That psychopath has taken her, and the only reason we aren’t watching the world burn in our grief is because of Grey, or should I say Hades! He has assured us he would’ve felt her soul depart if she was dead.
We’re going to get her back and get help from an unlikely place, more mysteries get thrown our way, and somehow throughout it all, we have to remember that we’re on a task for the Warrior Games, and fae knows what the fae realm will throw at us next.
More mysteries and unexpected connections have us reeling, but none of it matters if she’s not safe.
She has to be okay. She just has to be.
This is a slow burn paranormal Reverse Harem. Set in the same world as the Lost Ones series, it will crossover with Sage and her men at some point but can be read separately! Please be advised that this book contains dark themes, including abuse, graphic violence, flashbacks to past abuse, and cursing. Additionally, sexual themes are suitable for mature audiences 18+. All sex is consensual.
Writing has never been optional for Nikita Parmenter. Like eating and breathing, it’s something integral to their existence. Everyday they are thankful to be able to make a career from something that brings them so much pleasure.
It wasn’t easy getting their first break in the publishing world. Fortunately, a close friend and literary agent saw their potential in 2000 and that was the beginning of the first chapter of their professional literary life. Since then, Nikita Parmenter Author has published a number of short stories and bestselling books.
WARNING! Cliffhanger! This one isn’t quite as traumatic as the previous book’s cliffhanger, but it rates a 4/5 on my trauma scale.
Picking up from book two’s cliffhanger ending, Fallon has been kidnapped by one of the Princes of the Underworld, leaving her team and Grey/Hades behind. Subject to tortures, Fallon is fading fast, and her men need to find their way into the Underworld to help her.
There are all kinds of goings-on in this book, as plots are revealed, plans are changed, and people are learning all kinds of things about themselves. We actually get a lot of time with Fallon’s team; with the new addition of Khaos (a higher demon) and of course the newly revealed Hades. We learn a little more about some team members, and even get an intriguing hint about Fallon herself. There’s a lot of action in this one, very little romance or steam, and a great deal of magic. Several new plot twists and turns may well prove to be interesting future parts of the story.
Ultimately this one seems to be mostly a setup for stage two in the adventure, and I’m looking forward to seeing where it takes us next. This series is great for RH fans, and urban fantasy lovers alike (although if you’re someone who hates grammar issues, consider yourself warned), especially those who enjoy morally grey characters
With 2 books in a series devoured you wait patiently for the third & at the end of it you are left wondering why you bothered . It's not an awful book , read plenty of them but it seems without depth even the torture descriptions left me bored instead of grossed out such a let down after books 1 & 2 dad to say there will be no book 4 for me
So, not a trilogy. I love this author's mind. Her stories are always fresh and entertaining. These academy series link together, but can be read separately as well. I compliment her in the massive improvement in editing. Not many errors in this book. Farren is our heroine and this is her saga. She has grown exponentially in powers and emotional health. This is a no burn romance with an ever expanding harem of devoted followers. This volume describes the group's journey in the underworld. Much of it has Farren suffering and growing on her own. Her descriptions of events are told, in present tense, in her thoughts. Lots of disturbing violence, that I skimmed over. But I enjoyed her retribution and read every word.
I read several series by this author. Or I should say I started several. I’m so disappointed after a second or third book. With finding my home, I got as far as book 8. And I really had to push myself. I am just so sad that this author can write a great first book and then it just goes down hill from there… The second book is to just OK .. third book was one of the lousy side, and then it’s just completely awful. I really come to the conclusion that she can come up with a great premise, but really has no skill to develop the story to keep the reader interested. I wanna tear out my hair how often the author says good point, that makes sense, fair point… it’s like every time she does it, she’s patting herself on the back for writing something. She spent so much time trying to make the reader understand something and it just gets so redundant and tedious, you wanna tap the author on the shoulder and said move on! So I think I’m going to leave this author behind… I’m tired of getting invested in a book and just being completely disappointed. Honestly, I just absolutely adored some of her first books so much in fact that I pre-bought many of them and I finally now take the time to read them and I realize how much money I wasted.
I really enjoyed this series so far. The point of views focused more on Farren than the guys. She finally defeats the princes and figures out how to get the gate key. She knows a god was involved helping the princes take down Grey aka Hades. She couldn’t see much of his face but she did take note of a prominent scar on his hand close to the thumb. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much of a discussion of this when she finally meets up with her guys. Farren was kidnapped by the princes, and is tortured for the majority of the book before she breaks out, with the help of Khaos aka H, who tells her how to break out of the layers of magic that bound her magic during a dream. She can barely move around in the Void as her doorways are partially blocked. More info comes out and it’s a pretty sure thing that Farren is a goddess, maybe the goddess of the Void realm. She gained a 3rd familiar Oryn which we still don’t know about. No one else can see him or her but Farren. She has yet to sleep with Any of the guys, so this is a Slow burn romance for sure. I had hoped this book with be the finale but there’s one more realm she needs to go to and get the last key from the Dragon realm. Seems that Reaper doesn’t have good memories there. The academy seems to be forgotten since they have been trying to stay alive while also helping complete the warrior trials. I really enjoyed this book and series and I’m so glad I re read the first 2 books so I could be fully up to date when I read the newest book (this book). I want to know more about Poca aka Cerebus, the 3 headed dog. I’m also interested in finding out if Farren received more gifts from the gods since she’s doing the trials. I really can’t wait for the next book. If I had known it was extending into another book, I might have waited to read this one so I could read them all together. Loved loved loved this book. Regardless of the anxiety I had when reading about her torture, it was incredible. Everything felt like it flowed so naturally. No missing chunks that made the reader feel like we skipped a chapter or anything. Can’t wait for the next book!
