What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
Nakia may have lost a leg during the Invasion, but she’s not going to let that keep her from what she wants.
And she wants Rohn. She has since the moment the alien warrior rescued her from a collapsed building. But she’s afraid he still only perceives her as a damaged, frail human. She wants him to recognize her as so much more, and she won’t rest until he understands they belong together.

Rohn might be past his prime, but he’s not blind.
He sees how the other males look at his mate with envy, admiration, and want. They would tempt her away from him, take her for their own, and claim that an old, scarred warrior like him could not satisfy the appetite of a vibrant young female.
He’ll battle any threat to his mate, friend or foe, and prove himself worthy.

Welp, got a new favorite in this series. This was a super sweet romance with an older, somewhat shy (but fierce AF) male and an amazingly strong, kind female (who was also fierce AF). Definitely a friends to Lovers vibe and when I was afraid it might verge on creeper vibes (they meet when the heroine is 16 and hes a full adult) but not once did it go there. Bravo Nancey!

Not my favorite installment but good. Would have been a four star but for the missing words and typos even though it felt like the action was winding up after the first part. Like an oh by the way this also happened. Even the villain at the end was more of a wrap up than a climactic ending.

The vicious Suhlik invaded Earth to enslave the people and steal the rich resources. Only the Mahdfel warriors stood against them. In return for protecting Earth and providing supplies and medicine when Earth needed it most, the alien warriors asked that all childless, single and healthy woman on Earth be tested for genetic compatibility for marriage since they have no females.

Nakia Sykes couldn’t understand why she had to go to school while Earth was in the middle of an invasion! Not even the teachers were going to school these days! When the power went out, they only got news from the radio – and the description of the Mahdfel “good guys” was so varied that she had no idea what they really looked like. Then one day, the school was attacked. Amid the sounds of bombs going off and buildings collapsing, Nakia kept herself calm while she waited for help. Her leg was pinned under a large slab of concrete. When it started to feel like she was floating above her body, she began to earnestly call for help!

Rohn Ogana’s shuttle had gone out of control and crashed into the school building. He had been transporting an irritating passenger and flew into a restricted area due to a navigation failure, but he may not have done a thorough pre-check. When it was shot down, he lost control and landed badly. Then he searched the wreckage to help the humans, upset to find they were mostly children. When he and the Warlord, his superior, found Nakia, he tried to keep things light so she didn’t dwell on her serious injury. He was ordered to stay with her when Nakia asked that he not leave as the medics moved her. They had to amputate her leg, but with Rohn’s constant presence whenever she awoke, she dealt with what happened with amazing calmness. He held her hand, urging her to look at the amputation. And then he told her, “You are more than your body. You have strength and courage that allowed you to survive in an unreasonable situation. I know you will continue to be brave, because I cannot imagine that a spirit such as yours would ever fail.” That was what she needed.

Rohn owed it to the mate of his deceased passenger to fight him to restore honor. But Levin cheated and put a toxin on his blade. The wounds he delivered on the drugged Rohn would not heal and meant he probably could not fly a ship again. Because they fought in front of humans, the Warlord decided to reassign him elsewhere. Nakia assumed her asking him to marry her when they had gone for ice cream was the reason he stopped coming by, and she was ashamed.

Sixteen years later, Nakia won the Mahdfel bride lottery, which the available females registered for annually. She won two choices, one of whom is Rohn, now scarred and gray-haired. She picks him gladly, and once again, he doesn’t want to marry her, feeling she deserves so much better than an old defective male. But Nakia, despite being humiliated, has always wanted to be his. She refused to beg for him to love her, but she would fight to bring back the man she remembered loving. It’s her turn to teach him that love should not be ignored – and she has loved him for a long time. He had always made her feel special, never doubting her self-worth. Will she convince him to give their marriage a chance? Is he willing to accept what she feels for him with all her heart and make both of them happy forever?

I loved this story and highly recommend it. It says much about love that can endure over all those years, despite difficult times. The characters are wonderful, flawed, and likable, just like real people. The story line is delightful because their struggle takes them in the right direction eventually. Don’t miss this one. It really will stay with you long after the last page.

Now after being saved and loosing her leg and given a prosthetic one she has a protective Mahdfel warrior looking out for her and he tells her the truth about how she got hurt but she doesn’t blame him at all and soon they become best friends but Nakia has stronger feelings for him than she should, so now he is in trusted to find her parents and must stay with her till he does. But when Levin comes to see him he wants blood for the death of his mate and there unborn child and Rohn is devastated at this news but will give him his due and fight but Levin doesn’t fight fare and Rohn is cut a few times and feels funny then realising he has been drugged and cannot move properly or heal from the cuts at all and the fight is stopped and Levin is dishonoured and kicked out of the clan but it’s too late. Now 16 yrs later Nakia is tested on her birthday as is all females on there’s as well for a mate and she is surprised that she has two to pick from and straight away she sees Rohn and chooses him and now they are married but he doesn’t want a mate or so he thinks. What happens now, you get the book to find out I’ve already given away to much as it is, so happy reading you will love it. I voluntarily read an arc copy of this book for an honest review.

