In the wild mountains of the Montana Territory, the Coulter ranch is a place of family, second chances…and a hidden fortune.
As the second brother of six, Jonah Coulter has no shortage of family, yet he’s more than ready to find a woman who doesn’t see him as her second choice. Haunted by the loss of his sister Lucy and the rejection of his former fiancée, he sets out to find the aunt of a lost child his family has taken in. Maybe reuniting the girl with her only remaining family will give him the purpose he craves.
After fleeing her past and the man who killed her late husband, Patience Whitman has reinvented herself in the untamed Montana Territory. Relying on her gambling skills to survive, she’s determined to earn enough to buy the life she dreams of—a bit of land and a home of her very own, far enough away from people that she can finally find peace. But then a man shows up in town searching for her and says his family has taken in her niece, Patsy’s perfectly laid plans go awry. If Anna really is here in the Montana Territory, Patience can’t abandon the only family she has left.
As Jonah and Patsy navigate the treacherous landscape of their pasts and little Anna’s future, they must confront their deepest fears and learn to trust each other. But when Patsy's dangerous past catches up to them, they must risk everything to claim the happily ever after they both crave.

“Don’t let fear hold you back from reaching for something better.”
I have been Team Jonah since the very first book in this series but never more than after Earning the Mountain Man’s Trust. I so badly wanted him to find his own happily-ever-after with someone who truly ‘gets’ him and values him, so to say that I was eager for Winning the Mountain Man’s Love would be an understatement.
Jonah is such a sweetheart though he often feels like an outsider in his large family, and the events from the previous book certainly didn’t help in that department. Needing the space to deal with his disappointment, he’s embarked on what feels like an insurmountable search for the last remaining relative of the little girl his family has taken in. All they know is that she has red hair and her name is Patsy. Beller has kept this gentle hero consistent across the series, so it’s no surprise that Jonah keeps pushing on, refusing to give up until he’s exhausted every possibility. And that’s partly why I love his character so much – that quiet-but-steady strength and integrity… and his big heart. He gives his heart to Patience (aka Patsy) very quickly, without a lot of time spent getting to know one another, and that surprised me at first… until I went back to why he opened his heart to Naomi in previous books. He knows what it’s like to be an outsider, to have your mistakes held over you, and it’s his nature to protect others who need a safe place to land. Ahhhh have I mentioned yet what a great guy he is? Or how much I love him? lol
Patience definitely needs a safe place to land, and my heart went out to her for what she’s endured so far as well as for the fear that keeps her looking over her shoulder. Her dream of living one day in the idyllic and protected valley seen in a miniature painting she owns resonated with me, and I love how Beller works that into the story in such a heartwarming way. Her desperation for this dream to come true, along with the news (and its ramifications) that she’s lost nearly her entire family except for a young niece who needs her, understandably leaves Patience’s emotions in turmoil … which means Jonah has his work cut out when it comes to winning her heart. I have to say, though, I loved watching him try, his focused sincerity and steadiness making him even swoonier than I already thought him to be. But maybe my absolute favorite part of their love story? The way Patience becomes his champion in a way that Naomi never would have. I’m still smiling!
Bottom Line: Winning the Mountain Man’s Love serves as yet another excellent reminder of exactly why I love Misty M. Beller’s writing. Layered and engaging characters (including the rugged mountain setting), intriguing situations to overcome, heartwarming relationships, sweet & swoony romance, and a tender message of the Truest Love of them all – Winning the Mountain Man’s Love has all of this and more. It’s a story about two wounded hearts who find safety in each other but even more importantly in God’s purpose for their lives, and it’s entertaining from beginning to end. And oh boy… the subplot regarding the family ranch is a doozy and its ramifications for the next couple of books in the series has me very impatiently waiting for Gil’s story, Pretending to be the Mountain Man’s Wife, releasing in November. Only two more months, right? I can totally wait…. (whimper).
(I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book)
If you have been reading the Brothers of Sapphire Ranch series, you will know that Jonah was suffering at the end of the last book. Well, it is time for him to find his happily ever after in this story. However, it is not an easily won romance! Patience has a lot of baggage that she carries around and it definitely influences her ideas about what she wants for the future. Can Jonah convince her to include him in her dreams?
