As one of the twelve Guardians of the Realms, Urian has spent the last several centuries in a constant battle to keep the inhabitants of Earth’s Realms under control. Humanity needed to evolve, hell beasts needed to die, and Immortal races needed mates. Unfortunately, he found that he cared less about duty, and more about when his sexy voyeur would again grace the shadows to watch as he and his brother Guardian shared one of the human females frequenting the club. All Guardians were forbidden contact with the little goddess and her brothers, but his need for her was escalating. He found it more difficult than ever to keep from pinning her face down on the nearest surface, and making her his.

Alexandra and her brothers have avoided exile from the human Realm for centuries, ever since the Creators sent the Gods to sleep for their sins against humanity, and banished the Immortals. She has always known that she was needed on Earth. Only once had she gone against her instincts and the price she paid will forever haunt her. It is for that reason she forces herself to stay away from the only male that has ever truly enticed her. The only one that has ever made her flesh heat, and her stomach quiver with desire.

In desperate need to help her beloved brother, she will have to go to the enthralling Guardian, her dark obsession. He is her best hope to get the help she needs, even though he would surely attempt to exile her. She won't go easily…

Keep eating me up with those eyes, little goddess, and I'll be so deep inside that hot little pussy you won't remember what you came her for.

With a title and cover like that, you have to wonder how well a book will deliver on the erotic element that's promised. In the case of this book book, no worries are needed. Ecstasy Unbound starts out with a bang, and concludes with one too. I'm sure you get my drift here...

But dirty in the most delicious way, of course.

Being the first book in a series, it's always a concern for me if the world building and story will suck me in enough to keep me interested to continue with the series. In the case here, the answer would be a resounding HELL YES. Setta Jay takes a new and very interesting spin on the Greek gods lore. You get a little bit of everything, gods, demons, hell hounds, immortals. And while there is quite a bit of world building that takes place, it never got too wordy for me. It did take a while for me to wrap my head around all the different details and gain an understanding, but that's to be expected with the first book in a series.

If you're expecting a PNR novel with some steam, that's not quite what you'll get here. This is an EROTIC novel, and being that there are some HIGHLY erotic scenes; menage, voyeurism, the works. Which was right up my pervy little alley. I love me my smutty smut.

I do have to warn you that there is a that some may be uncomfortable with. It was detailed and quite graphic, yet the way it was done left me unsure how I feel about it. I'm not sure how to best describe it, but while it was it wasn't a violent one.

There was the "mate" element that you get in most PNR books. But what I enjoyed here, is neither Alexandra nor Uri fight their connection. Setta managed to throw in some undeniable sexual tension, steam, and build a believable connection between two characters without settling for a case of insta love or an overly drawn out angsty "she may be my mate but I don't want her" situation.

There were several characters that were introduced, but it wasn't overwhelming or too wordy. It was just enough to give the reader a little crumb and leave you wanting to know more about them.

Of course this being a first in a series, it wasn't without a few kinks. (Pun intended)

But I digress...

So what didn't I like?

The overuse of words like ' liquid heat' and 'core'. I don't mind it a few times, but it does tend to grate on me when authors get too creative with the sex scene lingo. It's an erotic novel, 'pussy' will do 95% of the time.

The very graphic . It left me feeling confused. I seriously didn't know how to feel after reading it.

I'm still trying to figure out how I felt about it.

Other than that, I did enjoy this. I'm definitely hooked enough to continue with the series, especially with that little teaser in the end for Gregoire.

I'm also hoping to get more of Sam and Alexandra's brother, Erik in the next book too. Their story really tugged at my heart strings, and I'd love to see them get their HEA.

So if you're a fan of erotic PNR, with fantastic world building, sexy Guardian warriors, and enough action to keep you reading well into the night...then definitely give this book a try.

I'm already in pervy anticipation for the 2nd book. Fingers crossed it will be Gregoire's.

4 voyeuristic games stars

Uri and Alexandra were bound to come together, centuries of playing voyeuristic games that left a need that they will soon find out could only be filled or sated by one another. Being the first pair to ever go through a mating ceremony, it leaves too much unknown where the pasts are dark and the insecurities high. They need to let go and trust the bond they have and let fate guide them.

I began this series with book two, not really sure how I managed that, but in any event I did and it catapulted my obsession with this series. As I finished each book, it was never enough always wanting more. Usually I only look forward and move on, never looking back, but since I was jonesing for my next hit, I went back....all the way back to the very first Guardian mates, and I am beyond thrilled that I did because I totally enjoyed every bit of it. Even if I did know the outcome, I read it for the journey as there is always something unique in every book. Sexy and squee-worthy, a definite recommend for my friends who love a sexy-paranormal world as much as I do.

4 "Ecstasy Guaranteed" Stars

Ecstasy Unbound is a paranormal romance full of erotica, action, and romance. Setta Jay has created a magical world full of vampires, guardians, dragonesque creatures, and more unearthly beings! I thoroughly enjoyed every second that I spent exploring this world.

description

"The Creators had charged him and the eleven others with watching over and protecting the Four Realms of this world."

Uri is a Guardian and is charged with keeping the earth realm under control. He does that by hunting hell beasts and keeping humans in check. Uri has a big problem. He has been lusting after an Immortal named Alex.

"He wondered if it was the impossibility of the whole thing with his little Goddess that made it somehow hotter. The itch he had for her was a damned obsession."-Uri

Although they have never spoken, She has sought him out time after time in the various clubs he visits. Alex is a voyeur of sorts. She has no problem watching him. Although she wants to be with him, she is destined to stay away. If she were to ever approach a Guardian, she risks being banished from her home in the Human Realm.

Alex has many powers. She frequently transports herself into the minds of others who are in need. Alex and her two brothers are on a mission to help humans and keep them safe from the supernatural powers that surround them. When one of their "rescue missions" turns complicated, Alex knows she must risk banishment and approach Uri for help.

description

When Uri and Alex meet, they are instantly connected through the "mate bond". The passion is intense between the two. Alex and Uri together was simply amazing!

