A light but engrossing novel for a holiday read, Kill Her has a complex plot and a plethora of characters in a contemporary context. Starting with the rape and murder of a young girl ten years beforehand, the narrative moves forward to New Zealand during the pandemic against the backdrop of bands of malcontents who feel the state is overdoing mandates. Corruption in the police force adds spice to the mix. Fisk maintains the suspense and it is only in the final pages that the reader grasps the identity of the murderer.
