This is a short story. It takes place in Delhi, and the author speaks in loud words about the struggles in life and how love can help in overcoming obstacles.
We are shown by the author how a family is started and children are raised, and how those children when grown can change the life of their family and society.
It strengthens the importance of not forgetting the family ties. Short and easy to read.

First a caveat, this is not my typical read but I was asked to read and review and so I will do that when I can.

An Unconventional Family Saga aims to be a heartfelt story of resilience and familial love, but ultimately, it struggles under the weight of its own perfection. The novel presents a family where the parents are impossibly flawless—beautiful, intelligent, and seemingly the best at everything. Everything is just so over the top - "love for the ages","unwavering" and "remarkable" are used often. This idealized portrayal makes it difficult to connect with them as real, flawed individuals, and instead, they read more like a fantasy of what a family might strive to be.

A major inconsistency in the narrative is how these "resilient" and exceptional parents react to their son's diagnosis of cerebral palsy. Rather than responding with the same strength and capability they apparently display in all other areas of life, their reaction is to cry endlessly, which feels completely out of character and was quite frankly, annoying. I felt that they felt sorry for themselves having this "flawed" child when they themselves were so perfect. This emotional breakdown contradicts the otherwise unshakable nature of the family and seems more like a forced attempt to manufacture drama.

Perhaps the most eyebrow-raising element of the book is the introduction of the second son, who right from the get-go seems to "feel the weight of his obligations" to make the family proud and be the perfect son. Literally he "thought of himself as a gift from God, given to him to make his parents' hopes an dreams come true". That is just ... for perfect parents to put such a burden on their child and for the child to feel that ... I found myself disliking both immediately and unfortunately. Also, this second son, in a miraculous turn of events, somehow manages to do what all the experts the parents sought out over the years could not, which is understand and help his specially-abled older brother. I could get that he could help, assist, further aid, but that no one could understand or help until he came along strains credibility. Oh yes, this character also happens to share the author's name.

Overall, An Unconventional Family Saga attempts to tell a moving story but undermines itself with characters that are too perfect to be relatable, emotional responses that feel inconsistent, and a resolution that stretches believability. While it may appeal to readers who enjoy idealized storytelling, those looking for depth, nuance, and a more realistic portrayal of struggle may find it lacking.

Shashank Singh's Unconventional Family Saga in An Unconventional Family Saga is a short piece in which, with kind heart, a parent’s love for their child reaches new and fresh boundaries, depicting a love that is not only admirable but also unwavering despite challenges and obstacles. The prose is about Rajiv and Reena, whose firstborn, Rachit who has been kidney-transplanted serves as a narrative vessel to examine themes of sacrifice, companionship and the re-definition of accomplishment.

Author Shashank draws a realistic but empathetic picture of the emotional transitions of the couple. With time, the initial thoughts of hopelessness and depression transformed into aggression and advocating for the well-being of their son. The psychological state is a shift that transpires painfully for many individuals who are placed in similar dramatic situations and is therefore described with a lot of care, compassion and tenderness.

Rachit's character is central to the story, not as a burden whose needs can’t be met but as a galvanizing force for his parents to grow and achieve new heights. He is touchingly pinched to life as the author strives to articulate that Rachit is an individual in his own right, he is that kid with aspirations, setbacks, and victories too, thus adding a dimension to the reality of being a disabled person in contemporary society.

Author Singh, narrative is engaging, balancing dialogue with the essence of the story that brings the characters’ experiences to life. This challenge allows readers to fully immerse themselves in this family’s journey, connecting with their struggles and successes.

The book is a gripping account of the experiences of families with children with disabilities. An Unconventional Family Saga is a tribute to the love and dedication of her parents, and a call for the community to recognize and support the diverse experiences of all its members..

In An Unconventional Family Saga, the author masterfully explores the complex dynamics of family, perseverance, and the transformative power of unconditional love. The story follows a beautiful and progressive couple, Rajiv and Reena, whose world is turned upside down when they give birth to a child with cerebral palsy. Their journey is one of unrelenting hardship, as they constantly battle against the challenges that come with raising a child with a disability. The couple's patience, love, and determination are tested time and again, but they remain unwavering in their mission to give their son a normal life.