"What was happening to her? Breathe through it. She knew in some fundamental part of her being that she needed Uri, that he was the only one that could take the pain away."-Alex

description

What is refreshing in this read is that neither character fights their attraction to one another. They both come together beautifully and begin to forge an unbreakable relationship. All they have to do is merge their two families (Guardians and Immortals), help rescue a human girl (in dire need), and continue to keep the balance between the realms safe from turmoil. No problem! Right?

Overall, Esctasty Unbound was a solid 4 star read for me. Meaning, I enjoyed the read the entire time, I was invested in the characters and cared for their well being. There was quite a bit of information covered in this first book. At first, I felt quite overwhelmed however, I feel that Ms. Jay's smooth dialogue and constant reinforcement of the elements helped maintain a consistency in the read. I felt this was a unique paranormal romance because there were so many diverse creatures in this world.

description

"The races sought pleasure in any incarnation they desired."

In other reviews of this book, I read that there was a scene with . Although the scene was made reference too, the author opted to edit the book and she took the scene out completely. Frankly, I am glad that she did. I think there was enough going on to keep me at the edge of my seat as it was.

Before you pick up this book, I feel I should prepare you for the extra curricular "sexy scenes" featured in this read. There is quite a steamy scene at the beginning of the read and later towards the end of the book involving multiple players. To be fair, I am relatively new to the erotica romance genre. (I know this is shocking to some of you)! I found the first scene was quite erotic and properly set the mysterious/sexually charged tone of the book. In other words, things start right off the bat with a bang. However, for me, I didn't quite connect with the last scene because However, I feel like Ms. Jay was establishing the raw truths of Alex and Uri life in a different world. They would most definitely experience things that would be far from our norm.

description

The sexual element in this read was full of high octane. I definitely felt like it challenged my comfort zone regarding sex with multiple partners and people (menage trois). I can't say that it detracted my overall impression of the book but it certainly affected my overall feelings regarding the main characters simply because I just couldn't understand it. It was nice and steamy and yet, a different experience for me. Upon further research, I have discovered there will be more of this "sexual exploration" in the upcoming books in the series. Because I am completely invested in these characters, I am willing to go the distance and continue reading. If anything, this series will continue to challenge me. To that I say, bring it on!

I highly recommend this read to anyone who enjoys the paranormal romance genre. This book is definitely in a league of its own.

If I’d just followed the rules…

You live and learn and today I learnt that following the Romance Reader Holy Grail Rulebook, is essential to find true happiness in your reading experience.

I read out of order…dah dah dahhhhh

It’s OK, I managed to recover and move on, but it was touch and go for awhile there. I nearly didn’t finish Ecstasy Unbound and poor Setta Jay may have had a completely undeserved DNF on her hands. See, I’ve come to realise these books are released in a certain order for the flow to work (Duh!!!). If I had read Ecstasy Unbound first I would have read the opening chapters getting sucked into a world, devouring explanations and getting turned on by the little bits and pieces of kinky play. I actually spent the time going – “Ew, Gross, you’re watching him”…and…”Would you hurry up already, I know all of this.” It did clear up some issues I had with Ecstasy Claimed, and I did have some “Ah ha” moments when I actually understood things better. So in the end, after a rocky (self-inflicted) start, it all came good and I ended on a high.

Alex, a Goddess, has led a fairly lonely existence. She does have her brothers, but besides them, she has lived a lonely existence in the Earth Realm. She knows she has a purpose there, but it still doesn’t make it any easier. She doesn’t want to make fleeting attachments to humans because they die. She also has the unfortunate problem that whenever she’s in the mood for touchy feely action, her brothers come running. See, they are telepathically linked and for some ungodly (pun intended) reason her body sends out a shield to protect her whenever she’s in trouble or having an orgasm…AWKWARD!! Well it’s a little bit more involved than that but you get the drift.

Uri is an Immortal Guardian who needs sex to keep his strength up (love Paranormal Smut) and the humans give it to him whenever he wants it. He and his fellow Guardian Gregoire, know just the right “clubs” to go to and just have to walk in and they get swarmed by the ladies. There’s this one chick though, who likes to watch…so what’s a Guardian to do? Put on a show of course.

Low and behold the little pervy chick turns out to be his destined mate…AWKWARD!!

Do you know one of the things I love about Paranormal Smut? That the author can manipulate all the tricky, icky and sometimes painful stuff and make it all sweet, tasty and intense…I want a bit of that ;)

Ecstasy Unbound is full of action, adventure, suspense and smutty, smutty paranormal loving. This series is fun, sexy and enthralling. I can’t help but be addicted to it and have already lined up the next one.

I received a complimentary copy of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

There is a lot wrong with this book.

Info dumping is hard at work in the first 25%. And even with all the info that got dumped on me, I still have no idea about a lot of what happened in this. Weird words are thrown about constantly without any explanation, one hundred characters are introduced when they have little to no importance to the story and the lore is never fully explained. I guess I'm just meant to know what all the different races are, what they specialize in and where they come from?

There is point of view overload here. I'm all for having different points of view if it is beneficial to the telling of the story, but I found it incredibly lazy in this book. There was no reason that we needed Sam and Cyril's points of view.

Speaking of Sam - why the hell did we need her and Erik's story to be such a huge part of this? I felt it detracted from the story of Alex and Uri's blossoming relationship.

There was so much happening in this, so much noise, that I never really connected with the main characters. And the logistics of the sexy times were often confusing.

The editing was atrocious. Wrong words, missing words, wrong spelling. It's all here! This hampered my reading experience.

The main question I am left with after reading this, is: why is Alex's vagina so sad? Why is is weeping? Is it in mourning? Does it have an STD? Uri's penis was also upset because his dick was weeping too. Dick and vagina weeping is not sexy, authors. Please. Stahp it.

If you like the Black Dagger Brotherhood books, you'll probably like this. It's basically the same as BDB, but with immortals and demi-gods. I don't particularly like the BDB series, which probably explains my lack of enthusiasm.

I doubt I will be continuing with this series.

RATING: 3.5-4 Scorching Hearts!! :D <3

Ecstasy Unbound is carnal and addicting. Setta Jay does a superb job of building a world that is in equal measure intriguing and seductive. The paranormal aspect is wonderfully balanced with the romance, which is a huge plus for me. We have immortals, Greek gods, hell hounds, demons, dragons, shifters. You name it, and its in this book. And best of all, it never gives off the feeling of being overly crowded.

