No longer hidden behind the curtain… …the Humtars walk among us. How will their return impact the Galactic Empire’s wars?
With the help of his uncle, Captain Tim Haas has smuggled out a virus that is highly deadly to the Zodarks. After the attack on Sol, this weapon of mass destruction would be an instrument of revenge, of justice, for billions of people.
Will it be discovered before he can use it? Would such a genocidal act threaten the Republic’s position in the Empire or strengthen it?
After what transpired with the Orbots, the Dominion alliance has been thrown into chaos. The Zodarks not only face external threats but infighting as well.
Despite these challenges, the war is far from over.
You’ll love this tenth installment in the epic Rise of the Republic military sci-fi thriller series because the action will keep you up at night.
This really felt like it was written by multiple people, very scattered while sections feel like they were from a different version of the book and don't really make sense. Worth reading if you have Amazon unlimited and just want something to turn off brain.
Also, and I can forgive authors for this, you would never use tanks by themselves, a ground war like this isn't using fobs, they would be dug in a huge perimeter. Look at the war in Ukraine.
Generally, I find author's work readable. Series started well but this is pretty bad. DNF. Most of the characters are new to series, not developed at all. Plot just loosely tied to series.
Like several of the previous books there are minor errors in the story line and typos. For example, one of the battles ends without letting the reader know what happened to Admiral Dobbs former XO who was promoted to captain his own ship.
This became a military book into a politics and kingmaker type story strangely in the book that I lost focus in caring who ruled only that got my fight scenes.
Poorly written and disconnected stories. I've stopped reading at approx. 70% of book 10 (!). I can't remember when was the last time i did that.
Besides one or two characters, i found myself not caring or hoping some characters get killed just so i could have more focus on the main story arc (or any arc for that matter) instead of pointless listing of military units, their designations and uniform, generic locations. Ok, maybe not pointless, the author has to pump those word count numbers up, you need to get to sell 11 books somehow.
Reading this book, i realized that this reminded me of another series about WWIII started by Chinese AI suffering from the same shallow writing approach, stretching over seven books when it could be over in two. Then, lo and behold, same author. Pumping word/book count with diluted story inflated by pointless "Brian looked at 146th Mechanized Rifle Motorized Regiment from 17th Infantry Corps of 4th Army Division tracked vehicles basking in sunset of planets distant blue sun" sentences (see how fun it was to read this).
On top of that, add... ...nonsensical battle tactics where spaceships in orbit don't resort to bombardment and instead military deploys infantry into hand to hand masturbation combat on the surface. ...shock waves in vacuum of space ...regular deus ex-machinas in form of 'here's another alien culture on top of this one that's super advanced, but not advanced enough' ...humanity is special. Of course it is.
Saga is starting to wind down. Bad guys are on the run, and the Republican is kicking tail. Betting that the Zodarks will make an Alamo type stand, and a huge space battle will be part of the final book. Really liked Miles, as he moves among other species, and getting their support for the Earthers, rebuilding that which the Zodarks/Orbots destroyed. Having the “elder race” identified as being humanoid is exciting, but hasn’t really led to greater technology for humanity - yet. Also in next book, I am betting. Hear me James/Miranda? ( in case you need some ideas) 😬
I have been reading this series for a while now and while I was excited to see it drop, the end result was different then expected. The writing style seems slightly different then before and the story bounces between situations more then I expected. There was some phrasing I've heard a couple of times from AI generated stories. Not an accusation, just pointing it out.
Another good one in the series. A little slower in parts than some of the previous books. I like the storyline with the use of a biological weapon and the ethic question it brings. A little disappointed with the introduction of the Humtars. I was expecting more. Hopefully there is more to their story. If you are a fan of the series I do recommend.

Another intricate story weaving between the army, navy, intelligence agencies, politicians, good guys, bad guys, war and peace, aliens and humans creating a layered story of fighting for survival of humans in a wide open universe. Reads well and fast can't wait for the next installment as all he'll is breaking loose
This book kept up until 2am three nights in a row. Just what I expected from James and Miranda these guys can write and they keep you excited and waiting go turn to the next page. Only problem is getting to the end and wanting more.
I had been waiting for this book to be published. It was definitely worth the wait. A great follow on in the story. The story was well thought out and written. I again look forward to the next installment.
Too much of a spy story for me personally. I wanted to hear follow up on many of the old characters. There’s a lot of new characters. I really wanted to hear more about the lost ancestors and it was more of a footnote than anything. It’s a good series but loosing its way.
