When a mystery bystander stops an assassination attempt on a prominent politician, it sparks a captivating national search.

Curtis is determined to find his brother, but equally, Curtis is no detective. A husband and lawyer (and not the 'good' kind), with a mortgage and responsibilities, Curtis isn’t cut out for delving into whatever seedy business Finn has gotten involved with. But when armed men turn up on his doorstep, claiming to be FBI, he quickly realises he's been left with no choice.
The hunt for the truth will take them from the Capitol in Washington to the sun-kissed beaches of Mexico to the cold streets of London, uncovering secrets of fraud, blackmail, and murder. Can the brothers reunite before the wrong people discover the true hero?

Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC!
Firstly, thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
I have been a long-term fan of this author and have read all his books so when I saw this one, I knew I had to grab it. Once again, I was not disappointed, Rob Sinclair really knows how to tell a story and I was hooked from page one and read the book in one sitting.
Curtis and Finn Delaney are brothers who have not seen each other in several years. While watching the news one day Curtis sees that there has been an assassination attempt on a politician but what is more surprising to Curtis is the unlikely hero that seems to save the politicians life, he is sure it is his brother Finn. Curtis sets out to find his brother of whom he holds grudges against due to past family issues. He engages with a private detective and her handler to do so as he knows that he will be unable to do this on his own, not in the circles his brother moves in. Soon Curtis finds himself being tracked by suspect FBI and Secret Service officers and believes Finn is involved with a very rich dodgy businessman. He is determined to find Finn and in doing so will have to risk his own life and put his marriage on the line.
This is a very fast paced book that is full of intrigue, tension and suspense that will have you turning the pages quicker than ever. Totally gripping and entertaining I cannot recommend the book highly enough and can’t wait for the next one, brilliant!
How would you feel if you spotted on the news your estranged sibling playing hero on CCTV footage? Shocked? Intrigued? Curtis was thinking WTH! He knows Finn, a selfish brother so the word hero is not in his DNA.
This leads Curtis on an unexpected path of playing detective and going on the run with a woman who has threatened him and also wants brother Finn found for a very different reason. Curtis is thrown into a world he didn’t know his brother lived.
Speaking of which, intermingled with Curtis’ story is that of Finn, of the events that happened the previous year leading up to the fateful day on Memorial Hill. The life Finn has been leading, one of which I’m not going to say much about #nospoilers. What I will say is as I switched between the two brothers’ timelines, my mind was racing to keep track of the whys and the wherefores, of Finn’s actions that sent Curtis along the journey he did.
Sinclair has written an intricate international action thriller where he sends his characters across the Atlantic in the hunt for a missing man. It’s got real pace to it which I expect having read a lot of Sinclair’s spy thrillers previously. But he’s upped the ante with Rogue Hero. The dual timeline adds a new dimension to his action thriller writing. Cracking standalone read from Rob Sinclair 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Rob Sinclair’s “Rogue Hero” is a gripping thriller that plunges readers into a world of intrigue, danger, and moral ambiguity. The novel begins with a dramatic assassination attempt on a prominent politician, which is thwarted by a mysterious bystander. This act of heroism sets off a chain of events that propels the story forward at a breakneck pace.
The protagonist, Curtis Delaney, is a corporate lawyer with a seemingly ordinary life. However, his world is turned upside down when he recognizes the mysterious hero on the news footage as his estranged brother, Finn. Curtis hasn’t seen Finn in six years and is unaware of his brother’s current circumstances. Despite his reservations, Curtis feels compelled to find Finn and uncover the truth behind his sudden reappearance.
Curtis’s journey takes him from the political heart of Washington, D.C., to the sun-drenched beaches of Mexico, and the cold, unforgiving streets of London. Along the way, he encounters a web of deceit involving fraud, blackmail, and murder. The narrative is fast-paced and filled with twists and turns that keep readers on the edge of their seats.
One of the strengths of “Rogue Hero” is its well-developed characters. Curtis Delaney is portrayed as a flawed yet relatable character. His internal struggles and moral dilemmas add depth to his persona, making him more than just a typical action hero. Finn, on the other hand, is shrouded in mystery. His motivations and actions are gradually revealed, adding layers of complexity to the story.
The supporting characters, including Alyssia, a woman searching for her sister, and Victor Travers, a ruthless corporate mogul, are equally compelling. Each character plays a crucial role in advancing the plot and adding richness to the narrative.
