“Thriller enthusiasts who relish the precise execution of an international thriller, but who seek the psychological depth and believability of a protagonist who simultaneously fields professional and personal life challenges, will find this a gripping story that's hard to put down.” --Midwest Book Review, Diane Donovan (regarding Any Means Necessary) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“One of the best thrillers I have read this year. The plot is intelligent and will keep you hooked from the beginning. The author did a superb job creating a set of characters who are fully developed and very much enjoyable. I can hardly wait for the sequel.” --Books and Movie Reviews, Roberto Mattos (re Any Means Necessary) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Jack Mars is author of the bestselling LUKE STONE thriller series, which include the suspense thrillers ANY MEANS NECESSARY (book #1), OATH OF OFFICE (book #2) and SITUATION ROOM (book #3).
A pretty good story but full of editing errors, grammar mistakes and wrong person talking. Started out with an unbelievable event, bombing a “safe House” with a delivery of a bomb in a package. Really?, any agent in a safe house would not just take a box from a delivery person without knowing to expect it. It got worse from there.
The early days of the CIA are revealed in this novel about an American CIA agent paired with a Russian double agent. Despite the age differences and the nationalities, Anya and Tyler come to grips with their attraction to one another. There are many double crosses in this story in which Russians are turned into Soviets and Americans come to the aid of Europeans.
The characters of Anya and Tyler are very well developed carrying the plot to its fearless conclusion. Fear is an important element in understanding the Russian mentality in intelligence gathering. Love can be squeezed out when fear dominates. Anya’s father proves that, sadly. Fortunately, Anya acts without fear to vanquish her enemy, the Snow Queen, a British rogue agent.
I like this book a lot. It is fiction but it does give insights into the history of NATO and the Soviet Union following the end of WWII. A very easy read that can be read in a few hours time. It is so absorbing that it is hard to put down. Recommend it highly.
This is the writer’s second book of a series and likewise the second which I have read and I am really puzzled over what to say. I liked the first book very much; and I believe anyone reading this one will be more interested if they also have read the first book before this! However, for my own enjoyment this one is far less enticing. If I had read this first I doubt I would have come back for any others of the series. It’s NOT that the author’s literary skill diminished a whit. Rather the tale itself here becomes (to me) more a pleasant romance than a dynamic espionage thriller. While the espionage part is there to be sure I found myself uninvolved and quite ready to lay the story aside. Congratulations on pursuing a nice personal aspect of your lead characters’ lives! But I look more forward to finding how your other books will be.
Argh, more an annoying romance novel than a believable spy thriller. And thriller it ain’t. Predictable it is. How many times can Tyler get shot but not physically adversely impacted? Or Anya? Indestructible bullet magnets.
A bit of farce really. And the number of annoying typos, 90% of which should have been caught with a simple spellcheck, was extremely irritating. Same plethora of the annoyances as in book 1 unfortunately. Who switches spelling of one the main secondary characters halfway through and simply doesn’t notice it? Sack your proofreader or indeed, employ one please.
There was a lot of action and Tyler and Naya getting out of trouble they probably shouldn’t have. Tyler is showing a little more experience than in the first book and he still has a lot to learn. They go after bombers and rouge agents with the ease of harder agents because of the experience Naya has. This is a good book. Enjoy reading.
A thoroughly engrossing, Action Packed and realistic book I could Not put down until the wee hours! It's about those whose lives are dedicated to keeping us safe from some horrific enemies who are more real than the rest of us realize! God Bless Them ALL!!
Jack Mars does a fabulous job of spy and intrigue. I really enjoyed getting to know the characters on a deeper level and there’s comedy strewn throughout. I can’t wait to read the next book!
Gripping Cold War thriller. Slow tension filled start builds to a climax, as our protagonists from very different ideological cultures, come to grips with the world of double agents and double crosses.
A great continuation of the Tyler Wolfe series. The plot has many twists and turns. Once you pick up the book you will not want to put it down until you finish it.
2nd book in series which I really wanted to read. I’ve already started book 3. So eager to find out how the story of these intriguing characters continue. Post war espionage at its best.
The interaction between the two main characters was like reading a teen romance novel. That combined with poor grammar and typos and typesetting and lack of a thesaurus. Could not wait to finish.
What makes a person a double agent! This story takes this idea and follows the actions world wide. One agent from USA another double agent from Russia.
