FOREST OF SHADOWS is the second instalment in Kate Gable’s contemporary, adult ALEXIS FORREST mystery, thriller series focusing on thirty year old, FBI Agent/ forensic psychologist Alexis Forrest.

SOME BACKGROUND: Twenty years earlier, Alexis’ older sister Maddie was abducted and murdered, destroying the Forrest family in the process. With her return to Broken Hill to investigate a series of similar abductions, Alexis will reconnect with family, and the man who once held her heart.

Told from first person perspective (Alexis Forrest) FOREST OF SHADOWS follows dual pathways including the search for a missing child, and the ongoing investigation into a decades old serial killer case. Assigned to Broken Hill, the small New England town where Alexis grew up, our heroine finds herself enmeshed into an investigation with eerily similar hallmarks to her sister’s kidnapping and murder but a missing child places Alexis’ focus somewhere else, revealing secrets hidden within the walls of a quiet, vacation rental.

FOREST OF SHADOWS reveals the horrendous crimes of a twisted mind; an obsession with notoriety and death but more so the possibility that all is not as it appears to be. With several clues and outlying suspects interconnected to the ongoing investigation, Agent Forrest discovers there is more work to do on a case that is larger than she could have ever imagined.

FOREST OF SHADOWS is a story of love and loss, murder and madness, obsession and intrigue. The premise is dark and dramatic; the characters are determined and desperate.

This is book two in The Alexis Forrest FBI Mystery Thriller series. Alexis is a forensic psychologist and also a FBI agent but while is Broken Hill while working on a case she finds out that the person that was convicted for her sister’s murder may be innocent so now she needs to find the real killer but then a boy goes missing while on a break with his family so now it is a race against time to find him due to a severe blizzard that is arriving so she needs to work fast before everything including the boy and evidence is lost but Alexis is determined to leave no stone unturned. Wow this book takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions while having you on the edge of your seat and holding your breath while you turn the pages and I was unable to put this book down because it is so addictive. The twists and turns keep coming along with danger, kidnapping, loss of life, suspense, drama, suspense, suffering, emotional situations, hope along with a new relationship and a stalker that will not give up until he gets what he wants. This book was absolutely amazing and I can’t wait to read the next one.

Alexis Forest, an FBI agent, had returned home to Broken Hill to investigate another case. A case that caused her to stumble on evidence, in a cabin, that indicates that the wrong man was convicted of killing her sister....in addition to many, many other women. Apparently, this serial killer has decades of murder under his belt. Alexis is driven to find the truth and to find this killer; she has a personal interest in the case...the murder of her sister.

While there, a young boy is kidnapped in the middle of the day. He had been outside sledding. When the family checked on him, all they found was the sled. They were panic stricken and a major storm was moving into the area. Can the boy be found before the storm obliterates everything? Will Alexis find out that truth of her sister? Was the wrong person convicted of her sister's murder?

This story is a roller coaster ride of ups and downs. It will keep you turning the pages late into the night.

Forest of Shadows is the second book in this series and it is just getting better, with more twists and turns, more anticipation, and a truly page-turning book.

Alexis is a forensic psychologist and also an FBI agent, who returns to her home town to find a missing girl in book one.

In this book a young boy goes missing from outside his cabin, a blizzard is rolling in but Alexis won't stop till she finds him, but will she find him in time, and will she find his abductor?

Meanwhile, she is still searching for the mass murderer who killed her sister and many other girls, as they found evidence in his cabin. They know who he is but he keeps alluding them, while he is out there more girls are in danger including Alexis.

Great book I can't wait for the next one!

Agent Alexis Forrest of the FBI is on a case and goes to the cabin with her captain hearing about the boy Cayden going missing. There is a massive hunt for the boy but it becomes too late. Alexis is determined to find the killer and bring justice to the family. Meanwhile the murder of her sister Maddie is always on her thoughts. There seems to be a link . Lots of twist and turns and a edge of the seat finish to make this an intriguing read. I am on the ARC team and leave a honest review. I recommend this book to other readers.

This is the second book in this series which had Alexis Forrest return to where she was brought up to deal with a case only to find out that Alexis’ sister might have been murdered by someone else to who they thought. Before having time to look into her sister’s case Alexis finds herself on a case for a missing child which also brings up more then it first appears. Will Alexis solve this case or find out exactly who took her sister. This is a good series that leaves wanting the next book.