The erotica...well...there’s menage, voyeurism, rough sex, and whole lot of delicious smut. My inner whore was all over this! Aside from that, the main characters, Uri and Alexandra were brilliant, staying true to their personalities and never getting sappy or fluffy with the typical “mate” element.

Overall, with a fabulous cast of secondary characters and some hot smexin, I really enjoyed this! Erotic PNR just got so much better! And now I am beyond excited for Gregoire’s story next!

Lastly, Uri:

For the last hundred years or so, Uri and Alex have been playing a game with each other. While she watches from the shadows, he tantalizes and teases her with what he does to women. The only one he truly wants is her, but she's forbidden. All he wants is to get to her (and her him), but they keep playing the game. However, they reach a stalemate when Alex's brother is in trouble and she needs Uri's help. She finally goes to him. Touches him. And pretty soon they realize that they're mates and can't keep their hands off each other. It's hot, it's intense, and it's glorious!

Alex moved in a blur of motion at the breached tunnels hidden in Cyril’s stronghold. Uri found himself at once aroused, filled with pride, then fucking horrified at her recklessness. She launched, teleported, and snapped necks at a rate that should not have made him want to fuck her up against the nearest wall, but she was incredible.

I loved how much Alex and Uri liked and admired each other and didn't shy away from admitting it. I also loved how there was no fight against what they meant to each other. Although Alex doubted how long she could keep Uri to herself, he quickly put those doubts to rest. There was never a question to me how suited these two were and I'm so glad the author didn't add any unnecessary angst or drama. There was plenty of action scenes and they were incredible! And don't even get me started on how perfectly erotic this romance was.

I am so in love! I can't wait to dive into the next Guardians of the Realms book (Gregoire is next)!

FOUR STARS TO FOUR AND A HALF STARS!

When I first heard about this series, I was told that ice was sorely needed for inflamed ovaries. Being the natural doubter that I am, I scoffed at all the warnings and dived head first into the first official book, having teased myself with the novella and lulling myself into a false sense of security. Knowing what I now know, if I had a chance to do this all over again, I would definitely do this right here, straight at my ovaries.

I'm not even going to play like I can be sensible in writing a review for this so I'll leave you all with three reasons why you should read this book.

Reason #1: Female BAMF.

I will never ever get my fill of strong female characters, especially if they're total bad asses that will snap an enemy's neck to keep their strong hand, well, strong. Alexandra is definitely no stranger to the term BAMF, not only in terms of her own supernatural abilities, but also her fighting capabilities. Reading about her in action is such a marvellous thing, and I was so overjoyed to see that she can more than hold her own with the guys.

Reason #2: The struggle is real.
Let me warn you of the fact that there be some straight up crazy mofos up in hurr. There are some confronting scenes to contend with and they are not pretty. But as weird as this may sound, it added to my enjoyment because its real. The book doesn't pull it's punches with any of the bad stuff going on so that I found myself emotionally invested in the characters. It certainly made for a deeper connection, which allowed me to fully immerse myself in the world that Setta Jay was creating.

Reason #3: Dat dirty talk.

And while I'm at it, lemme just mention that kinky kinks are hella kinky. Usually I like to be wined and dined before the kinks are sprung on me but with this book, I was so onboard with all the action, I found myself bloody steering the whole damn ship.

If you've reached this far and are still not convinced that you should read this book, then I can hardly fault you for your reasoning. After all, I did warn you that this review would hardly be sensible. Therefore, have yourself a coherent review by a mate of mine who convinced me to read this series.

As for me, I'm still icing my ovaries as I gobbled up all four and a half books of the series (so far) in one go. Be warned: another insensible review ahead!

http://bookslifewine.com/r-ecstasy-un...

I am not sure how I feel about this book - even now. This book caused me quite a bit of RAGE.

The prologue was a bit confusing - there was a huge info dumping session that almost left me reeling. We have the Greek pantheon (again. Why is everyone so obsessed with the Greek Pantheon????! Why not some Egyptian gods? Or Asian? Or something.) but instead of being up to their usual tricks almost all of them became tainted with some unexplained dark energy. They became stronger and cruel(er) and torturous. The tainted gods kidnap and perform experiments on the untainted gods and the Guardians - creating shapeshifters! Etc. etc. etc. The Guardians manage to get back an additional set of gods - the Creators - who puts the pantheon to sleep and leaves the Guardians over the world/alternates and disappears to never be seen again.

Now page 2. Lol

But seriously. We go from all of that to Urian - Uri - who is going out with his friend to a sex club. Uri and his friend often goes to these sex clubs to have public anonymous sex with humans.

Humans gave them plenty of room, compressing their much smaller bodies back into the crowds as the two made their way past. Moving through the throng, they gained sultry looks from scantily clad females, those that thrilled at the aura of danger that came from their sheer size. Having no idea just how much more beast than man the two were. That was part of the draw, the challenge of fucking more fragile beings without breaking them.

Ummm. GAG. Seriously. GAG. I officially disliked the hero at that point. Doubt that was what the author was going for but that was what happened.

There's also an additional layer of the sex club activities - Alex (the heroine) is often there (stalking Uri) watching him fuck the random nameless girl(s) of the night. He often stares into her eyes as he bangs out the random nameless chick(s). *gag* But Uri and Alex have never officially met nor spoken to each other. And this goes on for centuries. O_O

I need to make a side note about all the cursing. I curse. I curse a lot. But there are over 100 instances fuck/fucking, etc in this book. 43 instances of the word "pussy." It was a little distasteful in a really weird way for me. I mean, I'm the chick complaining of a lack of DP in my ménage books and here I am complaining about the word "fuck." That just shows how much fuck/ing was going on.

Pop Quiz: You've been lusting after a woman for centuries and there she stands before you. You've never had the chance to speak to her before. What are the first words you utter to this woman?

