Dakota Hearts #4

Wild Dakota Heart

Rate this book
Former Navy Seal, Ethan McKinnon, has spent ten years in the military trying to wash away the bad boy reputation that ultimately resulted in the death of his best friend Denny Newton. Unfortunately, that meant leaving behind everyone, especially Maddie Newton, Denny’s sweet younger sister. Ethan had faced sniper bullets and lived through black ops missions that he never should have come home from. But facing Maddie again, and gaining her forgiveness, is the most terrifying thing he’s ever had to do.

There was a time when Maddie Newton’s sun rose and set with Ethan McKinnon. But that was before her world shattered with her brother’s tragic death, and Ethan had left her to grieve alone while he played hero somewhere else in the world. Old motorcycle pieces in the garage have been a constant reminder of her brother’s unfinished life. Now that Ethan is back in Rudolph, he insists they work together to fulfill Denny’s dream of restoring the motorcycle and bringing it to Sturgis. But how can Maddie work alongside Ethan when he’s the last man on earth she wants to be near…and the only man she’s ever truly loved?

Good read

No danger, lots of angst, romance, some sex and a little humor. He's been home from the military for over a year and she avoids him like the plague. She still blames him for her brother's death, but she doesn't know the whole story. He still blames himself for not saving his best friend. Can they work it out. Highly recommend.

Wild Dakota Heart

This the story of how a young man found the love of his life after she had accused him of killing her brother. For years she always said he had killed him only to find out that her brother was having his own problems with his life and wanted to kill himself. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill

Too rushed

The book was too short. Unlike other books in this series, This book felt too rushed in many areas. The story was a good one to tell, it just could have been more developed.

An emotionally charged story about two people who lost someone they both loved. Ten years of mis-understandings brings them together, when they confront the real issue at hand. A beautiful story of true friendship.

Taming him

The story is about expectations and our perception of them. He actually thought that he had to live up to his friend's expectations of him to be good enough. He didn't know that he was loved just as he was.

Dakota Hearts Series Book 4
Ethan McKinnon has returned to Rudolph, South Dakota after serving eight years as a Navy SEAL a year ago. It's time for closure of the past, time to move on to the future. Time to stop avoiding his best friend's kid sister. As a police officer the opportunity presents itself where they have to meet. He finds her full of anger and hate and having never moved past her brother' Denny's death all those years ago. And Ethan is determined to help her through it, no matter how often she tells him to stay away from her.

Maddie Newton does not want anything to do with Ethan. In her mind not only was it his fault Denny died, but he had left him to die alone. Left them all behind to become a hero. And yet the more she's around him, the more memories surface to remind her of the good times in their childhood.

This is definitely a story where you may want that box of tissues handy. A story of how people grieve differently and sometimes they latch on to the wrong person to aim all that hurt and anger at. To aim it at the living rather than the dead. And sometimes things just aren't what you think they are. Another great book in this series.

If you enjoy series you'll want to start at the beginning with Her Dakota Man, Badland Bride and then Dakota Heat. Book five will be His Dakota Bride. These are shorter books but definitely full length stories.

"Everyone grieves different" is shown in this book where Ethan and Maddie grieve for her brother Denny who died just before Ethan left for his military career. Ethan and Denny were beat friends growing up and when Denny died, Maddie blamed Ethan for his death. The really story of what happened to cause Denny's death is very sad but adds another dimension to the story.

Loved book 4 and looking forward to reading book 5 and happy to hear there will also be a book 6!!

Well still enjoying this series, I’ve been reading them back to back as they are really short.

This once is about Ethan and his best friends (who died young) sister Maddie.
Like I’ve already said they aren’t earth shattering or anything but good little quick reads.

While this book is sad and brings tears to your eyes, it's still a great book. Finally we get to know what happened to Ethans friend from his childhood.... and sometimes the truth will set you free from the pain and anger...most read
