Practical Communications Guidance from a Pro Who Has Seen It All

This book will provide you all the tools you need to recognize a crisis as it emergences and ensure that your organization responds in the best way possible. Drawing from the breadth of her experiences that include being in the Pentagon on 9/11 to tours in Afghanistan and Korea and everywhere in between, Ms. Billings lays out practical steps for preparing leadership to respond quickly to gain control of the narrative. She is uniquely qualified to provide this advice because she has lived it…often being where the communications challenges are the hardest.

She provides detailed guidance on how to provide media training, how to build an effective team, and how to build the relationships you will need….among other things. Her experience in the political real in Kentucky is also quite interesting as she helped senators navigate social media hacks and hot button cultural battles. The book also contains fascinating case studies throughout on some of the most interesting crisis communication challenges of recent memory.

Bottom line: This is a fantastic tool both for communications professionals, but also industry executives who will usually be the communicators during a crisis.