If you haven’t read any of the other books in the series, I actually think you could jump in and enjoy this one just fine. The author does a good job of letting the reader know of Jonah’s disappointment from the previous novel, as well as updating the reader on the other family members who live on the mountain.
I really enjoyed this story. It has a nice combination of romance, danger, family dynamics, & a solid faith thread. I thought that both Jonah and Patience eventually brought out the best in each other and both grew in this novel.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
I enjoyed the journey of Jonah as he searched and found Anna's aunt. She has had a rough road of unexpected circumstances, but each time she shifts her path and plans to keep going. Jonah brings bittersweet news- the death of Anna's family members but also a niece that needs her care. Patsy again pivots and does the next right thing, reuniting with Anna and building a relationship with her. Jonah has been disappointed in love- he's a protector and rescuer with a heart of gold. I appreciated how he learns from his past and uses those lessons to develop a stronger bond with Patsy and help her with her faith. As always the author weaves in powerful messages with danger and adventure. Another wonderful addition to the series!

In the rugged Montana Territory, Jonah Coulter and Patience Whitman face battles that goes beyond survival; they’re fighting for their souls, hearts, and faith. Winning a Mountain Man's Love by Misty M. Beller is a beautifully crafted tale of redemption and second chances that reaches far beyond the standard historical romance.
The emotional layers of Jonah and Patience’s journey really hit me. Their struggles, both past and present, are raw and relatable, and Beller doesn't shy away from portraying their emotional complexity. Jonah’s quiet strength and Patience’s guarded heart are perfectly balanced, making their connection feel earned and authentic. Their journey is one of growth—through trust, through faith, and through the recognition that God’s plans are always and ultimately far better than our own.
The themes of redemption, forgiveness, and faith run deep throughout the story. Beller’s writing vividly captures these elements, weaving them into scenes that are both emotionally charged and thought-provoking. Her ability to bring such depth and feeling to the narrative is truly impressive. The Montana landscape mirrors the inner landscapes of the characters—wild, untamed, and full of unexpected beauty.
The book’s richness is heightened by the deep spiritual growth both characters undergo. These powerful quotes from the book helps capture the themes and the impact the story had on me:
"God does love us. He created us, and He knew from the very beginning what would happen in our lives."
"God wants more than anything for us to turn to Him when trials come. He wants us to hide in His protection when it seems nothing can go right. To let Him show us just how much He loves us."
"...she only had to ask for His forgiveness for everything she’d done wrong."
"A true daughter of a powerful God certainly wouldn’t have to fight and scrape through life."
These reflections are steadfast reminders that no matter how rough the road, God’s love and protection are not just present – they’re fiercely waiting for us to lean on Him. In the darkest of trials, these truths cut through the noise of doubt and fear, calling us to place our trust in Him.
If you seek out stories where faith shapes the characters' journeys, inspiring, encouraging, and challenging you along the way, Winning a Mountain Man’s Love is essential reading. It’s the kind of book that weaves itself into your soul, leaving a lingering imprint echoing in the corners of your mind and heart.

Another fun story is a wonderfully written series. I think Jonah's story has become my favorite. I absolutely loved his character in the other books in the series and couldn't wait to see how his story turned out. Patience is the perfect woman for Jonah. She is fiesty and has had a rough past. When Jonah steps in and shows her what unconditional love can be like she can no longer resist him. This book, like the rest of the series, is full of family, faith, love, and of course a little mystery and intrigue. I highly recommend it.
I was provided a copy of the book from the author/publisher. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.
he’s a dealer at a saloon — and makes really good money He comes to find her — her mother died and left her niece all alone. His family is taking care of her . . . but he wants her to come be her family. At the saloon a man attacks her and he saves her. They leave . . . .and he comes back!! She has a gun and uses it - and kills him!!! And this is just the beginning of what happens to them! This is an amazing story of love, danger and God's grace!!!! I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts and comments are my own.
Finally, Jonah gets his HEA. So happy for him. Can’t say I’m crazy about Patsy but I love the lessons she learned through her ordeal, and she makes all the right choices. Eventually. She needs to work on her gun control, though. Gun control in my world means don’t aim unless you intend to shoot and don’t shoot unless you intend to kill. She missed a shot with a derringer, for crying out loud. Sloppy.
