The plan was to destroy his life, not to fall in love.
I’ve spent years plotting my revenge against the man responsible for wrecking my childhood. He deserves what’s coming to him, and more. But when my mark unexpectedly dies, it’s left to his son to pay for the sins of his father.
Except I didn’t predict millionaire hotelier Declan O’Reilly to awaken a fierce longing inside me. Every stolen glance, every illicit touch threatens to expose the truth, one I can’t allow Declan to unveil.
With our lives intertwined, a future I never expected is within my grasp. Until shadows from my past emerge, threatening everything I’ve come to hold dear. As long buried secrets surface, I’m forced into making an impossible choice.
Can I stop the ticking time bomb before it explodes in my face? Or will my twisted lies end our relationship before it’s even begun?
Author note: This book was previously released as The Blame Game, part of the Brook Brothers series. It has been completely reimagined and re-edited.
Tracie Delaney writes billionaire romance where the men fall hard and the women make them work for it. Even though she has more than 35 novels published across many different series, Tracie still considers herself a reader first and foremost and loves fangirling over her favorite authors.
At night she likes to curl up on the sofa with her two furbabies, Murphy & Cooper, and binge-watch shows on Netflix. There may be wine involved.
2.5 There wasn’t really a resolution… I think you kinda took the easy way out with this one, and like, no… I wanted to know what was happening?! But oh well… it was meh
Declan has spent many years looking after his three brothers after they lost their parents. He is slowly building a hotel chain and has come up short for funding with the latest project. The search for the funding brings him to Indie. Indie has not had an easy life. Her father lost everything when she was child and turned into a mean and abusive drunk. Her brother tried his best to protect her but life was a battle and her father blamed Declan's father for his down fall. Indie and her brother Phil plan to bring Declan down to revenge their awful childhood " the son paying for the sins of the Father." Fate brings Declan to Indie and the plan to destroy him starts rolling. Indie soon realises Declan is not the monster she thought and gradually she feels less inclined to hurt him, Phil on the other hand is determined to bring him down and has Indie too frightened to say no. This is a great read, a love story that is twisted with secrets and lies, fueled by hatred and revenge. Indie's brother is a piece of work and his emotional blackmail has really messed with her. Can she find the courage to tell him no and love Declan for the man he really is. We meet Declan's brothers all of who add wit and sometimes a little intrigue to the story. The way Tracie has written, not only the amazing family dynamic the O'Reilly's have, but the unhealthy relationship Indie has with her brother, makes this a really great read. The twists and turns will have you not wanting to put the book down until you have read the last page. Watch out for future books, the O'Reilly boys all have their own story and I can't wait to find out what makes them all tick.
I was introduced to Tracie Delaney by another mafia dark romance author - Kylie Kent - and I am thrilled. Declan (book 1 in the O'Reilly Brotherhood) was a great place to start.
Declan is the head of a family of 4 brothers. He is building a hotel chain and has come up short for funding with the latest project. The search for the funding brings him to Indie. This is just what Indie and her brother needed as they have a long range goal of revenge against his family because of her family collapsing when she was a child.
Indie and Declan start their romance and Indie discovers that all is not as it seems. Declan is not the monster she thought and his family has had its own difficulties. She is reluctant to continue with the planned destruction the O'Reilly family but her brother Phil is blinded by hate and Indie gets trapped between the 2.
The twists and emotions caused by the emotional pressure put on Indie by her brother, as well as the developing "forbidden" romance adds some great development to the story.
Declan's brothers are introduced and they add their own dynamic and wit to the story. The future books will certainly be on my TBR list.
Declan is the oldest of 4. When his parents die when he is 18, he pushes his dreams to the side to prioritize his brothers. Once they are good he starts focusing om building a legacy his dad would be proud of. Declan is dedicated, kind and sweet. And a little kinky.
Indie hving had a seriously shitty childhood is basically brainwashed now by her brother to seek revenge. Her target is Declan. She falls in love with him not surprisingly because he is the definition of kind.
Their relationship, despite Indie having different intentions, grows organically. Declan is patient and too sweet for words. Ice-skating candlelit nights romantic dinners 🥰
All comes to light and he pushes her away (rightfully so).
This book was a 5 until the last chapters and epilogue. We never learn the truth about their dads and reason for revenge. And them coming back together seemed rushed and not full-circle. The epilogue involved them but the POV was his brother who doesn’t want him to forgive Indie, and was simply forshadowing to the next book which is his… strange.
Indie Monroe and her brother were brutalized by their father who became a drunk when he felt that Declan’s father had destroyed his family — Her brother is out for revenge but when Declan’s father dies, he sets his sights on his son, millionaire hotelier Declan O’Reilly. He demands (with some bruising) for Indie to romance Declan. But, when they do happen to meet, she falls for him, and vice versa. She is caught in the middle of her brother’s revenge and being loved by Declan. This is not an easy story to read, because 2 chracters are caught in brutalized child/protected but still somewhat brutalized sister syndrome. You never learn what the good guy’s father did (easily could have been innocent). I had to look up pronunciation of brother named Cieran (it is Irish Keeeeran) (It was distracting trying to decide).
This was my first book by this author and the premise intrigued me. I love a good revenge plot that ends up as something more and this had all the components. Indie and Declan were so cute together and I loved his brothers too. Phil was an interesting character and all in all the plot wasn't bad... The only thing I wanted more of *SPOILER ALERT WARNING* was the reveal it would have been nice to get the details of why they wanted revenge and what actually happened between the dads especially when it seemed like it was hinting that Nate saw a different side to their dad than Declan did.
What a fantastic book by Tracie. The way she plays with words throughout the book kept me hooked from the get go. The brothers, all three of them, brought something to the table. The story was interesting. Declan was the role model, but in this book he let loose and set out to do something for himself. The chemistry between him and Indie was off the charts. I definitely can’t wait to read Callum, but Ciaran is the one I’m really looking forward to next. Definitely a series to look out for.
Enjoyed Declan and India's story. You feel for Indie as she is being torn between Declan and her brother but you also understand Declan's reaction to her betrayal. Liked his they tried to repair their relationship and hopefully we see more of their journey as the other brothers stories emerge. All the brother's are so different and I teresting.
This is a good book but it loses a star coz i can't understand why the author would leave out the answers to the biggest part of the plot! We don't find out IF his father actually did do that to hers? How can they really move forward as a couple without the answers?
I only finished it because I was mildly curious how it would end. But the writing was amateur and cliche. The characters were all stereotypical tropes with no real personalities. The plot was boring. The spice was basically non existent.
Declan and Indie's story was good..........although the revenge reason was never divulged. Interesting. But you have to love families and their dynamics!
Ugh…I was interested in this story line but what the heck was that lack of an ending about???? Worries me to try more in this series if all the endings aren’t endings.