If you guessed "What are you doing here?" And “Keep eating me up with those eyes, little Goddess, and I’ll be so deep inside that hot little pussy you won’t remember what you came here for.” YOU WIN! *rolls eyes*

And let's not even get into what I've been calling Alex's magical chastity belt. And her centuries of lonely masturbation after being gang raped of her virginity. Uri is the first man to ever bring her pleasure. *gag* No. SERIOUSLY. GAG. WTF is the deal with the heroine having NO SEX (she literally CANNOT have sex) for her ENTIRE LIFE but gets to watch the hero bang random nameless chicks in public on a pretty regular basis. ffs.

And although we are told that Alex is a bad ass fighting goddess who has trained for centuries - she is weaker than...everyone. She has NO controls over her own powers - she's weaker than her two younger twin brothers and much MUCH weaker than Uri. But she is presented as a badass - a badass with major self confidence issues. Who can't have sex. Who can't protect herself. Who can't do anything, really.

And the RAPE. My God is there any reason for so much fucking rape????? Wait, that's not quite right. There's not just rape, there's consistent rape and humiliation of women. What in the fuck. I thought I was reading a romance.

There's...just so much WTF going on that I got burned out. There's rape, humiliation, biological experimentation, shifters, fated mates, Greek gods, kidnapping, ambushes, comas, menages (mating menages, of course) and so much sex that I started skipping it.

Finally, after several months of putting it off, I finally skimmed to the end. I tried my best to read to the end but I would feel anxious and upset every time I tried. I finally gave up and skimmed - it's the only thing that let me finish.

I knew going in that this book contained MFM and following a review that said there was one scene right in the beginning I thought, quite naively, that it wouldn't be between the main couple. And that first scene wasn't. Don't get me wrong I like reading ménage and MFM or MMF but I want all parties involved to be mated/love each other. But even though all the sex scenes were excruciatingly hot,
description
it annoyed me that there was a menage with the main couple and another male.
Why? Because Uri goes all possessive, growling "Mine", says this :

“Second, I agree to your terms that neither of us take other lovers. I find I am also feeling possessive tendencies I’ve never before experienced.”

And then a few pages later:

It’s tradition to have someone watch over our blood bonding, but, I also planned to have him assist in your pleasuring. I’ve seen your fantasies. Is that something you want to experience now?[...]”
Which she does.

And this, in my opinion kinda lame explanation:

Sirena and the others had explained over wine that things were a lot more… free here, than on Earth. In Tetartos, lives were long, and the populations were very small, as even mated pairs had few births. The races sought pleasure in any incarnation they desired. They had said that a wing of Drake’s Manor was dedicated to its pursuit. A wild carnal retreat.

So she's yours but you're willing to share her with your BFF because there's not many going about? I know it's a personal peeve and I know that most of you don't mind but it just grates me the wrong way when they share out of the mating bond.
For that matter I don't like it in contemporary romance either to be frank. If you don't mind and enjoy such scenes then definitely read this. Even though it bugged me I still enjoyed reading the scene, as I said before the sex in this book is seriously hot! It bears repeating!

description

The world building was excellent, the Realms, Guardians, Gods and Creators make for a very intriguing concept that I wanted to read more about. Setta Jay also uses some Greek words to name a few things which I got a kick out of. I still have questions though regarding several occurrences and I don't know if they'll get answered in the later books or left vague as past events.

Do I recommend it? If you don't have issues with the specific MFM like me then go for it! It's an excellent addition to the PNR genre.

It also contains something that could be a trigger for some but it's not mentioned in the footnote along with the menage. If you want to know

And I actually had already purchased this one. I'm funny.

This is going to be a great series. Uri is seriously smoking hot, and Alex is strong and doesn't really see all of her potential. They are amazing together. Plus Alex's brothers are hot and then there's all the other Guardians..I may melt.

This series is reminding me of series by Larissa Ione, Gena Showalter, and Elisabeth Naughton all of which I love. Gods, demi-gods, immortals, and a whole bunch of "other worldly" beings. Oh, and a little Jennifer Ashley shifters thrown into the mix. I'm so excited to read the next book that is a really yummy Gregoire (who we already got a glimpse of in a three-way).

Upon starting Ecstasy Unbound, I was immediately drawn into this world of Gods and Demi Gods. These Guardians of the Realms were a welcome return to PNR for me. I settled in and really sunk into this story. I want to start off in saying that overall, I really liked this and will continue reading. I am hooked on the plot and the ongoing storyline, and I can’t wait to see where this goes. The characters are great. It’s a good combo of sexy, sweet, fierce alphas and smart, courageous, beautiful women.

However, there were two specific things that happen that I will be taking half a star away for. You can read the blurb/write up to get the gist of the story, it says it all. What’s below is definitely spoilery, so read at your own risk.

Alrighty there it is. Don’t throw stones at me I still liked it overall and yes I will be reading the next book in this series Ecstasy Claimed coming in March.

Wow

When I first started this book, I actually thought it was a hardcore erotic book...but it was so much more. Not to say there weren't some intense sexual play, ménage...etc. but it also had a lot of suspense. I really loved the characters, especially Alex. She was a very strong female lead and I loved the deep pull and attraction between her and Uri.

I have to thank my Goodreads friend Pam, for introducing me to this series!

This is going on my favorites and re-reads lists. I thoroughly enjoyed the creativity of this paranormal story, the steamy hot love scenes and the possessive alpha men! I'm thrilled to know there are 7 more books in this series already published and waiting for me to read. The ending of book one is a prelude into book two and all I can say is wow! Loved it!

**** 4.5 SEXY MYTHOLOGICAL GODS STARS ****

This was delicious! I agree with some of the readers when they said the beginning was a little confusing. But don't give up... just follow the story and you'll get it eventually.

description

Alex is a demi-goddess that is helping the Guardians fight against evil. She's strong, powerful, and sexy. But she is also insecure with herself and feels like a failure.

"It was crazy to him that, while he was able to see all of her beauty, loyalty, and skill, she saw mostly inadequacy and weakness."

"She was exactly what a Goddess should be. He was sure he'd never encountered a more exceptional female in his long lifetime, and she was his."

description

Uri is a dominant immortal guardian that knows how to please a woman. He also has a soft heart, but doesn't let anyone see it.

"He was a Guardian: all-alpha, premium-grade male."

