When a dream job offer lands at my feet, I jump at the chance to move halfway around the world to New York. After the recent issues in my current role, Italy is the last place I want to be.
But my delight is short lived when I meet the arrogant, domineering Callum O’Reilly, I loathe him on sight, and what’s worse is he loathes me, too.
With our animosity in the boardroom getting worse, and neither one of us willing to give an inch, a business trip to Chicago gives us no option but to work together for the good of the company and both our careers.
Through our forced proximity, my defenses begin to crumble, and the boss I once despised now makes my heart race. But just as I’m about to get everything I ever wanted, my past catches up with me.
With my world in chaos, can Callum’s devotion shield me from the storm? Or will our fledging love buckle under the strain?
Author This book was previously released as Against All Odds, part of the Brook Brothers series. It has been completely reimagined and re-edited.
Tracie Delaney writes billionaire romance where the men fall hard and the women make them work for it. Even though she has more than 35 novels published across many different series, Tracie still considers herself a reader first and foremost and loves fangirling over her favorite authors.
At night she likes to curl up on the sofa with her two furbabies, Murphy & Cooper, and binge-watch shows on Netflix. There may be wine involved.
Callum O'Reilly is an asshat of the first degree, except maybe with his family. He has taken leave of absence from work to help his brother out after he is hurt in an incident( You can find out what by reading the previous book Declan). When Callum returns to the business he runs with his best friend, to find that a new marketing director has been taken on without his knowledge, he see's her as a threat to his position and as joint CEO and sales director, he is not pleased. Laurella is already very experienced in the role she has bee hired for, and is not going to sit and take Callum's, frankly hostile reaction to her. She is determined to show him she is more than capable of bringing more business to the company and if he doesn't like it, well tough. The two are like two fireworks in a box. Light the blue touch paper and stand well back. This is another amazing read from Tracie. The O'Reilly brothers are proving to be a close knit bunch, yet so different from each other. As always Tracie writes her characters so well you actually find yourself loving them, or in Callum's case wondering how this ass is ever going to make you like him. I can't wait to meet Ciaran, Callum's twin in the next book but in the meantime would say you really need the O'Reilly Brothers in your life.
I can't like callum at all he's rude and treats both women like dirt what he says to Laurella amounts to sexual harassment he cant go though her stuff and ask her to wear lingerie.. he’s too childish and disgusting to like and making it seem like a school boy with a crush is just downplaying abusive behaviour! He’s meant to be a business man but he’s just mans club bully and nothing he does makes up for it. I absolutely cant get why she suddenly is jealous of the woman he leaves her at the table with then screws loudly in the room next to her how can such pig behaviour turn anyone on? He seduces her to get back at her for a BUSINESS issue no morals at all! No way no woman would like such disgusting behaviour! He says it’s not all him she gives as good as she gets but there’s a difference she’s reacting to HIS actions he’s the one refusing to act like a grown up! I got about to 39% then stopped coz I realised I didn’t want him to get her she deserves better! Every time he didn't like something he did something cruel and demeaning thats no way to behave. IF I could give NO STARS I would! Hard Pass on this book will move on to the next one though fingers crossed it’s better.

Callum is a power hungry ass. After returning to work after a leave of absence from work to help his brother out after he is hurt in an incident he disocvers a new marketing director has been taken on without his knowledge. And he is butt-hurt and decides to make her life hell.
Laurella is not going to sit and take Callum's shit.. She is determined to show him she is more than capable of bringing more business to the company and if he doesn't like it, well tough. Loved her Italian spirit.
The two are like two fireworks in a box. Callum pissed me off more than once. But when he finally gives in to his attraction and she reluctantly says yes, he falls hard.
The character development of Callum was necessary. He owns up tp him being as ass.
Another offering from this talented author who has now become a real go-to for me. I highly recommend this book and eagerly await the next in the series.
