Ellie's Window - Surrender

Rate this book
Few of us ever see ourselves the way we really are.

And Ellie Mae felt unremarkable in shadows of her legendary family whose accomplishments filled the pages of Dover's history. But she was happy in her safe little world on Bowers Beach where the waves that lapped on the shore were not only predictable, but inviting. Beyond the horizon of the bay she imagined them all waiting for her; her mother, her father, her grandmother and the husband she lost too soon. But then there was Charlie, her tall, beautiful and talented daughter who required more prayer than she wanted or thought she needed. Charlie was remarkable - at least in her own eyes. But when she finds the woman she loved out of duty rather than devotion, caught in the clutches of early onset Alzheimer's, Charlie discovers the mother she had forgotten while trying to prove her own independence. The mother whose music was kept hidden in a red satin box, the mother whose thoughts and prayers were preserved between the covers of countless journals, and the mother who somehow knew what happened on November 16th. 1999.

Still Waters seemed to be the perfect place for Ellie. It was warm, friendly, and well equipped to deal with her condition. In the expansive sitting room was a beautiful window overlooking a lake where Ellie could sit and feel near to the comforts of home. And it is there, through that window, where Ellie discovers the remarkable work of God's design revealing the woman who is seen through the eyes of Eternity. And in her journey Charlie finds the freedom of coming home.

And so here I am, an author! My mother always said I could do anything I put my mind to! She was right. Thank you Mom. I grew up in a crazy Italian/Greek family in Chicago. My blonde hair comes from Loreal. The antics of my family caused me to become a contemplator turned talker turned writer with a passion for words that matter. My first published book, Called to Rebellion - the Key to a Single Hearted Love for Christ, taught me how to stay with a subject until the last word was written. I have a peculiar love for last words - they're the finishers of thoughts. I look forward to many more last words and sharing them all with you!