However, the true miracle unfolds when they bring another child into the world—a healthy baby who not only excels in his career but also becomes the unexpected hero in his family's story. This second son develops into a responsible son and brother, taking it upon himself to find ways to help his elder brother live a more independent and fulfilled life. Through ingenuity, patience, and love, he works relentlessly to empower his sibling, transforming him into a self-sufficient man.

The strength of this book lies in its inspiring portrayal of family and change. The second son’s dedication to his brother’s well-being is a testament to the power of familial bonds and the ways in which love can create miracles. The author highlights the importance of empathy, determination, and the notion that, even in the darkest of times, family is capable of achieving the impossible.

This tale is a powerful reminder of the value of perseverance, especially in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles. It also shows how the love within a family can heal and empower in ways that go beyond physical or mental limitations.

The story begins with a beautiful love story between Rajiv and Reena, the two extraordinary souls who were not only compatible in their hearts but also in their aspirations. Rajiv, a young prodigy, had such brilliance that it appeared almost too unbelievable to accept. On the other hand, Reena worked diligently to empower women & help people in the society. With an intricate plot and well-developed characters, Shashank Singh creates a world that captivates readers from the first chapter. Each chance meeting was a joyful interchange of thoughts & experiences that deepened their bond and served as the foundation for their budding friendship.

Their fairytale had taken an unexpected twist with the birth of son Rachit. Things were challenging but the couple gathered all the hope & strength to overcome the hurdles.. The book brilliantly highlights the endless love of parents for their kids and talks about how the mean judgements by the society turns the situation more worse for the one's suffering.. They moved from Varanasi to Delhi with a hope that things would change but you know what destiny always have something kept in store. Do you think shifting to a new destination would led to any changes in their life ??

Rachit's journey becomes a symbol of hope for everyone facing challenges, a gentle reminder that with determination, strength, love and family support, every obstacle can be conquered and overturned.. Language used is rich and lucid, easy to understand. I would say this book is a short yet powerful read for the ones who desire to find their strength and drive through the challenges of life.. Highly Recommended.

Shashank Singh's novella- "An Unconventional Family Saga" is not just a story of love and family - it is a commentary on the society we live in. Through the lives of Rajiv, Reena and their son Rachita Singh, he reveals the harsh judgment and lack of affection they often display. who stands on the edge of personal struggle. Familial love and stability are juxtaposed against these societal pressures, highlighting how external negativity can fuel personal pain.
Rajiv and Reena's relationship is on the verge of perfection - two extraordinary people, united by shared ambition and mutual respect. But their journey takes a painful turn with the arrival of Rachita. Singh brilliantly portrays the immense sacrifice of parents, their boundless love and their constant hope in the face of many challenges. A moving narrative and a sharp critique of societal norms, the book encourages readers to replace judgment with compassion. For those seeking a story of courage while also considering how our actions impact the lives of others this book is a standard and exemplary read.
The move from Varanasi to Delhi symbolizes the search for acceptance, opportunity and perhaps solace before the court. What I observed as the story progresses, it is clear that the challenges continue, highlighting the theme that geography cannot protect one from the trials of fate.
Singh's writing shines in addressing the societal hypocrisy and judgment parents face. According to my personal takes from the story - it conveys how these attitudes can make an already difficult situation worse. But it also celebrates the family's ability to overcome such negativity.

Rajiv and Reena’s story is told so openly that it makes you think about your own relationships. Their love starts as a spark but grows into something much stronger, built through hard times. Reena’s constant care for Rachit, even when it means giving up her own dreams and happiness, shows a beautiful kind of selflessness that stays with you. This book quietly shares important lessons you didn’t realize you needed. Rajiv and Reena’s story shows how strong and brave people can be, even in everyday life. Their love isn’t about big, dramatic moments—it’s about sticking together.

Reena is the main character, and her ability to love deeply, even when it hurts her, is truly moving. The writer doesn’t make her sacrifices seem perfect or romantic. Instead, we see how hard it is for her, how her spirit starts to wear down, and yet, we still cheer her on.