The relationship between Alex and Uri was animalistic. They were hungry for each other. Immortals cannot find mates easily so when one finds a mate, it is cherished like no other.

"I never though I'd be gifted a mate. But if you think to get away from me now, think again. And if you want me to show you just how 'mine' you are, I will gladly show you."

They wasted so much time. Alex and Uri were attracted to each other for centuries, but it was forbidden for Alex to be with Uri because it would banish her to a different realm. She just stalked him from afar, watching him take other lovers at sex clubs.

Uri enjoyed having the demi-goddess watching, but he was yearning for her. Each time he saw her, it was harder for him not to chase her. When they finally touched each other, it was like a bomb went off. They're love making was scorching hot from then on.

But the story isn't just about them. There is a war going on. So be ready for some good fighting scenes! I enjoyed reading about the moments where Alex was kicking ass. Although she is insecure about her powers, everyone can see that she is not to be messed with.

I can't wait to continue the series!!!

Warning: There is some rape. And there are some menage scenes.

This is a new series written by Setta Jay it's an Erotic PNR book and worth picking up, I really enjoyed this book.

As with all new series there has to be world building done, it's not my favourite part but is necessary, but the author adds in some hot sex to keep it fun.

Alex and her brothers live on earth and are Demi-gods and kick ass, literally they are highly skilled at helping others, which is good as the Guardians are unable to inflict pain on others, if they do they'll feel it a lot more.

Uri is a guardian, his a very sexual being as are all the guardians, his always felt the presence of another and relished it, even if while pleasuring another!

Circumstances happen, another person is kidnapped and due to complications Alex need Uri's help, what could possibly happen when they get near one another. You'll have to read to find out lol - I will say **HOT**

This book takes you on a sexual, sensual journey along with a lot of humour mixed into the characters banter, I laughed out loud quite a few times. I also have to mention Vane and Eric, Alex's brothers they have a really warm, caring relationship, did I mention there hot too!

Uri is an alpha male that likes to be in control, that doesn't change but he becomes a lot more when Alex enters his life, they both have a lot to learn and adjust to quickly.

If you are looking for an erotic paranormal read with lots of action of all sorts! this is a must read for you.

I'm really looking forward to book 2 in this series.

I'm awarding this book 4.5 vampy and racey stars.

** I received an arc of this book for an honest review**

For those that are sensitive to certain things, contains MFM, and anal play - well I said it was erotic.

ARC kindly provided by author via Netgalley for an honest review.

This is a paranormal erotica book and the author is focused on this two parts! The story is full of mythical creatures and fantasy. The plot is also good although kind of slow in the first 30%. On the other hand, the setting of this world had to be prepared and Ms. Jay tried her best to do so. The writing is ok and few time kind of repetitive. The book is written on third person and it's always clear for who the author writes about.

The main characters is Uri and Alexandra. Both of them are well developed and they are quite interesting all through the book. Alexandra has quite few insecurities but it's not so annoying.

On the erotica part, the book is quite intense and detailed. Maybe a bit too detailed.

The end felt kind of abrupt for me as I didn't understand what happened to the rest of the characters. There was an epilogue that was supposed to be a teaser but it just confused me. Overall the story had really a very good potential but I felt that the book could have been better.

Setta Jay… you dirty little bird you! I likey : )) What a fantastic start to what Im sure will be an amazing series. You know how you can tell you’re reading a fantasy? Its not the telekinesis or the transporting from realm to realm. Its not that there are Gods and Demi-Gods or mating frenzy’s or even hell hounds. Nope. How you can tell you’re reading a fantasy, is when a man tells you that he will financially support your shoe habit and he means it. I think I fell a little bit more in love with Uri when he agreed to this.

lick your face

Lets see if I can attempt to explain what the story is about. The Gods have really messed up the realms and were doing terrible things to other Immortals. So the “Creator” has charged 11 Guardians to watch over the realms while the Gods are punished and put to sleep until they’re needed again. This story is about Urian and Alexandra (Alex). These two have been eyefucking each other for centuries. Urian and his fellow Guardian and friend, Gregoire visit BDSM clubs and have sex with human females and sometimes Alex will show up and watch (Mmmm, delicious and hawt!).

Alex has “visions” or “mind hops” and tries to help this woman she knows has been kidnapped and is currently being tortured. Well, then shit start to happen and that’s all I can really say without giving anything away.

This book has a good story, very dirty and delicious sex, hot hunky men with HUGE members, sexy, strong and smart women, Immortals with some mythology background and light BDSM undertones. From the prologue I was hooked. I had very clear visuals in my head on how the world/realm looked. Then right off the bat we’re treated to an awesome kinky sex scene in the club! Oh my sweet perverted little mind… it was really good. Bravo Setta Jay, Bravo!

kitty spank

Now for some of the things that I didnt like. There is a huge cast of characters and a lot of confusing names and places. It was difficult to keep everyone straight. It would have made it a lot easier to keep track if there was a glossary of terms, names of people and places and what their job/duty/rank/race and realm is. Also I got really tired of hearing how tall all the men were. It was nice, but not necessary.

Overall I flippin loved this book! The sex is super charged hot, the characters are well developed, the story line is unique and interesting and it has a little humor thrown in. I had a couple of laugh out loud moments and I love it when that happens. When Alex and Uri first get together you can almost feel the sexual need pouring out of the pages. I do need to warn you about a rape scene that some people may have a hard time with. However, the way it played out sort of left me conflicted on my feelings about it. You just have read it to understand what Im talking about because I sort of enjoyed it, but I didn’t at the same time. Uri’s fellow Guardian, Gregoire is someone I cant wait to read more about. His “member” is described to favor his equine half *waggles eyebrows* and I want to ride him like a rodeo queen. I can not wait to read his book!! Im also extremely interested in finding out what happens to Erik and Sam.

Gregoire... I have one thing to say to you and your huge member!
lets bang

Some of my favorite quotes:
“That’s it Vane!!!! The next time you take my straightener, I’m going to plug it in and attach it to your balls.”

“Keep eating me up with those eyes, little goddess, and Ill be so deep inside that hot little pussy you wont remember what you came here for.”

“I plan to bury every inch of my cock inside all that wet heat.”