This book was insane! So much happened! Hades/Grey are revealed as the same and his bff Khaos joins them on their mission to save Farren who was taken to the underworld. Farren is being tortured and questioned by 4 of the princes. They ask about Hades and surprisingly her mother? She had a vision of a goddess who is the one who has spoken to her before. She also dreams of a man called H while in the cell, who turns out to be Khaos. He helps her to get her magic back when she almost dies. She escapes and goes on a rampage killing the princes and she sees a vision of how Hades was captured and that a god was involved. They are all reunited, and find out they have to go to the dragon realm to get the last piece of the key to the underworld. She sees her uncle in the spirit world, as they are being sucked into a portal that apparently took them to the god realm. While on the rampage she got god created weapons and also brought Hades his. Poca is apparently Cerberus. She also somehow absorbs some of Hades magic.

Alright so I made a comment for book 2 about how well this author has done a good job of not muddling things given the number of MMCs but now with the addition of Khaos, it’s heading that way. I liked Khaos, ex right hand to hades and at least with Farren, comforting cinnamon roll. Turns out grey is Hades and the princes of hell want Farren to tell them where he is. They tortured her a lot. The trauma responses she’s likely to have and are already showing are severe which is understandable. I truly did enjoy reading this book but not as much as the previous ones. I wanted more time with the guys and more revelations beyond them all finally admitting how they feel for her. There has yet to be any kind of relationship discussion but boy will it be a doozy. The ending has me intensely curious and I still have so many unanswered questions about various characters. I hope that book 4 comes out ASAP!
Unfortunately I couldn't finish this one. I loved the first book, then struggled through the second, hoping that the writing would improve. I got four chapters into this book before deciding to put it down. The language used in the second and third books was quite unsophisticated and filled with grammatical and spelling errors. It felt almost as though they hadn't been proofread. Also, the description mentions adult content and that "all sex is consensual." However, the first two books contained no real adult content, only the odd make-out or vague references to fantasies. This wouldn't have been a problem if the rest of the storytelling was a little more developed, and the writing was more succinct. I loved Nikita's ideas. I fell in love with the characters in the first book and I was quite intrigued by the storyline and the world that Nikita has built. I'm devastated that the writing frustrated me enough that I couldn't bring myself to continue.

There is an oddness with the dialogue. The dialogue between the characters is unnaturally and overly polite and sweet. A paragraph of gratitude where a simple thank you would suffice. Speeches of appreciation in the middle of important scenes. Humans don't speak like this. I have noticed this in Nikitas other books, especially in the later books of her Finding my Home series. But in this series, it became overpowering and threw me out of the story.
The first book came across as a supernatural academy read, which I really enjoyed. I was looking forward to the trials, but then nothing. And to be honest, the MMCs were not well distinguished from the first book through to this one. Though the grammar and sentence structure account a lot for this issue. But the last two books were more Save the World. I tend to dislike that genre. The first book was definitely the best. I really wanted to love this series, but from here I doubt I will read the next book.
as someone who did not like the first book and had no interest in the rest of the series, I'm glad I gave it another shot. the second and third books were definitely an improvement in errors, plot, and overall story telling. it still feels to me like it was possibly written for teenagers with lower reading comprehension, but I have a feeling it will keep improving. this is definitely a slower burn in terms of actual intimacy but emotionally the MMC's are all in and I do love that. the only thing I have a gripe about is that we don't really get a deeper dive into these guys. it all feels very surface level and I wish there was a bit more character building in terms to that. there are multiple POV's but I don't feel as if they are being utilized effectively. although, this is an ongoing series so I'm holding out hope! fun series to waste time on but nothing super memorable.
I have been waiting for this book for so long and it has not disappointed.
This series just seems to get better and better and I can’t wait to see where it leads. Farren’s men are amazing, and the reveal of Gray / Hades? Ugh so so good.
The detail of the torture sessions was intense, but the slaughter of the prince’s was like music to my ears. They deserved to die
My favourite part was the dreams between ‘H’ and ‘Ren’ which turned out to be real, and ‘H’ was one of her mates!!!