Rajiv’s challenges are just as touching. His struggles to protect his family, his mistakes and efforts to make things right, make him feel very real and human.

What makes this book special is its honest and open look at life. It doesn’t hide the tough parts, but it also gives us hope. By the end, you’ll think about your own ability to love and keep going through hard times.

Rajiv, meanwhile, struggles with his inability to fix things, which feels very real and relatable. His path from anger to understanding reflects how many of us feel when life throws problems we can’t fix or avoid. What’s most striking is how their love wasn’t just about romance—it became practical, giving, and very strong. It was love shown through actions, not just emotions.

An Unconventional Family Saga was a very close look into the heart of a family I couldn't help but root for the beauty that lies in the strength of the family. The narrative of Shashank Singh is both tender and unflinching; and I am left to think more about my relationships and what it means to love unconditionally.
What stood out to me was Reena's journey. Her character as a mother is central, and Singh doesn't sugarcoat the struggles she faces. The sleepless nights, the sacrifices, the fear of the unknown—all are brought to light in a very raw manner. However, at the same time, there is much beauty in her resilience and how she finds joy in Rachit's smallest victories. It makes me wonder how many silent warriors are in our families.

Rajiv's character brings balance to the story. He is not a mere supportive husband; he has equally fought the battles with his family. His decision with Reena to have another child in their lives, at a time when they really weren't ready, portrayed the lingering hope and love for them.

What made the book unforgettable, though, was how it shifted from personal to something even greater than that. Advocacy of other families who could have shared the same frustrations with this kind of situation has really been so inspiring. That is really the reminder sometimes in dark times: light is present.

This isn’t just a book; it’s an experience. It’s for anyone who has ever felt overwhelmed by life’s challenges but found strength in the people they love. A must-read!

I didn't know what to expect from An Unconventional Family Saga when I picked it up, but I can truthfully say that it was more moving than any book I read this year. Shashank Singh's portrayal of a family whose love, resilience, and sacrifices are as inspiring as they are relatable makes the book unforgettable.

I was hooked into the journey of Rajiv and Reena from the very first page. Their love story is not only romantic but raw and real, and it turns into something much greater when their son, Rachit, is born with cerebral palsy. Reena's dedication to Rachit is heart-wrenching and empowering. Singh has captured her struggles so vividly that I often found myself in tears. You can feel her exhaustion, her moments of doubt, and above all, her fierce determination to give Rachit the best life possible. Rajiv's role is equally compelling. Often in such stories, fathers are relegated to the background, but here Rajiv is a rock. His quiet strength and his belief in his family's future have left an indelible mark on me.

The most rewarding part of the book, however, is Rachit himself. Watching him grow into a confident young man against all odds was nothing less than uplifting. Shashank's perspective as the younger brother added depth to the story, showing how adversity can shape a family for the better.

This book isn’t just a story about hardship; it’s a celebration of resilience and love. I can’t recommend it enough.

"An unconventional family saga" by Shashank Singh is a captivating novel that tells the story of Rajiv and Reena who are made for each other in every aspect of life. Rajiv has an outstanding capability as a young prodigy that makes a reader surprised enough to believe it. Besides this, Reena works for women to ensure their empowerment and she is very helpful and well manned towards society. They plan to live happily ever after but the birth of their son Rachit has changed everything. Their struggle and chaos in life reaches such an extent that it seems like a hell. Moreover the so-called tension and kindness of the close people have made their life a nightmare and for all these reasons they travel to Delhi from Varanasi while nurturing a light of hope for their future. Will this journey be fruitful for them? Let's unfold their destiny with this small book.

I have come to know that it is a real life story based on the author's life and he has beautifully portrayed every emotion, minute details and the sacrifice of parents so vividly that this book will mesmerize the readers in spite of tugging at their heartstrings. The language of this book is simple and lucid and that's why it is a beginner friendly book. I have completed this book in a single sitting and am cherishing the influence of reading an intense book.

"A parent's love knows no boundaries—it is infinite, unwavering, and stronger than any societal norm."