“Rogue Hero” explores themes of family, loyalty, and the blurred lines between right and wrong. Sinclair delves into the complexities of familial relationships, particularly the bond between Curtis and Finn. The novel also raises questions about the nature of heroism and the lengths one would go to protect loved ones. Sinclair’s writing style is engaging and immersive. He has a knack for creating vivid scenes and building tension. The dialogue is sharp and realistic, and the action sequences are well-executed.
The pacing of “Rogue Hero” is relentless. From the opening scene to the climactic finale, the story maintains a high level of suspense. The short chapters and multiple viewpoints add to the urgency, making it difficult to put the book down. Sinclair expertly weaves together various plot threads, ensuring that each twist and turn feels earned and contributes to the narrative.
To summarize “Rogue Hero” is a standout thriller that combines a compelling plot, well-drawn characters, and thought-provoking themes. Rob Sinclair has crafted a story that is both entertaining and emotionally resonant. Fans of authors like Lee Child and Robert Ludlum will find this novel to be very enjoyable. Whether you’re a seasoned thriller reader or new to the genre, “Rogue Hero” is a book that will keep you hooked from start to finish.
Well this was all things a bit convoluted and interconnected.. but, despite it being a bit over the top in places, it was jolly good fun! In a good way! So... we start with Curtis Delaney watching news footage of an assassination attempt on a politician. In it, he sees a "mystery bystander" play hero, saving the day before disappearing off. This incident sparks a hunt for the unidentified hero. Unidentified to all but Curtis though, as he clearly recognises his estranged brother Finn, despite not having any contact with him for six odd years. This causes him a bit of a dilemma as, the Finn he remembers is no hero. Which then leads Curtis to turn his back on his life - wife, job, friends - and, well, try and find Finn... Now this is the bit I struggled with. Curtis is a lawyer, and has his own dubious methods of doing things, taking shortcuts, all that stuff, but I can't quite understand his motivation for wanting to find his brother. Especially given what happened last time they met. Especially with what he was prepared to sacrifice to do so... But, in order to carry on, I just had to accept he knew why he was doing it, so I did and what happened next was fast paced, action packed, present linking with past, well plotted narrative which, once it got going, didn't let up until the very end. Which, I am happy to say, was worth the steps I took to get there! Yes, I might have other niggles about the implausibility of some of the things that happened in this book, but they aren't major and at least they were included to progress the plot and/or speak to character definition. To be honest though, I didn't really like Curtis, although I'm not sure I was supposed to, but in this genre book, it does help to have some affection for the main character. I didn't and it was OK but not brilliant. Aside from this book, this author is one of my favourites. His Enemy series was imply superb, as was the one it segued into, featuring James Ryker, and we also have Dani Stephens and the Sleeper books. All cracking reads which is why this one was a bit of a disappointment for me. Not quite hitting the mark, but at the same time, was my bar set too high...? My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.
Brothers Curtis and Finn are not exactly close. They have not spoken for several years. They are very different, one is reckless while the other is hard-working and focused. So when Curtis recognises his brother in a news story he is shocked to find he is being described as a hero. This is something he would never think of his brother as. So why did Finn stop an assassination attempt or is something else going on?
This is a brilliant book and it is a mix of mystery, murder, extortion, corruption and suspense, but at its heart is greed and power. When Curtis tries to find his brother her finds himself wandering into a world that he has no experience of. He is trying to be the good guy, follow the rules and leads, but this gets him nowhere. Finn, is ruthless, he is good at what he does but has he overstepped and underestimated?
This is a story that flits between the two brothers, Finn's story is in the past and the author gradually works through his timeline. Curtis's is the present and it follows his journey. It is only as Curtis starts digging he discovers what his brother is doing, is capable of and how much of an impact it will have on his own life.
The author has set a great pace for the book and his characters travel to various countries, one to set things up and the other to try to follow the clues. There is the constant hint of some ulterior motive but quite what this is and how it fits doesn't become apparent until a lot further in the book. In some ways, Curtis has to travel and experience things before he can try to get to his brother finally.
There are various characters, but not many so that you get jumbled, and it is ideal for this style of book, it is one where secrets and blackmail go hand-in-hand. The story had me wondering and at times I wasn't sure who was the "good guy", the author plants seeds of doubt, suspense and intrigue so kept me on my toes.