Closer to 4.5 stars, just didn’t have that 5 star feeling. I think Misty M Beller needs to be comfortable writing more words, or maybe I just read so fast it feels like a short time span😭😂 I did have a surprise day with no plans and no school so makes sense I started and finished three of her books lol
Jonah Colter is on a mission to find a woman named Patsy who all he knows about her is she has red hair. Anna, the little girl they found in the woods had no other family but this aunt and Jonah was determined to find her for Anna.
Patience was surviving in a dangerous place. Trying to get back home even though it wasn’t much better there when she left. When a stranger comes looking for her she doesn’t trust him until he proves her niece is living with his family. What she finds is far more than she ever thought possible.
I love this series and all the characters. This focuses on Jonah but the rest are all mixed in too. There is danger and learning to trust each other. Love grows between these two and they finally find what God had planned for them after all. It’s a great book and I highly recommend it.
This book follows the perspectives of Patience (Patsy) Whitman and the second eldest brother, Jonah Coulter. It was an enjoyable experience finally seeing Jonah find his love after what happened in the previous book with him and Naomi. The whole Coulter family makes reappearances in this book with Two Stones and Heidi being the only two characters not being present.
The story takes place mainly on the ranch so I will not go into too much detail as it is the same beautiful Montana landscape as the previous books. There are more parts of the story that take place in Missoula Mills, and on the road to Fort Benton once again.
Patience Whitman is the aunt of Anna, the little girl that was found in the previous book, close by the ranch. Unaware of the series of unfortunate events that fell on her family, she was living her own life in the saloon earning her keep at Poker. Her bad relationship with her father as well as the murder of her husband had grown her into an untrusting woman with a rough exterior. She knew how to read people and protect herself with a loaded gun she carried with her at all times. When Jonah first finds her in Missoula Mills, she shows him the same skepticism when he mentions her niece, Anna. Eventually she agrees to return to the ranch where she begins to think about her life as Anna's mom. She views how close her niece had gotten to the Coulter family, particularly with Naomi and Eric who had started regarding little Anna as their own daughter. Throughout the book, Patience is struggling to get to know Anna and even attempts to take her away from the ranch to start their life together. While Patience had good intentions, she was unable to shake the roots Anna had created at the ranch. Eventually she makes the right decision for both her and Anna. As she grows closer to Jonah, she realizes how much she missed out on positive male relationships, so she begins to open up to him and taking a future with him seriously. She remains a brave and selfless person in the book, keeping her own wits about her to protect herself and those she cares about.
Jonah Coulter is still reeling from having lost his relationship with Naomi, so he uses searching for Anna's aunt as an excuse to leave the ranch for a while. He immediately begins doing whatever he can to bring that little girl her family back, taking months seeking out leads until he eventually finds Patience. His first interaction with her surprises him but he shows endless patience and understanding when it came to her immediate distrust of him. They fall into some danger along the way back to the ranch, in which Jonah begins to feel protective of Patience. As they start getting back into a routine with the rest of the family, his attraction to her grows but he is also aware that she had her own plans when it came to her and Anna's future. He was willing to ignore his feelings and potential future with Patience, if it meant she would be free to follow her own path in life. Jonah continues to show his caring and loyalty towards those around him, volunteering to take Patience and Anna to Fort Benton, even if that would mean he would probably never see them again. When he finally comes to his senses, he takes the leap and shows his honest feeling towards Patience beginning the journey of his own happily ever after.
Patience and Jonah both have their relationship with God tested. Jonah struggles to turn and cleave to God's guidance while Patience struggles with allowing God to forgive her. Similar to Angela in the 3rd book, she believes she had done too much bad to be ever forgiven. They both learn to draw closer to God and follow the path he had laid out for the. Their spiritual journeys were pretty sweet and relatable to read.
The romance, as with this whole series is slow-paced and natural feeling. They both had negative experience with relationships and were not too quick to jump into another. They share some tender kissing at times which was swoon-worthy, with one bordering on some innocent spice lol Their relationship ends on a bit of a cliff hanger compared to the others, but plans were made to push their relationship to the next level.