This is Rohn and Nakia's story that starts when she is in school and Rohn crash lands into the school. Nakia ends up pinned by a slab of concrete and when Rohn finds her, he stays with her until she is freed, then has the mangled leg amputated. Sixteen years later, 32 year old Nakia, now divorced from her fool of a husband, gets tested like all eligible single females for the mate matching bride program. She not only gets matched but is given two equally good matches. One of her potential mates is Rohn who she chooses right away, she has loved him since she was a teen and he stayed by her side through one of the most difficult times in her life. Rohn has dealt with the revenge of the mate of the female that died when he crashed on that day that he met Nakia, he battled the male and was scarred and half blind due to the poison the mourning male put on his weapon to keep Rohn from healing. There were a few lighthearted scenes with Nakia's cat, Princess and Rohn feels honored to be welcomed into her pride. This is a heartwarming, although there were moments of angst, worry and hurt. I can happily assure you, there is a HEA!

A young girl's crush on her alien savior endures and leads her to 🚀space!

4-4.5🌟 stars
I really liked the plot and the characters in this 🚀space adventure 💖romance. The heroine remains strong, though sometimes appropriately scared, throughout. Her physical limitations make her brave foray into space to join her mate all the more admirable. For me, the opening action, illness and hospital scenes were some of the best in the story as they highlighted a teenage girl's bravery as the world as she knew it crumbles, and the hero's crushing guilt. Later, the hero's worries about robbing the cradle and being undesirable because of his advanced years make him a bit vulnerable and I like a hero with a few weaknesses😊

There's plenty of action and luvvin' plus a finicky pet cat who adds some cute moments of domesticity. Nice mix of drama, romance and humor.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

superb Human-Mahdfel romance

Sixteen years ago, his impatience and irritation at a a diva female contributed to the shuttle crash that killed her, and crushed a school building. His warlord ordered him to assist survivors, and so Rohn freed teenaged Nakia from the rubble, and saw her through the amputation of her leg and her recovery and rehabilitation. She developed a crush on him, and he reminded her of a few harsh truths - the upshot being he left her heartbroken.. Now at 32, divorced lawyer Nakia has just won the Mahdfel bride lottery. Her mate? Scarred and grey-haired Rohn! You'll love this story, as go-for-it, generous and forgiving Nakia teaches guilt-wracked Rohn that duty may be noble, but it's no substitute for embracing love when it walks into your life. Sexy times, jealous fits, grudges, and warriors' conflicts - not to mention the ever-present Suhlik war threat - add spice and urgent drama to this beautiful May-December alien romance.

Rohan

This is the story of Rohn and Nakia. They met when earth was invaded by the Suhliks. Nakia was only 16 years old and was in school when the plane Rohn was piloting was struck by enemy fire and crashed into the school. She was injured in the crash and lost her leg as a result. Rohn was assigned to look after her following the crash because she was alone and they were having trouble locating her parents. Nakia became “attached” to Rohn during that time but she was much to young. Fast forward 16 years. Nakia is a divorced attorney and must submit to the genetic testing required of all single females of child bearing age. Instead of the usual no match she has two matches. One is her old crush Rohn. The story continues from there with lots of action and romance. There are sexual scenes that may offend some readers. There are are also the usual mistakes. In proofreading. There’s usually at least one per page usually more. They are quite distracting.

I have to say that I loved this one by Nancey! Nakia meets Rohn on earth when his ship is shot down and crashes into her school. Nakia loses her leg, but never blames Rohn. Rohn carries his failures with him and always tries to do his best from that day forward. 16 years later Nakia is matched to Rohn. Will Rohn ever be worthy of Nakia’s love?

What I loved about this book is that both characters are flawed. It’s real. Nakia has a physical flaw, but remains strong and positive. Rohn has some physical flaws, but his emotional flaws are what hinder him. They perfectly balance each other. I did not have dry eyes when I read Nancey Cumming’s dedication to her friend who inspired Nakia’s character. I suffer from an autoimmune disease, as well, so this one hit closer to home. We can take a lesson from Team Rokia - seize the day and enjoy your loved ones. 5 fabulous stars for Rohn!

Blood debt

Rohn piloted a faulty transport that not only injured a Sangrin pregnant female but slammed into a school full of children. He left her in the care of
medics as he raced to the school to locate the children trapped in the rubble.
Nakia, a teenager, was at school when she heard a massive explosion. She dived under a table but got trapped by falling debris. Her leg got crushed but she never gave into fear even when faced by an Mahdfel alien. He stayed by her side throughout her ordeal, even when they couldn't save her leg. She holds no grudge against the pilot, war is war, casualties happen.
Not so with the mate of the Sangrin female, there's a blood debt to pay for his female n his unborn son.