NOTE - 2023: Ecstasy Unbound was massively re-edited in 2017 where graphic trigger items were removed and the story was reworked. Then we went back in to do an extensive re-edit in 2023 to smooth out worldbuilding throughout the first three books in the series to prepare for audiobook production. Any graphic trigger content would be in older, out of print, editions. You should be able to update your version within Amazon if you have one of the old copies. The only current trigger warnings are mentions of off page SA. Please let me know if you find other things that should be noted as warning so we can update it here and on the website. Thank you. xx

Wow. I love it when I come across a book that has good reviews and an interesting blurb and it turns out to all be true! This book was fabulous! An intriguing storyline and twist on old mythology, which I love, and great writing. The characters were captivating and the sex... Holy Hellhound Batman was it HOT! I didn't want to put it down! I was drawn in from page one until the last word, which made me sad cuz it was over. There were a bevy of characters introduced and I must admit that there were a few times I got a little confused due to so many things happening, but as I kept reading it cleared itself up. I have a list of Guardians I am hoping will get books too! ;) I can't wait to continue with this series and see what happens next.

Page scorching, Ecstasy Unbound is a power packed erotic paranormal romance.

Gods, demigods, and all those supernatural creatures in between fill a cast of this action intense plot. Speaking of plots, there is a very strong plot, lots of world building and enough heat to burn the pages right out of your hands, Setta Jay has created the perfect balance of storytelling and erotica.

No gentle romance here, the content is adult only and graphic.

An explosive erotic paranormal romance that simply sizzles!

Note: *for the adult reader/ over 18* this sinfully seductive and deliciously dark novel, is an electrifying first instalment within an exciting new series. As an avid reader of paranormal/ supernatural suspense genres my expectations were high, upon encountering ‘Ecstasy Unbound’ with its striking cover. Wonderfully dark and definitely ‘my guilty pleasure’, unlike other works of erotic paranormal this tale oozed originality and imaginative concepts. Amid the detailed, interwoven plot is a spectacular blend of fantasy and romance that’s an addictive combination designed to grab your attention. Fans of both erotica and paranormal (i.e. Charlaine Harris, Fifty Shades etc.) will find Guardians of the realms steamy and smouldering!

Book1: Ecstasy Unbound follows one of the 12 guardians, Urian who is at the heart of a battle that spans across the ages between immortal beings and humanity. The inhabitants of Earth’s realms are constantly clashing, as the human race evolves and immortal races seek out mates.
Urian is drawn to Alexandra; the forbidden seductress. She and her brothers have evaded exile from the human realm for centuries, ever since the Creators sent the Gods to sleep for their sins against humanity, and banished the Immortals. Yet, Urian is so enticing that her heated flesh and quivering stomach always seem to pull her to him…and she weakly yields to her desires.

The enthralling guardian, her dark obsession is the only hope she has to help her brother – knowing that he can also exile her!

Setta Jay’s profoundly evocative, intoxicating novel is highly readable and an enthralling. The main characters intimate connection is so deep that sparks fly from the pages and have you intently glued to the storyline. This convincing read contains adult sexual content, that’s explicit and quite graphic in places and so is not suitable for the younger reader. I am most impressed by this sensational story with such premise, and so cannot wait to read the next instalment within this new series.

* I would like to thank the author for providing me with an e-copy of her novel, for review purposes *

This eARC was kindly provided by the publisher via Netgalley. All comments, reviews, & ratings are my own.

High-level plot:
In a world where a centuries old battle wages right under the Earth realm inhabitants' noses the stakes are always high for the 12 guardians charged with humanities safety. Immortals have been banned from the Earth realm & it's the guardian's job to enforce this. However, Urian 1 of the 12 guardians has a different high stakes game consuming his attention, one starring the goddess Alexandra. Alex & Uri have played a secret sex game for centuries. Unfortunately for the goddess Alexandra losing the game has dire consequences.
Characters:
Alexandra had some serious self doubt & Uri could come off as being unyielding.
Supporting Cast: Alexandra's twin brothers were my favorite. They came across as over protective, supportive, & caring. The guardians felt a bit unsubstantial & interchangeable. I had difficulties associating their names with their descriptions etc. The "bad" guy was traditional in that he was all bad.
Best scene: Lot's of sex in this book. One particular scene was incredibly visual & absolutely hot. (2nd sex encounter between the H/h) Uri can definitely f*ck the man worships every inch of Alexandra. Yum.
POV: multiple (3+) This could at times feel unnecessary.
Pet Peeves: Cliffhanger ending.
Rating: 2.5 stars
I'm going to continue the series only bc I've the full series in eArcs.

First Read: 10th July 2015 - 3 stars
Second Read: 21st January 2016 - 3.5 stars (rounded up to 4)

When the gods nearly destroyed humanity in their greed and madness the creators banished them from the human realm into Tetartos where they will sleep until they are needed once more as a punishment for their crimes. A band of twelve immortal warriors now guard the realms, they are in charge of keeping the gods out and protecting the humans from the demons that try to possess them. As demigods Alex and her brothers should have been banished with the rest of the gods but they have spent centuries hiding on earth and living peacefully amongst the mortals, they even help the guardians by fighting demons so they have a fragile truce between them. The demigods and guardians don't mix but the guardians won't try to banish them as long as they're helping and not causing trouble. Alex knows she should keep well away from Uriel, as a guardian he would be forced to send her to Tetartos if they ever get too close but she can't resist the attraction she feels for him and she has taken to spying on him in his most intimate moments. Uri knows he should walk away from Alex but she is a temptation unlike any other and one day he's not going to be able to resist.

As the first book in the Guardians of the Realms series Ecstasy Unbound has quite a lot of world building and I have to admit I found it a little confusing to keep track of at times. There are lots of different types of immortal guardians, who all have slightly different abilities and there are a lot of names to remember so I frequently found myself having to backtrack to make sure I had everything straight. This is a common problem with first books in a series though and I think it will get easier as we go on when everything starts to feel more familiar. Setta Jay has put her own spin on the greek mythology used here and I'm curious to see where things go with the sleeping gods in the future. This is an erotic series so there is a lot of sex, right from the very beginning, but you'll get no complaints from me on that score because it's undoubtedly hot!

