My first thought after finishing the book was "Damn! Wtf did I just read!" This is the "It" book.
This story follows Alex McCandless and Grace Hopper who have 50 hrs to save the world from destroying itself.
Alex is a brilliant mind with very sharp memory, and he's a hacker. The best we can say. But he's not the normal type who sits in a dark room writing codes for hours. He do that too, but more than that he loves on site performance. Hacking is a performance and the world is a stage.
Grace is a PhD student in Turing Institute and great at finding information about anything.
The story travels from Silicon Valley to Mumbai, from The Turing Institute of Advanced Science to Taj Mahal Palace Hotel. It runs from hacking to talking about Kalki Avatar (10th and final incarnation of Lord Vishnu)
Just imagine the world, where you are fighting against the whole world in order to save the world. Your enemy is ever present and knows your every move, and has the power to remove your every last detail or information from the earth. A clean swipe. It would be like you never existed in the first place. You'll have no identity left. How will you defeat the enemy? You'll use the Kill Switch!! But the journey wouldn't be easy.
The author has done a great job in creating a gripping narrative. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. The book runs at a breakneck speed, but it doesn't seem rushed in any way. The story shows us the mirror with future glimpse, about what technology can achieve if it's given full power. It will be as good as it would be evil. The thing that has helped make our lives easy is the same which holds the power to destroy it too.
People in tech industry and those who love computers and coding will definitely love this book.

My thoughts 💭
This is my first science fiction book and to be honest, it took me a while to get into the story but once I was in the 2nd half of the book, I didn’t keep it down, I was hooked and in my head, it felt like I'm watching a thriller film where the two amazing characters were trying to hard to save the attack to happen, the action and oh god, don’t get me started with the incredible plots the author has written. Like at one moment, I was like oh yeah and the moment I was like- Whattt did just happen? The way I kept turning the pages to know what’s more, the more I was lost I’m the story. The one thing I loved about the book is- that the characters aren’t any Marvel superheroes trying to save the world but actual human beings who have their own traumatic past & flaws. At moments, I cried too when Alex took you along with his past, & moments where I felt connected to grace. Also, this book isn’t just fictional but tells us the cons about how the future is gonna completely depend on technology & its destructions.
Do I recommend it? Helll yesss! If you’re looking for a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat, make your mind blow up with amazing plots, and an amazing story. The book is written in easily understandable language, and at an amazing pace & Mark my words, you won’t regret the thrilling movie-like experience in the second half of the book.
Add this book to your TBR list by the amazing author, Yogesh Pandey.
Till then, in his words, See you when the curtains are up again ⏳
4.5⭐/5 The Kill Switch by Yogesh Pandey is heart pounding thriller which takes reader on a journey of a digital apocalypse where every device becomes a potential weapon and the fate of civilization hangs in balance. It was unique and fun read for me. It kept me interested until the end..The story is engaging and well written. This story that explores the dangers that arise when technology falls into the wrong hands kept me on edge of my seat until the final conclusion. The characters Grace and Alex both are kind of genius person and other main characters were also amazing.
I'd recommend you to read this book in one go and you'll surely enjoy it especially if you're from computer science background (that's why I enjoyed it much more). Get ready to unlock new fascinating internet and hacking terminologies. This book is worth reading.
Review copy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
✨ It was indeed a heart pounding thriller, and it kept me on edge till the last minute. Absolutely loved the characters (or most of em) and the way the narrative was structured.
✨We get to see glimpses of the past from every character's life and it showcases how they've been shaped today. Their decisions and ideals of now are completely based on their past traumatic experiences.
✨ The author has dedicated this book to his father and it clearly shows in the narrative as the paternal bond is explored in a variety of ways.
✨ The characters are extremely well crafted as they're complex and unique. You need to peel off their layers to see the true nature of em. On one hand, we have Alex who seems pretty much a recluse and he doesn't open up to people, but he really cares about others and is unable to express his emotions cuz of his trauma. On the other hand, we have Anthony who poses as the greatest saviour of mankind but has completely derailed from his true path.
✨ I cannot express how much I adored the writing style of the author. He has masterfully weaved the aspects of mythology and technology together, and I was amazed when the connection between Darwin's theory and Hindu mythology was introduced🤯 Also there's a lot of technical jargon but the author explains it in simple terms throughout the book. The interview with Anthony seemed to be a clever idea to explain the concepts in layman's terms.