This is a fabulous book and one that is for those who like a slightly more complex cat-and-mouse type of crime mystery and thriller. It is dark and dangerous and I adored it. It is one I would definitely recommend.
If you like flawed characters, this book is for you. There is no shortage of unscrupulous scoundrels.
It is the story of two estranged brothers. Curtis is a lawyer. Finn is a conman. As the story unfolds, it becomes obvious that they are more alike than one might think.
Years after the brothers have a falling out following the death of their parents, Curtis spots Finn on the evening news.
A mysterious hero saves an upcoming politician from a gun attack in D.C. Authorities scramble to identify the hero. But there is no question in Curtis's mind who the hero is - and he's not so sure he is a hero.
Reacting in a rash way that stretches believability, Curtis casts his job and marriage aside and sets out to find Finn, believing he might be in serious trouble and need his help.
The deeper Curtis digs, the more danger he finds. The story races across the globe, hopping around to several locations in Europe, Mexico and even the state of Georgia. Evil billionaires and drug lords enter the picture.
At some point, one would think Curtis, a mild-mannered corporate attorney, would contact the cops and tell all that he knows, turning everything over to them. That would certainly be the logical move, because he is clearly out of his element, but then we wouldn't have a story, would we?
Curtis isn't the only character who behaves in interesting but illogical ways. The book is full of characters who make one poor decision after another. Greed, selfishness, jealousy and pure stupidity fuel the action.
All of the craziness and bad behavior comes to a head in the final third as the cast of unsavory characters clashes in a final confrontation.
You will be rooting for the bad guys to get their just deserts. But in this book, determining exactly who the bad guys, or bad gals, are may be no easy task.
An underlying theme is the idea that there is a little good and a little bad in each of us. The characters in this book support that conclusion.
The book also raises the age-old question of does the end justify the means?
There is no easy answer. Each reader will get to decide for themselves.
I’m a big fan of the authors work so was eager to get stuck into Rogue Hero.
The story starts of strong, setting the scene as a failed assassination attempt takes place.. but why did the hero run away? Who were they?
Curtis Delaney watches the footage as it hits the news and immediately knows who the hero is… it’s his brother Finn.
They might be brothers but it’s been 6 years since they last saw each other and they didn’t part on good terms.. but Curtis can’t help but want to help his brother out..
Here’s where things start to get juicy, the story switches focus between characters and we learn about Finn’s past.. it teases you in it’s build up.
We also see Curtis in the current day trying to balance his own work and life commitments with that of finding his brother.
What I really found interesting was the character development.. the focus shifts so neatly, the pace so good that you find it hard to really form the full picture of Curtis and Finn.. there’s so much going on.. its was a marvellously jam packed tale.. the brothers are more similar than you originally think.. both jealous and impetuous..its the perfect combo for a engrossing action thriller novel.
The devil is in the detail they say and Rob Sinclair knows how to write! When you are about 50% through.. while the waters are still unclear you start to see a shift..links.. but there’s more and more questions too.
It’s a complete mind f**k to pardon my language.. like its so unbelievably good but you just don’t see things coming.. like wow..there’s murder.. fraud.. blackmail.. but to what end? Oh Mr Sinclair.. you know how to hook me in don’t you ha ha.
I think the word to best highlight for this book is pace, in every aspect, the chapters flow well, not too long or short either.. each chapter designed just to give you enough to see the movement but not enough to give everything away too soon but at the same time nothing was drawn out or boring.. just a perfectly executed story that I reckon everyone will love!
This is by far the most engrossing tale from the author yet!