To close out this book, there was finally a strong plot involving the Sapphires from their ranch so the next book shall be quite interesting with how that unfolds.
All in all, this was a great mid-tiered book in this series. While I still did not enjoy it as much as the third one, I thought it was better than the previous book. I hands-down plan on reading the next book as it seems to follow Gil as he becomes part of a fake-relationship trope in order to find a missing brother and save an innocent woman.
“He knew what it was to be judged for the surface of things, for the mistakes and missteps. He knew what it was to need someone to look deeper, to see the true heart beneath.”
Misty Beller writes great historical fiction, using the Rocky Mountains and frontier times for her background setting. Winning the Mountain Man’s Love is the fifth book in the Brothers of Sapphire Ranch series and tells Jonah’s story. Because each story builds a little more of the reader’s understanding of the unique occupation and relationship of the brothers, I suggest reading these books in order. You will be happy for the answers found in each new book!
That said, Jonah has lost at life and love…again. To take his mind off this, he volunteers to be the one to leave the Montana territory ranch in search of little Anna’s aunt. All 8-year-old Anna can tell them is that her aunt’s name is “Patsy” and she has very red hair. Plus, her aunt came west to be married.
Little does Jonah realize that in trying to bring healing to a new “family” member, he will bring heartache to himself and many of those he loves. I feel for Jonah. Because he has been unlucky in love, he feels like he is inferior in the eyes of women. Because he is never quite perfect enough in his family’s eyes, and is an easy target for their mocking laughter, great furrows of hurt have been plowed deep into his soul.
When Jonah meets Patience, he quickly recognizes she may be Anna’s aunt. But she has seen so much meanness and abuse from men, she’s not about to trust another, even though Jonah seems so kind. She wants “freedom from the control of any man. Even this one, as tempting as he was right now. He wouldn’t always be like this. No man could be trusted.” Can Jonah convince her he can see past her surface, into her soul, like he himself longs to be seen?
Yikes! The whole social question that is still very alive today- is a child better off with family, because they are related, or might they be better off where they have been placed for a while, and are loved? What is in the best interest of the child? I wanted to shake Patience a few times with her insistence on following her path. Maybe call out the social workers, too!!
Patience having two different names just about drove me crazy. I wanted her to be called one name or the other. But maybe, the way she seems to teeter back and forth on a couple of major decisions, the double name is on purpose?
As always, just when it seems we could be ready for a happy settlement, the “Oregon Trail” music cues, and disaster strikes. This sets us up for more excitement, more chances to forgive, and more chances to restore relationships. This also gives us a headstart on yet another brother’s story.
I received a copy of the book from Celebrate Lit. I also bought my own copy. No positive review was required, and all opinions are my own.
Notable Quotables:
“God wants more than anything for us to turn to Him when trials come. He wants us to hide in His protection when it seems nothing can go right. To let Him show us just how much He loves us. He does hate sin, but He’s not a God of punishment. He’s made a way for us to be free, so that when we come to Him and ask His forgiveness, our sin disappears. Then He wraps us in His arms…and loves us.”
“It seems like scratching at a sore again and again for years would make it hard to heal.”

Misty M. Beller delivers another exciting story in the Brothers of Sapphire Ranch saga! I’ve been anticipating Jonah’s story since the last book & couldn’t wait to read his second chance at love. Jonah Coulter was all prepared to marry up until his fiancée’s estranged husband showed up. Now heartbroken and dejected, he offers to find the long lost aunt and only living relative of a little girl left at the ranch after her grandmother passed away.
As Jonah searches for Patience Whitman, he finds a woman in a saloon who meets the description, but goes by the name Patsy. Patience has had a rough life surviving abuse, a mail order marriage gone wrong, & finally becoming a widow after her gambling husband was killed. Determined to become independent and earn enough for a little cottage in Indiana, the last thing she wants is a handsome mountain man disrupting her plans. When she learns of her little niece, she decides to accompany Jonah back to Montana.
I adored Jonah & his heart of gold. While he falls for Patsy, her tough as nails, independence requires some patience on his part. As he teaches her about his faith and rescues her in more ways than one, he begins to crack that tough armor she’s built around herself. But will Patsy choose to open her heart, or will she walk away.