✨ Overall, I'd highly recommend this book for my fellow thriller lovers who also like a touch of sci-fi in their books.
-Dark Edgy Electrifying- Review of The Kill Switch’ by Yogesh Pandey 🖋️📖 What do you get when you throw a scholar with a sordid past and a hacker who can scale walls like Jason Bourne? An edge of the seat thriller is what you get.
The Kill Switch by Yogesh Pandey is a slick thriller that runs at a breakneck pace, spanning continents and cities, shuttling between Silicon Valley and RAW wing Mumbai, encountering a bevy of quirky characters a handful of which are CEOs and high profile cops.
When Grace Hopper, who in her own words, is a drunk (now sober) and a recovered drug addict goes to Turing Institute for a position under Dr Marc Rauschenberg, she is acoosted by Alex, who’s an Indian dressed in a black hoody, shorts and flip flops. He insisted Grace tells Dr Marc the truth about the gap years on her CV, which she wasn’t going to initially but ends up doing on the pretext of getting selected. Blindsided by Alex, she stands rejected and again encounters Alex who now asks her to give interview to his boss Dr Peter Baggins (Lord of the rings, anyone?) as she is better off than working with Marc.
Soon after Grace is selected to work with Peter, she experiences a crazy ride with Peter and Alex where the latter takes down Stephen, CEO of Phoenix, a well respected investment firm. Alex steals the CEO’s passport from his office and then demonstrates how he did it. What follows next is a whirlwind of an adventure and thrill. The book has a flow that triggered a fast background score in my mind, the likes of which often seen in slick thrillers.
While hackers are often portrayed as loners, secluded in dimly lit rooms, their fingers rushing through the keyboards, as they try to crack their way into firewalls, our Alex isn't the kind of hacker who works sitting behind the desk. Absolutely not! He would jump off the walls, bribe the security, and impersonate the CEO if needed. He thinks of himself more as a detective than a white hat hacker.
Alex and Grace end up battling an enemy that is omnipresent, able to infiltrate every electronic device on the planet, peer through every CCTV camera, and command every intelligence agency worldwide. Will they be able to rein it in? Read your copy and find out. As the author writes, the curtains are up.
This book is a thrilling mix of cool technology and exciting action that grabs your attention and keeps you hooked from start to finish.
The book talks about how technology changes our lives, making us think about things like spying, freedom, and how strong we are in this computer time. It makes us question privacy, freedom, and how we handle tough situations in today's world.
The book also includes many references from Indian mythology, which I found fascinating. I was intrigued because I enjoy learning about myths. These references added extra excitement to the story, making it even more enjoyable for me to read and learn from.
The book describes the struggles of computer programmers and engineers as they try to stop a harmful computer demon. It highlights the challenges they face in stopping this digital threat, making it an exciting story about battling against technology gone awry.
This book is a must-read for those who enjoy thrilling adventures blending science fiction with espionage. It's perfect for anyone who loves exciting stories featuring futuristic technology and secret missions. If you're into that kind of excitement, this book is definitely worth your time.
"He connected the dots between the hack and A&D, described how he received an invitation to Anthony’s talk, revealed what kaX truly was, and explained Anthony’s plan that endangered the world." This novel is a sci fiction piece of work revolving around a very interesting subject. Grace, Alex, Peter , Anthony and few more play significant role here. The initial pages started with Grace moving around with her resume in search of job. But meets Alex and ends up in Peters office. Many engaging tracks come as we flip the pages. Also the concern of Peter when he knows about Alex going against powerful people. I also liked Linds- Peter plotline, how it effected there entire family. This book has technology, activities and also a lesson do not trust on anything that doesn't think himself. The story is quite persuasive and well communicated. Do invest time in this novel it's worth reading.
This book tells the tells the story of Alex and Grace fighting a super-smart enemy that can hack into every electronic device and control cameras all over the world. They have only fifty hours to stop a digital monster from taking over everything.
The author kept me hooked with a story that's fast-paced and full of suspense. Every second counts in their race against the digital threat. It's like a global chase, and you feel the tension as they try to save the world from a digital disaster.