It is a deeply moving tale of love, resilience, and the unbreakable bond between parents and their children. Through the journey of Rachit, the book highlights the struggles, strengths, and unconditional love that define family. Rajiv and Reena’s story adds depth, portraying the challenges of societal norms and the unwavering commitment of parents.

"Some children are born not just to live but to inspire, to show the world the true meaning of resilience."

I liked the Rajiv and Reena’s love, their battle against societal norms, and their unwavering support for their child resonated deeply.

"A family’s love is not defined by convention but by the courage to stay together through every storm."

The writing is simple yet impactful, making the narrative relatable and emotionally stirring. The book not only sheds light on societal realities but also leaves readers with a sense of hope. "Life doesn’t always go as planned, but love and perseverance can carry you through." This message resonates throughout the entire story, and it's beautifully exemplified by Rajiv and Reena’s experiences. From Rajiv’s admission to IIT BHU to the emotional rollercoaster that follows when their son Rachit is diagnosed with cerebral palsy, every page captures a new layer of their evolving relationship.

I particularly loved the way the book balanced Rajiv and Reena’s personal growth with the struggles they faced as parents. Reena’s dedication to Rachit, even when her own health began to suffer, highlighted the immense sacrifices parents make for their children. What I found refreshing was how their love didn’t falter, even in the face of overwhelming challenges.

The story isn’t just about a family dealing with a disability, it’s about the growth of each individual within the family unit. Rachit’s eventual success, along with the joy of Shashank’s arrival, brought a sense of closure and fulfillment. The message is clear: no matter the hurdles, love can lead you to brighter days.

This story about Rajiv and Reena’s journey as parents of a child with cerebral palsy feels genuine and raw. The author does an amazing job of capturing the emotional complexities of parenthood, especially when dealing with a child who faces significant challenges from birth. Rajiv and Reena’s unwavering commitment to their son, despite the sacrifices it requires, is both heartbreaking and inspiring.

What stood out to me was how the book didn’t shy away from the darker side of raising a child with a disability. Reena’s struggle with her own health and the tension it caused in their marriage felt incredibly real. But through it all, there was an underlying current of hope that kept them going.

The most rewarding part of this story is seeing Rachit and Shashank grow and find their own paths, ultimately bringing joy back to the family. It’s a story that will resonate with anyone who has faced difficult circumstances and reminds us that love, determination, and hope can guide us through the toughest of times.

An Unconventional Family Saga by Shashank Singh is a moving indictment of how society views people with disabilities. The novel emphasizes the structural obstacles, like social stigma and inadequate support networks, that families encounter when raising children with special needs. The transition of Reena and Rajiv from personal caregivers to advocates is similar to what many parents actually go through when they decide to use their hardships as a catalyst for activism. Singh should be commended for addressing these difficult realities while writing a story that is heartwarming and hopeful. This book serves as a noteworthy literary accomplishment as well as an inspirational call to action. But occasionally, especially during the conversations about how society views disability, the pacing feels hurried during significant transitions. Nevertheless, Singh keeps readers interested with his poetic prose and fully realized characters.

Reading this book was like being on a journey with Rajiv and Reena. It felt so real because the struggles they faced weren’t sugar-coated. The author doesn’t shy away from showing the difficult sides of raising a child with a disability. From dealing with Rachit’s condition to the emotional toll on their marriage, this book captures the essence of what it means to fight for your family.

The turning points in their lives were so well-executed. When Rachit was born with cerebral palsy, the couple’s world turned upside down. But they didn’t give up; they moved forward, no matter how hard it got. I admired how the couple dealt with their personal emotions and stayed committed to one another.

By the end of the book, the transformation in Rajiv and Reena’s family was uplifting. Despite all the trials, they emerged stronger. The birth of Shashank and the family's eventual happiness was a rewarding finish to a tumultuous but hopeful journey. It shows that with resilience, anything is possible.

Unconventional Family Saga is the journey of Rajiv and Reena with their child Rachit who has special needs.
The author has very well articulated the life challenges faced by parents especially mothers when a child with special needs was born into the family. Through the story the author has shown a mirror to society on how it needs to be more compassionate towards parents with kids who have special needs.
The story makes you emotional at many points as you feel connected with Reena the mother and her conflicts.
The ups and downs in the life of a perfect couple post the birth of their child are covered well in the book. The story is an example of the resilience of a relationship when faced with challenges that seem insurmountable.

