My sister gave my 7 y/o son this book and I came downstairs one morning to find him curled up on the couch absolutely devouring it. He is an avid, advanced reader, but he will walk away from a book he doesn't like. He had this one finished in one sitting and loved it.

I bought this book for my 9yo son as a small gift for Halloween in lieu of candy. He's one of those boys who had difficulty finding books which interest him enough to sit and read on his own often.

One day I found my son sitting at the kitchen island, eating a snack, and reading BONES ON THE SURFACE. He didn't move until he finished. (Mind you, it's a relatively short book and quick read for an advanced reader.) He loved it!

I won't spoil it for you, but I'll say it's an excellent book for MG readers or those who struggle with reading, though my preteen (12) and teenage (18) daughters thought Bones and Rattles were adorable characters with a fun little adventure to be had too when they read it with their brother again later.

This is a cute book, and I recommend it as the mother of a difficult-to-entertain, ADHD, 9yo son who read it BY CHOICE on his own!