Rob Sinclair certainly knows how to write a riveting thriller as Rogue Hero demonstrates right to the very last line of the story. Beginning with an attempted shooting of a Congressman, Senator Charlton and ending with a question of morals, this is a very well thought out story tapping into the world of organised crime in the world of today. A mysterious gunman prevented the death of the Senator and Corporate Lawyer Curtis Delany has a gut instinct that the mysterious hero of the day is his estranged brother Finn; a man who seemed to walk on the boarders between right and wrong in the Corporate world of seriously big money. His gut instinct turns out to be real and Curtis, in spite of having a number of issues in his life that need to be dealt with, decides Finn, wherever he is and whatever mess he has become involved in, needs his help. This decision plunges him headlong into a world of subterfuge, ruthlessness, crooked dealings the highest of levels, Drug Cartels, and cold blooded murder, a world he feel ill-equipped to deal with. The plot is fast moving through the Corporate world, the world of high finance the background for the brutal, false but flamboyant life lead by Victor Travers, a man who had climbed the Corporate ladder with flair and ruthlessness. Curtis sets out to dig into what he sees is Corporate corruption at the highest levels, only to discover his brother Finn was working along similar lines, which sees Curtis facing some terrible decisions, having to trust a woman, Alyssia, he has met searching for her sister Mariana, Travers assistant of many, many years. A bloody disaster occurs when Finn makes the decision to expose Victor Travers for who he really is, which ends a terrifying shoot out with Curtis and Alyssia being arrested! Rogue Hero is a story that once began is very, very difficult to put down as the pace is fast, the action thrilling, with characters well described and defined. An excellent read.
An attack against a senator in Washington, D.C. is stopped by an anonymous bystander who vanishes as fast as he appeared. The nation wants to know who the hero is. In Atlanta, lawyer Curtis Delaney is home watching the replay of the hero in action. Curtis is stunned by what he sees. He recognizes the hero immediately. Curtis has not seen or heard from his brother in six years. Head swimming, the only thing Curtis is sure of is Finn is no hero. Motivated to find Finn, Curtis starts asking questions and soon realizes not all have his brother's best interest at heart.
Rob Sinclair is a fantastic author who doesn’t receive the praise he should. The standalone— Rogue Hero—might be my favorite work by him. The book has everything; billionaire assholes, cartel assholes, family assholes. A whose who of assholes. Family—along with love and all the emotions that come with it—runs throughout Rogue Hero. This undercurrent elevates Rogue Hero to a higher level. Where Rob Sinclair belongs. My one nitpick--while not germane to the ending--I would have liked to have a few plot points tied up.
Rogue Hero is a cautionary tale. A warning that we should not idolize or take uber uber-rich at their word. Because someone has money flying out the wazoo does not make them smart, or better than you, or even a good human being. Quite the opposite. Most—not all—had it fall in their lap. You can name billionaires off the top of your head. Harder to name those who use their wealth for the betterment of humanity. And that is the end of my TED talk.
If you aren’t familiar with Sinclair’s work do yourself a favor and get on it. His James Ryker series is as good as the best thriller writers today.
My sincere gratitude to BoldWood Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of Rogue Hero!
In Washington, D.C., a senator's life is saved by a mysterious figure who disappears as quickly as he arrives, leaving the nation buzzing with curiosity about his identity. Meanwhile, in Atlanta, lawyer Curtis Delaney watches the footage of the incident and is shocked to recognize the savior: his estranged brother, Finn, who is far from the hero the public believes him to be. Driven by a mix of concern and disbelief, Curtis embarks on a quest to find Finn, only to discover that not everyone has his brother's best interests at heart.
Rob Sinclair, a master of the thriller genre, has penned another page-turner with 'Rogue Hero'. It's my first foray into his work, and it's a wild ride filled with a cast of characters you love to hate: billionaires, cartel members, and even family members, each more despicable than the last. Yet, it's the theme of family, with all its complex emotions, that truly elevates 'Rogue Hero' above the standard thriller fare. My only minor complaint is the wish for some unresolved aspects to be addressed, but this doesn't diminish the value of the story.
'Rogue Hero' serves as a stark reminder that wealth does not equate to wisdom or virtue. It's a call to question the blind adoration of the ultra-rich, many of whom have merely stumbled into their fortunes rather than using their resources for the greater good. It's a thought I leave you with as I conclude my impromptu TED talk.
For those unacquainted with Sinclair's work, consider this an enthusiastic recommendation. His James Ryker series stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the best in the thriller genre.
A heartfelt thanks to BoldWood Books and NetGalley for granting me early access to 'Rogue Hero'. It's been a privilege.
