Author Cassandra Reeder launched her blog The Geeky Chef in 2008, bringing fictional food and drinks from a vast array of fandoms into reality with simple and fun recipes. Since then, a series of cookbooks based on the trailblazing blog have been published, including The Geeky Chef Cookbook and The Geeky Bartender Drinks. In 2023, she released The Unofficial Princess Bride Cookbook, a delicious celebration of the classic cult film. When not conjuring up recipes for fictional food, Cassandra can be found having adventures and perusing the food carts in Portland, OR with her husband and two little geeks.

Aivan ehdoton lisä Mass Effectin ja cocktailien ystävien hyllyyn. Tämä on selkeästi rakkaudella laadittu teos, jossa on sekä Mass Effect -peleistä tuttuja että pelisarjan inspiroimia cocktaileja. Lisäksi mukana on myös joitain pikkupurtavien reseptejä.

Kirja on jaettu ensinnäkin kahteen osaan: ensiksi ovat alkuperäiseen trilogiaan ja lopuksi Andromedaan liittyvät reseptit. Toisekseen nämä kaksi osaa on jaettu useampaan osioon pääasiassa pelin eri baarien mukaan. Ensimmäisessä osassa baarien lisäksi on myös omat osionsa miksereille ja Normandyn henkilöstön inspiroimille juomille.

Monet resepteistä vaativat aika paljon aineosia, mutta mukana on myös yksinkertaisempia juomasekoituksia. Kaikkinensa reseptit tuntuvat monipuolisilta, kiinnostavilta ja kekseliäiltä, ja varmasti jokainen löytää niitten seasta jotain mieluista. Lisioł nie zamierza przed nikim ukrywać, że w swoim serduszku wciąż nosi trylogię Mass Effect. Chociaż pozycja jest po angielsku, futrzak musiał ją mieć i w ten sposób ta nieduża książeczka znalazła się w lisich łapach.

Początkowo Lisioł zastanawiał się, czy księga drinków jest mu w ogóle potrzebna, po czym całkowicie się uzależnił! Zwłaszcza Calibration Cooler z bananem jest lisim faworytem *głośne siorbanie*. Niektóre drinki bywają niebezpieczne np. Subject Zero. Trudno jednak nie docenić faktu, że wszystkie mieszanki są bardzo klimatyczne. Do przepisów dołączone są zdjęcia i informacja na ile osób, czy dodać lód oraz jaka szklanka jest polecana. Przepisy bywają dosyć złożone, ale dzięki temu macie w ręku pełen arsenał drinków, którymi możecie zaskoczyć znajomych – no i ten smak! Krogańskie drinki brzmią naprawdę nietypowo.

Menu jest podzielone na kluby występujące w trylogii Mass Effect i Andromedzie! Lisioł oszalał wręcz z radości. Mamy więc Afterlife Club, Eternity, Flux, Dark Star Lounge, Purgatory Bar, Chora's Den, Mixers, Silver Coast Casino, The Vortex, Kralla's Song, Tartarus, a także osobny dział z drinkami załogi Normandii!

Wyobraźcie sobie, że to nie wszystko. Są też dwa bary z przekąskami: Milky Way Bar Snacks i Andromeda Bar Snacks. Czy Lisioł próbował? Owszem! Spicy Ramen Noodles – mniam, ale ewidentnym lisim faworytem jest Huevos Rancheros A La Vega - tak, jajecznica Pana Vegi z awokado – ta sama, którą robi na pokładzie Normandii, kiedy pyta się „kto chce jajka?”.

Haven't made anything from this yet (not a big drinker), but the recipes seem interesting and vary in complexity and flavor, so there seems to be something for everyone. And the pictures! They're so vibrant and pretty, just looking at them is half the fun.