I loved the beautiful second chance romance as these two people with challenging pasts finally find happiness. As with all of these stories, there’s a bit of suspense as they battle formidable situations and villains. These Brothers of Sapphire Ranch stories are addictive! While each one is easily read as a standalone, I love the way they connect & how each brother’s strengths get to shine. The Coulter brothers carry a legacy of love of family, faith, and hard work as they run a successful sapphire mine & ranch in the mountains of Montana. I’m so glad there are more brothers to continue this enjoyable series!
Highly recommend to Western romance fans! I received an advanced complimentary copy from the publisher but also purchased a copy through Kindle Unlimited. All opinions are my own and voluntarily provided.
Winning the Mountain Man’s Love by Misty M. Beller Jonah is making a delivery of “Strawberries” to Silver Dollar City but while there, he is also on another search. The Coulter’s need to find the aunt of the young girl they have been taking care of since she showed up on their doorstep with her old and sick Grandma. The grandma was too far gone from exposure to the elements and the sickness in her body to save her, but the Coulters are determined to do everything they can to find the aunt the young girl talks about. Anna needs to have a familiar family member to raise her and comfort her. Jonah is looking for Patsy but instead he finds a woman named Patience who meets the description. Patience has her own past and fears to deal with, so she is a little shy about sharing with strangers. Jonah finally convinces her to listen and talk to him and they start their journey back to the Coulter Ranch. As they make this journey, an attraction begins to form. Jonah has just lost the woman he planned to marry so he is very reluctant to form a new relationship. Patsy (or Patience) is tough as nails and not going to back down or succumb to any man. She has one thing on her mind – to be independent and buy herself a little house overlooking a valley. Jonah just wants to find Anna’s aunt and get on with his life on the Coulter Ranch. Will the Coulter’s be able to provide the protection Patsy needs from the person who killed her husband? Will they even make it safely back to the Ranch? Then there’s the protection of the “Strawberries” which are really the Sapphire mines the Coulters own and are highly secretive about. This is their livelihood. When a group of scallywags find out about them and the sapphires disappear, the whole Coulter family is in a panic. Join the Coulter family and friends on another great adventure! Will Jonah recover from the hurt of lost love? Will Patsy be safe from the man who killed her husband and is now hunting her? Will little Anna find peace and happiness with her aunt and the Coulter family?
Well, I need to amend my opinion from the last book- Naomi isn’t a good person. This is a little bit of annoyance bleeding through- but wow! I was hoping she would take the time to let Jonah know what a good guy he was- something that was lacking in the last book- or maybe have her talk with Patsy about Jonah.. it would have gone a long way in making up for her attitude from her book with Eric, but nope. All we got was her selfishness on display again.
And Eric’s “support” was not great either. For him being Jonah’s friend- well he lacks a lot. I don’t know what the author thought she was doing with that moment, but for me it read as very bland. It wasn’t the worse but it also wasn’t what was needed at that point. In fact throughout this whole book, I kinda wished Naomi and Eric would get hurt. lol. Unfortunately it was poor Jonah that got battered.
Now onto the real couple of this story- I really loved Jonah and Patsy. They matched so well and I felt for them both in a way I didn’t for Eric and Naomi. Jonah and Patsy had such broken souls. Rejected and abused at every turn and seeing them together was so beautiful. I really wanted Anna to stop being a flipping brat and see how she was hurting her aunt. Knowing that once again Jonah lost out on being a “dad” to an adopted child he loved and seeing Anna flat out reject Patsy for Naomi, made me annoyed with the child.
I get the struggle the writer was trying for but it really felt like she was putting Eric and Naomi on a pedestal. Having said that it might have also been the lack of depth that part of the story had. Again it would have benefited seeing Naomi and Patsy talk. It could have made all the difference. Instead we got a child rejecting her aunt.
These are choices I would have liked to have seen. I think it would have added to the emotional depth that was set up for it. But I did enjoy the story. I will revisit this couple’s tale again. They are just that wonderful together.
Christian Historical Romance is one of my favorite Genres. Misty M. Beller is a favorite author in this genre. Winning the Mountain Man's Love is Book 5 in the Brothers of Sapphire Ranch series. I have read this series from the beginning and I get excited when new books come out.