Despite the cover not grabbing my attention initially, I'm thrilled that I went ahead and got "The Kill Switch." The blurb's promise of a thriller blending sci-fi and international intrigue intrigued me, and the book delivered on that promise. Sometimes, it's a good reminder not to judge a book solely by its cover.

It's a tale that stands out for painting a villain not of flesh and bone but of codes and pixels, making you question the very devices you hold dear.
Pandey's writing zips and zaps with electric fervour, a testament to his skill in marrying the complex with the captivating. His narrative is a high-speed chase through a landscape dotted with jargon, yet it feels like a joyride, thanks to his knack for making the technical tantalizing. Alex and Grace aren't your average keyboard warriors; they're fleshed-out figures with minds as nimble as their steadfast morals. Their evolution from digital denizens to humanity's last hope is a journey as compelling as the plot itself. Pandey's exploration of digital omnipotence versus human resilience weaves a complex tapestry of themes, challenging us to ponder our place in a world wired to the brink of wisdom and woe.
Pandey engineers a narrative that's as meticulously structured as the algorithms his protagonists battle. The story's tempo toggles between breakneck sprints and reflective pauses, with twists that ambush you like a rogue pop-up ad, keeping your finger perpetually swiping for more.
The true genius of "The Kill Switch" lies in its ability to hold up a mirror to our tech-tethered realities, exploring the shadows cast by our digital utopias. It's a narrative embroidered with themes of surveillance, freedom, and the quest for power, turning the novel into a cautionary tale that resonates with the urgency of a system alert.
This book will reboot your heart—expect to cheer, to fret, and to ponder deeply. The victories are sweet, the setbacks bitter, and the journey itself a reminder of the human spirit's indomitable code.
Pandey's world-building is immersive, his character arcs inspiring, and his plot a masterclass in suspense. The technological tapestry he weaves is not just believable but alarmingly plausible, a testament to his prowess as a storyteller. If there's a glitch, it's perhaps in wanting more insight into the digital demon's psyche—more bytes to its backstory, adding layers to its logic.
As a techno-thriller aficionado, "The Kill Switch" resonated with me on a binary level—its pulse-pounding plot and philosophical ponderings on technology's tendrils in our lives were both electrifying and enlightening.

Rejected by Dr. Marc, Grace finds herself drawn into the orbit of Dr. Peter Baggins, embarking on a tumultuous journey alongside Alex, who proves to be an unconventional hacker with a penchant for physical action over digital manipulation.

Author Yogesh Pandey's book, "The Kill Switch," is a complete page-turner and thriller that will take you on a journey to save the world from digital destruction.
The novel begins when Grace, a woman approaching her thirties, visits the Institute of Advanced Sciences in the city of Sirap for an interview. It is there that she meets Alex, an ethical hacker. Grace and Alex work under Professor Peter Baggins as a PhD student and research fellow, respectively.
Other characters introduced are Anthony and Daniel, who are tech billionaires. What would happen if Alex's system were to be breached one day? What would happen if you were to find out that a program is being run that can control all devices on Earth and harm humanity? Moreover, they only have 50 hours to stop it.
"Great minds need greater problems. Or they end up making one."
The narration has been done well. I liked how author Yogesh has made us aware of the past stories of Alex, Grace, Anthony, and Peter one by one. It was very clear. Peter's death was unexpected and emotional.
The second half of the novel is no less than watching a thrilling movie. There are elements of mythology and unexpected twists that kept me engaged in knowing what would happen next. The novel has been written in an easy-to-understand language.
Whether you have academic knowledge of computer science or you are an experienced professional in the field, or even if you simply enjoy reading thrilling sci-fi novels, you cannot miss this book.
It’s my first time reading a book by Yogesh Pandey. I was bit sceptical before beginning with it. But I must say it was a very good experience.
This book is about an ambitious project that is set out to change the world. Whether it will change the world for better or worse is for the reader to find out.
I was hooked to the book right from the initial pages. But as the book progressed I felt there was too much information overload or rather many technical terms.
I kept reading. And then there came a sudden turn where the story showed its link to mythological India. At this instance it got me back into the story.
The book became fast paced after that. And I loved every bit of it. It is an amazing sci-fi read.
I would recommend it to anyone who loves sci-fi. It’s a different perspective. You can really admire the author’s thought process as you read the book.
But the things that stopped it from becoming my 5⭐️ read are ——