Think back to your teenage years and you had your first crush on an older guy. Now imagine you met him again in your thirties, and he sees you for the woman you are. That's the base premise for Rohn. Rohn saved Nakia from a collapsed building when she was 16. She developed a survivor's crush on him, and he disappeared without saying goodbye. 16 years later, she is his match for the Mahdfel Bride Draft. Both have physical disabilities that are the source of their self-esteem issues. Both must overcome these insecurities if their marriage is going to be a strong one.

I absolutely love Nakia. She knows what she wants and she goes for it. I love Rohn's tender heart. They are a match made in the stars. Every chapter was perfect and led to a perfect happily ever after.

Mmm, there’s nothing like a Mahdfel warrior!
I really enjoy having an older guy as the love interest: “Silver Fox,” Gray Wolf” (depending on his mood). Rohn is the epitome of the honorable, protective warrior. The part he plays in Nakia’s rescue (and injury) is pivotal in how she faces her future. The wait between ‘meet’ and ‘mate’ was pretty long, but gave Nakia time to develop self assurance and inner strengths that help make her just the right woman for Rohn.
A great love story; so much excitement!

There are plenty of good ways to do age gap romances. This is not it. Half of the book is spent with the main character underage and the book constantly is reminding us that she is a child and is very childish. Then after the time skip to the second half we get to hear about how Rohn is soooo old, going deaf, lost a lot of eyesight, body hurts, and he's ready to retire. My biggest problem is that it's clear that Rohn was attracted to her as a child and after the time skip they have one conversation before taking it to the next level. Big yikes.

What a enjoyable and entertaining read. This fast-paced read was so worth the wait. Filled with plenty of laughable moment and also some sad ones add in so action, intrigue, and of course steamy romance to keep you hook from beginning to end. Overall a fantastic series can't wait to see what else is in store for this series. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no monetary compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own.

The after effects of war can be a terrible thing, some handle it well and others let it consume them. This tale explores both good and bad decisions. The author gives us insights into all 3 characters affected that fateful day and she shows how Rohn handled his perceived responsibility for the death of one & injury to another. I think Paax's clan was the perfect place for Rohn to wind up, having the human mates on board was just what Nakia needed when she arrived.

Strength wins Love. Nakia as a teenager lost part of her leg during an invasion of earth, never forgot Rohn, the alien who pulled her out of the rubble and who stayed by her side for weeks to protect her. As an adult, she tested for a match with a Mahdfel warrior and Rohn was one of her matches. She knew immediately he was hers and she was going to grab this chance for love. Rohn thought he was too old and damaged to have a mate. She showed him strength will bring them love. Loved the ending.

The disability rep was nice and felt more thoughtful and realistic than many other books about amputees. And then while I was a little worried about the beginning (her getting a crush on him while she was 16 and he was an adult) and where that was going to go; it was refreshing to see them completely part ways, and her later realize it could have ended very badly if he had been someone different and be glad it turned out as it did. Unfortunately, the rest of it was kind of just meh.

This story will move you unless you don't have a heart.

The characters are really well developed. Crohn is a perfect picture of an older guy who finds himself in love with someone younger. While Nakia could be a poster child for anyone who has had to live with a limitation and overcomes it.

This was another book in the series I didn't want to put down. The connection between Rohn and Nakia was great from their first meeting. Nakia grows into a strong woman who won't give up no matter what comes here way. I couldn't help but love Rohn from the beginning. He's a great guy even if he is stubborn. *I received an Arc for my honest opinion.*

Cute

Aside from needing the eyes of an editor, and that needs to be taken into consideration btw, the story is very sweet. The best part is I didn't need to read the previous six books to enjoy this one. This is the first book of the series I picked up, and I had zero problems of misunderstanding.

Rohn

Even the plethora of grammatical errors did not stop my enjoyment. Rohn is a pilot for the Sangrin and through faulty maintenance crashed his spaceship into a school and his passenger perished. He rescued a young Nakia and was assigned to protect her and assist the search for her parents. Rohn and Nakia meet sixteen years later and romance happens.

This one had all the feels. I was caught up right from the start. It addressed issues with responsibility and war, injury and recovery, both physical and emotional. The characters were rich and totally lovable. The story well paced and written. And it’s always fun to get cameos of past characters. Thumbs up here.

The odd thing about this series is that... progressively... it feels like they are getting longer... but I am finding less and less story. Like with Antomas... I thought that that be be way more involved... but no, couple of paragraphs and it was all over. And I really am feeling sad for Paax... I hope he gets to retire.

Poorly edited. Very similar premise to Anderson's Kindred series. Aliens attack earth, different aliens -- all large warriors, male-- save and protect earth. Treaty written requiring single women sign up to be brides of the male only warriors. Decent premise. The book Rohn has good bones, but the grammatical errors are distracting.

Absolutely love this series and this one didn't disappoint. Rohn is older and has worthy issues because of his pilot incident mishap. Nakia has been in love with him sin e he saved her when she was 16 yrs old. 16 years later they reunite with instant attraction. Not a lot of drama. Enjoy reading about past characters. Great book.