I was excited to see that this is Jonah's story. Jonah is the second of the 6 Coulter Boys and in the last book was disappointed by a potential mate. Jonah has watched his brothers get married and he wants nothing more then to find his life long mate. Jonah is on a mission to find the Aunt of an 8yr old girls, Anna. Anna only knows her Aunts name is Patsy and she has red hair. He leaves the Ranch in Montana and sets out to find her. He eventually finds a woman matching the description, but her name is Patience Whitman. Jonah soon realizes that Patience is actually the Patsy he is looking for. He convinces her to come to Montana to meet her niece Anna. Jonah and Patience travel back to Montana and along the way get to know one another. Will Patience and Jonah have a relationship? Will Jonah find his life long mate?
WOW, this book really tugged at my heart. Jonah really is a man of God and I LOVE how he is willing to help little Anna find her Aunt. Jonah and Patience both have past struggles, especially Patience. Patience was hesitant to trust Jonah because men have abused her in the past. I LOVE that Jonah is truly sincere and Patience sees that in him. I really enjoy seeing them trust in God throughout the getting to know you time and take things slow. This book is one of Faith, Family, Trust, and Second Chances. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys Christian Historical Romance. AMAZING BOOK!
There is one very important quality this author has. She has the gift of taking her readers to the center of each story with details that help readers to envision their surroundings. It is easy to feel like you are right there along the mountains as the characters face danger with each step.
I love Patience and her determination in everything she does. She knows how to survive and puts her faith in action with every decision she makes. It’s not everyday people encounter a woman gambler. I admired her strength and how she hid her thoughts of being harmed by the rough men who frequent the saloon. She has a past that she wants to stay hidden but it soon will meet her face to face.
Jonah has been searching for someone named Patsy for awhile. He has traveled to many towns in hopes of finding her. He wants to reunite a lost child to her aunt. He seems defeated when once again her trail goes cold. With a knock on his door his hunt may be over . The woman standing before him looks just like the woman he knows as Patsy. What he notices is how unhappy she is to be found.
Bringing Patience back with him to his family’s place will bring many challenges. Anna hasn’t seen her aunt in awhile so will she be happy to be reunited with her? Jonah’s family is close but Patience is always on guard when she hears sharp tongues between the brothers. Her life wasn’t very loving so maybe this place will show her what family is about.
Come join Patience and Jonah on their journey to find forgiveness, second chances and trust.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate L. The review is my own opinion.
I have really been invested in the Coulter family since the beginning of this series. After the last book and Jonah letting Naomi go so, she and Eric could be a family, I could hardly wait for his story. And here it is, and it was filled with romance and action and more of the familial love of the Coulter's.
Jonah has been searching for little Anna's missing aunt for some months. After finally finding her, he sees that she is quite a remarkable woman, sometimes he doesn't even know what to think of her.
Patience has a harder life than she would have liked. Some of it due to her own stupid choices and others due to the relationship she had with her father. Now finding out she only has her niece left of her family, she is bound and determined to do right by her. If only her feelings for Jonah would stop getting in the way. Could he really be different than every other man she has known? Even those who should have loved her unconditionally like her father and late husband but only let her down.
I enjoyed going on this journey of true love and the realization that Jonah and Patience have about their own self-worth. This was a great continuation of this series where Jonah finds his true love with a woman who is different than any he has ever meant before.
I was provided a copy of this novel from the publisher. I was not required to post a positive review, and all views and opinions are my own.
Winning the Mountain Man’s Love is a wonderful novel and part of an amazing series that I have loved reading. This is also an author that I am very fond of. Her books are amazing pieces of historical fiction. The knowledge that goes into them and the amount of details added to the history are amazing.
I’ve loved getting to know the Brothers of Sapphire Ranch books. The brothers are amazing actually. I’ve really enjoyed learning more about each one of them.
This book focuses on Jonah. He’s the second oldest of the six brothers and it’s his turn to finally get a happily ever after.
Patience has had a hard life. It’s been difficult for her and now she’s finally escaped her past. Or so she thought. Now Jonah finds her saying he has her niece at his ranch. His family is taking care of her. She won’t abandon her family. But danger abounds.
What a fun novel! I loved the history. I loved the danger. And I loved the suspense as well. Definitely a must-read novel.