This was my first book by this author, and I was really in the mood for something high-energy and engrossing. It delivered on both counts. Jumping straight into the inciting incident in which an unidentified hero saves the life of a US Senator, his actions replayed on TV screens nationwide in the hope that someone would recognise this rogue hero. That someone was Curtis Delaney who, after years of estrangement due to a family matter, saw through the blurry images of the cap-wearing hero his brother, Finn. Having parted on bad terms, Curtis is curious about his brother's involvement in this high profile case. Whether subconsciously he sees this as a way to reach out to Finn is not made clear, but Curtis feels a need, a desire, an instinct that makes him want to find Finn. And, of course, it was never going to be easy. Finn has led a very different life from Curtis, and has done things he is not always proud of, but working for Victor Travers sees him fall in love - deeply - with Mariana, and his perspective on life changes, especially when he senses something going on between Mariana and Victor. What follows is a fast paced hunt on Curtis's part and a vengeful mission for Finn. An intense race to the finish sees many things change for both brothers, but the gap between them narrows even if only in terms of seeing justice done. Action-packed as well as emotional and touching, the story explores the familial relationship while the revenge plot plays out. Sadly, not everyone gets their happy ending but there's a sense of fulfilment and bonding and hope. A great read, and a new author to follow.
I’m delighted to report that Rob Sinclair is still a remarkable author. Granted, it’s been a few years since I read anything by him, but I have already agreed to read and review more. The story is whip-smart and moves at a very high velocity. The opening scenes set off at a grand pace and never particularly slowed down. Ok, so there is breathing space as the narrative sets the scene, and we are told more about the connection between Curtis and the unidentified hero. As we meet Curtis, his marriage is balanced on a knife edge, and his secretive behaviour is doing precious little to improve that situation. We are made aware of the fact that Curtis is estranged from his brother, Finn, but we learn a little more about the reason for this as the book progresses. I liked Curtis but found myself willing him to be more open with his wife and share his thoughts. He was a dependable type but seemed unable to be completely honest with her. Finn immediately felt a little more dangerous, and I was eager to learn more about how he came to be the hero in a major situation in the US Capitol building. With an exciting backstory, I soon found myself turning the pages hungrily to see what would happen next. Of course, Finn is flawed, and he makes for an interesting character. Both brothers were perfectly imagined, and I could picture them, complete with their flaws. The excitement racks up to a crescendo, and the endgame is not as I had guessed. Sinclair kept my attention throughout, and I am more than ready to read more from this terrific author.
I have previously enjoyed some of Rob Sinclair’s earlier novels, so was happy to try his latest one, Rogue Hero. This is a fast-paced, action-packed thriller with international reach as we are taken on an adventure from the US to Mexico, Europe and Dubai. Curtis Delaney is a lawyer in Atlanta, and while watching news coverage on TV sees his estranged brother, Finn, hailed as a hero. It is not immediately obvious why Curtis feels compelled to leave his life behind and go in search of his brother, who he has not seen for six years, but just accept that he does. The complex plot is told in both dual timeline and point of view and as such holds the attention of the reader. Finn’s backstory is gradually revealed, and we find out how he ended up in so much trouble. Curtis teams up with Alyssia, sister of Finn’s girlfriend Mariana, and together they try to figure out what is going on. It is not easy as neither have any skills as a detective. They uncover a web of secrets, blackmail, greed and violence surrounding Finn and Mariana’s boss, billionaire Victor Travers. The characters are for the most part unlikeable; Finn and Curtis are both flawed, but it slowly becomes obvious that the brothers are more alike than we start out thinking they are. The pace is relentless as the timelines converge and the action comes to a (mostly) satisfying conclusion. While some suspension of disbelief is required, Rogue Hero is an enjoyable and gripping story that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for a digital copy to review.
Rogue Hero by Rob Sinclair is a standalone book told by two brothers, Finn and Curtis Delaney. They have not seen or contacted each other for years. However, while watching the news on television, Curtis sees that there has been an assassination attempt on a famous politician. He is surprised to see that the hero looks like his brother Finn. Still sitting shocked at seeing on the news, Curtis sets out to find his brother and hopefully put all their grudges behind them. The only way Curtis is going to find Finn, is to hire a private detective as he will not be able to find him on his own. Things change quickly for Curtis and finds himself being watched closely by the FBI and the Secret Service officers. Finn has got himself into deep trouble involving a very rich dodgy businessman. But, Curtis is so determined to find Finn and he will do anything to find him, he will even put his own life and personal life in the firing line............He needs to help and find his brother before it's too late.
WoW........This book was full of great twists and turns throughout and a great storyline that just had you gripped from the beginning till the very end.