The cliff hanger!!! “..we’re in the god realm, nobody move” ?!?!?! Like whatttt I think I’ll die waiting for book 4
Highly Recommend

Nikita's writing style, story building just grabs me and never let's me go. I'm going crazy to know what Goddess Farren is and I have a feeling Monty is related somehow. This book truly has some very dark elements followed by strength and love and I'm here for it! I love all her bonded and I know this journey isn't nearly over that ending heck the whole book had me in suspense, Kahos fits Farrans warrior side big time and Reaper is about to go threw something insane will his dragon Ryu break threw and take control destroy everything and what God's are they about to meet!!! I CANT WAIT FOR BOOK 4
The amount of anger I felt for Farren in this book was top tier. How she’s able to fight and protect herself hypes me up tenfold while reading. The plot is progressing amazingly and has perfect pace. I am starting to get a little disappointed with how many secrets and unsolved questions we have stacking up. I hope in the next book we start to reveal some answers. Farren is still Farren collecting more questions than answers, and more men all while kicking some major butt. Her powers are still amazing and unique. I can’t wait to read more.!!
I absolutely loved this book of the series! ✨✨✨✨✨if Nikita is writing it then I'm going to read it no questions asked! Farren's been taken by the princes and her men are on a mission to get to her. There are new people introduced as well as new magic, lost magic, gods/godesses, supernaturals and more plot then I know what to do with but it's an amazing ride and you will feel for all the characters!
I love this story line, I really do! With that being said, it is the only reason I kept reading. Between spelling errors, incorrect use of apostrophes, and using incorrect words in sentences, I almost stopped reading it. Does that sound petty? Perhaps. Am I wrong? Nope.
Truly great story line as long as you’re able to turn a blind eye to grammatical and punctuation errors.
I do look forward to the next book in this series. Love the characters!
Farren has been kidnapped by the pronces and tortured daily for information she doesn't have or refuses to give them all while they have her magic locked down. Her men and a new addition travel the underworld to try and free her. There are revelations revealed and other mysteries yet to discover. But of course right at tge end aomething else happens and now must wair to see what new trouble her and her men get into.
Chaos Unleashed, book three of the Black Onyx Academy series, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). I had lost track of this series at one point and was glad I recongized the Black Onyx in the heading. It was easy to pick up from book two--that ending was hard to forget. Chaos had just as many unexpected surprises as the prior books, and I highly recommend this series if you like your plots twisted. And I'll wait (im)patiently for more.
I have loved reading book 3 of the adventures of Farren and all of her mates. There were a couple grammatical errors, but nothing to take away from the story. Nikita Parmenter is a wonderful storyteller with a great imagination. I have loved all of the stories I’ve read from Nikita and I look forward to reading more of them , especially the next book in this series. Thank you Nikita for writing.
Good read. Lots of twists and turns. Great characters and st one. Needs to hurry up and get Ferren and the guys together in relationships so we know who stays. Already going to book four and nothing yet except for more of platonic meetings. Still, looking forward to the next book!! Author is a GREAT writer and I will be reading more of her books.
Whelp that plan of food and sleep went right out the window with that cliffy lol and that ending poor Farren she can’t catch a break and I hope she was seeing things and it’s not true. Once again I need the next book lol shocker no lol so many questions were answered and so many new questions have risen. Cannot wait to see what happens next.
Amazing amazing. Couldn't put the book down. Wow so good. Can't wait for book 4. Usually at the end of the book it at least tells you the name of the next book, but this time it didn't. Still book 3 was just as thrill seeking as book 1 and 2. Love this series
Really good book, Farren is a kickass FMC and her men are too. Lots of fighting, magic, blood and more fighting. Smooth writing and flows well. Now I want to re-read from the start.
You have done it again Nikita. Once I think I have a handle on the story you flip the switch and I am adjusting my thinking. Thank you for your brilliance. I love this series! ❤️❤️❤️
Our girl got the short end of the sword for most of this book . I’m happy to see the guys be there for each other and work with each other. I gotta say I love when our girl is handing out karma. I’m so excited for book four .
This book is definitely the worst of the series so far, but it's still fun enough. The cursing is more prominent, and I don't like how unnecessary it feels in almost every sentence; it's so cringe.
I just had to leave a review. I will be recommending this book and series to my reverse harem Facebook groups and my book-loving friends. I love the books with Sage and her men. But Farren is a BOSS!!
Such an amazing book, I read it so quickly! Cannot wait for the next one as there's still so much to find out. I have more questions than answers and I am so excited for the rest of the series
This is one way to start and end a book wow um we are going to need time to process all that has happen and when my brain comes back online we will need alot more of these characters and all the questions answered. Can't wait to see what happens next
Poor people can't catch a break. 9 harem boys, 3 pets. Four semi-sentient weapons, a sentient house, and a book. Power boost upon power boost upon power boost. The fun never stops, and they haven't even gone back to school yet. Why is this series even called black onyx academy?