I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from Celebrate Lit. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC regulations.
I just love Misty Beller's books! My favorite genre is Christian romantic suspense, and although that's not the genre Ms. Beller's books fall into, and I think they very easily could. Jonah is the 2nd oldest brother of the Coulter boys and he feels like being 2nd is the story of his life. Patricia is a beautiful young woman that has had to deal with many disappointments, losing her family has left her lonely and on her own. Little Anna is a sweet little girl that the Coulter boys found in the forest and have no idea who she is. This story has a lot of background that we keep finding out about. It makes our hearts hurt for these very lifelike characters. I've enjoyed every book in this series and getting to know the Coulter family members more in each book. I'm really going to miss them when the series ends but thank goodness I still have some brothers to learn more about. I totally recommend this book and any of this author's. You can read any of the books in any series and enjoy a story that finishes. But for the most enjoyment read from the start of the series, so you get the whole big picture!
Winning the Mountain Man’s Love by Misty M. Beller is a Christian Historical Romance and the fifth book in the Brothers of Sapphire Ranch series. It continues the stories of the Coulter family, focusing on Jonah Coulter and Patience Whitman. I loved how the author developed the characters and storylines in these books. This series needs to be read to appreciate everyone involved fully.
Jonah Coulter desires to be a woman’s first choice and to put some space between himself, his family, and the fiancee who rejected him; he sets out to find the aunt of a young girl his family took in after her grandmother's death. Meanwhile, Patience, aka Patsy, relies on her gambling skills to survive in the Montana Territory.
The author builds a moving and touching series that draws the reader in and keeps them focused on the story. I loved reading this book and the rest of the series.
So, if you enjoy Christian Historical Romances, check out Winning the Mountain Man’s Love by Misty M. Beller.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.
I always look forward to each new book by Misty Beller. Her characters feel like friends and I’m always happy to read more about them. Winning the Mountain Man’s Love focuses on Jonah and his search for the aunt of Anna, the little girl the family found in book 4. Knowing only her nickname and the color of her hair, Jonah searches through many Montana towns to find Patsy. Patience does not like the nickname Patsy. She has a bit of a troubled past so she has trouble trusting that Jonah is telling the truth about why he is looking for her. Together they learn to trust and to love and to do what is best for Anna (rather than what they want for themselves). Fans of Misty Beller and fans of historical fiction set in the American West will enjoy this book as well as the others in the Brothers of Sapphire Ranch series. As always I look forward to reading the next book in the series. While Winning the Mountain Man’s Love is an adult historical fiction novel, there is nothing that would keep it from being added to a K-12 Christian school library. I received a complimentary copy of Winning the Mountain Man’s Love. This is my honest review.
Winning the Mountain Man's Love is the fifth book in the Brother of Sapphire Ranch series. This is a nicely written story that follows the other books in the series, so they are best read in order. However, the author does give detailed background information so it can be read as a stand alone story. This book focuses on Jonah. A young girl was found on the ranch and only knows of one remaining relative. After his engagement is cancelled, Jonah takes off to find the young girls aunt. He finds Patience, the aunt, gambling to raise money to fulfill her dream of land and a home.
This is an enjoyable story to read. I enjoy the caring characters and how faith plays a role in their lives. It is fun to see how the family changes as new people enter their lives and become a part of the family. I think this is the best story in this series yet. It shows how both Jonah and Patience stive to move on with their lives after their plans change. I enjoy how the whole family looks out for each other and how the work together for the good of the family.
I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book, this is my honest review.
Misty Beller has done it again! This book takes you on an incredible journey through the rugged Montana Territory, where family, second chances, and love are all intertwined. Jonah Coulter’s story is so heartfelt, and you can really feel his longing to find a purpose beyond his role in the family. His connection with Patience, who is trying to outrun a painful past, adds depth and emotion to the story. The mix of adventure, danger, and the tenderness of Jonah and Patience’s growing relationship kept me hooked from the start.
The characters are relatable, and I loved seeing how both Jonah and Patience had to face their fears and learn to trust again. Little Anna added such a sweet touch, reminding us how important family can be, even when it’s unexpected. The way Beller paints the Montana landscape makes it feel like you’re right there with them, trekking through the wilderness.
