Finshed Manifest Destiny, had a great time. 48 issues in total in two big hardcovers. Great action, lush artwork, cool coloring and many many monsters. Exploration, american frontier shit, but again with so many cool monsters. This was just great.
The monster of the week style of the earlier volumes are gradually replaced in this second half collection, drawing the story to a satisfying conclusion which pulls together the various themes, resulting in an ending that feels very, well, ending-like. This was a great series throughout, fun at times but serious when it needed to be and not without the odd gut punch to send the reader reeling. Plus the book is gorgeous and looks great on your shelf! What's not to love?!
[3.3] A grinding continuation to the great volume 1. This one has the same great art, interesting character personalities and good writing. Tons of side quests again, which gets a bit repetitive. The end was poorly composed though, and the will to display virtue got in the way of something that could have been interesting. I can still recommend the story as a whole, though not as emphatically
Liked this better than the first half- themes and story aims came into better view here and it rounded out in a very satisfying way. Beautiful art and a gripping story that thrills, scares and provokes in equal measure.