An amazing book that portrays the obscure substantiality, lying in our domestic interactions.

It's a story of love, hope and attachment.
This is the story of Rajiv and Reena who have struggled their whole life for their son Rachet who is diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Together they've a formed a world of immense love and care that acts as the sustenance of living.
Overall it's an extraordinary story of parental love and family attachment.

The author has picked up a keenly mundane storyline depicted in the most lively way. Life and lifestyle, love life, various social behaviour and idiosyncratic interaction have come out of the chapters in a picturesque way.

With the movement of the characters and zestful narration, it has become an enjoyable read.

In addition to discussing how society's harsh judgments exacerbate people's suffering, the book masterfully illustrates the unending love that parents have for their children. With the expectation that things would improve, they relocated from Varanasi to Delhi; however, fate always has a plan.

The way Reena's sacrifices were shown was deeply poignant. She sacrificed her goals and job to care for her son, which truly had me thinking about how much a parent loves their child.

Rajiv, Reena, Rachit, and Shashank are the four primary characters in the novel, which also examines themes of connection, sacrifice, and familial love. I adored the author's use of personal tales and experiences to humanize the narrative and authentic.

The challenging aspects of raising a child with a disability are depicted by the author without holding back. This book perfectly encapsulates what it means to stand up for your family, from coping with Rachit's illness to the emotional toll it takes on their marriage.
I found Reena's journey to be very noteworthy. Her role as a mother is crucial, and Singh doesn't downplay the difficulties she encounters. The sacrifices, the fear of the unknown, and the restless nights are all shown in a very unvarnished way.
The author also pays homage to his parents in this novel. A family biography presented as a monologue and narrative is straightforward, grounded in reality, and incredibly motivating. A tale about optimism in the face of adversity!

An emotionally stirring and thought-provoking book that exemplifies Shashank Singh's storytelling prowess. Singh takes readers on a voyage of self-discovery, empathy, and eventually love with his vividly rendered characters and gripping story.

However, the book's transformation from personal to something even more significant is what made it so memorable. It has been incredibly motivating to advocate for other families who might have experienced similar hardships in this type of circumstance.

A rather ordinary plot has been taken up by the author and presented in the most vibrant manner possible.

The short story is unique in more ways than one. It tells the story of two teenagers who are maturing into smart young adults and their ambitions being dashed after learning that their first kid has cerebral palsy. Their lives are then depicted in a very positive light.

The emotional complexity of fatherhood are expertly captured by the author, particularly when interacting with a child who has major obstacles from birth.

I was impressed by the couple's ability to manage their individual feelings while remaining devoted to one another.

The way the parents met and their relationship is nicely complied. It feels like a movie with love, romance, tragedy, hope, and a joyful ending because of the author's writing style.

The book's willingness to address the more difficult aspects of parenting a child with a disability caught my attention. It felt so real to see Reena's battle with her own health and the strain it placed on their marriage.

The narrative eloquently illustrates how Indian society views people with disabilities, and it is heartbreaking to see how everyone severed their family ties as a result.

In a very motivating flow of words, this author has the ability to grasp the solution to the current problems faced by parents whose children have autism and other mental illnesses.

"An Unconventional Family Saga" is a tale of perseverance and optimism. Singh gives his story a positive tone by reminding readers that love has no bounds and that family is defined by the relationships we create rather than just hereditary ties.

It was encouraging to see how Rajiv and Reena's family had changed by the book's finale. They came out stronger in spite of everything.

This book is both an inspirational call to action and a notable literary achievement. But often, particularly when discussing how society perceives disability, the pacing feels rushed amid important changes.

Despite the sacrifices involved, Rajiv and Reena's unwavering devotion to their kid is both inspiring and tragic.

I strongly advise everyone to read this brief, snappy tale, but especially youngsters who will comprehend the difficulties and obligations involved in maintaining a close family relationship.

Anyone who appreciates the value of relationships and family should read it.