Alex and Uriel have been fantasising about each other for centuries, they play a game where Alex spies on him when he is with other women but they've never come into close contact or acted on the attraction that they feel. Everything changes when Alex's brother is in trouble, Uri is the only person she can think of who might be able to help her and she will risk anything to help Eric. When they finally come into contact for the first time the chemistry between them roars to life, in fact, it's much more than mere lust between them as they discover they are mates. Not only are they trying to deal with their newly found mating bond but Uri has to try and convince the rest of the Guardians that Alex and her brothers shouldn't be banished to Tetartos and that they should instead work together to help Eric and rescue a woman who has been kidnapped by their enemy.

There is a lot going on in this story and more than enough action to keep me interested. I also really enjoyed seeing Alex and Uri deal with their new bond and an emotional connection that neither of them were expecting, physically they have no problems with their new situation but it's going to take some getting used to their new mental connection and having the freedom to actually be together. I did feel that the mating bond was a little overdone, it just sent them a little too crazy (especially Uri) and I think it could have been dialed back a little. The mating ceremony was undoubtedly hot but it just seemed a little out of character that the two of them had only recently had a conversation about being an exclusive couple and Uri had told her how possessive he was but then he was willing to invite a third party to join in the official ceremony joining them together. I would expect a moment like that to be something more private between the two of them and I'd have rather had the threesome at a different point in the story but that's down to personal taste I guess and it didn't stop my enjoyment of the rest of the book.

There were two other things that did bother me though, one was the rather explicit rape scene and the way we got so much detail of the torture that poor Sam and the other captive women were put through. I think a fade to black at certain points would have been much more appropriate - I'm happy to read sex scenes but I have NO interest in rape ones. The other thing that bothered me is a slight spoiler so I'm not going to go into detail but it was to do with the way everyone was pressuring Sam to help Eric so quickly after she had been rescued. I guess I'll have to see how that plays out in future instalments to see whether it resolves to my satisfaction but I felt extremely uncomfortable about the way things were being handled and felt that the added stress was the last thing Sam needed after everything she had been through.

Ecstasy Unbound wasn't perfect but it was a good start to the series and I am keen to find out where things go from here. I liked the banter between the Guardians and there are already a few characters I think I'm going to really love when we get to their stories.

FIVE Unbound Stars!

I'm so glad I decided to pick up this read. I'm a sucker PRN, a sucker for erotica and definitely the sexual tension and mystery of everything. And this amazing book had it all!

I love how the author didn't overshadow the main characters, yet still gave enough information on the others for me to get a feel and some sort of understanding.

Alex was really amazing. I love how delicate and innocent she was yet her actions contradicts those perfectly. Her past was harsh, and I completely understand (and love) how protective her brothers are. That same protectiveness had her venturing into the nigh clubs where she'd find herself playing a game of looking but not touching with the sexy, filthy mouth dominant-fuck-me-until-I-forget-my-name, Uri. It was hot, I was hot, the damn place got hot and when my device died I swear I was in an alternate world of torture!

When the rules were broken...

Keep eating me up with those eyes, little goddess, and I'll be so deep inside that hot little pussy you won't remember what you came her for

Uri had a way with words gosh dangit. I swore every time that guy opened his dirty fuck-me mouth, or gave one of those looks I had to regroup and prepare myself before continuing. There wasn't a time my concentration was broken when I really got into this book. I ignored texts, calls, shouts - I was fucking lost in this read and I have Uri to thank! He is so amazing and... Damn - Idk. I really love this book.

I love him

The Mating Frenzy had me so confuse before it was known. Like the whole build up, the frenzy and the craving that became so painful? The separation and then the union in the cell?

Tell me there's someone like Uri out there?! I have to find him because I'd turn our union into a fucking frenzy! lol.

The other parts of the book, the mystery with the labs and experiments were really intriguing.

Alex's brother are amazing. I fell in love with Erik and I'm left wanting find out what's gonna happen to him and Sam. I don't like how things ended, but luckily I can flip that cliffhanger off because I don't have to wait :P

Oh P.S - That three-some *__*

The only thing I didn't like was the constant use of bitch. I mean the Elizabeth woman was def a bitch, and the other bad people but yeah. It kind of irked me. Would have liked some more creative words :D

Other than that.

I fucking LOVE this book!!

An interesting twist on the fate of the Greek Gods/Goddesses, I really enjoyed the world building in this book. Given that this is a first book in a series there is a lot of information to take in but I found it all interesting and didn't find it overwhelming.

The H/h in this book are Uri a Guardian and Alex a demi-goddess and the scenes between the two were definitely steamy but there was so much happening that not enough time was spent focussing on their relationship IMHO. There are 12 Guardians in all and I'm guessing the rest of the series will see them all finding their mates. Overall, it was a fast paced read and I am definitely going to be reading more of this series to find out what happens next.

4 “My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard” Stars.

This is a fantastic read admittedly I did have some issues with it throughout the book but once I got into it I loved every moment.

I’d settled into the read truly at around the 50% mark. This series has a lot of potential that I can’t wait to read the next book. To see where it goes from here. The world building is astonishing and unique but it took time to adjust to the characters, plot and writing. The beginning of the book is soooo steamy and starts off with the tingles.

Moving on to the plot.

The Guardians protect the four realms sent by the Creators after putting the Gods too sleep. They have been on earth for thousands of years. They are getting wary of it all. But continue to do what they can. They all have a mate but haven’t had the joy of meeting that person yet. That all changes with the couple here.

Alexandra & Uri are a fantastic couple. The banter they have the build-up of over a hundred years and without realizing that they are mates. The mating frenzy kicks in they need to bond asap. I loved both equally which rarely happens in a book for me.

The downside of this book was that I sometimes felt that it was too fast paced and that there were time jumps where I felt as if I had missed out on some things.

There was also that one situation as mates at the end where the Hero fulfills her every fantasy for one night and I was hoping they weren’t going to go there (not that I have a problem with MFM quite the opposite and here I would have been pissed.

All in all a read that I would recommend and a reread as well.

P.S. You got to love KU!