I’ve read several of Misty Beller’s books, and this one stands out as one of my favorites. I’m really looking forward to seeing what happens next with the Coulter family!
Note: I received a copy of this book from the author and was not required to write a positive review.
I just love the Coulter family! Each book in this series sees another brother get his bride. Jonah leaves the ranch to search for an aunt of a child that was rescued along with her grandmother. The grandmother couldn’t recover from the severe winter weather and died. Going on a flimsy description of the aunt makes his search difficult. After much time passes Jonah finally finds Patience. Bringing her to the ranch to see her niece Anna brings more unforeseen problems. After cutthroat thieves show up at the ranch more danger and lives are threatened. I enjoyed reading more of the brothers and the ranch. Also gave me a chance to see what was happening with the rest of the family. This series is so good you’ll want to read them all but the author does a great job of catching the story up so the new reader is not completely lost. I haven’t met a book by Misty Beller yet that I didn’t enjoy. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through Celebrate Lit but was not required to write a review.
What I love about this author is her great storytelling ability that feels like you are sitting on the front porch listening to a family member tell about the past. In this story both Jonah and Patience have been deeply hurt and you can see the choices they make are based on always feeling less than. Can either of them learn to trust again not only in others but to rely on the ONE who can always be trusted with what is best for us. When unsavory characters come to Sapphire ranch and leave a path of destruction you will be turning pages swiftly to find out who is behind the sabotage and why. Well developed characters who are relatable makes it feel like old friends and descriptive writing pulls you into the setting. I highly recommend not only Jonah’s story but the Brothers of Sapphire Ranch series. I received a complimentary copy from CelebrateLit. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.
This is a excellent Western Christian series. Perfect for the audience member seeking something like an innovative mail-order spouse, no graphic sex story.
I await the next book.
Each book, and series in total, becomes more Evanglical as it progresses. As a person to whom that has little appeal, I just fast forward those bits and enjoy the rest.
Audiobooks are well done and author narrated. I would offer the author these tips to rise to the next level: 1) plan your breathing and pacing to provide variance and meaning; 2) develop a lower pitch male voice to use exclusively when male characters speak; and, 3) project the appropriate emotion to a higher degree, i.e. fear, excitement, etc. Or at least those are my tips, as a retired communication professor.
A big thank you to this self-publishing, self-narrating author who has made the entire series available on the public library app HoopLa.
Misty's books always capture the reader's attention & are hard to put down. The h had a difficult father as her older sister was the "golden child" & did no wrong according to their father. She married a gambler & learned to not trust people. The H is the 2nd brother of the large family & his mistake from age 7 is brought often. As the h says when a hurt is picked at for years it never heals properly. Each bring understanding & protect the other. The h has a niece she has been searching for & conflict comes when the h wants to pull the 7 year old niece from the family she has bonded to. Doing the right thing is challenging at best & sometimes there are many ways to view things from different perspectives. Multiple characters grow over the course of the book into more mature people. Join the reading journey with Misty Beller as she writes with her heart.
Imagine trying to find someone when all you have is a first name, in a time when the only way to search was town by town. This is the task that Jonah has taken upon himself. Little Anna was found in a sad situation. Grandmother, very ill, has passed away and all the Coulter’s have is the name Aunt Patsy. How can Jonah possibly be successful?!
Patience came west to become a mail order bride, hoping that she would finally find real love and not abuse. However, that is not what the supposed groom had in mind. Managing to stay alive, Patience hopes to earn enough to get a home of her own. Will she finally turn to God for the love and the Father she yearns for?
An ARC of Brothers of Sapphire Ranch Book 5 was received through Misty M. Beller Books and BookFunnel. These thoughts are my own and were in no way solicited.
I really enjoy this series by Misty M. Beller. I love how each book is about a different character in the family and we get to see their struggles as they fall in love. I liked how this book was Jonah’s story and that we got to see him finally find someone who loved him for himself and who he could love wholeheartedly. I also liked seeing how the family loved him and saw some change in how they expressed it. I also like that they weren’t perfect since no one is. I also liked seeing how the relationship between Anna and Patsy grew as they got to know one another and experience grief together. I look forward to reading about the other brothers in future stories.
I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors. A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.