I highly recommend this book. Another 5 star read and great for holidays.
Big Thank you to Netgalley and BoldWood Books for my ARC.
I liked the writing and the book is gripping, action packed and it is filled with twists and turns. The characters are multifaceted and the story is multilayered. There are multiple perspectives. The character development is good. Finn was a mystery to me and I liked the action packed beginning.
Curtis hasn’t seen his brother since last six years. While when he saw news of the Senator Charlton. He saw someone there and he is certain about him. He is determined to find his brother but he doesn’t know what secrets and truth, his brother Finn is harbouring. The book is filled with so many twists and turns. So many things happens and it kept me on the edge of the seat. And the characters get tangled in the web of corruption, conspiracy, power and greed. It genuinely becomes difficult to fathom who is a hero and who is villain in this book. While I felt sad for Curtis, in a quest to find his brother, his relationship with his wife falls apart. The book was not only action-packed but emotional, touching and heart wrenching too. I felt The ending was twisted and jaw dropping. And the revenge plot is done well here.
Having read many of this authors previous books I was looking forward to this one. I was not disappointed! As always with Rob Sinclair you are guaranteed a book full of action and suspense and this one is no different. This is very fast paced and takes you to many different locations over a two year spell. An assassination attempt is made on a US Senator but the attempt is foiled by an unknown hero who promptly disappears after the event. As a nationwide search to find this hero starts one person recognises him from TV footage. Curtis Delaney, a lawyer, believes the hero to be his estranged brother Finn. Believing him to be in some sort of trouble Delaney puts his work commitments and other matters to one side as he hunts Finn down. This search puts his own life at risk and others he encounters on the way. Each character and event is well described throughout. There are many twists and turns in this thrilling book. Many thanks to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
A mystery hero thwarts an assassination attempt on a US Congressman. When his estranged brother, Curtis, sees the news, he immediately recognizes that it is Finn. But how did he know the Congressman? And how did he happen to be there at just the right time? Curtis' search for answers could destroy his family and his career, and even cost him his life, but his urge to protect his younger brother is still strong, despite the 6-year estrangement.
This book will draw the reader deeply into the life of Finn who is playing a dangerous game of blackmail in order to secure business deals for his mega-millionaire boss. When the tables are turned, can Finn survive his ruthless opponent? Will Curtis find him before it's too late?
The brilliant plot, well-developed and sympathetic characters, and international locales will keep the reader engaged to the very end. Spectacular!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
When a mystery bystander stops an assassination attempt on a prominent politician, it sparks a national search that captivates the nation in Rogue Hero by Rob Sinclair.
Curtis Delaney watches the footage play out on the news and immediately recognizes the unidentified hero. He hasn’t seen his brother Finn in six years. He doesn’t know where he’s been or what he’s been doing. But there’s one thing he does know: Finn is no hero.
The story had the right amount of tension, drama, and red herrings to keep me on my toes while immersing myself in this thriller. The story was action-packed and had well-developed characters.
Curtis has pretty much given up on having a relationship with his "flighty" brother, Finn. He's not seen him for years...until he sees him on TV foiling the assassination of an "extreme right wing" shall we say politician. Finn was no hero when he left - in fact Curtis all but called him a wimp before he left. So how on earth did he get involved in world politics and assassination attempts?
The rest of Curtis life is falling down around his ears - his job he hates, his wife and he are drifting apart and friends that he can't really rely on. So he becomes the man most likely to hunt down his brother!
You will have to disengage the common sense sometimes but if you just go with the flow this is a great political thriller. The intense needs Curtis develops to find his brother was the biggest roadblock I had to get over but after I accepted the familial need I just went with the story. I did find Curtis a very unlikely and if I'm honest, unlikable hero, at first. The story is as much about him being the unlikely hero as Finn is.
The action does slip back in times as we see what led Finn to that fateful encounter. So whilst not the best thriller book I've ever read, this is far from the worst. The storyline is well thought out, the politicians are realistically ruthless and self-serving and I'm all for a MC who is out of their depth but rises to the challenge. I'd certainly read more books from this author.
I have read a number of Rob's previous books and have thoroughly enjoyed them and this one was no exception; it kept me engaged from start to finish.