There was a time when I was really hooked to paranormal romance books. I was so into them and when I read this one, it blew me.
It has suspense, intensity, hot dominant males, sassy heroines, action and so so hot sex scenes.
If that’s your scene, check this series out.
I’m definitely going back to reading these. 😍

Title: Ecstasy Unbound
Series: (The Guardians of the Realms, #1—but can be read as a standalone)
Author: Setta Jay
Genre: PNR
Rating: 3.5/4-Stars
Cliffhanger:
HEA:

description

"The impossible is possible. Creatures of myth exist, but are not the same."

Ecstasy Unbound is a book about a world within our own—filled with paranormal creatures (vampires, guardians, dragons, shifters, etc.), heart-pumping action and romance, and most of all...each page of the book drips with eroticism.

Seriously. This book is hot, hot, HOT. The sexual tension has been building between the two main characters—Uri and Alex—for decades, and you really feel it. Like, realllllllllly. I mean, the book even came with a warning label: "Warning: This book contains explicit and sizzling sex scenes with big dominant males. MFM, ménage, and light bondage."

"I'm going to lick all the way inside your hot little cunt until you're clenching around my tongue. Then, I will flip you onto your stomach and take you so deep and hard you will scream and beg for more."

As a Guardian, Uri is charged (along with eleven others) to watch and protect the Four Realms of the world. Alex is a Demi-Goddess who hides on Earth along with her her twin brothers. And from page one, you're thrust into their dark, sensual world.

"He enjoyed doling out some pain for his pleasure."

For years, Alex and Uri have played a forbidden game of voyeurism; she watches from the shadows of sex clubs as he and his brother fuck moral women. Neither of them know why they're drawn to one another. What they do know, though, is that they must keep their distance—otherwise Uri will be forced to exile Alex from Earth.

"He wondered if it was the impossibility of the whole thing with his little Goddess that made it somehow hotter. The itch he had for her was a damned obsession."

But when Alex's brother is in danger, she has no choice but to turn to Uri—so they finally, after years of wanting, get to meet each other. To smell, to kiss, to touch one another. And there world changes—forever, there fates entwined...even as outside forces threaten their lives.

"The male needed to come with a warning label; he was freaking lethal in more ways than one."

Overall, I thought this book was good. It kind of reminded me of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by JR Ward.

The world was build excellently, with a solid foundation, and the characters were intriguing and likeable. Although I did have a few qualms and there may be a few triggers for some people:

That made me a wee bit uncomfortable, and I didn't really know what to think of it.

Also, there is a few scenes of m/f/m sex—which is fine, hot even (though I don't care for it too much when the H has sex with OW). But that wasn't the problem, it was actually

Even taking what I like and didn't like into account, I still felt like this book was a 3.5/4-Star read and would recommend it for a reader who loves erotic PNR.

*PS: I was given an ARC of this book from NetGalley. But I do solemnly swear that I am up to...good on Goodreads. ;) This is a fair and honest review of this book. Pinky promise.*

Ecstasy Unbound is the first book in the Guardians of the Realms book and I admit I struggled with it a bit. Mostly because the world building was confusing to me and I read a lot of PNR/fantasy. I knew going in that this was an erotic book so I expected lots of sex and there was a lot of sex and the scenes were well written. There was also enough plot to go along with all the sex but the world building just wasn't clear. I felt like I jumped into a book where the world had already been described (maybe a spin off) but it isn't as far as I can tell.

The intro to the book is a large monologue that lays out what has happened in the world but it didn't really lay out a lot of the rules/characters. So while I had an overall general idea of the past it didn't help me figure out who could do what and what they were trying to do. The Guardians are immortals who are charged with protecting the four realms. Our hero is one of the guardians and has special powers (although I'm still not sure what all of his powers are - other than telepathy and teleportation. He can also get into people's minds and for humans he can change their memories). I think each Guardian might have different abilities although I think they can all use telepathy and teleportation. It was hard to keep track of which gods were evil and which were good. Apparently, 3 were good and 3 were evil but I don't know where the gods fell into play. The Immortals were all banned to another world except the guardians (except the heroine and her brothers). However, even though they were working to help the guardians and "were important to the earth realm" and cousins to some of the guardians if they actually had contact with a guardian then the guardian would have to ban them to the immortal realm. (I have no idea why The guardians think they are useful on Earth so not sure why they must be banned.

The book starts in a sex club and it takes awhile before we find out who the heroine is and a few more chapters before they meet. The hero has lots of sex with other women before he physically interacts with the heroine (he thinks she likes to watch him with other women). Apparently, the guardians need sex to stay healthy but that it never clear and only barely mentioned because they also have to replenish their energy through the earth I think?

The heroine is a strange mix of tough and brave and insecure. I liked Alex but I still don't really understand why her attack when she was younger was in any way her fault - yet it is referred to that way several times. If rape makes you uncomfortable tread lightly. It happens to a lot of the characters in this book although we are just told that it happened or is happening and the scenes are not detailed. The "romance" between Uri and Alex was very quick since they were fated mates and feel into a mating frenzy. They did take the opportunity to find out more about each other and talk through some compromises about being in a relationship with each other. So while overall, the romance was mostly sex it had more substance then just fated mates who had a lot of sex.

The enemies in this book have a plan and know what they are trying to do. Although I'm completely at a loss as to what their powers are and why they can't leave the immortal realm . The guardians on the other hand seem to have no clue what the bad guys are up to and even really who they all are. It's been centuries but they seem kind of clueless when it comes to investigating the villains.

I liked some of the secondary characters (a few were really laid out well but a lot of them were just mentioned and we didn't get to know them at all). I loved Havoc, the hellhound and every scene he was in! The author did a really good job laying out a couple of upcoming stories for the next book(s) that sound interesting.

So overall, I did like the book I just wanted the world building to be clearer or at least the rules of the world. I also wanted a better understanding of what the characters could and couldn't do along with why. I don't mind suspending my belief but I have to know more to be able to do that.

If you don't care why/or who can do what but want a book with lots of hot sex scenes and action then this is a great book. If you expect more from your world building you might be disappointed. Still, I will read the 2nd book and hope it gets clearer because I'm not ready to give up on this series it has a lot of potential.
