. Also, the relationship between the main characters developed too quickly with barely or no romantic gestures being depicted, they just fall in love and the reader has to get the idea that they are together and love each other for kingdom come. With that said the ending was rushed and then the story tries to incorporate some other aspects regarding Brody's life like his pack and rituals. It was too quick for me, they barely knew each other.
I know the story tries to depict the "fated to be mated" theme but for me it didn't quite pull it off, the connection between them didn't really felt strong enough for me, aside from their physical attraction. Also, I wished for Serena to be described as a strong woman but throughout the book it felt like she was quite unreliable, letting her feelings get the better of her and leaving her work undone. Though there are some reasons behind this, specially regarding the antagonist, it still didn't quite clicked for me.
I would have liked more depth with the characters, mainly Brody, whom we practically know nothing about until the end of the story.
Overall it was a nice read if you don't expect too much character or story depth or big twists.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Serena is the lead detective on a case that get stranger and stranger by the day. A naked frozen body shaken to death , wolf prints that are too big for their own good, and evidence that runs in circles. Not to mention that the man she slept with just days prior is the main suspect according to a tracker who comes in with wild stories and an addictive personality she can't seem to ignore. Will she solve this case or will things get out of hand before everything comes to a head?
Serena as a female lead was ok, she is working in a guys world and trying to prove she didn't earn her place on her back. Problem is she doesn't seem to have a backbone when she needs it there at the beginning, but she definitely found it there at the end. Brody is intense and mysterious but in their few inneractions you can see they have chemestry. And if Brody was intense, Wes is outta this world over the top intense. Strong and seductive you can't be 100% sure whats happening til the end. The story itself is interesting but it's the shifter aspect that left me wanting. I wanted to understand more of the backgrounds and abilities of the shifters in this world. And more background on Serena would have been nice too. Why did she want to be a detective? What about her family? Same thing for the other characters. Small things that make you feel connected to the characters and the story.
This was a rather good book it was great in fact right up until the very ill advised and more than rushed ending. It was terrible. The whole story and the universe Adriana Hunter created was interesting and really well developed. I was impressed with it being included in the Fated Mates Bundle on Amazon I thought that it would conclude with a cliffhanger as most of them do but this one was complete. However, the ending left so much to be desired. It was so quickly wrapped up in a very generic "romantic" ending that it really ended up tainting the whole story. I was connecting with the characters and wondering where their story would lead; reading the end after the mystery was solved I thought that Adriana Hunter was setting these characters up for a series or at least to explore the other characters that were introduced in her home town. I wanted to know what happened to her partner and whether or not she would return to her detective position in her new town or back home. There was so many ways that this book could have ended it was just a huge disappointment that it had to end like a romance writing for idiots or dummies books. The only thing I can think of is that maybe a deadline approached and she just slapped something together hoping that she could fix it sometime in the future. But anyway that's why I gave it three stars instead of two.
I read this as a part of the fated mates box set via Netgalley. WARNING: This review contains some spoilers Detective Serena Daniels has a murder case to solve. A dead man in the middle of a frozen lake in Wisconsin. At first sight it seems open and shut, an animal attack. But soon a stranger ( Wes Callahan) comes in with accusations that this was a shifter attack. And that shifter is non other than handsome Brody Sullivan who'd she just had a one night stand with days before. It was a pretty fast paced story you can read in a couple of hours. I like the element of mystery but in some ways it was pretty obvious. Like how Wes conveniently had all this information he just wanted to hand the police...tsk tsk. That right there let me know something was up with the guy. He was just too eager. Another thing that bugged the hell outta me was when she was doing both guys back to back. serious ick factor. Even when I figured he was using some kind of mind manipulation it was just icky. Very awkward love triangle. Good story telling but just wasn't all the memorable to me. Entertaining but not something I would read twice.
Sitting down for a burger and a brew at her favorite little bar after a long day on the job detective Serena gets more satisfaction than she was expecting when she leaves with Brody Sullivan, the hot stranger at the bar. However, a one night stand doesn't really make up for the helluva day she has the next day when the frozen body of a murder victim is found on the lake the next day. Her biggest suspect is someone she doesn't want to have to suspect.
I bought this book as part of the Fated Mates book collection, as a huge reader I have decided to save a penny I am buying in bulk. This box set is worth way more than I paid and I feel like I got a great deal. And the All American Wolf starts it off with one heckuva bang. I really enjoy the both sensual scenes of this furry romance novel, but it also had quite a bit of substance. Without a Fabio cover the bodice ripping occurs but its the passion that leaves a lasting impression. I would recommend this book for anyone who likes both paranormal and romance novels, this is the perfect way to curl up and get all fired up.
There is a serial killer on the loose. Thr heroine is the police detective in charge of the case. She doesn't actually do any detective work because she is too busy sleeping with both suspects. Thank goodness she has a good team though. With the information her team finds and the information she covers up she finally solves the case. She is an unprofessional, incompetent and a slut. It is no wonder everyone thinks she slept her way into her job. That seems to be her only skill. I give this 2 1/2 stars because athe story isn't good but it isn't poorly written.
Nice novella. It was very...unexpected. By that, I mean that a lot of nuances about the book were quite different than what you typically read. It's difficult to explain without spoilers. The characters. At first I thought, wow, is she a slut or what? Then I caught on to what was happening. I'm glad the author left that to the reader to figure out. But then, the er, romance, was hotter with the one you wouldn't expect. I didn't connect enormously with the characters, but I still enjoyed them.