A US Senator is saved from assassination by an unknown hero who disappears. Curtis Delaney, a lawyer, recognises the hero as his estranged brother, Finn and so begins his search to find him. Curtis comes into contact with plenty of nefarious characters in several countries which puts not only his but others lives in danger.
Rob really knows how to write a thriller with fantastic characters, a thrilling plot, great pace and twists and turns and I would recommend this and his other books. Many thanks to the author, Boldwood Books and NetGalley for enabling me to read and share my thoughts of this book.
This isn't my typical type of book but I decided to give it a shot based off the description and I'm glad I did. This is an action packed page turner and a very entertaining read. Right from the start I was interested in the story and I was interested to find out why this mystery man would stop an assassination attempt and what his motives were. I loved the fact that Curtis recognizes the hero as his estranged brother and was interested to learn how the book would turn out. Great storytelling and kept me turning the pages.
Thank you Net Galley and Boldwood Books for access to the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
It's an action-focused thriller that begins with a dramatic shootout. From the dual viewpoints of brothers Finn and Curtis, it explores what led to the incident and what happened afterwards. Whilst many of the characters, including the protagonists, are unlikeable, this doesn't detract from the story's complexity, contemporary relevance and adrenaline-rush drama. It's a challenging read; the dual viewpoint and dual timeline approach demand concentration. I like the characterisation, the relevant plot and the use of sensory imagery to bring the story to life.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
While the senator’s car was strolling in the vicinity of Capitol Hill an assassination attempt took place. A Good Samaritan intervene to prevent the attack and save their lives. Now the senator is giving a reward to the hidden hero. Curtis a corporate lawyer, following the news of the event thinks that the hero is his brother Finn and without even telling his wife, is in a quest to find him, even though he does not know where to look. Now Curtis must decide if his brother is a hero or a villain. Is my first book by the author and I will definitely check the others as I enjoyed the back and forth, the different settings and the story.
A new novel from Rob Sinclair with none of his usual cast of characters, and it perhaps suffers from their absence.
The plot hinges on two estranged brothers, one trying to find the other who he realises to be in need of help. Written both in the present tense and in flashbacks largely set in Mexico and Italy, the storyline encompasses corrupt businessmen, drug cartels and a burgeoning relationship, a disintegrating one, and a third that’s maybe just a marriage of convenience or something more.
This certainly wasn’t as gripping as the author’s Ryker series, and ultimately I’m afraid came across as a little formulaic and disappointing.
Excellent action and thriller of a book although this has the greatest parts following two brothers who at first seem to be quite different. The book takes many twists and turns through fraud, scammers, billionaires involved with the cartels. It was great learning of some of the key items only at the end and the meetup of the brothers at the end. I also enjoyed the sleuthing by both brothers through digging into company deals and finding key people in government. I don't know if there will be a follow up book, but there's a chance that there could be farther down the timeline after this book's ending.
“Rogue Hero” by Rob Sinclair is an action pact book that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The story is fast paced and makes you want to keep reading. Curtis is living a normal life with a wife and a job. When one day he sees his brother on the news. He hasn’t seen or heard from in over 5 years. This sets off a series of events that Curtis cannot undo. As Curtis tries to help his brother the learns just what he has been up to in the past. Highly recommend to anyone that loves lots of actions in their books.
A new standalone from this author of the Ryker series, and is packed full of intrigue, corruption, dodgy characters, politics, and with a hint of romance too. It is well paced as we follow the main character of Curtis across the continents in search of his brother with lots of action along the way. Great page turner and with an unexpected ending too!!
Thanks to Netgalley /Boldwood books for the ARC to review.
A stand-alone action thriller centred around the Delaney brothers. Finn is the wild one whilst Curtis is more the homely type of guy. Finn is a ‘fixer’ and Curtis is a lawyer. They haven’t seen or spoken to each other for 6 years. Told from the POV’s of the two brothers this is a fast paced and exciting dual timeline read.
Briefly, one day Curtis sees a news flash about a shooting in Washington DC. On the screen there is a picture of a so called hero who has disappeared and he recognises the man as Finn! As Curtis follows up and tries to find Finn we also hear Finn’s story of how and why he ended up on the television.
This is a story of high finance and a bloody and deadly game of revenge and retribution. Good twists kept me guessing with an en expected climax. Quite a complex story with a lot of characters this is an enjoyable thriller typical of what i have come to expect from this author.
